» Personality:
Evelyn is carefree and devil-may-care on the surface, and to an extent, that’s true. She’s rather hedonistic and has no qualms about having her fun in life. Sometimes that means flirting with the cute customer at the cafe, sometimes that means shoplifting the berries she needs to dye her tail red. That’s just how the cookie crumbles. You have to live day by day in Grima Outpost, after all.
Evelyn isn’t dumb. She knows the right and wrong people to mess with, she knows how to keep her head down and survive in a place like this. Her seemingly-careless nature hides a sharp mind that’s usually on high alert. She knows how to lie. More importantly, she knows when she can’t afford to lie. She’s stumbled, but she’s survived.
She knows that she’s rather low on the food chain, but that doesn’t stop her from honing her spite to a razor’s edge. Wrath is her fatal flaw. She’s prone to seeking revenge when she feels she’s been wronged. Her temper is slow, but it burns bright – only made worse by the fact that she’s quite slow to trust and befriend new people. She’s friendly, sure, but letting people get genuinely close to her is a different story. She’s purposefully dulled her empathy quite a bit.
It’s unpredictable even to her which people will weave their way past her walls. After she was taken in by the Desert Rose gang, she’s seen her fair share of grim sights, and she’s not easily shaken anymore. Her moral compass is best described as unpredictable. She has her lines she won’t cross, and people she’s utterly loyal to. In the end, she doesn’t like seeing people in pain, and she strays towards being good, all things being the same.
She’s not under the impression that she’s a good person, far from it, but she’s aware the world is bigger than her. She’s self-aware enough to realize that she wouldn’t have turned to crime if she wasn’t born in Grima - but that’s just life, right? She’s acutely aware of how unfair the world is, and so she strays towards making the first blow, striking before she’s the one left reeling.

Believe it or not? Evelyn loves her job. Her cover job at the cafe, anyways. It’s surprisingly peaceful when she gets to draw chocolate syrup hearts in whipped cream, and bake a few batches of donuts and cake pops. She thinks she’s pretty good at it, too. It’s a good day when she can just man the counter and chat with Rui.
She likes Rui, too. The Skiddo is her coworker, and somehow, he’s blissfully unaware that the cafe they’re working at is a front for a mafia. She thought it was an open secret. Apparently not. She thought that he was making fun of her at first and putting up an act, for a good while, but he’s so… genuinely naive, and kind, and innocent. She has no clue how Grima made someone like him.
Evelyn doesn’t necessarily like causing people pain, unless they’ve seriously wronged her - but she does like feeling like she’s in control of a situation. She hasn’t generally had a lot of control over her life, so forgive her for a power trip or two.
Evelyn is trying to raise enough money to get out of Grima Outpost, so she’s also somewhat easily bribed.
» Dislikes:
One thing Evelyn values very highly is choice. As such, any scenario where that choice is taken away from someone leaves a bitter taste in her mouth. Usually this comes up via moves like Attract, and she’d consider it a breach of trust if it were to be used on her. The prospect of evolving is also daunting to her, due to a Salazzle’s ability to control male Salandit. It isn’t a power she wants, and she’s uneasy about the idea of it being thrust upon her.
She knows some people view the Desert Rose as a family. Evelyn doesn’t. She’s using them, and they’re using her, and that’s the end of the goodwill there. They were a way of making a living, because god knows nobody was going to hire her for a real job. She tried, but, well. Now she’s just trying to scrounge up enough cash to get out of here. She hopes she’ll hit the mark soon, and she’s not above some thievery to get out of Grima Outpost.
Evelyn dislikes her real job, with whatever crimes she’s saddled with by the higher ups. Shakedowns and smuggling, usually. Don’t get her wrong, she doesn’t like being a criminal. She doesn’t take any joy in hurting people who didn’t hurt her first. But she’s resigned to the idea that this is the only way she’s realistically going to get out of here.
» History:
Evelyn doesn’t know her family history, except that somewhere along the line, someone really fucked up and ran off to Grima Outpost to hide. Fine, fair enough, but they decided to have kids there, for some godforsaken reason. A few more generations down the line, you get Evelyn, who’s pretty pissed at your ghost for getting her stuck here.
Her life’s been normal enough, for a kid born into the slums. She grew up and realized that home is a piece of shit, turned to crime when she realized that’s the only way to get by. That or marry rich, she supposes, but that’s not happening. Besides, she likes her independence.
She doesn’t know how old she was when she started working for the Desert Rose, just that she was way too young by most people’s standards. And, surprisingly? She fit in with the rest just fine. She had a sharp mind and a sharp tongue, made her way through any hazing attempts with flying colors.
One of the higher ups likes her. King was the guy’s name, some shiny Persian. Says she has a promising future. That once she evolves she can really start climbing. He even “invested” in her - his words - with a TM, to help “defend herself”. That went out the window three weeks later. The first time they took her to a dark room and told her to use her new move on the figure collapsed on the floor, breathing in shaky, strained breaths.
Evelyn did that, because you don’t piss off mafia members, especially ones that outrank you. She let her eyesight go fuzzy so she couldn’t tell what kind of pokemon it was, drowned out the ragged breathing and pained whimpers from that pokemon on the ground. Another test she passed. King laughed, said she was made of the right stuff. She smiled and thanked him and tasted bile in her mouth.
She hopes she can make it out of here before she hits the “big leagues”.
» Other:
- Knock Off is an egg move from G7, I've asked for permission to use it.
- TM Toxic was from Mada! (Thanks, man.)
