Excitement for a New

The forest was quiet, there was Pecha berries all around, a slight breeze, the smell of a fresh day. As Tenatus walked through the forest to his destination, he smelled the breeze and remembered his childhood here.

Maybe I should visit Mom and Dad when this job is done. He thought.

This wasn't his first dungeon, but it was special to him, and he visited it often, Today he got a job there and was heading towards the meeting place. He was told it was the big tree near the center of the forest. As he headed their he hummed to himself a familiar tune and walked on.

Energy: 16 - 5 (entrance fee) = 11

Overall, it wasn't the best day for Adamantine. For some reason, it woke up in a fairly sour mood for no apparent reason. Some asked it what was the matter, but the Beldum couldn't give them an honest answer. It had replied to even its partner with the same answer as everyone else: "I am under the weather". As far as it knew, it was very hard for Beldum to get sick, so that was a big lie. Though it was acting a bit different than usual, Adam made a big effort to keep his polite and proper composure inside the guild. ...I do not like today. I feel as if I should return to the guild and sleep for a bit, but perhaps a small walk could soothe me. it thought with a bit of a nonchalant appearance.

Maybe the fact that it had spent hours perfecting its theories really fried Adamantine's nerves, but it wasn't convinced. After all, for the first time after speaking with the Guildmaster about the "holy war", the metal entity had finally made progress in finding ways to be involved and make a difference. Arceus desired for a quarter of 100 naturally-made consumable items to be burned in a place "where many had fallen before". To its expansive possibilities, the Shrine of the Fallen seemed like a likely position to consider. "All that remains is to collect items." it said to no one in particular.

As Tenatus was humming to himself and walking to the tree, he kept thinking about the Holy War going on. His Mom and Dad had already desided on good, but even though he should go with his parents he wasn't sure. As his mind wandered he tripped and fell over something.

Hey! Watch wher- oh sorry tree. He felt embarassed for that but at least no one was around to notice that.

He began humming again, some song about Light and Darkness, he never could remember the whole song, and his Mom wouldn't show it to him so he was stuck with what he has. As he reached the tree in the center of the forest as the job listing had said, nobody was there.

Aghh, and this was a high paying one too. Did another team already get it? Well at least this trees nice and comfy, he whispered to himself, feeling tired after the long walk, I think I'll just nap here for a bit.

The Beldum spotted a small, blue and black figure against a tree. ...Very peculiar. I swore that I saw no other explorers around this area. it thought with a cautious look. Floating over to the figure showed that it was in fact asleep. Adamantine prodded the figure, now identified as a Shinx, with a claw on the shoulder. If anything, this would at least be a step towards waking it up. "Hm? What is this...?" it said with a curious look, spotting a small bag next to the Shinx. It floated over to the small bag and began to examine it.

Of course, this meant that Adam had taken its eye off of the slumbering Pokémon. Was it a feral and desired to attack to protect its stash? Was it civilized and would see Adam as an outlaw looking for items to steal? Just in case it was either situation, it decided against viewing the contents of the bag and focused back upon the Shinx itself. "Excuse me, but are you perhaps conscious? I would hate to seem as if I am snooping." it said with its monotone.

When Rai had finally reached Grassveil, he had done some wandering around, getting a feel for the town's layout. While he was roaming, he had heard mentions of a forest not too far from town, perfect for beginners to train in. Of course, he had headed straight towards the forest, eager for some training.

As the Zubat entered the forest, he could barely contain his excitement. Of course, battling ferals likely wouldn't be as exciting as his previous bout with Ashen. He didn't care, though; any fight was a good fight. As he examined his surroundings, he had noticed many objects on the ground that he couldn't exactly identify. Most likely berries, hence the name Pecha Forest. A little ways into the woods, he began hearing a voice. It sounded rather monotonous, and strangely... robotic? Who could that possibly be, speaking like that? Rai thought to himself. He slowly went closer to the area the voice was coming from. He hid behind a tree in an attempt to avoid the attention of a potential threat, and could almost make out some strange entity levitating off the ground. It seemed as if it were trying to get someone's attention. The bat Pokémon thought to himself, I guess it couldn't hurt to do a bit of eavesdropping...

Tenatus was having a dream, he was on a boat with his Dad, they were on a trip to an island. He was talking to his dad laughing and having a grand old time. When they arrived at the island they went exploring on the beach looking at the plants and talking to the Omanyte and Sligoo. They relaxed on the beach and fell asleep. When they woke up it was raining, and they had to get to shelter. There was a village nearby and as they ran towards it the island was torn apart.

"Tenatus! We need to go faster!"

I'm trying!

They ran and ran trying to make it to the village. Then Tenatus' dad fell down.

Dad! Come back!

He woke up in a cold sweat to a Beldum looking at his bag, and saying it was snooping.

Hey, what are you doing! That's my bag!

Adamantine was majorly startled by the shout. The Shinx had awakened to its antics! Turning to face the Pokémon, the Steel type lowered its head in apology. "Oh, my sincere apologies for inspecting your possessions! I was merely curious as to the contents of the bag is all." it said in its robotic voice. Of course, it sounded like a lame excuse nonetheless, but it was as close to the truth as possible. Adam was intrigued as to what was inside, yet never opened the bag in the first place. Even itself could tell that it looked like some outlaw looking for an easy picking, but the Beldum was confident that this Shinx would in fact believe its reasoning.

It kept its guard up just in case the Electric type decided to take the offensive. Though not having any clear type advantage, Adamantine's body was highly conductive to electricity being made of metal. It was very skeptical of the exact effects of an electric attack to itself, but the robot-like Pokémon didn't want to find out. "...My, how rude of me. Please excuse my previous action. I am Adamantine, member of Team Radiance of the Grassveil Guild." it stated whilst looking up again. Hmph. First my odd mood, and now this? I should have chosen a different day to venture out, if not a different location... I should be cautious of my actions for the remainder of my time here.

Tenatus, hearing this grabbed his bag and put it on, as even though he's an explorer, no one touches his bag but him. "Hi, I'm Tenatus, member of no team, and not part of the guild, but still an explorer." When saying this to an actual member of the guild he realized how stupid he sounded about being an explorer, he really needs to join the guild, instead of walking in and taking random jobs. "I just don't like anyone touching my bag except for me." He said holding his bag tightly. "Anyway, I was supposed to have a job here, but no one showed up, and then I fall asleep in a dungeon and wake up to a Beldum looking at my bag. I have had a really bad day today."

As the metal object floated midair near the Shinx's bag, Rai noticed it stir a little in its apparent slumber. It shouted in surprise, which caught Rai off guard. He exclaimed " Gah!" in shock, but quickly regained his bearings behind the tree, praying that he was not noticed by the two possibly hostile Pokémon. That was way too close. I hope that wasn't loud enough for them to hear... if it was, I could be in some trouble... To the bat Pokémon's relief, they did not seem to notice.

The metallic being seemed surprised as well, trying to assure the Shinx that he was no thief. He introduced himself as "Adamantine", a member of the guild. "The guild...?" Rai whispered quietly. He may not have much to fear, after all. He still tried to stay hidden regardless. Adam did not seem to be threatened much by the Shinx anymore, but was still on guard. The Shinx scolded Adam for going near his bag, as if it was important to him, possibly sentimentally. Neither of them seem to interested in starting anything right now... maybe it might not be a bad idea to reveal myself now... Rai slowly inched a small portion of his wing out form behind the tree, interested if either of the two Pokémon he had been watching would see it or not.

I think it should go from Destiny, then Ally, and finally myself. This is just so that we can keep things organized. Then by chance we are alike, stranger... it thought with an understanding look in its eye. "I can relate to your predicament. I have not been faring very well during the prior hours of the day, and hope to change that soon. It is a pleasure to meet you, Tenatus!" At the word "meet", the smallest crack of emotion generated from Adamantine's voice. Though the crack wasn't enough to drastically change its mood, it did cause the Beldum to become optimistic at its speech practices. Maybe this is a sign that I will evolve sooner or later? Evolution is known to change the affected Pokémon in noticeable ways, and this could be a grand revelation in my development. it thought with a slightly excited look.

Just as the Steel type was about to continue... a small, blue and purple appendage caught its laser-like focus. There was something behind the tree! "Please pardon me for a minute..." it said, turning to face the tree. "Species appears to be Zubat, a Flying/Poison Pokémon. If engaged in battle, I find myself to be confident that my type advantage will prevail. If you can comprehend my logic and will come out, I will perhaps not attack." it threatened. It sounded really nerdy and statistical, but was the best threat it could manage. After all, if the facts were heard as overbearing as intended, Adamantine had the advantage in mental stability as well as physical abilities. Besides, the "creepy robot voice" could possibly add to the effect. "I am waiting for a response, foreign entity." it stated flatly with effort. Maybe the concept of keeping the monotone for the time being wasn't so bad if it came out like that...

Tenatus hearing the greeting of friendliness and a sudden grasp of emotion from the voice was about to reply when Adamantine suddenly went all robot again on a hidden Pokemon. Apparently it was a Zubat. Peeking out from behind Adamantine, Tenatus saw Purple wing peeking out of the bushes. Adamantine I think I got this one, Zubat in the bushes, come out, we won't attack as long as you won't attack. He said trying to translate what the Beldum was saying into words an average Pokemon could understand. Just say something and come out, that's all we're asking, okay. Don't mind Adamantine, he just talks like a robot. Tenatus was saying trying to comfort the Zubat.

The metallic Pokémon must have noticed Rai, for it began to spout out a ton of information and facts about him. The sudden outburst freaked him out for a little. What was up with him? And that voice; so creepy! It stated that, if necessary, if would fight him. Aw, crap! I should've kept hiding! Though, I'm sure that this would be inevitable anyway... The Shinx it was with began trying to calm him down by saying that they had little intention of harming him. Rai remained behind the tree for a second, before revealing himself, attempting to look non-threatening.

"All right, you found me. I don't want to start anything here, I doubt it would help any of us." He was trying to be as careful as possible with his words; if he did start a fight, then he would have a major disadvantage. While he was speaking, the Zubat thought about Adamantine. The heck is that thing? It's pretty unusual for a Pokémon, if it even is one... Adam was definitely one of the most interesting things he had ever seen. "And, uhhh... not to be rude or anything, but... what's up with him? Rai said, gesturing towards Adam.

The Zubat hiding behind the tree edged its way out from his hiding spot, to the relief of Adamantine. The bat's hesitation was causing the metal entity to become tense and a bit unsure of the true identity of the stranger. "...My sincere pardons for this behavior, but I am skeptical of you, stranger. State your name and business for precautionary and security measures." it said with a suspicious glint in its eye. Even if this Pokémon was civilized, what reason was there to believe that it was friendly? The eavesdropping already made the Zubat all the more susceptible to dark deeds for personal gain. If I am incorrect, then this will definitely be a very prominent moment of embarrassment for myself... it thought, focusing solely on the Flying type alone.

Its comment to dislike the idea of starting a confrontation was promising, but Adam refused to succumb to his natural sense of swift mercy. On the chance that this is an outlaw searching for methods to exploit my weakness, I must stand strong with my cause. If this is just an explorer in the wrong place at the wrong time... It makes for excellent practice. the Beldum thought with a slight nod. Tenatus was completely blocked out of Adamantine's mind at the moment, so almost little could divert its attention.

As the Zubat came out from behind the tree, Tenatus was going to say something to answer it, but Adamantine immediately spoke up again. ughh Adam Tenatus thought. Okay, Adamantine, calm down. I think all your doing is scaring the poor thing, a lot. Tenatus now turning to the the Zubat. Hi, I'm Tenatus, this is Adamantine, we're both explorers and came here to do jobs, I just met Adam and he just met me, but, to answer your question from what I've gathered, yes, that's how he is. Tenatus said, trying to get that Zubat to tell it's name, and information, to them in a kind way.

Rai knew he couldn't run from the two, and fighting them wasn't a good option either. He began to answer their questions."Alright. If you must know, my name is Rai. I'm here in the forest because I heard that there were feral Pokemon to train against. I don't want to start a fight against either of you two, I'm saving my strength for later." Rai was rather uncomfortable talking face to face with the metal entity, and he didn't intend on staying much longer. However, when Tenatus mentioned they were explorers, the Zubat became rather intrigued. Explorers? Maybe, if I get on their good side, I can get one step closer to joining the guild.

"So, you say you're explorers? You both seem pretty tough. Say, I was going to go deeper in the forest to train... if you want, you can come with me." Rai wanted to see what the two Pokemon were really made of in the heat of battle. Though, Rai realized that he was probably taking things two fast. Besides, who says they were actually explorers? For all he knew, they could be hardened criminals. "Uh, but, you don't have to come if you don't  want to... Rai was on guard the whole time he said this. If his suspicions about them being outlaws were right, he could be in trouble. In the back of his mind, he hoped that they were explorers and would agree to his offer. He loved to see the strength of others.
