Drinks All Around [Halloween 2019]

Golden lights filtered through rickety windows into the dark streets. It was the dead of night, yet the building was alive with instruments, song, and dance. The sheer energy that radiated from the single building was enough to woo the attention of a serpentine grass type that wandered the outside. He didn't need to even think about why this particular building was so alive at this time. It was the holidays! Surely everyone inside was in the midst of treating themselves to a merry time.

He hadn't even entered, but he could already feel his body sway in line with the tune from outdoors. He wanted in. The snivy's tail waved behind him in a half-dance before he took it upon himself to indulge in his desire. He stepped up to the door, though he needed to reach up to touch the handle. He managed, but as soon as a smile crossed his expression, the door suddenly swung open. He pulled himself up and clung to the iron bar with wide eyes, surprised by the sudden movements. Fortunately, he didn't slam into the side of the building.

He could hear boisterous laughter just on the other side of the door as a few pokemon stumbled outside. He was certain that they weren't amused by his misery, in fact, he was certain that they hadn't even noticed he was here! A Mr. Mime held the door open as the trio left. Once they were well out of their way, he was quick to release his grip on the latch and dart inside.

Just as he expected, it was bright, loud, and busy. Several years ago, this sort of setting would have intimidated him. Today, however, it sparked excitement. He just couldn't wait to see what this kind of party was going to turn out to be...

She waved her head as if to she was eye rolling, "It is fine~. Jaden, hmm? At least yours is easier to remember than mine. Just call me Nemi or, uh, Nema. Unless you're fine with remembering neminuh, er... neminai.... mmm... Neminae." giving him a rather cute look despite the mix up on her own name before turning to the stage.

Looking at the Pokemon on stage, and the random singing everyone was incoherently chiming, she slowly felt confused abput why no one was making any logistical sense. Her head taitched to one the  another, tilting from one side to the next trying toto pinpoint a conversation or if there was some reason for their singing. Till eventually she was looking at Jaden once again.

She finally noticed that Jaden has been moving with the rhythm, yet for some reason, she isn't very interested in what's going on herself. How odd. It didn;t really bother her, but she couldn't deny that she felt a bit disappointed that she didn't understand the point. "I wonder what's with everyone? I never seen a group so disorganized."

((Ha, if I give her a last name. It'd probably be some reference to some famous Cicada species somewhere. And it would probably would fit, she wouldn't remember it anyway. She dislikes how boring her life is after all, anything else is easily more interesting.))

The snivy took a more careful listen to the crowd around him rather than the music. The nincada was right, everyone did seem a tad...out of sync? It was curious really. Did they not agree on the song beforehand?

"Not sure either, everyone probably just knows different interpretations..." he suggested, "Either that or they're making up their own stuff just to make as much noise as possible..." he wasn't sure which himself, or even if either of those answers were correct. The snivy focused his attention back onto the nincada, "I think I'll make use of Nemi."

"Do you remember why you came here exactly yet? Chatter? Celebrate? Curiosity?" he inquired. They didn't particularly have a goal in mind, which felt him feeling a little lost in what to do. His original plan was to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere, perhaps talk with a mon or two, but the nincada threw all sorts of wrenches into that. Wrenches he didn't particularly mind.

"...different interpretations...?" Nemi muttered slowly, questioningly. She didn't think on it long as the short emerald snek started talking about herself once again. She got just as confused as she did annoyed, but the question was valid enough.

Thinking on the subject, now that she saw this place, she still didn't remember exactly but that nagging feeling still remained. Deciding to go with that, Nemi said while shaking her head, "No, not really. Maybe I was just asleep, and then this happened, and... I don't know. It's not my place and I do wander alot. Perhaps I couldn't get sleep and just came here. I just go with the whim of the moment." she ended off nodding her head like a wink.

There seemed to be quite alot going on here, and she did feel a need to go see what they're about. Besides looking restless, she had her mind under control, "Enough about meeeee~♪ I would like to know more about this veil of grass, or whatever this place I'm at is. I forgot the name of that too, but don't bother. I'll forget it after a while when I get distracted as you're seeing. My life is boring, but what I get myself into is waaay more fun." Ending this off with giggles of excitement.

This was quite an odd nincada indeed. Jade had never met such a character like this enthusiastic bug type. The closest anyone ever came was one of his closer friends Namataki, but she was far more energetic and, well, passionate about every little thing. His tail ceased to wave as the song on stage came to a close. The patrons of the establishment gave a cheer to send the song off, but it was not long before discussion started up over what to play next.

"Hmm," Jade hummed thoughtfully on where to even begin, "Well, even if you're going to forget, the town you're in is Grassveil. This right here is just The Stingy Persian if I recall, a pub for pokemon to relax and sorts. From what I've heard it's rare that things get particularly noisy around here, but there's always something going on in my personal experience."

"The dangerous kind especially, but this is nothing compared to the town off to the Southeast. I'd imagine that's because of the guild nearby-lovely folk they are." He smiled at the thought of it. He hadn't met many explorers, but he did accompany some on a rather important mission in Shadowhue. He, the clients, and everyone involved nearly died, but they all made it out very obviously. "The guild's probably the most exciting thing here if you're looking for something a bit more adventurous."

"Ooooh..." Nemi simply stared at Jade, more expectant than curious. Only to flinch and look away when the cheering started. What just happened? Peering on stage it seemed that they finished what they were doing but both the Pokemon on stage and tthe Pokemon by the stage were starting up a consortment of sorts. She had no idea what it was so shrugged and returned her look to Jade.

Rethinking over what was said, she scratched her head. "But there are no Persian here, let alone any that are Stingy... I think. I didn't hear one anyway. And relaxing is nice, but I can't stay in one place. It's not my style." Shrugging seemed like the best action to take here.

Only to giggle at the sound of a guild, nodding at first but shaking her head before speaking, "Yes, Guild life sounds fun and very intertaining, but no... Way to dangerous to leave this area as I am, maybe after I evolve and can actually do things." She started swaying as if pondering on what to say back, but probably just being excited.

"You know..." she stopped just as soon as she did though and sounded rather, normal. "I don't think I could keep up a life as one of those explorers. Way to expectant. I'd rather do my own thing." Then she does another shrug and her tone and behavior shifted suddenly to annoyed, but not mad. She just seemed to be feeling, off. "I really don't like talking about my life, alright? Way to uninteresting to make any sort of cuts. It's what happens when you're born to simply sap on the roots of non-sentient things, for like ten or so years."

Adverting her gaze to look at the crowd, she wanted to hide that she had been like that for far longer than a normal Nincada. "Even though I do, I don't think I could. Not now. Don't try to advise something unless you plan to do it yourself. Unless you're asking me to join you. To which... maybe..? But I'd need a bit of help."

With a side tilt and a sigh, she started swaying again, back to her more Nemi attitude. "Any who, being on my own hasn't given me many issues. I sortof enjoy being alone. No one to boss me around, and stuff, except for my parents i guess. It's perfectly brilliant. Ha, but am I being a bit much?"

((You can only do Halloween event rolls in this thread and one per completed page. If you wanted something like encounters and items, you'd need to be in a dungeon. ^^))

For someone who supposedly didn't want to talk about their own life, Nemi certainly went off a bit more about her own life than Jade inquired. He hadn't asked a single thing about her life...did she actually want him to ask? He'd certainly known a person or two who said the opposite of what the wanted-Namataki being one of those. It was usually a matter of pride that kept them from speaking their mind. The nincada sounded annoyed though...his brow furrowed in confusion.

"Well, it's just a name. Like I have Jade and you have Nemi. It doesn't literally mean there's a persian around here," he commented on with a slight wave of his hand.

Upon the talk of the guild, however...he found himself utterly baffled. Expectant? From what he heard, the guild was quite the opposite! "Doing your own thing" was certainly viable with the guild's system. He became even more befuddled as the nincada switched from a "no" on joining the guild to a "maybe" if he were offering to go with her...which he never once mentioned. Was...was that another opposite-thing? Did she want him to join the guild with her?

"But ah, you're not being much at all. I'm just a tad confused if anything," he admitted, "I'd have to say though, I disagree with the idea of not giving advice if you don't intend to do it. Not everything is a one-fit-trick. Something that may work for me, may not work for someone else. I was just saying that the guild is a perfect fit for adventurous types."

"I wouldn't say I'm an explorer sort of person, but I wouldn't object to the idea of joining it. I have some things I need to do before I do anything of the sort though," he continued as he rested his head on one leafy hand. His gaze wandered off towards the instruments, curiously watching each one and their players. "I've been trying to find some friends of mine, really kind people, we were going off on adventures ourselves years ago, but we got a little separated. I'd rather find them first before I go off and make engagements and commitments elsewhere."

"It must get awfully lonely on your own, not to mention dull just sticking around one spot so often. If you want to explore out a bit more, I'm sure one of the explorers in the guild would be happy to give you an escort and show you around one of the lovelier places to visit. Some teams may even do it for free if you ask nicely...but uh...is there something you do want to talk about or...?" he fished out of curiosity.

This dice is not existing.

The bug was angry. He didn't quite understand what he'd done or said to get on Nemi's nerves, but a growl and hostile display let him know that he'd somehow pressed the wrong button. As far as he was concerned, he was just chatting about the guild in the area and what the nincada could do. Was that what the nincada meant by "Talking about herself", he wondered.

The nincada asked a question about the "day" he went exploring, but immediately requested to skip that. He decided not to, since the nincada was obviously incredibly uncomfortable with the current topic and the question was definitely something he could divert with.

"Well, if you want to talk about something else so much," he began, "When I went adventuring around with my friends, we weren't with the guild or anything. It was just the three of us out on our own. It was silly and dangerous looking back on it, but we had each other so we figured we were fine. Honestly, we were. We lived far far away from here and traveled all the way out this way before we got separated. Any time we got caught in a serious bind, we'd make off like bandits and get the hell out of there-though Garnet always had to be dragged out of the fights before he got himself seriously injured..." He gave a light chuckle, partially out of amusement for the memory and partially out of unease, perhaps this would help the bug type out a little? He absolutely didn't want to upset the stranger...

This was getting a bit confusing, but it's not all that bad. Especially when the Snivy actually changed subject. Allowing her the relief of mind, immediately throwing her self-questioning thoughts out the window, for the info on others. She still felt the stares arou d her, even if they were no longer looking.

Hesitant acknowledgement in the form of a happy sigh is what she did. "I still say it was probably more hectic than you think. Probably more so for them." then she paused to think about something, as something occured to her. "You're saying names, but I don't know them. I'd ask for who and what, but I don't wish to press on you. Instead, is there some sort of, activity going on here? And why does this place feel so, weird?"

And with that, she looked behind her. There were alot of colorful blurs moving about every now and then, but the place she focused on were the immediate group, which was back to watching the stage, and the grass-type trio from earlier, who don't seem to be at their table.

The serpent's eyebrow quirked upwards at the question. Had...had the nincada forgotten already? "It's...a Celebration?" he repeated once more, though it sounded more as if he were asking a question rather than the Nincada.

"I told you that when we came in here," he clarified, "Music, dancing, singing-a party of sorts." He likely didn't need to explain what a celebration entailed, but he did so anyways...just in case. His arm reached up and began to adjust the grassy protrusions on her shoulder. He made sure they were nice and curly as he spoke, "And you don't really need to be concerned with pressing me. I'm an open book with nothing to hide. Nothing's too personal to ask from me," he paused for a second as he contemplated what he said, before he shrugged off whatever thought he had. It was true in a way. He was fairly open about everything and everything so long as someone asked.

"Garnet is a Charmander and Namataki is a piplup-the third friend that accompanied us. I'd have to admit though, I'm fairly certain the trip was more troublesome for me than it was for those two. They were quite happy with all of the sights we got to see. If anything, I probably weighed them down!" He gave a small laugh at the idea. He really couldn't wait to find his friends...if only he had the slightest clue as to where they were.

"Oooooh, THAT's what's happening." Nemi paused to rethink on that, turning to face the Snivy in the meantime. Only to shake her head with a bit of a confused tilt.

"Only heard of it, haven't seen, but that's something. Buuut, aside from that, I don't really have a reason to stay. Yet..." pausing again to look to the side, "Why have a party now? What's the occasion?"

She couldn't help but chuckle despite knowing nothing. A party's fun, and now that she knows, it's no wonder everyone is so... weird.

"I don't know for certain, but I'd assume it has something to do with the holidays...either that or it's just for fun. Either way, does it really matter all that much in the end?" he perked back into a smile at the thought, "Fun's fun-don't need to have any sort of special reason to do it. It'd be disappointing and dull to limit it to certain occasions."

"I don't quite have a reason to stay either, but I don't have any particular reason to leave either." The snivy's tail waved about as his gaze trailed away from the nincada and over to the booths. The movements of the leaf behind him stopped as he came into eye contact with the daring trio from before. His form shrank instinctively as the glares bore right into him, he broke eye contact immediately, but decided that perhaps it was best to move his seat...to a point where he wasn't in their direct line of sight.

"On second thought, I do have a reason to leave," he laughed nervously with a sheepish smile, as if this were somehow funny. He didn't elaborate, as he instead opted to continue on, "But ah-yes-yes, Parties. They're...fun. Good fun. Lots of singing. Lots of dancing. Lots of...things."

Welp, now she had questions on what day it was, and impulse to simply ask why. But perhaps that's too pushy. Maybe in due time. She'd mutter the key points he said to herself,"Holidays? or just for fun. It'd be dull if it was for set times. H-huh..."

When she came back to reality, the Snivy was looking to the other side of the building. She didn't ses what he saw, or more of, she didn't recognize what he saw. So when he shrank due to being intimidated, she wondered what's going on that much more.

Heck, his look contradicted how he sounded, this much she could perceive. "Hmm? Uh, you don't look like your enjoying this. Is it me? but wait, but you said party's are fun, and now that you say that... I'm not really feeling that. I sense it from the others here, but I don't think this kind of party suits me."

She got down from her seat, "If you're leaving then I suppose there's no reason I should be here. I mean, I now know what's going on. I'm not all that interested in participating. I am pretty tired." and started heading off, in the wrong direction of the door.

The looks he received were difficult to shake. He couldn't even really understand why he had gotten them. He hadn't even spoken to that particular clique. It was not difficult to figure, however, that it must have been because of his continued voluntary interaction with a bug they particularly despised...for little to no reason.

He found himself honestly agreeing with the nincada now that he had the experience of those riffraffs staring him down. He walked in with the intent to party and socialize, but now it seemed less of a good idea. He looked back over to the bug just as she declared her departure and promptly headed...in the wrong direction. Oh, lovely! An Excuse! Not that he needed one, since he was free to leave whenever he wanted, but still something inside him saw it fit to have a reason to head towards the door without ordering a single thing.

"Ah-Ah!" he jumped down from the table with a hurried step to catch up to his acquaintence, "That's not quite the direction of the door-if that's where you're headed. It's off over to your left-about one hundred and twenty degrees-" Did the bug know math? He probably shouldn't have assumed...

"Er-I'm going to be on my way out as well, so ah...follow me if you eh..want to." He hoped the bug followed so it made this all significantly less awkward. Either way, he started towards the door, where he could practically feel the roselia's glare against his back.

"Eh, what?" pausing to his words. She saw the sky and headed for it, but he said she was going in the wrong direction. Looking back, she could clearly see an opening to the outside, but then again. He could see where as she couldn't really see. She didn't argue passed the confusion.

"Okay." Almost turning around completely, she looked at the Snivy and notice his tension. What seemed to bother him? She felt like asking, but the closer to the door the more she could sense something menacing of her own. She couldn't pinpoint it, but seeing the Snivy as he was applified her awareness.

She instinctively hardened as she muttered, "Menacing presense, here? Mr Snivy, do be on edge. You'll need it more." They were practically at the door with nothing stopping them. So far so good, but so ething told her they'll be stopped sooner or later. Or just straight up flanked.
