(Up for Adoption) Cory the Corsola 250px-222Corsola
» Name: Cory
» Sex: Female
» Gender: Female
» Species: Corsola (#222, the Coral Pokemon)
» Affiliation: Wanderer

» Level: 05
» Energy: 19
» Ability: Natural Cure
» Moves:
- Harden
- Tackle
- Bubble
-

» Natural Feats:
- Continuous Growth (Cory can easily break off her branches and regrow them.)
- Nutrient Absorbtion (Cory can eat by absorbing nutrients from clean water.)

» Personality:
Cory is… well, she’s a nice person overall. She’s not particularly adventurous or ambitious, and there seems to be a more passive nature to her. She prefers to follow orders or generally go along with a group, and she’s not all that comfortable making her own decisions. It might be a lack of independence, but so far, it hasn’t done her wrong. She’s very polite and very genial about things, and generally tries to help people out.

That said… she’s a former feral for a reason. Cory has participated in misdirection, item thefts, even helping out in small “boss fights”, all because of an instinctual need for territory. She’s not comfortable with people getting too close to her, and the water-type reacts negatively to anyone getting too gung-ho in her face. The worst case scenario is a straight-up fight.

She’s trying to get over that primal mindset, honestly, but it’s a work in progress. Adjusting to civilization has been hard, and she’d like to take it one step at a time, so she avoids huge crowds and such. She supposes that it makes her seem a bit timid or nervous, but really, she has too many memories of being knocked out by four-man exploration teams to be at ease.

Cory does try to get along, however. She’s distrusting, but not exactly paranoid. She just keeps her distance around lots of Pokemon or loud Pokemon, and generally doesn’t speak up that much. The Coral Pokemon does get along, however, just as well as you or me. She’s just a bit shy and a bit quiet, with a little more alertness to sketchy situations.

» Likes:
- Eating. Like, drinking lots of water, as well as the nutrients in it. And she can drink tons of water just by sitting in a pool of it. It actually might be the Corsola-version of totally glutting out, but hey, it’s not like Cory’s gaining any weight any time soon, right? She also loves eating out whole meals of berries, if you want to be more conventional about things.

- The silence of the deep ocean. As an ocean-dwelling water-type, Cory can sink underwater without a problem, and the lack of sound is soothing to her. Something about land is just noisy and dusty, but the feeling of water pressure and floating and sand is just… good. It feels good. Perfect after a long day. The deeper the better.

- Rindo Berries. The taste of “green” and the fibery texture is very, very appealing to the Corsola. She loves gorging on them for a hearty meal, and will cheer her up even after the worst days. The side-effects also help in a pinch.

» Dislikes:
- Loud noises. Her dungeon was underwater, and in the water, conventional sound is either muted or totally toned down, so Cory never really acclimated to noise. Hearing an Uproar or a Belly Drum tends to really tick her off.

- Hail. Deserts are fine for Cory; she’s a rock-type, and it’s like the sand from the ocean, right? But icy areas are completely alien to her, and dealing with hail is one of the last things she wants, especially with how they wear down her body.

- Breaking her branches. This is just a really bad move for all Corsola in general. Socially, Corsola don’t break off their branches unless it’s time to shed, or if they agree to sell them. Cory isn’t an exception, and breaking off her branch is an immediate fight. It’s the worst form of disrespect for her species.

» History:
Cory, despite popular belief, was never named Cory by anyone.

No, Cory was named Corsola, because ferals didn’t have given names. It was an unsaid rule, and nobody really figured out why, but decided to do it anyways. But she digresses. Corsola was born in a dungeon known as the Coral Forests, to a feral Corsola and another feral Corsola.

It turns out the Coral Forests was generally a popular place where guild members would go to do missions, so the territorial Pokemon there generally were very suspicious to any intruders. Corsola, herself, was taught to not trust any foreign Pokemon, and to attack them without site. Given her status as a feral, She was never taught the reasoning and decision-making that other Pokemon had, so as such, The young Corsola followed these teachings loyally and without question.

However, it appeared that the guild was fairly strong, in it’s members, and Corsola was often wiped out before she could prevent the guild Pokemon from venturing further. But, for Corsola, failure did not deter instinct. It never did. And so Corsola went by her days, fighting and attacking guild Pokemon, and losing, and getting back up and doing the same thing the next day.

Until one day, she had a mind to wonder what was so great about being a guild Pokemon, who lives on land with other Pokemon. Why did these guild Pokemon keep coming? Did they have food? Did they want territory? What? Corsola couldn’t ask anyone; feral stayed away from each other and didn’t converse much, only scavenging for food and attacking anything in sight. So she decided that she’d ask a guild Pokemon herself.

The first one she’d found was a Vulpix, to her relief. Noone scary. After a brief confrontation, Corsola begun to converse, to the Vulpix’s pleasant surprise. “Why… Why do you keep coming here?” “Well, because it’s fun to explore,” The Vulpix chirped, “And there are Pokemon who lost something or someone in here.”

Corsola didn’t know that part. She just knew she had to stop Pokemon from coming in, not that there were problems from outside coming in here. Tentatively, the Corsola decided to join the Vulpix on her quest. They saved a missing Plusle together, and with that, the Vulpix exited the dungeon, and the Corsola waved goodbye to her newfound friend.

Life seemed to slow to a snail’s pace after that. Corsola no longer had the conviction to attack intruders, now that she had some essence of reasoning, unless they were really annoying or just wandering inside for fun. On occasion, she even helped some outside Pokemon find whatever it was they were looking for. But Corsola kept thinking about going other places, and helping other people. But it wouldn’t work, right? She was a feral, and she was happy being a feral. No use fixing what isn’t broken.

Until one day, that came to an end. Corsola's home within the Coral Forest collapsed due to a fight between two powerful Pokemon, and she was forced to find elsewhere to live. As such, Corsola decided to act on her daydreams. She wasn’t a feral anymore. No excuse not to go and explore the world, right?

With that, Corsola became Cory, and begun traversing across the land. After a long time of travelling, she came across a town known as Grassveil.

» Other:
Cory is scarily good with directions. After living in a dungeon, having a streamlined path really empowers her decision-making. She never veers off any path, ever, and even finds shortcuts without a problem.

Sorry, your Character Bio cannot be approved due to the following reasons:

First of all, I want to say that this is a very well-written and well thought-out character; especially for your first!

However, there were a few issues that need to be ironed out:

1.) PERSONALITY

Minor detail here, but you mention her participating in 'boss' fights. There is more on this subject down below in the History section of my notes, but basically, there are no official 'boss pokemon' on this site.

2.) LIKES/DISLIKES

I think it's a tad bit obvious for a water-type pokemon to like water. If you would like, you can keep that like, but please add another that isn't as obvious. Remember, you're trying to flesh out your character so that others can understand her better.

I almost have the same problem with your second like, diving. Again, it's a little obvious for a water-type to like things like swimming and the water. BUT you also incorporated her dislike for loud noises into the reasons WHY she likes diving, beyond the obvious. Therefore, I'm ok with letting you keep it, just bare in mind that obvious likes/dislikes are typically spurned when accepting characters.

3.) HISTORY

There are several things in your history that do not match up with the site's cannon.

  • "Dungeon Pokemon" -'Dungeon Pokemon' are typically referred to as 'ferals' in the site's cannon and tend to be, as the name suggests, feral, or uncivilized. This isn't to say that they cannot speak, because some feral pokemon do, and some do not. It is acceptable for your character to have been a feral pokemon in the past. However, do note that feral pokemon tend to be uneducated in modern ways and are typically very aggressive and territorial, even amongst each other.

  • Shallow Sound -We do not allow members to create/name their own dungeons within the site's universe, even if it is only a part of a character's backstory, and regardless of whether the dungeon in question is part of the site's landmass. If you would like, you are welcome to use one of our current dungeons as part of your backstory. But be warned that if your character came from one of the dungeons that their energy level does not permit them to reach, they will not be able to go back to that dungeon until the energy requirement is met.

  • Boss Pokemon -In the typical site dungeon, there are not boss pokemon like in the pmd games. Sometimes during site events, Admins will personally spawn in a particularly strong pokemon -typically a legendary- but in everyday adventures and dungeons, there are no 'bosses' of the dungeon.

  • Layout of dungeons -Again, this is where the site and the pmd games differ. While in the games, dungeons can and do change their layouts and natural features regularly, this is not how it works here on the site. While dungeons have much wilder features and are more difficult to traverse than normal wilderness, they do not typically change in layout -barring the recently-discovered Ruined Chateau, but that is because of the ghost and psychic pokemon living there that literally change the layout of the place themselves.

Character has been approved!

**I would like to note one tiny thing -since Coral Forests is defined as a 'water dungeon', only water type pokemon are able to go there currently, therefore a Vulpix going there wouldn't make sense with the current restrictions in place. It wasn't enough to deny the bio though, so just note that for future reference! :)**

Please head over HERE to create your Character Records.  Once you've completed that, go have fun and roleplay!
