| General Summary of the Suggestion: Users are able to either trade-in pokemon for a one-time-only discount-per-user towards their next character (whether in full or more likely half but up to the staff as to the exact amount). Alternatives include multiple trade-ins but significantly less poke is "awarded" for each subsequent trade-in Below includes a sort of relevant story involving reasons for me putting up this suggestion as well as some points as to why this could be a good or bad suggestion. However the general jist of it is stated above. Sorry if this an annoying or stupid question and I thank those who read for their time and consideration and the staff for their dedication ^_^ - Spoiler:
OK! Story time, I originally intended to join with a group of friends. We each would make a starter with a hidden ability, I was to make a Torchic with Speed Boost while there would also be a Contrary Snivy and Defiant Piplup made by my friends. Only that I applied before them and then they never applied. Now I am struggling to RP with Jabbers the Torchic as his counterparts and originally planned background/team never joined. Coupled with the new acceptance of X/Y characters, I feel trapped with my choice but I don't necessarily want to regret my choice.
Now normally getting a new character costs 5,000 Poke (Roughly equivalent to 250 posts - mission rewards and donations) but I would preferably start with a new character than earn Poke with a character who I plan on using less if at all once I can afford another (Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I seem to fall out of synch with Jabbers the more I roleplay as him). So I wanted to suggest the potential of being able to trade-in Pokemon, a one-time-only feature-per-member, so those who might regret their initial decision might be able to give things another shot.
Now there are flaws to this as there are to many plans, such as what if users trade-in pokemon and are still unhappy? Well at least they've have a second try or had a second chance to think things over now that they've settled with expectations and the flow of the site. Also what if a lot of users trade in there pokemon at once? And should those who've barely roleplayed be "rewarded"? There are compromises to these questions and even to the prior ones. For example, there could still be a poke cost to take advantage of this feature (Such as half-off or 2,500 towards a new character for the first time and significantly less for each subsequent time - such as only 250 poke off the second time). Also while the user would attain a new character, they would lose access to their old character as opposed to being able to keep both. It could also allow those who aren't able to visit as often a change of pace though this is probably a minor point

| I can't say I agree with this. It seems a bit...unnecessary. If you lost interest in your character as they are now, then have some events happen that change them. Like if you're tired of your character being overly optimistic head in the clouds, have a tragedy occur in front of them that shakes them into reality or break them into a pessimist. If you're character is a pessimist, then have them be forced to hang out with someone with a brighter look on life and have it slowly begin to rub off on them. If your character is too silent, have something happen that encourages them to talk more. Instead of just trashing the character completely, just do what this rp is about and do some character building. Once you reach level 10, you can adopt another character from the archives or save up enough money to buy another character. If you find that you still don't like your character, then kill it off or set it up for adoption. | |
