Day 01
Santalune City
7:30 PM
Today... has been interesting. My life's been pretty crazy lately, what with the move. Now that me, Rhyhorn, Fletchling, and mom have finished unpacking, you'd think we'd be able to relax and get familiar with our new Kalos home, right?
...Wrong!
The turn of events that happened today have led me on a path far different than what I expected. I won't complain though. To be honest, what happened and is happening today has been a very fun and enjoyable experience! I'm not complaining, as I feel there's no real need to do so just yet!
It all started back at my new home. After a (slightly rude) awakening from the family Fletchling, I had come downstairs to be greeted by who I recognized as my neighbor Calem, along with another girl who seemed to be from a nearby town. She was pretty peppy, and I'she annoyed me a little by utilizing this trait. They wanted to me to come with them, so just like any girl who had just woken up and hadn't ate or freshened up, I decided to take a short walk to another town. Pretty boring, but it was quick.
Now even more local kids are greeting me. The annoyingly cute girl was Shauna, and the two new guys were named Tierno and Trevor. Tierno seemed to pack on too many pounds to be a great dancer like all his friends claim he is, and Trevor just seemed to be a big nerd, but also the kind of guy that is good when you need answers.
They wanted a nickname for me. I usually don't go for nicknames, since my name is a whooping 4 letters long. With a little bit of inspiration from the others I was able to come up with T-chan. That nickname will probably haunt me later.
Then, it began to get good.
Thank Arceus! I was finally able to get the Pokemon I was promised, and I was not disappointed. The three Pokemon I had to choose from were adorable, but I was sure they'd become war veterans in time. I picked the fire fox, known as Fennekin, apparently. It just had that defiant gaze in its eye that spoke to me or something. It was all like, "pick me if you want, but there's no guarantee I'll listen." And for some reason I liked it. So I picked her, named her Rin, and then got the new trainer stuff: a Pokedex and a letter to give to my mom so I have permission to train Pokemon. On the way back home to deliver it, Shauna challenged me, of all people, to a battle! Her "Lil' Chespin" was quickly defeated by Rin's Embers.
This letter puzzled me. It was from the "renowned" Professor Sycamore, but if he was so smart, why'd he give me the Pokemon first and
then permission to use it? Who's to say I couldn't just run off and have my Fennekin burn it? In the end, I just showed it to mom and then went off into the world.
Then, on Route 2, I was shown how to catch a Pokemon by Calem. And I found out another reason why Shauna annoys me: she's clueless. I dunno about you, but I've known about Pokeballs since I could recognize a Pikachu. Calem gave me some free Pokeballs, but I guess I've been a bit picky about who I'm catching for my team. I haven't used them all yet, and currently I've only caught two other Pokemon along with my starter.
I came across the Santalune Forest after winning my first trainer battle with some little kid. Shauna followed me around, which was still annoying, but she healed my Pokemon a lot which was a plus. The five of us (I'll call them the gang) all explored the forest together. I ran into a lot of bugs and trainers; Rin dispatched them all quickly and professionally with her fire attacks. She doesn't like getting back into her Pokeball after being sent out. She always tries to run off after a battle. She comes back soon, but usually trips or scratches me. My legs are kind of scratched up, and my new socks have a lot of rips in them. I tried to make things right and build our friendship, but all Rin did was eat all my Pokepuffs and then refuse to do anything else. When I got angry at her she ran off, though I was able to get her in her Pokeball again by catching her by surprise later. I hope the gang didn't notice my angry outbursts and my failure to keep my only Pokemon at the time in check. They aren't the most memorable people out there, but they're the first ones to talk to me in ages... They don't know the real me, and I hope they never find out...
Once we got out of that forest, me and the gang split up and went their separate ways. I was kinda happy about this, though not in a mean, "I don't like them" kind of way. With us all running around together, we must've caused a commotion to the nearby people and Pokemon. I've barely even started my journey, and I don't want to be marked as a cliche meddling kid, thank you very much!
I kicked butt against some little kids and they gladly game me their lunch money. Back at home, if you were to even accidentally bump into any kid younger or older than you, you'd get a sharp kick to the shin or the crotch, though the latter attack was more, though not exclusively, male oriented. Times like these make me glad this who Pokemon fiasco started in the first place.
I caught an Azurill and named him Ezume. Welcome to the team, member #2! He's really weak, but he seems to take battling really seriously. He makes up his low strength with his high persistence, though I'm not going to send him out against Pokemon stronger than him and expect the little guy to come out unscathed.
I
finally made it to Santalune City, and I kicked butt against this one skater and got a pair of Rollerskates of my own. I already knew how to use them and I have my own pair at home that I just didn't bring, so this was a nice offering.
I trained a bit more on Route 22 and found a strange, monochromatic Bunnelby. I caught it because of this and named him Tetsu. Welcome! He's really lazy and seems to be a bit more chubby than your normal Bunnelby. He's pretty weak, too, and unlike Ezume he can't take many hits. I believe they'll both have their skills blossom in the days to come, though.
That's pretty much the summary of everything that happened today so far. I'm probably gonna tackle the Santalune Gym soon. Now, my hands hurt from all this writing. Pokemon Centers are really comfy though. They also have great snacks...
Anyway, I promise to make these shorter later. I just haven't had time to stop and write multiple, separate entries. I'll keep doing my best!
