Wonderful Treasures

Opal had heard wonderful things about this mountain. It looked like it was made of impressive black stone, and all sorts of treasures were supposed to lie within. The gossip was so tempting to a young pup like her. She just had to go to this place and see for herself! Luckily, she'd met a like-minded pokemon to travel with. It had been a long journey to get here, but the companionship made it far more bearable. Enjoyable, even.

The black mist that gave this mountain its name was something the Growlithe didn't feel too fondly about. She pressed on, however. What kind of explorer would she be if she only ever went to Pecha Forest? No, she was meant for greater things than that, and so was her companion if they'd made it this far.

When they entered the mountain, Opal looked around. She was learning that it was important to watch out for potential danger, and in a place like this, it could be anywhere. What would be a real treasure to find, though, was... well, treasure. Signs of it. Her nose went to work right away, sniffing for clues on what this mystery dungeon contained.

The drop to the floor hurt Opal a little, but it also shocked her back to reality. It felt painful to move, but the growlithe reckoned she'd be fine with time. She groaned and stretched out, trying to get her muscles to stop feeling so stiff and sore. It looked like her attacker had been disabled, which was good. If she could just shift herself into position, she would be able to help take it down with another usage of Ember.

While she was still lying down, Opal caught a glimpse of the toothy mightyena preparing to make a strike against Raptor. "Watch out!" she warned, "The noisy one's coming back around!"

The Toothy Mightyena came charging back around with it's lips curled up and it's fangs glinting in what little light there was to reflect in the cave, looking enraged at the apparent "defeat" of it's companion. It had it's sights trained directly on Raptor, the last aggressor who had dealt damage to their partner and in it's mind the aggressive danger. Seeing the other two being present at it's approach made it stop and hesitate, however. In a sudden twist, it stayed at a distance and instead began to make a sound deep in the back of it's throat.

Raptor was already preparing to launch another Rock Throw at the Scary mightyena as Opal yelled to warn him of the other attack, and he found himself stuck in place. He could hear the sounds the Toothy mightyena was making and had an instant realization of what the move it was preparing was. It had attacked him with it not long before this; it had impressive range and he was certain that the damage from it might bleed off onto the others. Helpless, he could only call back to the other two, "Get ready!!! It has a ranged attack, I can't dodge it!!!"

Adrol knew he had to do something about this. No... he knew he could do something about this. He had been born with a special ability that countered exactly these kinds of situations. It had been his job more than once in his previous travels to take care of situations exactly like this one. But, with Opal incapacitated... what was he to do? Should he venture out into the dark, where he had no range of sense? Well, that wasn't true... He had used his hearing to navigate plenty of times!!! There was no time to think about it any other way!! If he didn't act, Raptor would be subjected to the brunt of the attack, and worse - his own attack could fall on him!!

With no further hesitation, Adrol jumped off of Opal's back and dashed between Raptor and the Toothy mightyena. He closed his eyes and focused inside himself as the large dog built up it's sonic attack, centering his emotions and tapping into that power that he had lost touch with long ago. It was his heritage. He had an innate connection to it. He just had to call it forth!!

"Please... I require your assistance once again!"

All at once, Adrol's body lit up with a soft magic hue that began to radiate outwards. It created a sphere of dim, gentle light that illuminated the near vicinity - the mightyenas, Opal, Raptor - and for a time made it slightly easier to see. The Toothy mightyena rescted immediately and agressively. It released the massive snarl that had been building inside of its chest, hoping to cut off the attack it thought Adrol to be preparing. The wave of sound burst towards Adrol in an almost visible wave, but... as it hit his energy matrix, it seemed to get... caught? The energy Adrol was releasing became distorted as the dark sound waves became visibly trapped in the magic sphere. The Toothy mightyena seemed shocked by this display, unsure of how to react to such a... strange display.

"Now... return to whence you came!!!!"

All of a sudden, Adrol's light sphere began to glow with more intensity and even vibrate the slightest bit. It concentrated around the Snarl energy and reversed it, sending a wave that was twice the size back at the Toothy Mightyena, who got smacked backwards solidly with a pained yelp. The light on Adrol's body faded back into darkness as Adrol opened his eyes and released his control.

"...Nice moves!! I see what you were talking about now!!!" Raptor called with glee as he successfully smacked the Scary mightyena with a second rock. The Scary Mightyena grunted, but remained still as if he still could not move. The seed's effect still had a hold on him, it seemed.

Adrol nodded back to him with a small smile, but he couldn't formulate words to respond with. Calling on that ability again after so long... it left him winded. For a moment, he couldn't think straight. He had to just stand there and recover himself.

Raptor, meanwhile, seemed to be completely unphased and readying a rock and aiming at the Scary mightyena. "Alright, let's finish this strong!!! Let's get this big loser!"

Enemy and Ally Stats:

Opal stared in wonder as the sphere of light materialised around Adrol's body. The growlithe was even more amazed as this sphere completely caught the waves of whatever the mightyena had unleashed upon them. What move was this, Opal wondered? She had never seen such an ability before! It was truly extraordinary!

Seeing the feral mightyena sent flying with the force of its own attack was really something. Adrol was shining in the face of adversity, and Opal felt inspired by his display of power. She remembered her own special move, and called upon it to cut off the retreat of their other foe. A small bit of flame was spat in its direction, landing underneath it and creating a tall, blazing pillar.
