The light levels had dropped tremendously the further one got to the forest, the trees no longer as sparse as they were near the edges. The canopy up above was very thick with barely any holes, not letting much sunlight in. Shadows covered most of the land with even darker splotches behind trees and rocks, perfect hiding spots for whatever might be lurking in the forest. The ground was mostly covered by grass and fallen leaves, there not being enough sunlight for the smaller plant life to prosper next to the large trees' shade. Thanks to the lack of sunlight, the forest also felt quite a bit cooler than one might expect... But the day was otherwise warm, so it wasn't unbearably cold yet. A strange group of Pokémon walked through the forest. Varda, the little bird, hopped happily along the forest floor and didn't seem to at all mind the dark. By his side was his client, a large and round Blissey with a bag full of all kinds of goods, her eyes determined as she marched on deeper into the forest. It was the Swablu who had originally met the Blissey and heard her request for aid at the Guild, but it seemed like he had caught the attention of an old friend as he was accepting it. Sova from another team ended up tagging along, bringing a new friend with him. Sova had never talked about his teammates, but as it was a team, Varda had always assumed that there had to be other members! It just made sense and he was happy to finally meet someone! The bird hopped and occasionally turned to look at the newcomer, named Keith. They hadn't had much time to get to known each other back at the Guild before accepting the mission, as the Blissey had urged them along. According to her, the mission was very delicate, very important and very time sensitive, and they didn't have one moment to spare! But while they were walking, the Swablu felt like they were going to be fine... "Sova actually never told me about you before, Keith! Have you been doing missions together for a long time?"Current Energy: 30 (40 -10 from entering. Sky Powder in use, every other Pokémon encounter takes 1 less energy.)

| Sova rolled his eyes as Varda suddenly urged them to get into some kind of formation, due to the forest being "very dangerous." Of course, the eye roll didn't do much good considering he wasn't turned toward the two, but it still made him feel better. He just couldn't take anything in this place serious at all, not after being to places easily ten times as dangerous. Regardless, he decided to humor this suggestion for a formation.... to an extent. "Okay, formation - stay near me and I'll beat anything that comes near us to a bloody pulp," he responded without even slowing his pace, perhaps in a bit more darkly of a manner than was necessary, but that was just who he was.
Honestly, his comment was more for the purpose of feeding his own ego than making a plan, but it wasn't by any means a bad plan to him. As long as the other two stayed near him - specifically Keith - he was confident in his ability to protect the whole group from anything that would be interested in attacking all on his own. There wasn't exactly anything in Shadowhue that worried him, after all. Maybe back when he was a little eevee there were some challenges here, but that was a time long past.
Keith listened to the conversation the other two were having as he followed along, back to his usual self of not really having much to say. He was beginning to realize that his new leader had some.... ah.... issues, like risking his life as a form of "training," even if it was in a controlled environment and his life was never actually at risk. Making dark jokes about beating things to death only made it more unnerving.... or at least, he hoped they were jokes. He found it hard to imagine anyone, let alone a Guild member seriously being so calm around such violent and dark topics.
Still, he knew Sova was kind at heart.... at least to those who deserved it. Sure, maybe he had a warped sense of humor, a bad temper and no mercy for those he deemed "unworthy" of it, but he was a Guild member and supposedly a pretty good one. There was no way anyone that good at being good could be bad at heart.... plus, he himself had been saved by the glaceon. Why would a dark-hearted individual selflessly save someone else?

| Varda nodded happily as Sova accepted the formation, but he seemed to ignore – or forget – all about what the Glaceon's formation was about. No, now that they were a team doing a formation, the bird just seemed to excited. He had never really been in one, so he was going to make sure the first one was excellent! "Alright! Sova will lead and I'll be here at the back," the bird chirped, spreading his wings and riding up into the air. He could try keeping an eye on their surroundings and um, do things!
"Oh, we could be like a triangle! You two should walk side by side and keep an eye on your side! You need to keep the formation, so I'll tell you when one of you is moving in case you missed it," he continued, his eyes shining brightly as he flew in place. It all was honestly like a game to him, but he was a childish, playful bird after all. At least it would make Keith be a part of the team, which would surely make them all the bestest of buddies as they played together. "Fooorward!" Varda crooned, trying to herd his team of friends through the dark forest.

| Sova glanced back and listened as his friend flew up into the air and suggested a formation, apparently taking his mock-acknowledgement seriously. However, instead of clarifying that he didn't really want to do a formation, he decided to just play along, maybe it'd make his allies happy. It wasn't like it was a very long walk back to the client, after all, so how bad could it possibly be? He looked over to Keith and then looked to his right to show the jolteon where to go, since Varda had suggested for them to get side by side.
Keith found himself being silent still, just having quite a talent for not speaking, apparently. However, he did speak up when directed to get beside Sova.... sort of. "Okay," he simply replied. It wasn't much, but technically, it did qualify as speaking. The glaceon showed him which side to move to, it seemed the other two were doing all of the decision making for him. It wasn't like he was complaining, though; he could learn more from watching and following the directions of experienced explorers than if he just tried to wing it. He moved up beside the glaceon quickly, not wanting to leave either of his allies waiting.

| Varda flapped his wings happily as he flew, excited as the two Pokémon got into the proper formation! It was like they were a real team – and well, they were, it probably didn't get much realer than this. But it felt more real, and that was the most important thing! Like... They were a group of superheroes or something! Now they would just have to move in the formation, but the bird was sure they could do it. He'd stay at the back, encouraging the rest to move in front of him and sticking to the formation...
Until he saw some movement from in front of them! Something was on the little path, crawling over it very slowly... And while it was quite certain that the two Pokémon in his formation had seen it, it was kind of his job to keep an eye out on things and warn the rest! "Stoooop!" Varda chirped, stopping himself as he inspected the situation from afar, not wanting to jump in front of everyone – after all, his position was behind everyone. A Pokémon with tan fur was crawling over the little path with its long arms, giving the trio a slow glance before it seemed to not care much and continued its journey – very slowly. "...Oh. False alarm!"
((The Heracross was ded. No one remembers even its death, poor Heracross. Also no more Slakoth.))

| Both eeveelutions had noticed the thing on the path and neither of them had really worried to much about it, since it was just a slakoth and it seemed easy enough to just walk around it. However, that changed when they were suddenly told to stop, or at least, it sort of changed. The two had very different reactions to this; while Keith had stopped in his tracks the second he was told to, Sova seemed to just completely tune it out and keep walking. It certainly served to show a bit about the personalities of the two, especially how much they differed.
For a few moments, Keith was absolutely torn as his two allies seemed to have completely different ideas about what to do. One was saying stop, while the other was completely ignoring that and just walking onward, who was he to follow? Well, obviously, he would have to follow his team leader if it came to it, but he luckily didn't have to make that choice as the swablu took back the earlier order, saying it was a false alarm. With that said, the jolteon continued moving, picking up his pace a bit until he got back into formation, at which point he began to wonder if Sova was alright. Not listening to Varda like that, it just seemed weird.
The jolteon reached out his paw to touch his friend and get his attention, "Hey, are you-," he began, but stopped as he made contact with his paw and allowed a jolt of electricity to travel to the glaceon before quickly retracting it. "Oh, sorry, sorry, I'm so sorry!," he frantically apologized, worried he'd seriously injured his teammate, but the Ice-type didn't seem to care at all, though it did get him to stop walking.
Sova completely ignored Varda's order to stop, continuing onward as he really didn't care about something in the middle of the path. Best case scenario, he walked around it, worst case scenario, he walked OVER it. It seemed the others decided it wasn't worth waiting for the slakoth to pass too shortly after, which was good, because he'd pretty much have to stop if the others refused to keep going. He glanced over to Keith as the jolteon began speaking to him and stopped when an electrified paw touched him and gave him a little shock. It wasn't anything serious, honestly it really only felt like a pinch, but it seemed his friend was much more worried about it than he was.
"Calm down, you couldn't hurt me even if you wanted to," the glaceon stated in a rather cocky manner, though it was probably true. After that, it seemed his friend stopped worrying, albeit maybe with a bit of a hurt ego, but he wasn't exactly one to care a whole lot about hurting the feelings of others on a general basis. He then glanced back to his airborne ally and wondered when this whole "formation" thing was going to end. "Varda, why don't you just come down here?," he asked.

| Varda did see that Sova ignored the order – and that was bad! For a moment, their formation... Broke! Awful! He thought that the Glaceon's large ears would have given him a better sense of hearing, but maybe his friend was just concentrating on other things too much. Like the dark, shadowy areas next to them, or maybe the formation itself was making him a bit nervous... Oh, the bird just couldn't be mad about that and make Sova feel bad! He didn't even know if he could point it out now, in case the Glaceon tried his best and it wasn't good enough... How disappointed would that make the poor Pokémon?
They were able to continue normally as the sloth-like creature crawling across the path wasn't dangerous, but when Keith got closer to Sova and stretched a paw, there was a crack of electricity and even a small, bright flash erupted from the Electric-type Pokémon – though the Glaceon didn't seem to be at all worried. "Oh, Sova, did it hurt?" He chirped from behind, of course a bit cautious... But not overly so, as he didn't want to make the Jolteon feel bad about it either. Keith didn't mean it, he was sure. Sova didn't seem to be bothered, though – instead just suggesting that he would come down.
"Oh... Should we have some other kind of formation?" The Swablu asked, understanding that maybe those who couldn't fly would rather have all members of the formation be grounded so it would be easier... But there was a certain hint of disappointment in his voice.
((Poor Heracross, no wonder it wants to attack everyone.))

| Sova just abruptly started moving again in the hopes of stopping his allies from being worried about him being hurt, his hope being that if he just kept moving, the other two would stop questioning his health and follow. He didn't bother turning around to acknowledge Varda, mostly because he was trying to find a reason to get rid of the whole "formation" thing without upsetting anyone. He was beginning to see a break in the foliage where light was shining not too far away, which signaled to him that they were close to the area they'd left their client in. Well, the annoying cheery thing wasn't really their client anymore, but they'd said they would escort her out, so he supposed they should keep their word.
Regardless of whether or not he cared about keeping his word to someone, though, this was a perfect excuse to stop the formation thing. "We don't need a formation anymore, there's light ahead; that means we're almost back to.... the....," he trailed off as a noise caught his attention above.
"WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE," came the high-pitched voice of a.... flower as it rapidly spun in the air overhead. No, not the flower, there was something on the flower! A flabébé, just randomly spinning into the scene on its flower and apparently having a whole lot of fun doing so, from the sounds of it. More importantly, though, it was making focusing very difficult for the glaceon....
If Keith had an ego in the first place, it definitely would have been hurt at least a little bit by Sova's comment, but luckily, he didn't have to worry about things like that. Instead, he was just happy that he hadn't hurt his friend, that was all that really mattered to him. It was nice having Sova around, as it seemed like that guy was impervious to damage or something.... or maybe it was just that he was too weak to hurt the glaceon. Either way, it was nice to not hurt everyone by touching them, albeit most would probably be shocked to some extent.
The jolteon followed along as his leader got moving again, trying to stay in the formation despite Sova saying they didn't need to do it anymore. However, he kind of began to stray off to the side a bit as a sudden, odd sound from above caught his attention. At first glance, it seemed to be a talking flower, which wasn't exactly very surprising considering how many things there were that looked like plants. But no, there was actually something on top of the flower that was making the overjoyed sound. He wasn't exactly afraid, both because the thing seemed pretty tiny and because it wasn't exactly acting hostile - in fact it didn't really seem to even notice any of them - but he was certainly a bit surprised by the sudden occurrence.
The all-encompassing noise didn't seem to faze the slakoth, though, which implied either that either this kind of thing was common in this area or this particular slakoth was just deaf.
(It just wants to give them a reason to remember it.)

| Varda blinked as he listened to Sova, his usual oblivious smile on his face. He was talking something about the formation not being needed, as they were getting close to the clearing, but... A strange, high-pitched noise from above caught the interest of them both before the message got through. The bird still flew in place, flapping his wings as he looked up to see... A flower flying by? And making noises? Well, that wasn't too surprising – especially in Varda's own little world. What was surprising about flowers talking? Nothing, that was!
But of course he didn't see a reason to break the formation now! Sova was clearly being a bit too hasty in this decision, as they weren't there yet and all kinds of unexpected turns of events could happen, as demonstrated by the flower! No, the Swablu looked more determined than ever – but he also knew that there might not be any reason to worry yet. The flower hadn't done anything to them and was well on its way past them without ever being able to do anything. "Um, hello, flower!" He called out, hoping that the thing would be able to hear him and respond in some way, "Are you a friendly flower or an unfriendly flower?"

| There was a pause as the swablu's question rang out, almost an eerie quiet, like a buildup to some amazing response from the flabébé. However, its only response came in the form of its high pitched loudness starting up again, "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE." It seemed it either didn't hear the question or just didn't care. Either way, it definitely wasn't going to be a problem, as it was already drifting away on its flower, carried by the wind. Sure, if someone wanted to, they could probably catch it as it wasn't moving very fast, but who would want to catch that thing?
Sova decided not to speak out against the annoying sounds of the flower-rider as his friend seemed more interested in talking to it. Varda was better at talking to others, anyway. However, when there was no response.... or.... no reasonable response, he decided to speak. "It's a flabébé, they ride flowers on the wind and apparently this particular one is REALLY ANNOYING!," he spoke, raising his voice considerably near the end in an attempt to get the attention of the flabébé and get it to shut up. Sadly, he got no response.... actually, no, that was wrong. The little thing seemed to purposely get LOUDER.
Then he began to think.... maybe.... maybe he could just.... shoot it out of the sky.... That'd shut it up, right? And he could probably do so without hurting it too bad.... maybe. Agitation was very evident on his face, and anyone with a normal thought pattern and a clear view of his expression could probably gather he was thinking about.... less-than-nice things.
Keith waited silently as Varda tried to communicate with the flower-creature, though he would have been silent regardless because he wasn't quite sure what to say. Plus, he wasn't a big fan of having to start conversations.... or partake in them with anyone he didn't know. But the only response they got was more of its.... whatever that was. Then Sova spoke up, also seemingly trying to communicate to the thing while also explaining what it was, but the result was the same. It seemed to get louder, though, but that didn't seem like too big of a deal since it would probably be gone soon. It was blowing away on the wind, no worries! Then he noticed Sova's face. Sova didn't seem to be thinking the same way.
"Uh.... don't stress about it, it'll be gone soon," he finally spoke, hoping to relieve some tension. He still didn't know Sova too well, but it was enough to know he was aggressive toward things that annoyed him. The jolteon didn't know if his leader would attack an innocent, but really didn't want to find out if he could avoid it. It wasn't really distrust, just.... a precaution.
Sova glanced over to his teammate as he was told not to "stress." He wasn't going to do anything, but he really wanted to. Just one shot would have been all he needed to get rid of the annoying sound. However, he was a Guild member. At that, he was on a mission! ....Sort of! So, needless to say, he couldn't really attack the flabébé even if he wanted to. Still, it was clear enough Keith was a bit worried about him, so he figured he'd better calm down a bit. If not on the inside, then he at least needed to look more calm on the outside. He took in a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment before sighing and getting rid of the angry expression on his face. He was still kind of agitated, but he didn't want anyone to be paranoid that he was going to attack a random defenseless pixie.

| Varda didn't get a reply. Well, he did, but it didn't exactly help. It was another high-pitched yell, but clearly one of happiness rather than stress – and it was very loud! And the flower-like Pokémon was quite far away as it floated through the air, so maybe it hadn't heard... Or maybe it was just so busy doing whatever it was that it was doing. Having fun, maybe? The Swablu tilted his head and smiled. That wasn't really a bad thing. He couldn't help but wonder how it would be like to ride a flower and spin in the air like that. He could fly, yes, but that was a little bit different...
When Sova spoke up, the bird snapped out of his thoughts and turned to face the Glaceon. According to his friend, this Pokémon was a Flabébé and they apparently did this kind of things – but not the yelling, apparently. At least Sova considered it to be annoying, so maybe it wasn't very common? It didn't seem like the Pokémon riding the flower was paying them any attention, so maybe it really didn't hear... Or maybe it just didn't care. Or maybe it had no way to actually steer that flower, completely at the mercy of the wind?
The Swablu nodded at Keith, but let out a little chirpy giggle. "Such a strong voice! Do you think they sing?" He tilted his head happily. One wouldn't believe something small to have such a pair of lungs on them, right? It was a gift of some sort, one not everyone had! Varda didn't even notice how annoyed Sova was, not having any idea what he might have been thinking, so he was just all smiles.
A presence from behind crept up on him now that they stood still for such a long time, so the bird Pokémon glanced over his shoulder to see... The odd floating insect husk behind him, having followed them all this way. He hadn't even noticed that it still was there, but it was so quiet and never seemed to come very close!

| Sova continued moving as the evil creature and its flower-steed gradually grew further away, getting harder to hear as it moved away. He began to wonder why even came to this place anymore with how little he had to gain from it and how much it usually ended up frustrating him, but then he remembered.... right, missions. The Pecha and Shadowhue forests were the most traversed "dungeons," so of course they were the ones with the most things that needed fixing. He didn't like how most of the problems were rather unimportant things, such as the mission they came here for today, but he kind of needed to do them if he ever wanted to be recognized.
The glaceon wanted to just ignore the question about whether or not the flabébé could sing, out of worry Varda would end up trying to ask it or something, but he didn't want to just not talk to his ally. With that in mind, after a moment of hesitation, he spoke up. "Lets not find out." He normally wouldn't mind hearing someone sing, but he really just didn't want that flabébé anywhere near him. He just wanted to let it drift away in the wind so that he'd never have to see - or more importantly, hear - it again.
Keith followed along as soon as his leader got moving, still trying to keep in position despite having had it made clear that Sova wasn't particularly fond of being in a "formation." He failed to speak up when he had a chance to join in on the conversation, as usual, but at least he paid attention. The topic was currently the voice of the thing on the flower: specifically, whether or not it could sing well. Honestly, for once, he agreed with Sova. He didn't want to try and find out if it could sing, because that would require getting it near them and.... what if it just started with its joyous yelling again? He certainly didn't want to have to hear that so close to him.
Luckily for him, though, Keith didn't have to be a jerk and say anything about the flabébé's singing. Why? Because Sova was there to be the jerk for him. It made him feel a bit bad, but having someone around who wasn't shy about speaking out against things was.... a little nice. Sometimes. However, her certainly didn't like how bad Sova could be about being a jerk. Some things he knew were at least arguably justified, but he'd already seen the glaceon behave in ways that were hard if not impossible to justify.

| Varda looked at Sova and frowned a little as his friend didn't seem to be very interested in learning if the little Pokémon that floated away from them could actually sing. Not because he didn't want to hear it, as he could respect the Glaceon's opinion, but... Why not? It could be so much fun! Was he wrong to hope to do something like that? Or maybe... The concern disappeared from the bird's face as he smiled, glancing from the Glaceon back to the inky darkness of the forest where the flower had last been seen. By now it was gone, and he couldn't even hear the Pokémon's voice. Maybe they just didn't have time to listen, as they were on a mission – or well, the after mission mission! That wasn't official, but important nonetheless!
The Swablu felt so happy to be with such concerned friends, working together to help their client who no longer even was their real client, but it didn't matter! They would help anyone even if it wasn't their real job that they got paid for. Helping others was enough... But there was still one thing left unsolved!
"Do you think we should include that Pokémon in our formation?" The bird spoke up all of a sudden, waving a wing behind his back so the others would notice the floating bug husk that had been with them pretty much from the beginning. But it was so quiet in the way it followed, so sometimes it was so hard to realize that it even was there! But it was following, so... Surely they would have to include it? Otherwise their formation would be ruined...
((I'm not sure, surely something completely unimportant.))

| Sova continued walking, but didn't get very far before he was stopped once more, his ally yet again wanting his attention. He turned around to see what the bird was talking about.... oh.... the shedinja.... still following them.... Well, he really didn't care what it did as long as it didn't try to attack, though apparently Varda had different ideas, feeling its existence needed to be addressed. Why? It didn't seem particularly interested in addressing its own existence, so why should they go out of their ways to do so?
Well, he didn't want to just say no and upset Varda, and he knew he would need to give an answer here or else he'd likely be annoyed even further, so he decided to just play along.... "Nah, it's already part of the formation! It's another lookout, and it seems pretty happy with its current position. You wouldn't wanna make it move to a different spot, right?" he responded, hoping playing into Varda's desires would let them just skip over the annoying talk that would result otherwise. He just wanted to get out of here at this point, since they didn't really have much left to do.
Keith heard Varda's question, though wasn't entirely sure who was being referenced. The flower thing? His gaze followed Sova's toward.... .... .... Oh. The creeper was still following them, okay. He didn't really want it to be around him, let alone in the "formation," but.... how was he supposed to say that without sounding like a jerk? Honestly, he was a jerk just for thinking such things, but he couldn't help it! The shedinja was creepy and it made him nervous just by being around.
Luckily, the jolteon was saved as his leader spoke up once more, this time taking a bit nicer of an approach, yet still giving a solution he was happy with. Yes, keep the creepy thing far away! It.... didn't have to leave, but he certainly didn't want it too close! "Yeah, that sounds good," he agreed, hopeful it would make Varda more likely to agree as well. Anything to prevent the eerie ghost bug husk thing from getting any closer to him.

| Varda glanced from Sova to the floating bug, who was apparently a part of the formation. Was that really so...? It felt a little off, as their formation had been a triangle, but now it was like... A triangle with a tail, or something! What did the tail do in a formation? Watch his back when he watched the back of his friends? ...Actually, that didn't sound so bad! He wasn't sure if this formation was the best as it was made with three Pokémon in mind and there might have been a better alternative – but why not? They could try! They were just practicing, after all.
"Alright, we can try this one!" The bird agreed, nodding a couple of times. He even looked behind him at the bug to confirm if it was fine with it, but as usual, its face was emotionless and didn't move even one inch. But that was probably a good thing and meant it was happy and agreeing, right?
The Swablu spread his wings and flapped them a few time to get some air under them, distancing himself from the ground below. "Let's get moving! We need to try it out and see if it works!"

| Both eeveelutions were relieved to have this situation resolved so quickly, each for their own reasons, though neither of them showed it, also for their own reasons. Sova didn't really care if he looked like a jerk, but he didn't want to have to deal with the possible influx of questions that could result from him acting relieved. Keith, meanwhile, simply didn't want to look like a jerk. Of course, he didn't want to have to talk about it either, as talking in groups wasn't exactly his favorite activity, but that wasn't his main reasoning.
Sova complied with a slight smile as he was asked to get moving, and he actually wasn't faking it. He wanted nothing more than to keep moving, considering they were so very close to their client, who could already have been ready to go. If they could leave right now, he wanted to. This place was just that boring to him. Nothing could really pose a threat to him and worse, he had to look out for his teammate.... and the client, he supposed. It wasn't exactly his job to protect the client anymore, but he'd already agreed to.
"Alright, but we won't get to try for very long, since we're almost back to the clearing. Actually, that means it's almost time to head home. All we need is the client's word, then we can leave.... unless anyone has anything else they wanna do," he responded as he walked. Maybe Varda had something else in mind here, but hopefully it wouldn't be anything major. They'd also need to figure out what to do about the stalker. It was harmless, but they couldn't really take it with them, so.... Well, they didn't need to figure that out just yet.
Keith followed along as the group got moving again, trying his best to stay in his position. This.... formation.... wasn't really doing anything they couldn't already accomplish by moving normally, but he wasn't going to complain. If it made Varda happy, then who was he to turn it down? He didn't feel like he had much say in it even if he wanted to speak up, anyway, as he was the definition of a rookie and thus his opinion would obviously matter less than the two novices. But.... he was okay with this, it wasn't like it was a burden to walk in this manner. He continued looking on his assigned side for any possible threats, spotting a few mushrooms, but nothing dangerous.
....Oh wait, the mushrooms.... they weren't mushrooms at all! They were shroomish! Well, the group of little 'shrooms didn't seem to be paying any mind to himself or his allies, so he didn't bother speaking up about them. If anything, speaking would just attract their attention, and he didn't want that.
(Um.... uh.... NO I'M TERRIBLE AT POP QUIZZES.)
