» Moves:
- Defense Curl (Start) - He curls into the size of a ball, exposing his slightly harder skin to be more durable. His default response to every stimulus unknown to him.
- Sand Attack (Level 3) - Yigo spins his tail around making all the dust, dirt or sand around him be projected to his target´s face, reducing its accuracy. It is presumed that he takes the sand from his back which he has never washed before
- Poison Sting (Level 5) - Yigo makes an incision with his claw smeared on venom that has a slight chance to poison targets. Among all of his arsenal, this is the attack he has the least control over. He does not even know where the venom comes from!
- Crush Claw (Egg Move) - With a furious swipe of his claw he can tears his target into shreds, sometimes even tearing down its protection on the way. The last of his mother´s teachings, her signature move.
» Natural Feats:
- Sand Veil: In his natural habitat, you can barely distinguish him from the sand when a sandstorm strikes in. When he curls into a ball or when he buries down, it is almost impossible to find him thanks to the sandy pattern of his back´s skin. Its unique structure protects him from the sun and sand. On the other hand, Yigo feels sick when his skin is wet.
- Digging claws: He can dig small holes on the sand or dirt with ease.
» Personality:
Yigo is an introvert. He was risen by his mother alone in a land were feral Pokemon roamed freely which had led him to a life of mistrust for others and dependency towards protective, stronger and overall caring Pokemon. He doesn´t approach other Pokemon unless he assumes it´s unavoidable. However, if he manages to trust someone, he gets very attached to it, often expressed through an increase in both physical and social contact between the two. The conflict between his need for cooperation and his social anxiety drives him away from joining any group, personally preferring to be just with a single friend instead.
Since he used to live between feral Pokemon his survival instincts are, perhaps, only surpassed by those of feral Pokemon themselves. His mother had to be sure that Yigo could survive by himself, teaching him where to find food and water, shelter or weaker Pokemon to defeat and train. Despite all that, he is an illiterate, barely knowing how to read.
He is not the fighting type either. When he was a child the only thing he had to do was to wait for his mother to take down his would-be predators. On the battles he can´t ask help for, Yigo will simply try to avoid confrontation by either hiding in the environment or outrun his foes. If that turned out to be impossible, he would look after his safety with defensive moves before going on the offensive.
» Likes:
- Having purpose (like a job, a task or someone that asked for his help) - Being dependent is a burden he has to carry through his entire life, so to serve others is his relief. He believes that he is paying back for everything he ever needed by helping people, no matter the reward.
- Children with their parent(s) - He feels protected near them and has the need of helping them, especially if their problems are family related. He dreams of going back home to be with his mother once again when he becomes strong enough to protect her.
- Barren lands - It reminds him of home and it makes him feel inspired and grand. He usually comes to places that have such qualities to recover confidence or bring close ones towards him, thus, making their ties stronger.
- Physical contact - He is comforted when seizing someone´s hand, arm, tail or just being right next to someone, actually. This is due to how he used to travel with her mother, never getting far from her.
- Pokemon that can fly or levitate - Since he was rescued by a guild member, he could no longer accept clouds as the limit. Those brave enough to fly above them are worthy of his respect.
- Using "Defense Curl" and rolling afterwards - When he´s curled in he feels safer and more comfortable. He gets cheered up after rolling a little even though he can´t actually see where he is going.
- Exploring/traveling - When he was rescued he had merely seen a glimpse of what was at the other side of the ScochFall´s sandstorms. The clear skies, the high mountains, the unending seas and the unknown lands. On that moment, he had sworn to see it all before he could go back home. Besides, he was born a nomad; being tied to a land is completely against his philosophy.
» Dislikes:
- Large groups of Pokemon - Not even if they are very well known to him. He usually thinks that he is not worthy of being there or with no control over the future of the group. This setback is what, essentially, made him afraid of entering the guild.
- Water - He feels sick when wet and just the presence of humidity is enough to shake him. Oddly enough, his need for physical contact is superior to his hydrophobia. Therefore, he won´t hesitate before touching water type Pokemon.
- Getting washed - The scent of Scorchfall Desert is still present on Yigo´s skin, especially on his back. For him, it is part of his identity. If he got washed he could potentially lose his scent. Moreover, it usually involves water, something he despises.
- Fighting or Psychic type Pokemon - He feels disturbed and overwhelmed in their presence. He can´t establish eye contact with them.
- Torkoals - He remembers them as the only Pokemon capable of defeating his mother. He becomes especially aggressive in front of them.
» History:
Yigo was born and raised in ScorchFall Desert by two Sandslash: Keira and Cain. They were nomads that roamed the desert and traded with travelers until Cain mysteriously disappeared. Yigo was barely able to remember the time he had spent with his father so his loss was not as hard for the kid as it was for Keira. She saw herself as the next one to disappear. She knew that she could survive by herself if she couldn´t find her way back. She was more concerned about Yigo as he was too unprepared to be left alone if, by any means, he wasn´t by her side.
Since then, Yigo started to go scavenging with his mother, learning all the tricks he could learn from her. After a couple of months of training and preparation, Yigo thought that he was ready to go on a scavenging run all alone. However, regardless of his progress, she wouldn´t allow it, she was too afraid.
Yigo´s chance to shine came to be when Keira, during one of her runs, encountered a feral Torkoal stronger than her and got defeated. He acted swiftly, outwitting the Torkoal in the middle of a sandstorm and rescuing his mother.
After that incident, as her last resource, Keira gathered as much Poké as she could to hire a team from the Grassveil´s Exploration Guild to lead his son out of the desert towards Grassveil. She realized that she couldn´t afford another mistake, that she could no longer look after Yigo. She had to send him to a safer place and hope for his best.
He can still remember the day when a Pelipper carried him away from his mother´s side, soaring through the sky above. Rather than feeling sad, he felt inspired by the world he had never met before while, at the same time, being comforted by the thought that he had saved his own mother. During the flight, he started asking many questions about the land the explorers came from. They had told him about the adventures of brave explorers, the tales of grim outlaws, legends about forgotten places and about invaluable friendships; yet the flight was too short.
As a newcomer to Grassveil, he is still learning the ropes of society but without anyone that can guide him around he is feeling a bit lost. He is trying to adapt to the new ecosystem he is living in and the first step for that is to find a new job (or so the guild members suggested).
