| First topic message reminder :
The water was calmer today than it had been last time, or at least it seemed that way to the dimly-colored ducklett floating on the water's surface. Simon had been here before; he had stumbled upon this dungeon by chance long ago and he had enjoyed his visit. ...Granted, his visit had been in large part focused on the struggle of a very kind Vaporeon's struggle with her fear of water, so he felt like he hadn't experienced this place to the fullest just from that one visit and the glimpses he had caught drove him to investigate further. That, and he had been made very aware of one skill that he was currently very lacking in during his last experience: swimming.
Duckletts were supposed to be incredibly adapt to swimming. He had seen his mother do dives to lake bottoms for food quite readily when he was a child, and his dad... well his dad didn't swim he was pretty sure. Regardless, he should have been quick to take to the whole "diving" thing, but when the opportunity approached him he had still opted to float. How silly was that? Simon felt a little ashamed every time he thought about it. When testing himself in the small pond, he had found his small lung capacity to be only a fraction of the incredible lengths that his mother could manage. He wore himself down fairly quickly when he dove. When he saw that, he began to feel as if he was letting her down. He didn't feel right just letting it go; he was supposed to be good at swimming. This was his mission now: to train himself in water and hone his natural talent.
Simon really felt at peace in this dungeon, even perhaps on a comparable level to the peace he felt at home. He had to try and ignore the incredibly pronounced feeling of loneliness while he was out here, however. On land, he was fairly content with being alone. He missed having friends, but there was always another pokemon around in his vicinity to give him hope. There was typically someone near enough for him to him to feel like there was a chance to meet someone.
Out in the ocean, however... the area was far less populated, at least on the surface. There just weren't pokemon out here, and those that were there were inaccessible to him because of how he had left his abilities neglected. Here he really had solitude, and it was a fairly large concept to grasp. ...So he didn't grasp it just yet. Instead, he focused on his diving practice. It began with deep breathing like his mother had taught him, to open up his lungs. He needed to be at his very peak capacity before he tried to go under the surface. Once he felt like he was comfortable, he gave his wings a few test flaps. His mother had instructed him that he really didn't need to use his wings for a casual swim, although he could beat them once or twice for a quick boost of speed or a change of direction. More importantly, they were useful for getting him under the water's surface in the first place.
"Fly into your dive.... but don't have too sharp of an angle, don't make a brunt impact..." Simon repeated to himself in his head. He lifted himself out of the water and caught the wind with a few wingbeats, still not entirely sure he understood what all of that meant. His mother had said it would be a skill that came with practice, so he assumed that it would become clearer when he tried it.
And he tried it.
He dove through the air from a relatively low height, keeping himself angled by ungracefully fanning and retracting his wings. He couldn't get a grip on what felt right, but he did at least have a sensation of what was too much and what was too little. Especally when his shallow angle caused him to catch the water's surface and skim a few feet rather than actually peirce it. Ow. He had to recover himself for a moment after that. It had been a disappointing first go, but Simon supposed that it had kind of been a cool thing to pull off by it's own right. He had also learned something about the process - another good twist. He just needed to try again.
This time, he managed to get into the water... although a bit crudely and definitely with the impact he was trying to avoid. Simon understood what his mother had been talking about now; already he had halved the stamina he had come down with. He had made it though, he supposed. He wasn't too deep yet, but already he could see the beautiful corals that the place was named for. Since he was down here, he figured he could use the opportunity to get a grip on his bearings.

| The otter shouldn’t really speak, right now, as his lungs burned heavily with them being quite empty. However, not talking would be more worrying.”I... I used... a Trawl Orb... That brings items...” He was interrupted by the Horsea, looking over to it...
It did make him worry that their new location is seaweed, as they might acciidentally be grabbed, once again. And at the otter’s current air, that most likely would be the end if them. But there was no other options to avoid being attacked by the Carvanha... He swam into the seaweed quickly...
He looks outside slowly to see the Carvanha look around. “Where are you...” It called out, trying to keep hidden. The Oshawott tried not to give himself away, but due to the Skrelp’s earlier attack... ”M... Mmph... blrm...” He was close to crying for breath, hoping the Horsea would help fill his empty chest. Before it’s too late...

| It was honestly a relief to be out of the open water for a while. With the Horsea not making any negative advances on them, Simon felt that he could let himself relax just a bit. Only a bit, though, as he could still hear the Carvanha nearby, calling out and generally being ominous. It was enough to make the feathers on Simon's back crawl. He was already tired. He had wasted a lot of energy thrashing around and fighting that Skrelp… and not to mention, his chest was burning. He looked over and saw Tempo was in desperate need as well. Both of them were struggling... but surfacing was not an option with that brutish thief still on their tales. He completely lost the calm that he had just allowed himself a moment ago. Were they going to drown down here?! He had never meant for this to happen on a light-hearted excursion... He turned to the Horsea pleadingly, who at this point had been allowing the two adventurers time to recover. " Hey, you helped us before... Please, do you know if we can find air down here somewhere?" he begged in a whisper, using his own dwindling supply. The Horsea seemed to have expected this. She stepped up immediately and nodded. "Say no more. I can help," she whispered back. "I know Bubble, I can give you some air using that. Just... try to catch them as quickly as possible!! If they start to float too high they could give away our position!" She made sure that both Simon and Tempo were ready, and then sent a few bubbles of fresh air their way. Simon gladly gulped up enough bubbles to fill his lungs, savoring the feeling of having fresh air fill his chest once more. It had been very close... what would they have done if this Horsea hadn't shown up?!? " Thank you!!" he whispered estatically. The Horsea nodded kindly, limiting the amount of talking she was doing with a dangerous predator in the area. "Come on, we need to get out of here! This seaweed bed goes all the way to the edge of a shallow underwater canyon, we can sneak there and get away if we're cautious." Simon nodded. It seemed like the best plan at this point. He turned around to check on Tempo's condition before going anywhere, though. " Are you okay to go, Tempo? Can you make it?" | The Oshawott was quite desperate for breath, now, kicking and just about crying for help... which is why his ears perked up when he heard the Horsea mention he can give them air. It's relieving to the otter, but only a little. After he gasps for breath with the bubbles, his face changed from strain to relief, his lungs once again filled with fresh air. "Thanks..." He whispers to the Horsea after getting his air. As relieving as air was to him, he's still exhausted from their encounter, but his rest did allow him to regain a little energy. Enough to swim out and follow the Horsea. They needed to hurry, though. Even with a seemingly limitless supply of air, the Horsea could still grow too tired to use Bubble. Not to mention the more they get air, the more likely their lungs will tire out, too... "I'll watch our backs, you go on ahead, alright?" He whispered to them as he headed out. | Simon also followed the Horsea through the seaweed with the same amount of urgency, but all the time it was hard to focus with the looming threat of the above him. He tried to be as quiet as he could possibly be while still moving fast, but honestly he could only hope that it was enough. A couple of times, it seemed like the angry fish had passed just above his head, which was enough to make Simon's heart race in fear and it made it so much harder for him to actually keep quiet. All of the stress building up in the back of his throat was just barely being held back, and every spike in his blood pressure made it that much worse.
Fortunately (?) for Simon and the other two pokemon, another seedy-looking Skrelp came up to the Carvanha as he patrolled around looking for them, looking rather quite pissed at the fish's intrusion. "What exactly are you doing here?" she demanded, "This isn't your spot. Get back to where you belong!!"
The Carvanha bared his fangs back at her. "Lighten up, would ya? I'm trying to finish a score that started on my ground!! Plus I have a revenge exception because my partner got knocked out, so cool your freakin' jets."
The Skrelp most certainly did not cool her jets; in fact, she proceeded to get more frustrated. "That's not how it works, you dunce!! This whole "rule" thing is convoluted as hell and nobody actually uses it. It's not fair! Finder's keepers is the only real rule, so step off and get out unless you want trouble."
As it turned out, the Carvanha did want trouble. The two thieving pokemon proceeded to get into a large fight that allowed Simon, Tempo, and the Horsea the perfect widow to escape through the seaweed and into the nearby canyon. It was actually quite calm and serene in the deeper area. Despite the depth, the water was actually slightly warmer thanks to a small current passing through the landmark that carried warmth from shallower areas into the depth. Even here, the "trees" of coral grew on the walls and filled the bottom of the canyon, masking it's true depth. The Horsea sighed in relief as they finally decended into this tranquil zone.
"My apologies for what happened to you... Unfortunately, the forests have been slightly overrun with those types these days..." she explained with apologetic regret. "There are lots of good items to find around here... which usually attracts explorers, but it also very much attracts thieves who exploit those explorers so that they don't have to do the work themselves..." She sighed, but she did not slow down. "Even though we've made it here, we should keep moving. There are more friendly pokemon down here, but they're a bit down the way and it wouldn't be unlike the thieves to risk coming down here to find you. There are some vents down here that release bubbles should you need more air an I can't reach you, so that's helpful~"
"Oh, okay," Simon agreed, though he was a bit dismayed. He had honestly been looking forward to the opportunity to rest. That being said he also didn't want to have another run-in with the crook up top, nor did he want to have a first encounter with the crook that was fighting him. So he followed along, trying to visually confirm those vents that the Horsea had been talking about along the seafloor. "So... those thieving pokemon are a common occurrence around here?" he asked her before adding, "O-oh! And I forgot to say; My name's Simon! Thank you for rescuing us!"
The Horsea turned her head as much as she could and smiled. "My name's River. Don't worry about that, we do what we can~ As for the thieves... well, honestly, it's been worse than it ever has."

| On the way through, however, one piece grabs a hold of the Oshawott’s leg. Not only is the threat of the theieves and drowning still present, now he can’t move! It took all his willpower to not scream for help, but... he notices it was... making him more energized? After a while, it let go. Was this what the Ducklett encountered...? Wait, he needed to catch up to his friends... He swam up to the group quickly.
[+5 Emergy: 5 Total]
Just in time, too! The Horsea gave an explanation to what when wrong. “I... can understand that, honestly. I found some cool things last time I was here. When... I wasn’t scared for my life... I’m Tempo. Nice to meet you!” The otter finished. But now what do they do? Should they try and bail for the surface or hide out? If they stay and grow too exhausted, they’ll drown... But if they’re caught on the way to the surface... He looks over to Simon. ”Should we head out of this ocean? I’ve been swimming enough to know that even with a steady supply of air, eventually our lungs will grow too exhausted to continue...”

| River nodded in Tempo's direction. "Yes, the ocean holds many treasures. They say all rivers flow into the sea! My name is a pun on that, actually," she chuckled. "Unfortunately, that's also why there are many greedy types here. Being surrounded by a constant stream of replenishing treasures seems to bring the worst in pokemon... and many believe that anything that falls into the ocean is rightfully theirs. I don't believe that, though! There are many pokemon here that don't believe that, especially down here in the trenches."
As they descended deeper into the trench, more colorful coral reached up and out of the rocks. It glinted and glistened in the sunlight streaming down from the water's surface; looking quite beautiful. Traveling just a little further started to reveal strange constructions like little tents built in the space between the corals and the rocky walls. A luvdisk poked out of one cautiously before emerging fully to nibble on seaweed, indicating that some pokemon seemed to live in these. A Binacle nearby swayed peacefully in the current. The atmosphere was certainly calmer in these parts; Simon found he was already loosing the stress from the earlier encounter with the ruffians. He was surprised that Tempo wanted to leave so soon! "Are you sure you want to leave already??" he asked, a bit disheartened. "It's true we need air... but this place seems much nicer and safe to explore... and we would have to swim through more open water to get to the surface..."
River looked perplexed. "Yes, it must be hard for you two to explore down here..." she mused sadly. "But... You shouldn't feel like you have to leave! Maybe I can help you? I can certainly give you air bubbles when you need them!!" She offered a few to them to make her point. "Anybody in my family can, potentially. The Seadra and Kingdra can as well! Most of them are friendly."
While waiting for Tempo's reply, Simon noticed something on the rocky cliff face. A small red... box? What was that doing there? He swam over to have a look. It was awfully sand, as if it had been resting there a while. Simon couldn't find a name or anything on it as he turned it over. Ah, maybe River would know! "What is this, River? Do you think somebody lost it?"
River shook her head. "I doubt it. That's a treasure box; they turn up down here from time to time! They're odd. We can't get them open by normal means, so we mostly ignore them. Explorers seem to like them, though. I hear there could be any kind of item inside them. They kind of collect down in the trench sometimes as they drift in the current."
A treasure box??? Simon looked at the box with newfound awe. "Anything could be inside here? Wow! Come to mention it, I think my mom used to find them too. In fact.... yeah! I remember she used to sell them to someone!!" Simon was still certainly nervous about the conditions in the waters down here, but he knew how his mom used to like this item.... maybe he could find some for her before he returned home!! His father had been away for much longer than usual now, and he imagined the extra money might help. "If these boxes fall down here a lot... maybe we could just stay long enough to look for a few? What do you think, Tempo?"

| That's... horrible... I really like swimming down here, even without the treasures, honestly. Meeting new Pokemon like you and Simon is especially nice!" He replied to the Horsea with a smile. "I'm sad, though, that every time I swim in the ocean, I put my life in danger, in more ways than one." The otter would look a bit depressed saying that, but shook it off. He listened to rest of their response to the Oshawott's paranoia about drowning. It is true that they have a steady supply of air from their friend, yeah, but that would mean disaster if they were separated by anything. "Mystery Dungeons are fickle things, though. Even with your ability to help us, it won't mean anything if we encounter something and we can't escape. So... keep on your toes. Or... tail."He didn't notice the Treasure Box Simon found, simply swimming around to see if he can find anything of his own. His ears twitched when Simon asked about finding more Treasure Boxes. "We can, but those things can be hard to carry, and we can only carry so many. You have no idea how many I found..." | There was just no way around it, Simon supposed. Their need for air was... a huge hurdle. As nice as River was, she certainly had her own things to do and there was no way that they could expect her to escort them through their entire visit to the dungeon. She had said that there might be other pokemon willing to help them around, though... wasn't that enough of a reason to try? His strange looks tended to dissuade other pokemon from approaching him... but he didn't typically have problems approaching pokemon when they were friendly! Maybe it was a bad idea, but he really wanted to try.
"I know... I know it's going to be hard. I came down here to try and get better, though, so I think I want to keep trying," Simon persisted. "I don't want you to feel like you have to stay, though... You don't have to keep going if you feel uncomfortable!" Simon had to agree with Tempo when it came to the treasure boxes, however. "They are pretty... blocky. My bag is flexible, though; I think it can hold at least a few! It holds more than you might think!"
River gave them both an empathetic look. "Well... if it's any consolation, I'll stay with you as long as I can! I live around here, so it wouldn't be any trouble for me to take you around a bit longer!" They seemed like decent enough pokemon, albeit a bit clueless. She had seen many newer explorers come through and get lost or attacked when they were unfamiliar with the area. She could at least ensure that they stayed in an area that was safer for them if she helped them out. That made her happy, at the very least. "I could think of a few things you could help me out with, if you wanted - Hey, that's not a bad idea! There are plenty of pokemon in the trench that need some help. If you stay longer than I can stay with you, you could always get help by doing favors!"
Simon smiled. "That's not a bad idea at all! I can't see a downside to helping out," he responded excitedly. "What do you think, Tem- ?" As he turned to get Tempo's opinion, Simon noticed that the oshawott had become distracted by something. "- Tempo? Do you see something? What's up?"

| He didn’t notice them talking about how they were going to go about things, but he did see something that... worried him. A Carracosta swimming around with panicked strokes. ”Crap! River! Simon! Hurry!” He called out to them, swimming down to the drowning Carracosta. It couldn’t even speak, right now, showing how long he’s been down for. ”Everything will be OK...” The otter reassured. ”A friend knows bubble... and she can give you-“ Before Tempo could finish, the Carracosta lets out a small cloud of bubbles, holding its flippers over its mouth.
Tempo didn’t know what else to do. All he could see where a few seeds and a TM nearby, neither of which would help a drowning victim. The surface was also out of the question, for obvious reasons. Almost out of desperation to help, the otter swam up to the turtle’s face and tried to blow a few bubbles, like River did, and while it did help, it was hardly efficient. The Carracosta held the Oshawott to help him stay calm during their wait. “I... hope you’re right... and help is coming...” It weakly said to the worried Oshawott.

| Suddenly everything was happening all at once - again. Simon's heart jumped into a panic as his eyes finally caught on to what Tempo was seeing. This time, they weren't the ones in trouble. The large turtle pokemon appeared to be struggling to lift himself from the lower waters of the trench. Something definitely seemed very wrong. Simon's mind became a blurry haze as he began to dive deeper, crying out for River behind him on his way down.
"Oh gosh!!!" Simon cried weakly as he tried to find anything that he could do to help. He tried to swim upwards under the carracoasta's head in an attempt to keep it up towards River's bubbles nearby, but he found he was far too weak to make any meaningful impact on the larger pokemon's body. The weight was overwhelming... but there was something else as well. It almost felt like a wind... a wind underwater. It felt like the water was pressing the carracoasta down onto Simon even harder than just the pokemon's weight was. He could feel both their bodies being carried gently by it as they drifted down below.
River was also cautioning strongly against this action. "Hey! Don't do that!" she warned Simon in between blasts of air at close range. "He's heavy - and there's a current down here! If he keeps floating down you'll be pinned under him on the seabed!" She continued to provide air, but she found that it was much harder to keep her bubbles trained on the carracoasta's mouth the lower they drifted into the current. She knew that they almost certainly were going to need more help, but she couldn't leave while the carracoasta was too weak to fight the current.
Simon panicked again and swam out from underneath the large blue turtle. Sure enough, he could feel a steady gently stream of warm water passing through his feathers that the larger body had been previously blocking him from feeling. "Oh no... So the current is pushing him lower?? Are we in danger of being swept up??" the ducklett asked frantically.
"No, that's not likely. It's a very steady current, and it's not liable to affect us at this depth," River explained with a serious, albeit unsure, look on her face. "Thoarn's body is very weak right now, though. I don't think he has the power to fight it; that's why he's stuck. We definitely need help!" She and Simon both looked around for anyone who seemed like they could help them. In his his panic, Simon only saw rocks. As River was a local, however, she knew that some of those rocks stood out amongst the others. "Barney!!!" she suddenly called, and two faces poked their heads out in response. It was a binacle that had made a body out of a broken piece of the rock shelf - presumably to take advantage of the good filter feeding and hunting that the constant flow of water provided. "Barney, we have an emergancy!!! Send out a signal - we need help!!"
Barney's eyes' bulged as they realized what was going on, and they quickly began to gather up the rocks resting around them. The rocks began to glow with a strange power as they were touched by the binacle, and then they were flung like missles at high speeds towards the surface. They slowed to a stop and began to slowly float downwards, hanging in the water above them like a glowing beacon marking their presence to anyone nearby who was watching.

| The more time that passes, the deeper the in peril water types were... At least Simon was there to help, even if he couldn’t truly help. “Ducklett... Get out before...” The Carracosta said to Simon, but soon focused on River and her air bubbles. He took in as much as he could, and began to feel a lot better with fresh air. However, it won’t last forever, and with the current still in their way...
Tempo began to grow a bit more desperate as time went on, since he wasted most of it trying to help the drowning Carracosta up. ”Mm... rmph... I... I wanna...” The otter said, a very slight bluish hue showing up on his cheeks. “Stay calm... River!” Carracosta called out, adjusting the drowning Oshawott to be in range of River’s air. As he did, however, two Blinker Seeds flew in and hit the two, causing them to let go of each other and get blinded...
As the blinded and nearly drowned Oshawott flew through the current, another friendly Pokemon swam by. It was a Lanturn, although Tempo couldn’t see anything but the bright light of its bulb. “Good thing I was here... Don’t worry, I’m a friend... Just... stay calm...” It said, using Aqua Ring to soothe Tempo’s bursting lungs. ”M... rmph...” Unfortunately, it’s not giving air, making it only a very temporary solution.
Meanwhile, Carracosta, drifted across the seafloor for a bit, trying to shake off the shock of the Blinker Seed. “Nngh... Oshawott? Ducklett? River? Anyone?” He called out, looking around despite his current condition. “I... I can’t see anything right now! Where am I?” His blinded vision suddenly grew bright. “I’m here, Carracosta! I... am currently occupied, though, helping this Oshawott, bu-“ “Oshawott? Here, give it to me!” Carracksta interrupted, but the Lanturn gave the otter to the turtle... “I wish I knew Bubble Beam, right now, but I forgot it a long time ago...” Lanturn said. Carracosta didn’t see what else to do, so he patted around for the otter’s face and soon pulled him in to give some air to the otter’s hungry lungs.
Mmmrmph... Mrmph?”The otter seemed confused for a bit, until he realized what’s happening. He let go with some relieving air in his lungs. “You feel better? I didn’t know what else to do, so...” Carracosta said before Tempo interrupted him. ”No, I understand, and I thank you for helping. But none of it matters until we reach air.” He replied. “I saw a signal in the distance! I think they can help you!” Lanturn said. “I’ll get their attention!” He then swam off, leaving the turtle and otter to themselves down in the depths.

| There was no end to the sudden rush of panic that had ensued from Tempo’s discovery of the Carracoasta. The signal flare from the Binacle caused a large crowd of Pokémon to begin gathering around - some in interest, others in fear as they tried to assess what was going on. An Alomomola drifted by and observed, but didn’t make any large efforts to immediately jump in to help. Two seadra and two kingdra began swimming towards the signal rocks frantically. And then, there were a few less desired forms of attention...
While all of this was taking place, Simon was hurriedly scouring the walls for anything that looked like it might be useful to them. If a treasure box had made it’s way down here, maybe there was something like a seed for strength - or even a.... berry! Yes, berries!!! Simon quickly swam over to the boot of green and yellow resting gently on a rock. He realized as he took them that neither of them would help the situation, however... drowning wasn’t a status effect. He also found something like... a twig? He wasn’t sure how it could be useful, but he took it to be sure. He didn’t want to leave it behind and miss it later...
Other items, other items... oh, he didn’t have time to be picky!!!! He began grabbing whatever he saw - three orbs (he had no idea what they did), a scrap of cloth, a seed... None of it really looked like it would do any good outside of possibly the orbs, but as Simon turned around he was resolved to make SOMETHING happen. Unfortunately, he turned around just in time to see someone making things happen for him.
And not in a good way.
Two seeds hit Tempo and the Carracoasta, breaking their concentration and suddenly subjecting them to the current via disorientation. Simon watched in horror as the current began to take them. Who could do such a thing!? Simon looked among the now horrified crowd pathetically and he tried to at the very least identify the cruel Pokémon who was now after them, but it didn’t take long before a potential perpetrator snuck up on him.
“Thought you were rid of us, ey kid?” a gravely voiced hissed behind Simon. He whirled around, only to become entangled in a snare set by a familiar Skrelp. “I wasn’t born yesterday, asshole! I know where you little jerks go for safety down here!!”
“Cauughk,” Simon choked, unable to formulate words as he sadly tried to twist himself out of the restricting kelp. It was no good; the Skrelp had a death grip on him and didn’t seem to want to let go. Could anybody see him? There were tons of Pokémon around, somebody must be seeing this!!! But as Simon looked around, it seemed like all gazes were fixed on the Carracoasta rescue effort. He could see so many strong Pokémon that could help him - there were two kingdra and a sedara right there in front of him trying to prevent the Carracoasta from drifting any further. They were just too preoccupied. It seemed one crisis overshadowed another - and Simon couldn’t even call out to get them to look in his direction.
“Listen up: this isn’t about items anymore,” the skrelp hissed, it’s voice dripping with venom and malice. “You tried to make a fool of us - you think we’re playin’!!! Well, we ain’t playin’. I ain’t here to take care of you, I’m here to collect you - you’re in for something way worse.” Simon could only stare into the Skrelp’s beady, hateful eyes as it continues to squeeze the consciousness out of him.
“You and your friend are gonna wish you never hatched, you hear me??! You-”
The skrelp’s voice was suddenly cut short. Simon could barely perceive what was happening. A shadow suddenly crossed over them, and not a moment later Simon felt some large form make contact with him from behind. He caught a glimpse of the skrelp looking shocked for a moment before the world became a spinning mess of light, shadow, and color that no longer registered as images. He was dragged along for a moment by the tangle of kelp that had held him before the Skrelp lost its grip and Simon was released from the sudden force.
He needed a minute to right himself after all of that. He looked frantically up at where he thought another attack should be coming from, only to see a Sharpedo’s back as it charged at something. The sorely. Finally, someone had noticed... Was he safe now? Was that Sharpedo really here to help him...?
“Are you alright??” A voice asked Simon as he recovered, interrupting his thoughts. A Seadra floated up to him urgently. “This place isn’t safe; from the looks of it I’d say you’ve been targeted. That skrelp was using all the confusion to get close... I saw him but i didn’t understand.” She looked apologetic before she suddenly became serious again. “You should leave. If that crook has buddies they’re probably after you too.”
Simon was shocked by this revelation, and scared. At the moment though, there was one other far more pressing matter. “But- my friend!!! I can’t leave!!! He needs help!!“ he exclaimed frantically.
“We can handle the Carracoasta. We’ve seen situations like this before,” the Seadra assured him.
“W- what? No! Not the- the Oshawott, Tempo!!! He was with the Carracoasta, he’s being dragged away!!”
The Seadra blinked. “I didn’t see an Oshawott... I also didn’t get here as fast as the others did, though.” She took a pause to consider the situation. She started back in with an urgent tone. “Maybe you should stay and help us. Admin told me current is abnormally strong today and it’s still growing. There’s some weather that seems to be affecting it. If you saw the direction that he went on, maybe you can help us find him.”
“O-oh, okay!!” Simon stuttered. His heart was hammering in his chest as he tried to keep up, but at least he knew what he had to do now. He could find Tempo. “He went with the current so that shouldn’t be hard, right? What should I do When I find him??”
“River will follow you; Azu can take her place as the air-provider. We need a more powerful bubble attack to give enough air for a Pokémon that large, anyways,” the seadra informed him. “Remember: SWIM ALONG THE WALL. Don’t go too deep, you’ll be washed away. Once you have your friend, anchor yourselves to the wall and River will signal us.”
Simon didn’t even give verbal confirmation this time; he was far too frantic. He simply nodded and began swimming down the rock face. He could hear the drafts calling for River in the distance, but it wasn’t his main focus. He began calling Tempo’s name, looking for any kind of response or confirmation that might tell him where Tempo was. All the while, the ruffling in his feathers from the current got more noticeable. Simon grew more anxious - what if that weather the Seadra has mentioned was picking up? He didn’t know how they’d stay attached to the wall if it got too strong!!
“Tempo!! Tempo?! Tempo, can you hear me? Where are you??” Simon called. All the while, his anxiety was growing. He couldn’t shake the feeling... that something terrible was about to happen.

| The two blind swimmers began to recover their visions slowly but surely, but blissfully unaware of the peril Simon got in... However, they were unaware of an incoming attack. It was the Carvanha attacking the otter, pulling him far away...
“Huh? Oshawott!” Carracosta called out, releasing bubbles. “You sure you want to speak, right now? Besides, you’re not my target. You weren’t the one who ruined my day.” The Carvanha said, keeping a tight bite on the Oshawott. ”AUGH- Glrk!! Mm... hnk...” Everything grew hazy, even with his partially blind vision. In his desperation, he knocked against the Carvanha weakly, but he soon takes in a gasp for breath out of instinct... but all he met was water... “Aww, couldn’t hold it in, anymore? Don’t worry... My friend will take care of your duck frie-“
Suddenly, a big blast of water attacked the Carvanha, knocking the Oshawott out of its jaws. “Leave... him alone...” The Carracosta weakly said, preparing another attack... “You... would dare... with such little breath?” Carvanha was heavily injured, with Carracosta simply replying with Stone Edge, defeating the fish. It took a lot out of the Carracosta, leaving him unable to do anything else. The drowned Oshawott drifted deeper into the sea’s current...

| Simon swam urgently with the current, scouring the water for any sign of Tempo nearby. With every passing moment, the tow was getting stronger and harder to navigate. The small duck had to fight to keep himself from getting forced down by the water as it carved it's way through the trench. He was sure now that there was no way they would be able to backtrack,
"NO!!!" Simon cried in horror as he saw Tempo get attacked by the other thug from before. At this point, he was starting to feel helpless. This was supposed to be a safe place, wasn't it?? And yet he and Tempo still hadn't escaped all of the malicious pokemon that had been after them. Had his mom gone through all this?? He had never imagined when he heard her recount her adventures that this would be how it felt, how it looked... The only saving grace was the carracoasta that reared back with an attack and knocked the violent fish away from Tempo. He was out of the frying pan now, but there was still the small problem of Tempo free-floating - unconcious, most likely - in a rapidly growing undertow. Simon began to kick his feet and chase after Tempo as the current started to pull the Oshawott's body further along the trench and down towards the seafloor.
"TEMPO!!!! Tempo PLEASE wake up!!! You're going to be trapped!!!" Simon screamed above the rushing water. His lungs were burning. His vision was blurry. He was numb and unsure of whether or not his limbs were moving at all. It might have just been the current moving him for all Simon was aware. His one goal was reaching Tempo now. That's all that he could focus on. "Tempo.... Tempo please wake up...." Simon sobbed deliriously over and over as he finally got close. The most he could do was try to reach out with his wings and grab the otter pokemon, anchoring them so that they wouldn't get separated as the black blotches in his vision began to grow and take over. The last thing he thought he heard was River's voice calling out in fuzzy blips somewhere far behind him.
And then, there was nothing.

| He could barely hear a voice cry out... It sounded like... Simon? He could barely hear what he said... but he could barely feel something grab him. Despite the duck’s attempts, however, it wouldn’t bring the Oshawott out of his current situation. However, he did seem to weakly hug back with his last strength...
Simon... I... I am truly sorry for this... Even though... you can’t hear me... The otter thought to himself with whatever part of him that was still able to think. The only other thing he wishes is for the Carracosta to survive his peril...
