Bully Beatdown

The day was a dark one in the Shadowhue Forest, although that wasn't anything special for this place. The thick cover of leaves, twigs and branches on the tall trees almost completely blocked out the sun, only a few rays of sunlight broke through the blanket of darkness, illuminating the area and creating tiny bright spots on the forest ground. As they partially lit up the omnipresent shadows, the resulting lights of various tones and hues made the forest look almost surreal. And through this surreal forest, a lone figure wandered. It was wearing a black cloak with a hood, so its features weren't discernible. However, as it moved on its path, it didn't make a single sound, not leaving a single twig in its wake.
The only sounds were a soft wind rustling the leaves and a strange mumbling, apparently coming from the figure. While it was difficult to understand, single phrases might be heard by anyone nearby.
"...why..."
"...deserve this..."
"...have I done..."
"...traitors..."
"...fear and hate..."
"...I was right...they were right..."

"Uh, thanks, I guess...?", William answered, completely overwhelmed by the Delibird's emotional response.
It wasn't his problem, so why did he care that much? Helping him wouldn't hold any benefit for Nick, so his actionss were illogical. Yet, William decided to ignore it as he led the Delibird deeper into the forest.
The landscape didn't change very much, besides the fact, that the trees were getting larger and older the further they progressed. Their long branches blocked out a majority of the sunlight, possibly causing trouble seeing for Pokémon with bad eyesight. Luckily, William's species was good at seeing in the dark. Just not that good at making friends...

Nick followed behind William. He was giving a weak smile for a while, but as the woods got darker, the bird's smile faded a little. The flying type's eyes were good for seeing in the distance, not in the dark. Granted, there wasn't anything bad about his dark vision, but there wasn't anything good about it either. Nick's travel slowed with him having to be more careful. This would be fine, but Will got so far ahead and blended in so well with the dark. The bird called out to him. "William... I-I can hardly see you... I'm sorry... but could you slow down... please."

"Huh? Oh...sure.", William responded as he waited for the Ice type to catch up.
"I've gotten so used to travelling alone, that I forgot to pay attention to you."
Up to now, the Delibird hadn't done much but slow William down. Yet, the Gastly hadn't left him. Neither when he was poisoned, nor now, when he was unable to keep up with him. William had been left so often already, so why shouldn't he do the same? But something was stopping him. There was this strange feeling in him, that turned into a strange sort of pain as he thought about abandoning Nick. But what was that feeling? For the moment, William decided to ignore it...

The bird did his best to catch up and keep up while he spoke. "It's ok, I sometimes forget not everyone can fly." He gave an assuring smile before looking around. "Wow... It's a lot darker now. Can you even tell the time here?" The avian couldn't help but wonder how the place may look at night that may differ from right now. Wait, what if it was night already? The bird has been wandering for a while. It could be night by now for all he knew.

"I'm sure, that there are Pokémon, that can, but I never needed the time here, so I don't know either. Let's just continue pushing forward and hope, that we find our target soon."
While William spoke, he carefully tried to float around each tree and bush instead of through it, since he assumed, that Nick was using him for orientation. And as far as he knew, Delibird weren't capable of moving through solid matter. This journey certainly was a strange experience...

"Oh... Ok..." Will wasn't very sociable, was he? Well, it's not really something Nicholas should be surprised about. He has been living alone. The bird continued to follow the ball of gas. Of course, he tripped here and there, but he generally kept up with Will. For the time, it was very silent. The bird couldn't think of anything to say, and obviously Will wasn't concerned about making conversation.

The Delibird's beliefs were correct, and so the strange duo silently made their way through the forest until the trees were getting fewer, revealing an area with a more rocky ground, that was being illuminated by the sun, shining through the thinner cover of leaves.
William found himself forced to wait there for a bit, getting used to the sunlight again. While he had no problem seeing in the darkness, the sudden bright light had left him relatively dazed and certainly not able of seeing that well. Constantly blinking, he waited for Nick to catch up.

Eventually, Nick found a brighter area, as did William. When the bird saw the rocky ground, he ran ahead of William and forgot about the ghost for a short moment before halting again and turning back to the Gastly. "Hey, is something wrong?" Before Will had much of a chance to answer, the ground began to shook, but only below Nicholas. The Delibird fell over and landing on his behind. He wasn't harmed at all. A little more shaking occurred where Nick had just stood before something popped up. At first, it looked like a rock, but then one would soon be able to see it had eyes, a mouth, and two arms. The creature looked irritated, but not hostile, at least not yet.

(For the sake of knowing who's who, bold text is the Geodude speaking.)

"What do ya think you're doing!? You don't just stand on a guy's head!" The bird bowed his head and spoke a little meekly. "S-sorry sir... you looked-" "I looked like a rock. Yeah, yeah." The Geodude sighed. "What are you doing here anyways?" "Well... y-you see... I'm from the Grassveil Guild, a-and we got a thing about a Timburr-" "You have got to be kidding me." Obviously, the Geodude wasn't pleased. He narrowed his eyes at the bird, crossed his arms, and huffed rather rudely. "Here we are, trying to build up a nice pack. Some Timburr decides to beat us all up and take our stuff, and they send me some big red Pidgey that can't say ten words without stuttering to take care of it!? You know what kid, save yourself the trouble. Just go back and put that note back up for someone that can actually fight." "B-b." Before Nick could even get a word in, the rock buried itself back into the ground. He could probably still hear Nick, but he also was likely ignoring him. Nick crossed his arms and looked to the ground. That stung pretty bad. Here he had come all this way, and he wasn't even given a chance. The avian looked around for a moment or two, not really sure what to do.

"Just ignore him. I'll assume, that it's because of your typing. He'll see, when we defeat that Timburr."
William really didn't like Pokémon making assumptions without any evidence, but he actually had to agree with the Geodude. Nick didn't seem to be that much of a fighter. Yet, for some reason William didn't want to leave him. Some unknown feeling deep in the back of his mind forced a sort of...connection between the two.
"Let's get going. The sooner we do this, the sooner we can leave here again."
Having said that, William progressed over the rocky area, constantly looking for...anything, that didn't look like a rock actually.

Nick slowly nodded. It didn't take a genius to figure out he wasn't convinced, but he knew that either way, nothing could be done about it. Still, he had to wonder if the Geodude was right. Throughout his life, many Pokemon have called him a weakling and a lot have even made fun of him for it. As much as the ice type wanted to prove his strength, he just hasn't done much to prove it. Either way, he was on a mission, and should be focusing on that. The Delibird followed the Gastly, doing his best to stay alert.

The two of them continued to move through the rocky landscape, the Gastly keeping his eyes open for any sign of the Timburr outlaw. That is, until that very same Timburr apparently decided to leap from its hiding place in one of the trees and landed directly in their path.
"Huh? So you two are those idiot's saviours? The righteous heroes?"
The Timburr supressed a chuckle as it continued:
"And you actually think, you can stop me? You weaklings probably haven't even been on a mission before! So you think you can keep up with my strength? We'll see about that. Run, while you still can...or how do you like THIS?"
The Timburr attempted to use Low Kick on the Gastly, screaming at the top of its lungs while doing so.
William was not impressed.

The bird watched the Timburr kick at the Gastly. Well, that was pointless. Even Nick knew fighting type moves do nothing against ghosts. Figuring the Timburr wasn't all too bright, Nick didn't feel all too threatened anymore. He threw a wrapped up box at the Timburr, but to his surprise, the fighting type detected the box and swung his log at it, hitting it back to the bird. Though this was unexpected, Nick somehow managed to dive down just in time to dodge. A bit of a ways away, some rocks flew up as that box exploded above them. The bird managed to get back to his feet. Well, so much for an easy opponent.

Seeing, that the Fighting type attack didn't do anything, the Timburr decided to resort to a normal attack, swinging its log at the Gastly.
The Ghost type partially managed to dodge, but the attack brushed him, causing William to fly up into the sky a bit. The Ghost type decided to use Lick, floating at the bully.
As the attack hit, it left a rather disgusted Timburr, which promptly decided to use Focus Energy.
It slowed down its breathing to calm down, giving it an increased chance to land critical hits.

The bird was a little disappointed in his failed attack. He hoped an Ice Shard would be too quick for him. However, as he threw the ice, he found the Timburr holding his log once more. All the shards stuck to that lumber as it was moved swiftly. This shocked the bird as the Timburr gave a chuckle. "Go back home, twerp." With that, the log hit the ground, causing a rock to fly into the air and hit Nick's stomach. He held his gut with pain. Why do all his opponents have rock type moves?

Meanwhile the Gastly had prepared another attack, exhaling a stream of poisonous gas in the Timburr's direction. From the cloud of gases, loud coughing could be heard, followed by a rather angry-looking Timburr jumping out, slamming its log onto the ground. Seemingly out of nowhere, a rather large boulder began to fall out of the skies, landing directly on top of the Gastly. Apparently the Timburr had gotten poisoned, its attack rising because of its ability.
Finally William rose up again, groaning.
"Of course it has non-Normal or Fighting type moves...why couldn't anything be easy for once?"
