A Little Backtracking

There seemed to be a rather eerie feeling of calmness in the fog covered area of Black Mist Mountain, though maybe that was just because fog was something that Nate had started to become a bit nervous about. The currently somewhat antsy Pikachu walked through the somewhat cooler area, the rocky ground beneath him chilling him as he did.

"Right, well, no sense freaking out over nothing. It's just fog." He shrugged to himself, aware that nobody else he knew of was around to see so and simply doing it for his own acknowledgement. To be perfectly honest, he hadn't come to the area for any specific reason. Maybe just to search around, and to get used to the setting in case he took another mission there. He wasn't too eager to admit the latter, having botched a job in the same region beforehand, and it wasn't something he was going to let go of easily. It wasn't exactly the first mission he had been unsuccessful in.

"Well, now that you've said that-" Nate was cut off by another shape, one that had gotten around them. The Poochyena darted into him and jumped, ramming itself into the Pikachu with a tackle attack. The mouse pokemon suddenly found himself rolling backwards once more, and the price of using Magnet Rise and the attacks he had taken was starting to take its toll on him. He dropped to the ground, hitting on his back with a slight groan, trying to catch his breath. Everything seemed to be getting hazy, and his limbs ached. The Pikachu wasn't sure he would be able to get back up. And that was a problem.

"Now that I have said what?", the Gengar asked. A short time passed...
"Oh crap."
Turning around as quickly as possible, William spotted something yellow in the middle of the mass of browns and greys, which were bearing down on it.
Quickly he descended into the ground itself, positioning himself directly under the badly battered, beleaguered, bruised, beaten body of his partner before ascending again, carrying the mouse Pokémon's body away from the enemies. They had to get away from here. And that quickly. Hopefully they would have enough time to rest when they reached the Black Spiral Staircase.

As some members of the giant mass of pokemon had caught up to him, their attacking him had hurt at first, but then it started to feel peaceful almost for him. Like he was fading out of consciousness. He was barely aware of William picking him up and carrying him away from the group as his vision started to go dark. Everything seemed to blur together for him, and he could have sworn he had begun to hear voices in his head, sounding familiar but not quite clear enough to know what they were saying. He groaned somewhat, trying to thank the Gengar, but no words coming out in the state he was in.
