On the Trail of Treasure...Maybe

The moon loomed in the sky above the flooded flatlands, the murky waters in the area preventing it from reflecting too much in the water. Preferring to stay on moderately dry land, a certain Pikachu walked along the marshy land, feeling the ground squish in somewhat with each step. Recently, a Xatu had come into Grassveil Town, and delivered a riddle to practically everyone. It was something about a veil of white hiding a sea of fire, which held a treasure nobody else had touched. It was pretty vague, but Nate figured it was something worth checking out.
Now, as for why he had picked Cattail Marsh to go to. He had figured that maybe a veil of white could mean the mist in the area, and as for the sea of fire, he had a hunch on it being a bit of a metaphor maybe. He couldn't go alone though, and so he decided to invite Violet to tag along. He was finding that he enjoyed visiting her and hanging around the Oshawott, so maybe working together to find this could be interesting.
Speaking of that, though...
"Violet? Still there?" He asked, looking around. The Pikachu had gotten so caught up in exploring the area, he had lost track of her. He looked around, glancing to see if he could find her.

As Violet watched the Greninja rise from the marsh's watery depths, she found herself frozen for a moment, unsure what to do. A Frogadier was one thing, but a Greninja was hugely powerful as evident just by the fact that it had reached that level in Froakie's evolutionary chain. Luckily after leaping out of the water it seemed to ignore Nate, giving him the chance to attempt to find some way to get back to dry land. However, that left the Greninja's full attention on Violet.

The Greninja summoned water into it's hands, creating a set of Water Shuriken to throw towards the Oshawott. Regaining her ability to move as she calmed herself, Violet used her Scalchop to deflect majority of the shuriken, dodging the remaining ones. Her paw glowed with a pale blue light as she once again used Copycat, this time forming her own set of Water Shuriken. Though focussed on keeping the Greninja at bay, Violet took a moment to call out to her friend in concern, "Can you reach the bank okay?" she asked, throwing her own shuriken and dodging a second set coming from the Greninja.
Even though she was a teacher to others, she couldn't deny that her own strength wasn't as good as it should be. There was no way she was going to be able to defeat this guy on her own.

After a few seconds, Nate popped up from under the water, gasping for air as he looked over at how Violet was doing, hearing what she was saying.
"I haven't had to swim in a long time, but I figure I can. I'll be right there!" He responded, angling his body and beginning to kick, moving through the water a bit slowly and heading for the bank. By the point he had reached dry land, the Pikachu quickly pulled himself out of the water, shivering not so much from the cold, but from the experience. No new reasons to enjoy the water were found in the situation itself. Putting the TM Defog he had found in his bag, Nate turned his attention to Violet and the Greninja, quickly letting out a jolt of electricity towards the fully evolved water type, jogging over towards the Oshawott to join her.

Throwing another of the copied Water Shuriken's towards the Greninja, Violet managed to keep it at bay long enough for Nate to climb out of the water, at which point the Pikachu shot a jolt of electricity in what appeared to be a Thundershock at it.
"Glad to see you're alright," Violet smiled as Nate jogged over, the Greninja recovering from the super effective move to come at the duo again. This time at least they'd have Nate's electrical attacks on their side.

"Yeah, same to you." He nodded his head, stopping when he reached Violet to catch his breath. It didn't seem like there would be a lot of time for that though, as the Greninja recovered and once again began to come after them. Nate hesitated for a moment, before deciding to send another Thundershock at the fully evolved Pokemon. Hopefully, he would hit it, but considering the pokemon's speed he had started to back away a few steps, not wanting to risk getting hit again.

Though Nate was now safely out of the water, it didn't seem like the Greninja was going to leave them alone any time soon. The Ninja Pokemon was definitely fast, dodging and weaving around even the copied versions of it's Water Shuriken that Violet threw at it.

Nate's next Thundershock attack had just caught the Greninja mid jump as it attempted to get away, but even that didn't seem like enough to defeat it. However, Violet saw her chance and used Copycat once more, this time taking Nate's Thundershock move into her arsenal with a wave of one glowing white paw.

The Oshawott blinked and held off from using the Thundershock as the Greninja landed with a small splash in a puddle of water a short distance away. It had landed on it's feet and before long was ready to chase it's opponents again. The electrical attacks were definitely working, but the sheer power of the evolved pokemon allowed it to remain standing.

However, it was the splash that had caught her attention, lighting a metaphorical bulb in her head. This place was full of water, but if they could find somewhere safe...

"Nate can you see anywhere dry?" Violet asked the Pikachu suddenly. If they could get themselves somewhere where there was no water underfoot, it was possible that they could use all the marshland to their advantage and zap the Greninja using the water around it. It was a rather reckless idea, considering her own typing, but if she and Nate didn't do something soon this Greninja was going to overpower them.

"Great, it's using the water to hide from our attacks and get around quicker." Nate groaned, exasperated at the enemy's guerrilla tactics. It was just bouncing around and attacking it felt like, trying to wear the two of them down. Hearing Violet's question, he looked around, having to think for a moment before catching on to her idea.

"Oh! Uh...I don't know, the whole area is pretty wet. There's gotta be something if we keep searching though, right? Let's try and stay on the move, see if we can find-"

As he was speaking, the Greninja had begun to race towards the two again, firing an array of Water Shurikans at the duo. Nate stumbled to the side, avoiding one of them, and fell over on the ground. Looking back up, he froze, watching as the Greninja rushed towards him. The Pikachu slid back a bit and brought a paw up as a weak attempt at blocking the attack, watching as the fully evolved pokemon came nearer-

-and a scalchop flew into view, embedding itself into the ground where the Greninja had been, followed by a splashing sound nearby. The ninja pokemon quickly hopped away from the attack, avoiding it, and back into the water once more. Quickly standing back up, Nate shook his head.
"Thanks for that, Violet." He commented, turning to look at her, not understanding yet that it didn't come from her.

Avaria poked her head out from the water, positioned in a pool of it behind Violet and Nate, smirking somewhat as she watched the two of them. She had been exploring the area when she came across the pair of them, and decided to help out. After throwing one of her scalchops over, she had jumped into the water, in case one of the three of the pokemon there looked over. Well, this could be interesting. Maybe I should stick around a bit. She thought to herself, before submerging under the water once more, swimming closer to the mass of wet land Nate and Violet were on.
