» Personality: In a bit of a transitional phase in her life, Shintara's personality is a mixture of somewhat childish aspects and more mature ones. A curious and somewhat cheery individual, she's always intrigued by new surroundings, and it quick to investigate them and check them out, having a somewhat bubbly and enthusiastic outlook on things. This enthusiasm can also be a bad thing though, and she can act brashly in situations without thinking ahead at times. However, after certain events talked about in her history, she has become somewhat strict with other pokemon when it comes to more serious matters, trying to act like her mentor did and trying to help others how she thinks is best, even if in reality, it isn't. She's also somewhat wary and cautious around big groups of pokemon, not wanting to experience anything like what happened to her own group again, and tries to stay away from taking sides in conflicts unless she really has to. Having grown up in a clan off in the desert, she's also not very knowledgeable on customs or how things work in the Grassveil area, making her seem a bit socially oblivious at times.
» Likes:
Pokemon who put effort in- Having had such a strict teacher, she doesn’t have a lot of patience with those who can’t hold their own. But if she sees a pokemon that’s putting their all into something, she’ll have a high respect for them whether they’re successful or not. Likewise, even if somebody is strong but still not trying as hard as they could, she won’t think highly of them.
Water and cool air- Tara grew up in a hot, dry area of the world, where water was rare and the temperatures usually didn’t drop. Because of this, she’s come to enjoy the cooler, more temperate climates in the area, often taking time to stick to the shade when she can. She treasures the water whenever she can find it and is usually eager to hop in.
Indifference- She's a fan of those who don't state things as certainty unless they're sure it's a fact. In her mind, being wrong and acting like you're right is arrogant and closed minded. She prefers pokemon who are willing to be wishy-washy at times on things, and accept other options and possibilities.
» Dislikes:
Messing around during issues- Tara has an extremely low tolerance for those who might joke around or not pay attention during times she thinks they should be more serious. This might make her seem overbearing or humorless at times to others during these sorts of situations, even though she's fairly light at more relaxed times.
Coddling/Pity- Having learned through experience that people won't help her all the time, and due to her personal situation, she's grown to get irritated when others try and help her too much, to the point that she basically takes any show of compassion or any willingness to help out too much as pity, and finds herself outright rejecting it.
Caves- While there's still an airflow in caves, Tara finds that it's weaker there, which in turn, weakens her ability to navigate the area. This makes it annoying for her to spend any time there, especially since something as easy as a rockslide or cave in could block her off from any air, forcing her to rely on another means of navigation besides her sense.
» History: The first daughter of a Liepard and Absol, Shintara was born into a clan of pokemon living out in the desert. It was a harsh area for the group to live, and a place where only the strongest members of the clan would survive. This was one of the reasons why, when it became apparent that Tara had been born blind, her parents immediately feared for her. From the start, she was pressured by her parents and other members of the clan to learn and train to become strong. At first, it was hard for Tara to keep up, but as she grew, she became more capable of using her other senses to help replace her lost sight. In addition to that, her sensing of the weather became slightly stronger, allowing her to use the air currents in the area as a sort of echolocation. Once this was realized, and she began to learn how to utilize this ability, she was able to get a much better start with the group.
Once she was old enough, she began to learn how to fight from the leader of her clan, who was a fairly strict and tough teacher as far as mentors go. He didn't hold back one bit while he trained her, and she came to revere him as possibly the best mentor she could have in her situation, even if she didn't think that way at first. In her time with him, she began to learn strategies and start to come up with her own, also learning how to utilize her moves in battle, though she didn't get a lot of chances at being involved in serious battles, only training through sparring most of the time.
With a setting like the one they were in, conflict in the clan was a given. However, as time passed, the conflict only increased, as tensions ran high between two main factions in the group. When a civil war of sorts finally broke out, Tara took the side of the leader, her mentor, and watched the group she had come to know fall apart. As she saw it, she began to realize the drawbacks to staying in a group, noticing how pokemon who seemed to be friends before fought just because they were on opposite sides. In her mind, there was no point to the conflict.
In the midst of all this, and with her mentor's blessing, Tara and her mother left the clan and traveled away, moving until they could find a place to settle. After a time, the two came to Blackmist Mountain. Older and not wanting to travel much more, Tara's mother opted to stay there, but urged her daughter on to check the rest of the area out on her own, and to find something to do with herself. Somewhat reluctant, but knowing she could probably head back to Blackmist at some point if she wanted to, she went off on her separate way and headed further into the land.
» Other: As stated before, Tara was born blind. As in life, with the loss of her eyesight, her other senses became somewhat stronger, including her sense for the wind currents that predict natural disasters like storms and such. While this doesn't help her sense the weather, her sensing still restricted to natural disasters in that department, it does allow her a sort of echolocation to use by sensing the air currents in the area around her, paying attention to what it bounces off of and recognizing the shape it forms. Of course, this means she can't see anything herself past the shape though, and things with similar shapes can confuse her, including pokemon. For times where the air is more stagnant and still, she's been searching for another way to navigate that doesn't involve wind currents, not finding much as of yet, though coming across a few ideas she has yet to test.
