To be or not to be.

Sorren was following a path back to grassveil, but it was taking longer then he thought, but he didn't know any other paths, so he continued on. He was shaking, scared that bandits might jump him. When he finaly got to the top of a hill, he froze. Water. A lot of water. Sorren was scared of all that water and it's power to put out his fire for good. He took a step back, and then the world stoped. The sky was down, the ground was up, and the water was closer. He rolled down the hill so fast The grown melded with the sky. he hit a rock and was sent flying into the middle of the lake. so naturaly he yelled.

"AAAAAAAAAHHH!!!"

*SPASH*

Acro the Archen had been enjoying the sun on top of a bushy and lush tree. His feathers captured the heat as he watched the pokemon below him. He was too scared to go and speak with them and converse. His eyes had moved to a nervous looking red and orange chicken looking pokemon. Acro tilted his head, he had never seen that species of pokemon before. He wondered if it would be rude to ask, but then the thought of the pokemon being a stranger struck him. He didn't know if the pokemon was going to hurt him, for all he knew the pokemon could be a bully water type that was legendary. "AAAAAAAAAHHH!!!" he heard as the pokemon rolled down the hill and splashed into some water. He saw it thrashing in the water and then assumed that the pokemon WASN'T a bully water type at least. It didn't matter then though, he was a proud member of the guild and it was his job to rescue the pokemon. He darted over and held his tail over the water, not quite wanting to touch it, "Grab my tail!" he ordered with a bit of panic in his voice.

Sorren didn't have time to think, he thrashed about for a bit, inhaled some water. Then he bit down on the strange bird's tail for his dear life.

Acro pulled pulled the pokemon out of the waters, his tail got wet which irked him, but he dragged the soggy strange pokemon onto land. He leaped as he turned and quickly asked, "Are you okay? Do you need help? How did you fall?" He quickly realized that all three of them were stupid questions. Of course the pokemon was NOT okay. Of course the pokemon NEEDED help. He had also SEEN the pokemon fall into the water. He shook his head a bit to clear his mind from the stupid questions, "Forget those first three. Do you need anything?" he asked. He was satisfied with his bird brain, that was a more appropriate question surely. He just hoped the pokemon was still alive enough to answer.

The Bird was berating sorren with questions once he was out of the water. Sorren coughed up some water and laid flat on the ground. He was too out of it to make anything out, so he rested until the world came back into focus. Once his mind found clarity, it then found fear. The whole situation hit him like 2 tons of brick, since 1 wasn't enough and this analogy is getting out of hand... When sorren had worked up the courage to talk, he sat up.

"I'll live. Arceus that was scary. I HATE water." Sorren said in between breaths.

"Me too. It gets my feathers wet and soggy, then I'm slower and heavier. Not a pleasant experience"Acro said with a glare at the water. "I'm Acro. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but what ARE you? You look like some kind of smaller birdified version of a buizel...no not a buizel...an orange taller pidove?" Acro had completely forgotten about his earlier thoughts on the pokemon being a stranger. He had guessed that this pokemon wasn't legendary considering the way it had nearly drowned. Weren't legendary pokemon huge anyways? He ruffled his feathers to try and catch the sun once more and dry of the splash of droplets that had landed on his fur, luckily today's weather was sunnier and clearer than normal.

Sorren had gone through enough fear for one day, and he was grateful to the stranger for saving him. Sorren Took a good look at the pokemon, but he couldn't remember the species. Ironic, sorren guessed. he also guessed the meaning of the word ironic.

"I could say the same thing to you you kind of look like a big chattot or a Breviary. I know I've seen your species before but i can't remember for the life of me what it's name is." Sorren said. "I'm Sorren, I'm a torchic."

"I'm an Archen" Acro replied enthusiactically. He wondered how the torchic had thought of him as a braviary, since he was less than a foot tall and was shorter than the torchic. He tilted his head and asked, "I've never seen a torchic before...can you fly?" he asked, noticing that Sorren had wings, "I can't...Never can until I evolve." He looked a bit disappointed but brightened up quickly as he waited for an answer. The sun that had been beating above them was covered by a stray cloud that had seemed to come from nowhere. Acro was a bit annoyed by this since his tail was still damp, which made him appear a bit irritated at the tochic even though he was irritated at the sun and his tail.

Sorren winced. That was a sore subject with him. He had to think about his answer for a bit.

"When I was younger I thought that when I evolved i could fly, but no. I can't. When i evolve i'll get arms, that's a good tradeoff for flying I think." Sorren said, mumbling the next part. "at least that's what I keep telling myself."

Acro thought for a bit, "Maybe when you evolve, if you train hard enough, you'll be able to jump so high that you'll feel like you're flying" Acro suggested. The torchic reminded him vaugely of a pokemon he read about that could clear mountains in a single jump. He couldn't remember the name of the pokemon, but he wished he could jump high.

He noticed Sorren wince and instantly began to apologize, "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to offend you or anything." He flapped his wings wildly as he began to try and figure out why he had caused the pokemon to wince.

Sorren shook his head, getting rid of a little bit of water that remained. He Looked up at the sky, then back at the panicking Archen.

"It's ok. This just the first time it's come up in conversation before. I felt so enbarased when I found out what my evelotion would be like. Besides, I can do better To meet my goal If I Can Use my whole body to fight." Sorren said, then as an afterthought asked: "Hey, Do you know anything about the guild?"

"Yeah I know pretty much everything. I'm a guild member!" He puffed out his feathers proudly. "It's awesome there, you get to help others and get rewards for them. Faye, the guildmaster, is really nice. She's a meganium. Anyways, there you get a place to sleep and food to eat. Basically they take care of you in return of doing missions and helping others that are trapped in dungeons and stuff. My team is Team Roark, my partner is Flint, he's a poochyena. Although I haven't seen him around much..."

Sorren smirked. It was kinda funny how he puffed out his chest to look dignified while talking about his work. Acro seemed to love the guild, and it was a nice deal.

"Well i'm considering joining. However I'm not sure It's for me. You see, my current goal is to get as strong as possible, and while Getting paid to dungeon dive sounds nice, I could spend more time on my own in dungeons, getting stronger faster. Though, how well that has worked the last couple of years is debatable. I'm just not sure my morals and goals align with that of the guild's" Sorren said, sighing. It was nice to get it off his chest, even if it was to a guy he met only a couple of minutes ago.

"You don't have to do missions all day every day. As long as you do missions every now and then and aren't sitting on your behind doing nothing I don't think they really care. I've gone to a ton of places without doing missions, with my old partner we went on missions about once a week or so. We haven't really ranked up yet. Missions don't come around that often anyways so it's understandable." Acro replied. He liked doing missions better than exploring around, although he WAS getting sick of going to Pecha Forest and Shadow Hue for missions. "I've gotten a lot stronger than I used to be as well." Acro was simply stating his expierences, he wasn't trying to suede the torchic into joining. His bird brain wasn't smart enough to do that at the moment, even if it wanted to.

Sorren took a minute to meditate on what Acro had to say. He laid back, looking at the clouds. He stayed silent for a bit before responding.

"You know, I'm not sure I would be welcome even if i wanted to join. I'm Really a big coward. If it wasn't for the fact that you saved me we would never have even talked. I fight because I have too, not because I want to." Soren said, a tinge of sadness in his voice.
