Finally the last few trees were left behind the small Bug type, and the first buildings came into his field of vision. There it was - Grassveil Town.
At long last, after the most dangerous of travels, the Nincada had reached the end of his journey. Here he would be able to join a guild and show his- no, the old clan, that one would be able to earn money by taking missions and still help others with it.
Exhausted from the long trip, Ned slowly crawled over the flat hills surrounding the town, still looking out for potential threats from any Flying types, although he should be fairly safe, the guild in close proximity after all.
"At long last...I am at home..."
Would the guild be, what he expected it to be?
Would it be different?
And would he even get to join it right now?
Only time would show...

"Nincada evolve into one of those flying types," Akuroma stated. He then stretched a bit before standing back up.
"Not really, most of those types can be avoided by you burrowing under ground, especially the flying types."
He then looked straight at the Nincada as it asked him the question, "Like this," he said, blasting the Nincada a few feet away with a Confusion attack.

"Yeah, I know. But I'm not a Flying type yet. And also I don't know Dig, so avoiding those types isn't as easy as it appears to be."
Once more thoroughly surprised, Ned found himself thrown through the air.
Why was the Psychic type doing this?
"Ow! What'd you do that for? I thought you said you wanted to help me? You might want to consult a dictionary next time..."
To think, that the Bug type had just begun to consider the Psychic type as a potential friend...

Akuroma sighed, placing a hand on his face, "Ned, tell me, how does a Pokemon normally get stronger?" he asked, he'd seen other pokemon do this, perhaps the Nincada never did at his previous home.
"They battle each other. Though I guess you're not used to others starting it without warning, which is something that can be common in Grassviel, as we have a good number of hotheads."
He then waited, deciding to give the bug type a free attack to make up for the two Confusion attacks.

"While battling is one way to do it, I would have expected some sort of warning. Since you made no such comment, I was assuming, that we were going to try another option, the analysis and optimisation of my battle strategy for example."
Okay, so the Ralts had only the best intentions in mind. Still, he should have told him about that!
Anyway, no use complaining about it now. Now he had a battle to win.
"Well, I guess we battle now."
From behind the Nincada's stubby wings a silvery powder flowed down onto the ground. But it did not remain there for long. A sudden breeze  made the glittering substance ascend into the air, then propelled it towards the Ralts in the shape of sparkling crescents.
Silver Wind had always been a favourite of Ned, as it had considerable power, a wide range of effect and could even raise his stats if he got lucky.
This time that did not happen, but the attack probably would not be wasted still.

Akuroma nodded and took the brunt of Silver Wind, which was probably not a good idea as now he'd to be all the more careful. When the attack subsided, the Ralts raised his hands near the red horn on his head and fired a Confuse Ray at the Nincada. He knew that if he could get Ned confused, he'd be in much better shape to avoiding his attacks.
"Let's see how much your journey's taught you."

Hidden in the thick clouds of silver dust his attack had produced, Ned tried to sneak up to the Ralts as a strange ball of glowing energy whizzed right past him. That was close.
Out of his hiding place, the Nincada jumped up into the direction he had smelled the Ralts to be in.
Confuse Ray or not, the previous attacks had taken their toll on the Bug type, so now he had to replenish some of that energy. And Leech Life appeared to be the best attack to use for this job.
Hopefully he would land the attack, as if he did not, he would be in quite a bit of a predicament.

Akuroma was quite surprised when Ned jumped out of the clouds, making him fall back. As he rolled away to avoid the Leech Life, the Ralts used Growl to lessen the effect of Bed's Leech Life, should it ever hit. He then hopped back farther from the Silver Dust Cloud in order to keep Ned from using it as cover.

While Akuroma was correct in assuming, that Ned would no longer be able to hide in the cloud of silver dust he had conjured up, there was nothing preventing him from just creating another one.
Once more a cloud of sparkling dust rose up into the air, once more descending in the form of gleaming blades of light.
The Ralts was putting up more of a fight than Ned had imagined.
He would probably not be able to keep up his assault for long, so something would have to happen soon or the Nincada might just run out of energy.

Akuroma used his Confusion Ray attack to knock a hole through the dust cloud in order to protect himself and hopefully hit Ned. He himself was having trouble, though he avoided Leech life and this Silver Dust, the first attack was almost all that Ned needed to bring him down. Akuroma knew he needed to end this quickly if he planned on winning.

Just as he was in the process of recovering from his latest attack, a bright flash of light filled the Nincada's field of vision. Suddenly his mind felt, as if it was melting. No, as if it was breaking. Or shattering? What was a mind anyway? More and more the Bug type's thoughts turned into a jumbled mess, making it quite difficult to act correctly in the heat of battle.
As he was overwhelmed by all the new impressins making their ways into his mind, Ned drunkenly stumbled out of the back of the cloud of dust, moving away from the battle.

Akuroma used Confusion on the dust cloud to clear it away. As he noticed Ned moving away from the battle field, he used Confusion to bring him back in without harming him.
"Try to keep from getting too far," he said, knowing his words were probably lost to the Nincada.

Abruptly Ned found himself lifted off of his claws once more and brought towards the Ralts.
"H-hi, mommy...lemme give you a hug!"
Although he was hanging in mid-air, Ned's thoughts were too mixed up to think of it as something to be afraid of. Instead he extended his sharp front legs towards the Ralts, utilizing the move Scratch without intending to.

"Gah!" Akuroma yelled as he hopped back, holding his sides from the Scratch attack. He grimaced slightly, knowing that one more hit and he's out. He used Confusion again to pick the Nincada up and slam him back down onto the ground.
"If that's how he hugs his mom, I'd hate to see how he grabs his enemies," Akuroma muttered to himself, trying to keep his distance from the Nincada.

With a tiny thud the Nincada was smashed into the ground.
Normally this attack would not have been too problematic due to the Bug type's typing, but this attack had the unfortunate side effect of causing Ned to land on his back, his legs flailing helplessly in the air.
Finally the fog, that had been clouding the Nincada's mind had dispersed, just in time for him to notice his predicament.
"Huh...urgh...what happened? And why is the ground blue all of a sudden?"

"You're upside down," Akuroma said, using Confusion on Ned to flip him over, while smashing him into the ground again.
"Seems you had a bit of fun while being confused," the Ralts commented, watching the Nincada carefully as he backed up slightly. However, he failed to notice the small log behind him, causing him to trip and fall down.
