[Energy 19 - 11(entry) = 8]

Pepper laid herself low to the ground, crunching on a branch she found as soon as she was back on solid land. The trip to this forest was thrilling but
she couldn't really find the strength in her legs right now. She wondered if she would be able to make the return trip. She crunched trough the twig between her teeth and stretched out her body. Of course she would! She was going to become powerful, she couldn't let some stepping stones scare her.

With her treat gone she clawed into the solid earth. She let out a contented sigh and stood up. It was time to look for some fun. She started walking along the beaten path leading out from the stepping stones. She wondered idly who she could meet in this forest, and how strong they were. Hopefully, she'd be able to find someone to play with who had some guts. Most Pokemon run when you greet them with an attack. Those were boring Pokemon to her. She wanted to have some fun!

The next Pokemon who she came across was going to have fun with her, whether they wanted to or not!

Sanja: {21 - 11 (entry) = 10}
Items:

Sanja was exhausted by everything that had been happening the past few days. So much so, that she didn't even want to run anymore. There was only one thing that could cheer her up at a time like this, and that one thing was to pull a classic prank. Nothing was quite as hilarious as an old school trick leaving a Pokemon looking silly, where both parties could laugh at their foolishness. In her newfound source of energy, Sanja got up off the barren ground and got to work.

There was some sense of victory in a good prank, too. Success showed a prankster's earnest effort, and though regarded as a cruel thing to do, spread joy if done right. The Eevee bared a toothy grin as she meticulously set a branch to the ground and carefully buried a Petrify Orb where it would be tossed into the air by the branch were a pokemon to pass and set it off.

Ohohoho... This is gonna be so funny... She chuckled internally, quickly dashing behind a tree with a good distance—but also a good view—of the trap she had set. It was nothing like those pesky dungeon traps, and besides, paralysis was only temporary. Sanja didn't expect or want to do any real harm, and with her experience over the years of practical jokes, she didn't expect to. Now, the only thing left to do was wait.

Pepper had since started to run along the dirt trail. Leaves and fallen branches crunched deliciously under paw. There didn't seem to be any pokemon around, but she was enjoying the burn in her lungs. When she found someone she'd invite them to a friendly tussle, but until then, this forest was teeming with open space.

Pepper's mad dash continued until she stepped on an inconspicuous branch. She didn't turn to see it but she heard something shatter behind her. A bright light lit up the autumn leaves and suddenly her muscles felt stiff mid stride. When she couldn't put her weight on her outstretched leg, her body, stiff as wood, careened forward and crashed into the dirt.

She wanted to curse but even her jaw didn't feel like parting. She laid on the floor in a stiff position trying her hardest to move even a muscle. She was petrified. She thought back to the days her dad was teaching her about paralyzing effects. This didn't really match anything that he covered, and she never experienced it before. She was in a likely dangerous place with her body unable to move, and all she could feel was excitement. Bandits? Villains?! Mysterious spirits?! Whatever danger this was, she didn't plan to just go down so lamely. As soon as she could move she was going to beat up whoever was attacking her!

Sanja: {10}
Items:

The Eevee warrior was nearly bouncing with excitement, a childish wonder washing over her as she waiting impatiently for some'mon to unknowingly throw itself into her trap. She snickered mischievously as she heard the noisy treading of another creature nearby. Hurriedly, she hid behind the tree fully, waiting for the right moment to view her work.

Once the shatter and flash were over, she peeked out into the open to see what she got. A singular, vulpine Pokemon like herself laid in shock, wide-eyed and angered. Sanja couldn't help herself, and let out a snort before guffawing and falling to the ground herself.
"Aw man, you should've seen the look on your face! Too priceless," she exclaimed, still squealing with laughter. "You have no idea how much I needed that. Here, let me help you."

She padded over, spirits visibly lifted as she helped the Fennekin up with her shoulder. Her heart was still racing from the excitement, and she was overjoyed with how well the prank actually worked. As she felt her fur brush against the other fox, she suddenly wished maybe she hadn't been so impulsive. It only then occurred to her that she didn't have the proper inventory to help cure the Pokemon of her paralysis. Truth be told, she didn't expect anything but feral Pokemon to have ended up in this forest, but now she had to face the consequences of her actions. Not that she'd ever show or admit to it, though.

These bandits were going to be surprised when they didn't find anything on her. She traveled light when going to new places. The only thing these guys were gonna find was a fight! A bit of her excitement died out when the a mirthful foxlike pokemon started literally rolling on the floor in laughter. She suspected a trickster pokemon but was curious to see the familiar tonal brown's of an eevee in her peripheral vision.

"Aw man, you should've seen the look on your face! Too priceless,"

Pepper picked up a faint footfall approaching her. When the footsteps got louder she felt the presence of only one pokemon. She felt soft fur brush against her own and soon enough she was on her feet. Thankfully she could put weight on her toes and she didn't tumble back over. From her standing position she could glance sidelong at the offending Eevee. She was smiling happily at her and seemed to be visibly happy to meet Pepper.

The muscles in Pepper's managed to loosen slightly and pepper turned her gaze fully onto the vixen supporting her. She thought about what had happened. This seemed to be some kind of prank, based on how willing the eevee was to help her after trapping her in paralysis. A small smile crossed her face. Eevee had had her fun, she would have no reason to complain if Pepper had her own fun too. After all, that was the plan!

"My turn" She growled playfully

Pepper's tail seemed to be the first thing that she could control well. At the moment it was wagging but there was no better way to start a spar than with a whap of the tail! Unfortunately for Pepper the motions she needed to perform for a tail whip were too much for her paralyzed muscles. All Pepper managed to do was lean into Sanja and lightly wag her tail against her.

Sanja: {10}
Items:

Truthfully, Sanja had never experienced Paralysis. She had always been on the move her whole life, so she couldn't imagine being still for even a moment. With such an accidental lack of empathy for the Fennekin's situation, for the fox to have fallen back onto the Eevee was something she didn't fully expect. After such a spirited response, too, it was almost shocking to have such a soft touch. All it reminded Sanja of was her Clan's ways of displaying physical affection.

Suddenly embarrassed, the normal type's fur bristled as her ears grew hot. She brushed off her sudden heart racing with a comment:
"Ah, w-well. I guess I should help find you something to cure that paralysis, huh?"
Quite uncharacteristically from her usual cocky confidence, Sanja felt strangely awkward and uncertain. If the Pokemon could barely move, would that mean she'd have to carry her? Perhaps she really didn't think anything through, since she now felt responsible for an immobile Pokemon. In her anxious rush of thoughts, she curled her claws in and out of the dirt beneath her paws subconsciously, stuck in her mind.

Ah, what am I thinking. I haven't even introduced myself. With a surge of focus and determination, Sanja managed to finally open her jaws and say something to the Pokemon who's side was resting on her flank.

"I'm... Sanja," she sputtered, quickly embarrassed again by her unusual tone. She huffed, took a subtle breath, and reset her tone. "Nice ta meet ya!"

Oh now you just sound overly proud... Good work, me...

A low growl rumbled in Pepper's chest! She had never liked slow introductions, she liked meeting pokemon with a good old fashioned move! She felt so frustrated that she couldn't even greet this eevee how she greeted other pokemon. For a moment she thought Sanja might have even been okay with a fun little play fight. But there was no way she'd be able to fight like this!

At least now she had her attacker's name. Sanja huh? It sounded funny to her. Her big ear's twitched at the sound of her name and ticked against Eevee's soft ears. Pepper would have been embarrassed as well if she didn't feel so frustrated about not being able to move very well. Well, she wasn't going to leave Sanja waiting. She wanted people to tell legends about her, she might as well start spreading her name.

"My name is Pepper, and I'm gonna become a legendary pokemon!"

Pepper didn't really consider how confusing her sentence sounded. She looked around the immediate vicinity scanning the forest floor for any signs of something that could help. That is until she noticed something odd. Wherever Sanja's fur met her own, it seemed like she could feel the dull numbness fade away. Maybe with enough contact she could break the paralysis.

"Hey Sanja, your fur makes me feel warmer wherever you touch!" Pepper smiled wide, if this worked than she'd be able to fight and be free of this paralysis all at once! "I have an idea... Hit me, maybe the shock will let me move again!"

Sanja: {10 - 9 = 1}
Items:

The fox's playful purr rippled through the air and her ears flicked against her fur. Sanja knew that ears always felt so much softer, but the Fennekin's tufted tips tickled her own, sending a chill down her spine. The fire type's cheerful proclamation resonated in her own heart, as it reminded her of her own aspirations. Her life goal has always been "be the best" "outshine the rest" in regards to speed, and this one had a similar fire.

Actually, it was surprising how comfortable Sanja felt around the fire type in the first place. Odds are, she knows a fire-type move and being in a forest setting and all, it could easily become the Eevee's tragic past all over again. There was just some strange, homey familiarity of the fellow fox that set her at ease and reminded her of her old life. After all, it had been a while that the Evolution Pokemon had seen another vulpine mammal other than herself.

As her new companion suddenly commented on her fur, she was sent right back into her flustered self, and she absolutely despised this. Yet the embarrassed gal still managed to look into the Fennekin's shining eyes as she suggested Sanja's next course of action.
"Hit you? To help your paralysis? I mean, maybe it could work, but..."

Before she could finish her sentence, the Eevee's eyes went wide and she spun her head tensely, ears perked and direct. A fluttering Beautifly suddenly showed its ugly face before the two, and mindlessly prepared to attack. Sanja almost scoffed at the sight of the insect. As alert and prepared as she was to handle any problem, a bug type truly was no match for her at all.

"Look alive," the battle-ready vixen commanded, stopping herself before habitually saying "babe". "Nothing gets the blood pumping like a good old battle! That'll help for sure!"

Sanja shouted excitedly and charged right in without hesitation, ready to take on anything the floating 'mon had in store. Finally, something else to focus on, the Eevee rejoiced silently. Not to mention, this was the perfect opportunity to prove her awesomeness to her warm new friend, and no better way to do so in a feat of strength that simultaneously showed off her speed. She launched herself with a Tackle directly at the bug's body, tearing into the sky and pushing it to the ground with a thud. Growling under her breath, Sanja was thrilled for some excitement to finally arrive at her door. No more feelings, just action. Just the way she liked it.

[Energy 8 - 6 = 2]

"Nothing gets the blood pumping like a good old battle! That'll help for sure!"

Pepper, normally would have been on the exact same page as the eager eevee, but her muscles were too stiff to jump into action like her newfound acquaintance. After watching Sanja knock over the bug like it was no one's business Pepper's interest in brawling with the girl doubled. She would be an interesting fight for sure! The Beautifly was at down to ground level, but Pepper was still frightfully paralyzed.

"Wow, why don't you leave some for the rest of us!" She smiled wide and her tail wagged slightly behind her.

Suddenly a lumbering shape creeped out of the woods. A menacing Ursaring towered over the Eevee and Beautifly. Pepper couldn't move from her position, but she shouted out a desperate warning! "SANJA LOOK OUT!"

The Ursaring pulled it's arm back into a wide arc. Pepper, fearing for her new friend, did the only thing she could from this distance. She let out a cry and spit live embers at the bear. They crashed against it's body and left singed fur in their wake. The Bear growled and let out a deafening roar. Pepper leaned down and covered her sensitive ears with her paws, she was feeling shaken.

The Ursaring changed targets and started charging at the partially stunned flame fox.

Sanja: {1 + Wish}
Items:

In the middle of her tussle with the flying insect, Sanja readied her hindquarters to pounce at the Beautifly trying to regain its bearings, like a kitten playing with a stray leaf. She waved her tail excitedly, only taking the Fennekin's demand as further encouragement. Just as she was about to pounce, a sudden scream shot through fur as she whipped around in shock to see the towering beast and the sudden flame from behind, spinning bad memories back into the young Eevee's mind. Now she'd achieved her own form of paralysis, the world around her blurring as the angered Ursaring wheeled around to attack the fire fox. Everything just felt surreal.

Suddenly sensing the urgency, Sanja quickly pinned the butterfly to the nearest tree and clawed its wings to the bark, ready to abandon her own battle to help her newfound companion. She dashed behind the bear and flung herself onto its back, digging her claws into its thick, fatty skin. Still in shock, the smaller normal type muscle's just seemed to have moved on their own while her mind still felt trapped in a fog. Only when she became aware she was clinging to the back of a giant, terrifyingly dangerous Pokemon did she finally snap out of it and come to a realization of what she'd done. Straining her claws, she climbed up further until she could peer over the confused bear's shoulder to make sure Pepper was okay. She managed to bear a hopeful grin before the chaos ensued.

The utterly enraged hibernation Pokemon began thrashing about, roaring and desperately trying to grab Sanja off its back. However, with Sanja's position and the length of the bear's arms, it couldn't reach and continued stumbling backward, raging and growling at the impossibility of the task. Sanja whipped her head around, spotting the tree the Ursaring was headed straight for and readied herself to escape at just the right time. The Eevee pushed off its shoulder's and bounded off the beast's head with finesse, landing hard on the ground and whirling around to see if her plan worked. Sure enough, their enemy had stumbled right into the tree, squashing the stuck Beautifly right where it lay. Rubbing its head in pain and confusion, the tall Pokemon sat disoriented as Sanja dashed back over to her friend.

"Aw jeez, you alright there?" Padding over, the Eevee kept her ears pressed back to keep aware of the feral behind her in case it thought of rearing back and attacking again. As far as she could tell, it was still gaining its bearing. A pang of sharp guilt still stung at Sanja's heart as she looked upon the other fox, lying uselessly on the ground. The normal type sat back and closed her eyes, reaching the back of her mind for a Wish.

Please... Let me find something to cure Pepper of paralysis... If that's even possible...

PostSubject: Re: Barking up the wrong tree (open)    Barking up the wrong tree (open) EmptyWed Jan 16, 2019 8:06 am

Pepper watched in amazement as the small brown fox pulled off acrobatics that she hadn't even considered trying. Sanja was quick and cunning but the ursine was too big to spook off with just a few bumps and a small ember. The embers had since gone out, but patches of the ursine's fur were missing. In their place seared skin bubbled up causing the bear it's fair share of pain.

The bug pokemon probably didn't do well under the full weight of such a large pokemon. Pepper didn't want to see what was on the other side of that bear when it came to. Pepper's movements were sluggish and she knew that there wouldn't be any way for her to fight it off or run away if it came to it. She raised her head and pouted thankful to be out of the way, but frustrated that she couldn't fight too! "I'm good, I just wish I could join you. You look like you're having fun..." This probably wasn't a good time for jokes, but something about the confidence that Sanja had made Pepper assured that they'd get out of this fine.

The Ursaring shook it's head with a growl and looked at the two vixen's casually having a conversation.  It lumbered forward and opened it's mouth, collecting energy. That's a hyperbeam! I have to do something! Pepper forced her stunned muscles to move. It wasn't very fast but with everything she had in her she jumped past Sanja and let out another ember directly at an oncoming beam of energy.

Her ember collided with the beam and blew up a cloud of smoke. Her ember was nowhere near strong enough to stop the beam, but the interference and the Ursaring's already damaged state made it so when the smoke settled, Pepper was still standing. She was covered in knicks and knocked up dirt but she faced down the raging Ursaring with a fire in her eyes. Pepper hoped sanja didn't get caught in the blast. The only upside to taking that attack almost directly was that it snapped her out of paralysis. However she was fairly injured.

A low growl escaped her throat, and she stretched her muscles. "Sanja, if you're okay how about we chase off a dumb bear!

The Ursaring thinking that it only had to deal with weakened mon decided to charge headlong at the small foxes. Pepper was ready this time however, and ducked to the side smacking the bear with her tail on the way out.

Sanja: {1 + 3 (Wish) = 4}
Items:

Relieved to hear Pepper was okay, Sanja smiled genuinely, a small glitter of hope shining in her eyes as she gazed at the grinning Fennekin. There was no time to drop her guard, however, entering a defensive position with her head low to the ground and ears pinned back as she turned to face the wild Ursaring. There was no way she was about to let a terrible old Pokemon touch her newest friend. Her fur bristled, not from the situation, but from realizing how quickly she had come to trust the fox. There was just a small trace of doubt in her mind that this was someone she could truly trust, but there was no time to worry. She must take life one battle at a time.

Though once caught in her thoughts, Sanja suddenly snapped to attention as the bear's attack and a measly Ember exploded with energy. A damaged Pepper stood before the Eevee with fur blowing back from the powerful impact. Somehow, she was still standing, and the awe-struck companion behind her met her eyes once again as the fiery spirit proposed a finale to this fiasco. With a toothy grin, Sanja bowed in agreement, readied her muscles, and dashed alongside her furry friend toward their common enemy. Watching Pepper weave through the towering beast inspired Sanja's own fancy footwork, bouncing speedily back and forth in a zig-zag fashion and leaped up to the bear's circular spot, smacking it violently in the chest before retreating.

The easiest part about fighting a large enemy was that it was guaranteed to be much, much slower than the self-trained speed demon. However, if it managed to land a single hit, it could be devastating to these two basic Pokemon. Truly, even with two-on-one, they were still no match for a fully evolved monster, who was undoubtedly more powerful than anything Sanja had to face back at her camp. Though daunting circumstances, she knew she couldn't back down, especially not in front of this Fennekin. What kind of impression would that leave?

Her determination filled her with a sudden burst of energy, and then she remembered—her Wish. Taking on multiple Pokemon at once had been tiring, but now she felt able to finish off this enemy; whether or not this was within possibility, Sanja was confident enough to take the Ursus on her own, setting free a deeply engraved combative nature in her soul as she rocketed forth for another attack. Truly nothing could stop her now, especially as she was ready to fight twice as hard and find a cure for her comrade.
