lel.... Im thinking you missed the part where i stated I view it in two ways... (the pokemon aspect and the stereotypical D&D aspect)[deleted it now due to reformating the OP... so I'll just go into that farther here...]
however, yes viewing the same chart in the different aspects is a bit 'wrong' but it helps my 'imagination' so I can comprehend things.
If something isnt a true value I look for a way to compensate. like for example: every pokemon is different, the base stats would fit the role perfectly for the stereotypical D&D racial differences. (explained later)
pokemon mechanics first, base stats and lvls... and the stuff that happens in-game or the obvious outcomes of what moves the pokemon use to other pokemon and the power moves have upon said pokemon... and slightly, the environment aswell. (or just whatever occurs in the games naturally... x-x)
then I look into a stereotypical D&D roleplay aspect of it. or how that power/damage should be shown. or better known as 'the reaction'. or in 'this aspect' for special attack and special defence... how the mind handles things. health in this aspect determines when the person finally cracks. special defence is how a person copes and the minds capacity. special attack is the stress one can give and how much they can put out. {just take into account this is how I view it, its not exactly D&D, D&D is just a stereotype for 'roleplaying with statistical values'. to me (even though I do play it... ehem, 3e)}
I look at the chart for the 'base stats' and consider every pokemon being its own unique race evolution being just what it is a boost in power(or it give a set minimum...cubone doesnt evolve till level 30, if considering the site rules it would then be lvl 15... but to me those missing 15 levels makes the difference. a level 30 cubone is as strong as a lvl 15 marowak. perfectly even. except when it comes to that evolution will always best. unless the cubone has better 'equipment')
-health is practically endurance(physical) and determination(mental)
-attack is practically the physical strength and power. (I consider 'weight' as a variable in this catagory)
-defence is practically the toughness of the [whatever covers the body] and durability of the inside. (this can be a little wierd to explain, because 'slime-like pokemon' with high defence, squishy but yet springy and 'rock-like pokemon' with low defence. its just the material that they are. slimes tend to reform their body as if undamaged (not exactly a regen. for after awhile they'll exhaust out and not reform. rocks being easier to explain... limestone to diamond. :P))
-special attack, In this aspect is the minds way of attacking. offensive speech, peer pressuring, confusion, scaring, etc. In my mind's D&D-ish aspect its not magic its the mental prowess of a person. (in D&D it would be intelligence, but thats alittle bit... meh, for pokemon. I can agree to that.)
-special defence being stubborness, optimism, anything to match the opposite of special attack for obvious reasons(more things confusing to think about... alot of stuff could be considered in special defence... the mind is a fragile thing. take words for example... its dangerous getting the wrong wording. look at me :p) matter aswell call me 'vague'... uh... I'll consider it, lol.
-speed is... well mobility and some bodily functions. reflex, movement, dodge... (thought speed doesnt really work out if your body cant keep up. sure you can see every opening the opponent gives now, but if your body cant get into position to execute the attack, whats the point? think of a giant, sure allll that power but hes so slow... just one connect and lights out.)
This entire thing is how I view roleplaying. So ofcourse since its in the way I see it, it'll be wrong for those that have actually been roleplaying in the current way. imagine D&D 1st or 2nd edition characters popping into a 5th edition world or better yet first gen pokemon mechanics in the newest gen. *cough* (my way could explain why gen one mechanics based crit off speed... >-> and a couple other things but they seem 'vague' in the more recent generations.)
alakazam being physically frail but a mental powerhouse, with speed to boot due to it purely using psychic energy.... sableye turning into mega gets a huge boost to defence, because 'shieldly gem' but ends up slower because 'gems added weight' however its not that big of a drop, so it can apparently handle it well. This curse doesnt apply logic in that aspect ('except' the added weight should of been obvious that it would be slowed down, maybe not character stats wise but if it had to lug it around... heh.)
Yooka cannot evolve in any way, she's 'technically' at max power from the start. max power in accordance with the D&D base stat values...
gah, rip my thinking... I forgot to say 'that' all this time. I apparently 'do' do power scaling. its just not something that crossed my mind... x-x
pokemon aspect: base stats to level...
I just used the D&D thing for a stereotypical npc encounter, but Player encounters would of been taken as 'dont mess with this character, its just environment, play around it but dont play with it.' I can interact but I cant force anything...
the D&D base stats thing dont apply to other players due to 'balancing issues' similar to how pokemon always sets lvl to 50 for fights but you can always set it to true level, which is what I should have been doing.
To me it is more of 'reverse' mmo logic... uh, mmo logic is where only the equipment effect pvp and the npc fights are based on level...
just reverse that and you got how I do roleplaying.
I sortof see what is happening... >-<
rewriting...
im thinking of my characters in the D&D aspect towards everything. I should of been using the pokemon aspect more often towards players but keeping the D&D thing to my characters and npc's only (or those that are not stated as 'on par with or higher than' higher leveled players)
RIIIIIIP
heheh.... I can see how this can appear to be harder on myself, but no its actually easier for myself. "But I leik my statistical values... ... :c"
(@Bluekat: I'll do what I can... even if its still a no go by others. I just wanted to state my mind.)
