| Subject: Akira the Zorua Sat Apr 02, 2016 2:54 am | |
| » Name: Akira » Sex: Male » Gender: Male » Species: #570 - Zorua, the Tricky Fox Pokémon » Affiliation: Wanderer, hoping to become a police officer
» Level: 5 » Energy: 19 » Ability: Illusion » Moves: - Extrasensory (Egg) - Scratch (Lv. 1) - Leer (Lv. 1) - Pursuit (Lv. 5)
» Natural Feats: - Illusion: Zorua have the natural ability to change their physical appearance by creating an illusion around themselves. They can effectively "transform" into any other Pokémon that they can think of...but in appearance alone. They cannot mimic that Pokémon's skills and retain the same abilities and properties as their base Zorua form. For example, even if they turn into a fish Pokémon, they cannot breathe underwater, nor can they fly if they turn into a Pokémon species that can fly. They are also weak to Fighting and Bug and immune to Psychic type attacks, no matter what form is taken.
» Personality: Akira isn't just a knight in shining armor...he is the knight in the shiniest armor in the entire fortress. He is very self-conscious about his appearance. It is easily his highest priority...with very few exceptions. He hates being dirty and tries to make sure that his fur is nice and clean at all times. On the rare occasions where he has a bad hair day or his fur does somehow get dirt or messed up, he will refuse to let other Pokémon see it. Instead, he will create an illusion around himself, making him appear to be a different Pokémon altogether. "He simply CANNOT be seen unpristine!" as he says.
That said, he strongly dislikes Pokémon that try too hard to look pretty. Anybody who gets their body/fur color changed, he will call them tacky and unnatural. He prefers looking as he was born...because in his opinion, that's the way it's supposed to be. Of course, this certainly will not stop him from using the greatest grooming supplies that money can buy for that natural fur of his.
As stated before, there are very few exceptions to Akira's appearance-driven state of mind. The one thing greater than his desire to look good is his desire to be the center of attention. As such, one of the exceptions to his vain behavior is when he sees an opportunity to play the role of a role model or a hero. If he sees a Pokémon in danger, he will rush in to protect or save them if he can, despite any risks to his outward appearance. Besides, he can just create an illusion around himself to change his appearance, so it won't really get in his way. When his mind is set on a goal of protecting another Pokémon, he takes on a completely fearless persona, acting like a protagonist you might read about in a comic book and trying to look as "cool" or flashy as possible.
The only other exception to his usually-vain way of life is when he gets to take on the role of a spy. He does enjoy putting his nose where it doesn't belong, and he finds it fun to create an illusion around himself and try to fit into a scenario he normally wouldn't be in, just to see if he could get away with it and go unnoticed. If that means he has to step into a mud puddle...well, he would probably hesitate and try to find a way out of it, but he wouldn't let that ruin his undercover act.
In the end, he's a vain, somewhat mischievous young man with good intentions. He wants to help others...and getting to look cool doing it is more or less a bonus.
» Likes: - His appearance. Akira is very self-conscious about his appearance and will do whatever it takes to keep himself looking pristine as much as he can. - The police. Akira has always thought that the police were the definition of cool. They always put themselves at risk in order to protect the public, even complete strangers and try to solve mysteries and stop crimes. How much cooler can you get? - Pretty ladies. Just as much as he is self-conscious about his appearance, he is a lady's man through and through. He loves trying to show off for women if he can. He will try to sweet-talk them if they interest him. though he will try to avoid it at inappropriate times.
» Dislikes: - Fighting. Despite his love for showing off and looking cool, he strongly dislikes fighting other Pokémon and will almost never do it for sport or recreation. Why would he risk dirtying his beautiful fur for something so brutish? - Unnatural appearances. As far as he's concerned, appearance is everything...but if you have to cover yourself up with extra colors than what you were born with, then you can't be very confident in your natural appearance, and thus, you are just plain tacky and are trying too hard - Rude Pokémon. Those that are rude to himself or others...more specifically, those that make fun of the appearances of others. Whether a Pokémon is small, frail, or not very pretty, Akira doesn't care. It's wrong to make fun of somebody for how they look. The exception to this rule is the one mentioned above: If they are obviously trying too hard to cover themselves unnaturally. But beauty can be in the eyes of the beholder...and he believes any Pokémon's natural beauty can shine through with proper care.
» History: Akira was born in Grassveil, in a home that already possessed one child. He was born to a Ninetales father and a Zoroark mother. His sibling was a brother that quickly came to be what he would remember the least fondly about that home. His elder brother was always rather mean-spirited toward the young Zorua, always pushing him around. However, his parents turned a blind eye to such behavior. After all...their elder son was a prodigy and the pride of the household. The larger Zorua was strong, fast, and more skilled than any other child his age that their parents knew of. Nothing Akira could ever hope to compete with. Whenever Akira would complain about his brother's behavior, his father would state that he was merely trying to toughen up his weaker younger brother and that he should be appreciative of his extra effort.
Akira soon came to the conclusion that there was only one way that he could get this to stop. He had to be better than his brother somehow. However, he had a large problem: he was no prodigy. Multiple challenges resulted in the same result: a face full of dirt and an annoying laugh ringing in his ears, as well as some generic, family-friendly insults. One day, however, he realized something. The supposedly perfect older brother was only being paraded by his highlighted battle skills. If he couldn't match that, then he would have to find something else. He had to shine through in his own way. Enough with these ridiculous, embarrassing challenges!
It wasn't long before Akira had it all figured out. There was definitely something he could do to be better than his brutish older brother. He began to look into taking better care of his own body, keeping it clean and mess-free. He even began to read up on grooming techniques. He also made sure to keep a brush with him at all times for those moments when his brother would try to rough him up a little bit or ruffle his fur. He would even often trick his older brother into messing up his fur in specific ways that would make it appear that he had ruffled him rather well, but in reality, it was an easy fix with a few strokes of the brush. He was not strong...but he was smarter and better-looking. These were the qualities that his parents could highlight like they did his brother's prowess.
His parents did indeed begin to be proud of him as they did for their elder son. Finally, Akira was doing something that they could be proud of. His looks and his intelligence could get him just as far as his brother's strength and skill. In a way, it was rather appealing for them that their family would be branching out into so many different directions. They had a son who was a top-notch battler and another who was the intelligent, good-looking one. It was picturesque for them. And Akira now had something he could cling to. He was better than his older brother in something at last. He began to take great pride in this and it quickly became a center point for his life.
Unfortunately, the parents' happiness was not shared by their oldest son, who began to become slightly jealous of his brother's newfound skills. But he knew that he did not possess the abilities to out-do his kid brother in this territory, nor the desire to spend much time changing that fact. He began to push his brother around harder than before, with the roughing up getting harsher, little by little. There were even times where he would trip Akira into the dirt in front of some potential lady friends. He even threatened to pull some of that precious fur out of him if he ever told his parents that his brother's "toughening up" act was getting worse; sometimes even a little bit dangerous. So, he quickly decided that he couldn't stay with his family any longer, as he couldn't stand to be in his brother's grasp any longer.
He told his parents that he was leaving to start living on his own and carrying his own weight. This only made them more proud of their younger son; moving out well before his older brother ever planned to. They gave him some money and supplies to live on for some time as a parting gift. Then, after one happy farewell from his family (and a quiet, hesitant one from his brother), he left and began to observe Grassveil's workings from outside of his sheltered perspective.

| Huh. Well, I kinda thought that Illusion would be covered by the ability itself, since that is his literal ability, but I can see why you would want it in both places.
Added! =3 | |
