Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptyWed Nov 22, 2017 4:56 am

First topic message reminder :

A center of trade and tourism, abundant with attractions and widely known for its warm and inviting atmosphere: Grassveil. Even in the gloom of recent world events, with the overhanging sheet of grey hiding away the sky, this town still seemed to bustle with a refreshing energy. If the residents were bothered, it certainly didn't stop most of them from living their lives, or at least, it didn't seem so to Geo. Not that she was complaining, of course; she loved the area and all it had to offer. She spent a lot of time here, enjoying the scenery of such a happy little town, indulging in all it had to offer. Sometimes she'd go around to shops and see if there was anything to new, or perhaps just revisit places she'd already been to. Other times, she'd go around the guild, considering joining yet again; something always ended up stopping her, but perhaps that was her own lack of confidence. She'd tried quite a few times to find partners to join with, but it never seemed to stick, and she was nervous about joining on her own. However, since evolving, she had grown a great deal more content with herself, and she was starting to want to give it another go.

But, not today.

Today, she was looking to relax and have some fun, whatever that entailed. There were plenty of ways to entertain oneself in Grassveil; perhaps she'd go find someone to chat with, or maybe she'd just head off to the pond to kick back and relax. One thing was for certain: she didn't feel like doing any training on this day, as she'd done more than enough of that lately. Today was a day for herself, one which she hoped to find company for. She had always been sociable, and it was no accident that she was in such a great place for meeting friendly new faces. She was here to enjoy herself, sure, but she was hoping to find some new friends if she could. For some reason, those didn't seem to last too often, which was perhaps due to her doing a lot of meeting other 'mon out in the wilderness and never managing to ask where they lived or set up another meeting. She had trouble finding them again, simply put, and it was kind of hard to find more when she was out training in the forest all the time.

Thus, here she was, wandering the streets of Grassveil Town, searching for anyone or anything that caught her eye. As of yet, she had found nothing in particular, but she was keeping her eyes peeled for any interesting-looking individuals or situations. Maybe she could try, like, an ice cream shop or something. Anyone hanging out at a place selling ice cream had to be nice, right? Or like, maybe she could find a training buddy over at the dojo! Ooh, ooh, or maybe she could find some guild members to hang out with; maybe it'd help get her nerve up! The possibilities were just endless!

Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptySun Jan 07, 2018 11:44 am

The dratini's response was disappointingly neutral, seemingly meant to avoid giving an actual answer. Geo hadn't considered it, but in hindsight she had kind of put him on the spot with a question he probably wasn't comfortable answering just yet. They barely knew each other, so of course he didn't want to risk answering a question about her appearance in a way that would insult her. Of course, she was ready for criticism, or she wouldn't have asked in the first place; but her new friend had no way of knowing that. It was disappointing to be no closer to an answer to this dilemma than before asking about it, but it wasn't a big enough deal for her to press the topic. She was fine with being all pink and girly even if she might have looked cooler in a different color. She wasn't too worried about the stealth issues that came with such a vibrant color since she could just wear a cloak or something if she wanted to blend in with her environment; she just wanted to look good. Sure, she was content with her appearance, but that didn't mean she couldn't improve on it to make it better.

But on the bright side... Osiris seemed to like how she looked. Maybe she'd keep herself as she was after all if he really thought she looked good that way and wasn't just trying to say it. She wasn't self-conscious over what others thought of her, but there was still a certain appeal in knowing someone liked how she looked. Still, the dratini posed an interesting question: did she like the way she looked? She knew she didn't dislike it, but did she like being all pink and frilly and... well, girly? She certainly liked the feelers that came with her form; they looked like kind of bows one would find on a wrapped present, but they were incredibly useful for someone who had spent her entire life as a quadruped. She could grab and hold things with these feelers, and she could wrap them around herself if she really didn't want to look like she had a bunch of ribbons tied to her. As for the rest of her look... well, pink was a nice color, but there were other colors she liked too. It wasn't about not wanting to look feminine necessarily; she just wondered if being black or red or something would look cooler.

But even if she did decide to dye herself, that wasn't something she was going to do on impulse, and she was in the middle of doing something else at the moment. She looked down at herself for a moment before turning to the dratini and shrugging with a cheery smile, "A pink ninja's original, at least." Ninja usually looked dark in appearance to help conceal themselves at night, and wannabe-ninja often copied the coloration just to look edgy, but she could always just wear something black if she needed to. Regardless, she wasn't going to think too hard on it while she was trying to enjoy a nice, relaxing day with her new buddy. She glanced at the "line" in front of her to see they were next up with a heracross being the only thing standing between them and their ice cream. She hadn't paid much mind to who they were behind in line, but the heracross reminded her of one of her friends. This particular one wasn't Aesperus but still served well enough as a reminder of her, and it made Geo wonder how she was doing.

Aesperus was one of the sylveon's old friends she'd planned to join the guild with, but in the end they just never got around to it. They hadn't talked in a while; in fact it had been some time since Geo had seen any of her friends, and at this point she just assumed they had become freelance explorers and lost touch with her. She was happy at the thought that they were probably happy, but it was still a bit lonely... but she could always make more friends! She managed to cheer herself up just in time to see the not-Aesperus heracross walking away with a cone topped with three- no, four scoops of ice cream in different flavors with berries seemingly mixed in, and she was enamored. "Wooooh," she stared in awe at the structure of sweet delight beckoning her. Barely thinking, she rushed forward and spoke with glee: "I want that!" Her head turned to the burly bug and the left feeler on her neck pointed in the same direction, making her desires clear. Stunned expression replaced with a grin full of anticipation, she was suddenly all the more hyped for ice cream. She didn't know for sure what the flavors of the heracross' cone were, but she didn't care.

Once again, Osiris was nothing if not relieved at Geo's response. It seemed like every time he said something to her or in response to something she said, butterflies formed in his belly and he was wracked with anxiety and fear of how she would react. Talking to girls was hard! She didn't seem put out at his rather safe and neutral answer, and for that he was grateful. As open and friendly and exuberant as she was, she also had to be pretty strong. The sylveon had scared the daylights out of him earlier, and she mentioned training daily on top of that; She was not someone that he wanted to upset. Not that he was afraid she would do something to him if she did grow incensed with him, of course, but he wanted to really get on her good side instead of making her angry or sad. Perhaps it was a bit underhanded, but he wanted her to like him - to teach him, show him things. There was so much that she likely knew that he wanted to know. She was living the sort of life that he dreamed about every day. Any kind of knowledge she graced him with would be incredibly helpful, not to mention incredibly exciting. Plus, he just... really liked her. She certainly made an impression, to say the least.

A gleeful grin pasted itself on his snout as Geo reacted somewhat impulsively to the heracross in front of them and his order. The burly fighting bug strode off with a truly impressive one, and her response to it was actually pretty cute. A small rush of heat rose up through him at the sight of her, and if there was a small smattering of color in his face, he was unaware. Instead, his attention was drawn by the jynx at the stall responding to his carefree friend (?), turning to the two of them with a well-practiced smile and determination to serve. He was a semi-regular at this spot, so he was used to seeing her and her partner. Just the sight of the stocky jynx left him with an air of cheer, and as the purple-skinned psychic withdrew a cone from an out-of-sight drawer in her cart his captivated smile grew. "Of course, hun. One four scoop cone comin' right up - what flavors would you like?" The jynx's own voice was slightly scratchy and deep, and he remembered getting the impression that she was getting on in years when she first spoke to him. Not quite old, per se, but definitely mature. The ice type motioned to a small sign sitting on the corner of the stall's counter top, and on it was listed the different ice cream flavors and available berries. Berry on Top wasn't known for having anything truly exotic in terms of selection, but it was the quality of their product and the atmosphere surrounding the small establishment that kept their customers coming back. He didn't have to look at the sign to know what he wanted; a bowl of vanilla with oran always served nicely.

As a small gust of wind blew past, Osiris caught a flash of movement in the large tent behind the cart as its flap fluttered slightly. A moment later it was pushed up and out of the way as the stall's other owner and employee bustled out, carrying a medium-sized barrel in her stocky arms, whatever it was inside sloshing loudly as she held it. It didn't matter how many times he came here - every time he saw the miltank and her jynx partner at work, he was always struck with a sense of awe and respect at how hard they worked. The miltank dropped the barrel carefully next to the jynx behind the cart, a wide and satisfied smile pasted on her face. There was also one other reason why this rather out-of-the-way and humble service was quite popular, and he was excited to bear witness to it once more.

PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptyMon May 07, 2018 2:20 am

The smile plastered on Geo's face only grew bigger with the response of the jynx. The name of her selected order was about as simple as it could get, but all that mattered was the taste... and maybe the presentation. She was then left to make the monumental decision of what flavors she wanted, and while she had obviously been expecting and ready for this, it suddenly felt a little overwhelming now that it was finally time. It probably helped that she was getting something a bit more complex than she had originally planned, providing more layers to the choice presented to her, but she was determined to see it through regardless. She would not be bested by the task of picking her own item to order from a menu, and most certainly not ice cream of all things. She didn't exactly know what flavors were available and wasn't planning on bothering to ask, but she had a pretty good idea of what she wanted already. The first two flavors, at least, were easy, with the remaining ones being a bit more of a challenge. There was the dilemma of the order in which she wanted them as well and it needed to be perfect there were just so many things to decide and... well, overthinking it didn't seem very productive.

"Oran," she started up with perhaps one of the most obvious choices possible. Vanilla was her other immediate choice, but she wanted to save it for the top, and so she paused for a moment and directed her gaze down slightly with a determined look of deep thought. "Lum," she continued, quickly growing more energetic with the overzealous smile immediately falling back over her. "Leppa," she went on to include another very deliberately thought-out flavor, then finally rounded it out with the one she wanted last, "And vanilla! Bottom to top, in that order," She wanted vanilla in specific on top so she could get the sweetest flavor out of the way first; she didn't want to save it for last and risk making herself sick. She had never liked extremely sweet foods before, and while she seemed to enjoy them more nowadays, she still didn't want to overload herself. She assumed the growing tolerance for sweets probably had something to do with her evolution, but maybe her palette was just changing with age.

Regardless, Geo still wasn't a big fan of extremely sweet things, hence her particular selection of flavors. The three berries she'd named were all very well-rounded in taste and none of them were too sweet, while vanilla was perhaps the most plain flavor of ice cream one could ask for. It was a nice day and a frozen treat did sound good, but that didn't mean she wanted something disgustingly sweet. She just hoped she was correct in assuming she could ask for natural flavors instead of just things like chocolate. Having to change her order to something smaller or just flat-out change her mind about the whole thing seemed very awkward, and she didn't want to upset her new friend by making it feel like she was somehow displeased with what they were doing. Granted, she had advocated for this just as much as Osiris had, but the risk of making him feel like he'd made a poor decision was still not one she wanted to take. If anything, she would just tone her order down to a single scoop of vanilla and mitigate the embarrassment.

But she was an optimist, and so she hoped this place would impress and live up to the dragon-worm's praise by offering the exact things she happened to want. She had at least tried to pick out common berries, so it seemed like a reasonable assumption that any decent vendor would have them available, especially if they specialized in serving berries with their ice cream.

Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptySat Aug 11, 2018 4:51 pm

(AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)

The only response from the jynx was a broad smile, easily recognizable on the big, red lips of the pokemon. It was an eager smile and as the psychic type pokemon began to raise her large hands, palms outstretched and fingers spread wide, Osiris was reminded of how much she probably enjoyed her job. It was a good thing that his new friend decided to order something so ambitious - this way, she'd be able to see the marvel of Berry on Top's truly unique service.

Faint purple-pink energy began to coalesce around the jynx's hands, and an assortment of bright lights began to flash around her. A sturdy looking cone floated up from one of the cart's side-compartments, also surrounded by the same purple-pink aura. It gracefully landed on one side of the cart, it's pointed tip bottom just barely touching the surface of it. It began sort of lazy, dreaming spin, the end of it dipping down every so often. From a crate behind her came several different shaped and colored berries, and Osiris recognized them all as leppa and lum. The sight of berries just floating in the air like that was always going to be strange to him, but you couldn't argue against a snack and a show. They deposited themselves on a wooden cutting-board looking dish on the other side of the cart in a very neat fashion, just before an unseen force seemed to crush down on them. Not at all like an invisible hand mindlessly smushing berries against a hard surface, but a practised, precision-typed force clearly out to extract the maximum amount of flavour and juice from each individual berry.

In his mind's eye, Osiris pictured a sort of invisible rolling pin grinding the berries into a fine paste, rather than some intricate psychic technique.

Concurrently, the jynx had taken to a preoccupied, inattentive sort of sway and dance as she worked her mysterious magics. Her hands flitted through the air like an orchestrator conducting, the same lights flashing around them in varying intensity. Iris certainly wasn't a psychic-type pokemon, but he imagined if he was, just using one of the many moves or techniques that she was using would probably drain him. But here she was multitasking masterfully, with an ease borne of anyone who worked a full-time day job.

All the while the miltank stood behind her partner with a well-practiced look of admiration on her face. Absently, she popped a cork on the top of the barrel she had set down a few moments prior, and the motion of which jostled it slightly. Iris could hear the empty spaces inside of it - some sort of thick liquid sloshed inside of it slightly, and it didn't take a genius to put two and two together.

The jynx's right hand, closest to the milk barrel, glided from it to the cart in a sort of beckoning gesture. And, as commanded, a thick stream of creamy looking milk tunnelled outside of it, surrounded by a faint purple misty energy.  Strewn across the edge of the cart closest to the jynx were jars of sugar, vanilla, and various different liquids and toppings, and as her hands' gesture to and fro the berries, milk, and cone, so too did each individual ingredient rise up to join the party. A miniature storm raged on the surface of the cart, a tornado of sweetness. They mixed together seamlessly and with a slightly pinched look of concentration on the jynx's face, they began to solidify. Little wisps of moisture and snowflakes began to surround it, and the temperature around the cart dropped ever-so-slightly as she turned berries, milk, vanilla, sugar, and whatever else she had on hand into a trio of delightfully soft, bulging scoops of ice cream.

A small gesture from her right hand again, and the cone span over gracefully just under the floating ice cream. And from bottom to top, in order; Leppa, lum, and vanilla deposited itself on the cone, the top of it drooping ever-so-slightly under the weight of it all.

"Any toppings, dear?" Her voice was deeply satisfied, rich and strong, and the smile on her face had turned a touch mischevious. All of that and she wasn't even visibly affected - psychic pokemon were crazy! To think that she did this all day, every day, on command... Any doubts that Osiris might have harboured about bringing Geo here evaporated completely. No one could deny that this was impressive as anything. He was starting to rethink his simpe order of vanilla and oran.

Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptyTue Aug 14, 2018 1:11 am

Geo stood patiently and watched with eager eyes, having no idea what to expect but being filled with anticipation regardless. Even from the start, she could tell she wasn't going to be disappointed as the jynx began to levitate things around and practically juggle supplies with her psychic powers. First bringing out the berries and extracting their flavor fresh from the source, then pulling all the other ingredients over and beginning to mix them together, the process was swift and seamless. Geo couldn't help but notice that the presumed co-owner of the shop didn't seem to be... doing anything, which she took to mean the miltank's only job was to make the milk. How did that even... work... Actually, she didn't want to know, least of all when she was about to consume said milk. She instead chose to focus on the masterwork being put on display for her, admiring how easily the jynx managed to pull everything together and pretty much oversee every part of the process simultaneously and on her own.

As admirable and entertaining as it was to watch this nice lady show off her ice-creaming skills, Geo was happy when it finally seemed to be coming to an end, because it meant she could finally enjoy the finished product! The cone was put together about as fluidly as was expected at this point, and she was then offered a topping of choice, which she intended to accept. Going to a place named "Berry On Top" and skipping on the toppings seemed like a dishonor to the name. "Yeah," she nodded eagerly before falling into a visible state of contemplation. This was not, however, due to the choice presented to her; rather, it was something a bit more... complicated. The cone looked great and all, but...

Should I say something? she thought to herself, truly torn between speaking up and remaining silent. The jynx seemed so proud and was probably trying to put on a show for a new customer, and quite a show it was, but... well, she'd gotten then order wrong! Geo had been paying very close attention to every little detail, but it wasn't too hard to see the mistakes in the first place... Not only had the jynx gotten the order of the leppa and lum flavors mixed up, but she'd also completely forgotten about the oran scoop. Admittedly, Geo had been looking forward to experiencing this four-scoop legend, but she wasn't sure she had the heart to point out the mistake. Not only would it surely embarrass and disappoint the jynx, but it would probably do the same thing to Osiris since he was clearly trying to impress as well. It was a truly difficult choice between the sylveon's own satisfaction and her morality.

Alas, the choice was easy, whether she liked it or not. "Oran berries, please," she spoke, her giddy smile and perky demeanor returning as if nothing was wrong at all. The tendril-like feelers around her came to life in preparation for when the cone would finally be handed to her; they weren't very strong, but she was pretty sure she could lift some ice cream with ease, and she wasn't going to let a little hiccup in the ordering process slow her down. It wasn't a big deal anyway; whether it was inside the ice cream or on top of it, the oran berry flavor would be there... and having the order of the flavors mixed up wasn't going to kill her either. Surely, the ice cream would still be just as fantastic as it looked.

Aaand if it wasn't, well, she'd deal with that when she got to it. At least there was still the rest of the day with Osiris to look forward to. If nothing else, the idea of spending the whole day goofing off with a new friend was more than enough for her.

Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptyTue Aug 14, 2018 2:38 am

Iris patiently waited for his turn to order, keeping an idle eye on his company and her reactions to the stall and its service. He felt appropriately giddy when the sylveon witnessed all of the jynx's psychic tomfoolery alongside him. But when she fell into a suspiciously solemn silence at the offer of toppings, he took notice. Geo had been nothing but cheerful and excited in the short time that he knew her - it was an easy enough change to spot. And it only took a moment to realize why. Her order was messed up! She let go of it relatively quickly, simply asking for an oran berry topping instead of pointing out that her oran scoop wasn't given to her. In contrast, the dratini drew back slightly with a perplexed expression - his first date ever, and something like this had to happen! How hard could it be to make ice cream correctly?

He had no idea what kind of moron could misinterpret such a thing. She'd stated what she wanted clearly enough, but it got lost in translation... somehow. It was if some sort of divine hand had floated drunkenly down from the heavens and screwed the jynx up in its incompetence; Such a thing had never happened to him when he came here! And as such, Iris was totally unsure of what he should do. Was he supposed to step in and ask the jynx to redo it? Would Geo get offended if he tried to intervene on her behalf? Would the stall owners get mad and not let him come back for more ice cream?

His personal indecision didn't much matter, because the jynx was quick enough to give Geo what she asked for. She made another motion with her large hand and up floated a generous amount of oran berries, and with a few psychic tricks, she had layered the top of Geo's cone with a layer of oran-colored sprinkles and a large berry on top. The miltank, meanwhile, turned back and ducked into the tent again... probably to make more milk. Osiris didn't much want to imagine it.

"Here you are, hun." With a shooing gesture, Geo's order floated up into the air and into the gentle grasp of her tendrils. There was a pregnant pause in which Iris realized that ice/psychic type was expecting payment.

"I'm with her." It took a moment for his brain to catch up with his mouth and when it did, a furious blush erupted on his face. He slithered a bit closer and rose up so the jynx could see him a bit better. "I mean, erm, it's a double order. I'll pay for both. Can I have a cone, two scoops of vanilla with oran on top?"

The stall owner smiled in acquiescence before working her psychic powers once more, producing his request in short order. To his embarrassment, she'd gotten his right - maybe because it was simple in comparison, but still. Osiris bit down on the strap of his bag, pulling his satchel in front of him. They hadn't talked about who was going to pay for what, but he felt like he should cover it - no point in having Geo pay for a messed up order at a place he took her to. He flipped the top open and set about fishing out the right coinage; two cones, six scoops - he had just enough. And with a tremulous stretching of his tail, he just barely managed to deposit the coins on the very edge of the cart.

"Do you wanna take a table?" The jynx floated his cone down into the grasp of his tail, and Osiris looked up at his company. He wasn't unopposed to a walk n' talk, but given that he had to slither around and he had an ice cream cone to worry about, that might get complicated...

Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptyFri Aug 31, 2018 1:52 pm

It was a little awkward, but there was no way this sylveon was going to spoil the mood with something as little as an error in her order. Besides, on the bright side this meant she would have to pay less, since she was getting one less scoop to pay for! Or... apparently she wouldn't have to pay at all, which she soon learned when her new friend suddenly piped up offering to foot the costs. Geo, for one, had assumed they would be splitting payment, or at least that she would be the one paying... but, well, it seemed rude not to let the dratini have this since he clearly seemed to want it. Let him have his moment, she figured, and take the free ice cream as a bonus. She couldn't say she wasn't happy at not having to spend her own money, of which she had very little, but she still felt a little guilty even though it seemed like Osiris was happy with this. She got the feeling he didn't get many chances to really look good.

In comparison to her own cone, her new friend's was very... vanilla, quite literally. But! It wasn't as if she was going to judge him, especially since she assumed he had already tried some of the more exotic things on this place's menu. One thing she was curious about, though, was how the little serpent was going to carry his ice cream; one perk of being a sylveon was having weird ribbon-tentacle-things, but as far as Geo could tell, dratini didn't have anything of the sort. How was he going to- oh he was using his tail. Well, that was... an option, she supposed, but it seemed awful difficult and inefficient. Did he have to do this every time he wanted to have a snack out in town? Did he maybe... usually have someone to help him carry it? Maybe he was trying to look good and not ask, but he was with someone who had... not quite hands, but definitely the next best thing! And Geo absolutely had a few feelers to spare, so maybe it would be appropriate to offer...

But her new friend spoke up preemptively, proposing they find a table to sit at and effectively solving his problem. Sort of. He was probably trying to get out of having to slither around with his tail awkwardly wrapped around a cone like that. Well, regardless, Geo liked the idea of getting to sit down and chat while she ate her ice cream instead of walking around the whole time. "Yeah, sure," she started up toward the nearest empty table with a nod, but stopped almost immediately and turned back to stare at Osiris for a moment. She looked at his tail in specific, then at him - his face - then... "You uh... want me to carry that?" She didn't want to come off as patronizing or anything, but she figured that she might as well offer, considering how little trouble it would be for her. She only really needed two of her feelers to hold her own cone, which left the other two free and doing nothing. While she still hadn't been using these new appendages for too long, it was coming naturally to her and she was pretty sure she could handle such a simple task with them.

"Not like you can't on your own, it's just... I've got four of these," one of the feelers attached to her ear waved around in front of her as she spoke, as if to show what she was referring to, "And it seems like a waste not to use em. Plus, you already paid, so it's the least I could do." She was alright with whatever Osiris wanted to do, but she felt the need to at least offer. She just hoped she wouldn't be perceived as offensive by implying he needed help, because that wasn't at all what she was trying to do!

"Oh," Honestly, he hadn't even thought of asking Geo and her many extra appendages to just help him out. He was used to using the tip of his tail to carry things, and yeah, it made getting around a huge hassle, but still. He wasn't gonna be that guy and have everyone carry his stuff for him just 'cos he didn't have hands. That was lame. And kind of a jerk move to just assume he could get away with it. But when someone was offering... well, he wasn't above it. "No, yeah, that'd be super, thanks."

Iris raised the tippy top end of his tail up in the air, as far as it would reach wrapped around the cone, and deposited it into the grasp of Geo's ever-so-useful tentacle things. He could probably get a straight answer as to what to call those things if he asked, but he liked thinking of them as flesh tentacles. He thought about what they would feel like as he slithered to the closest table and plopped down. They didn't look all that fuzzy like her fur, and given that they kinda came out of the ribbon maybe they were just cloth. That'd be real inconvenient if one of them caught on fire or got ripped, though.

"So, sylveon, huh?" She'd mentioned her species pretty openly after she scared the living daylights out of him when they met. He wondered if she was fully evolved. He wanted to ask, but that kind of thing seemed rude. Maybe he could just lead into it and she could give him the works. The name slyveon rang some kind of bell for him, but he couldn't quite place it. "Pretty rare around here - I don't think I've seen anyone like you before."

Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptySat Sep 01, 2018 6:46 pm

Geo happily accepted the second cone, wrapping her feelers around it with extra care to ensure it wouldn't be dropped.  She nodded in acknowledgment of the dratini's thanks and followed along as he picked out a table; she didn't care where they talked and happily picked out a seat across from the dragon-worm.  She wondered if she would have to lead the conversation, but fortunately, Osiris came up with something to say before she could even get to thinking.  It was... a question?  Sort of?  At first it was just a statement of the word "sylveon" presented as a question, but it was thankfully elaborated upon, at least enough to respond to.  Sylven were rare around here, Osiris said, before explaining that he had never seen one before.  Geo didn't know too much about her own species, or most others, but she had a pretty good idea as to why there weren't many of her kind around.  "Oh, well sylveon come from eevee, so that's probably why," she responded before pausing to take a lick of her ice cream.

Of course, she was still holding her friend's cone as well, so she made sure to stretch the feelers holding it out far enough for him to reach.  He could take the cone himself or just let her keep holding it; she didn't really care since some of her feelers were probably already going to get sticky anyway.  "You've probably heard of eevee before.  My kind have a lot of evolution paths, so they aren't rare or anything; it's just we get split into different species when we evolve," she continued.  Honestly, she would be surprised if Osiris didn't know what an eevee was, but she felt like her explanation was pretty solid even if that happened to be the case.  "You've probably seen some ex-eevee before and just didn't know it, but they all look kind of alike... I think.  Four legs, big ears, and it's easy to tell if they're a water-type or fire-type or whatever just by looking at them."  That was a good broad description of eevee's evolutions, right?  It was all she could think of to tie them all together, especially since she wasn't too familiar with all of them, so she hoped it was good enough.

Yeah, nah, she wasn't exactly a teacher, but she was pretty sure she'd nailed it.  She only realized after stopping to let Osiris have his turn talking that she'd forgotten something that might have been relevant.  Without even thinking to make sure she wasn't rudely cutting him off, she went ahead and added on, "Oh, I know there's a glaceon in the guild!  His name's, uh... So...da...  Something with an S."  She knew there was at least one other eevee-thing who lived in town because she had met him before!  Well... assuming his situation hadn't changed since then and he was still a member of the guild here in Grassveil.

Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptySun Sep 02, 2018 2:38 am

"Oooh..." That's why it sounded familiar. Everyone had heard of eevee before! The evolution pokemon who could evolve into like any typing. He hadn't met any before, but they were definitely one of the more talked about species. Well, he'd met Geo, so that counted. He wondered idly if eevee could evolve into a dragon type pokemon. What would that end up looking like? A four-legged winged fox thing dragon that probably had fur and scales and fangs and... man, that sounded ugly. He was suddenly glad that Geo ended up as a slyveon. She was cute, and the feelers seemed super handy! The dratini quickly reached up with his tail and took his cone back, idly licking on it as Geo spoke.

The tidbit about a glaceon at the guild was interesting, and he made a mental note of it. He wasn't sure what type that one would be, but he'd find out eventually if he ended up going to the Guild like he was planning. Maybe his dad knew him. Geo seemed strong, so another evolution of eevee was probably strong too - no doubt he'd be acquainted with a dragonite like his dad. Birds of a feather flock together and all that.

"That's gotta be kinda tough though, huh? Being able to evolve any kinda way you want, that is." He knew what his choices would be. Dragon or flying, or maybe fire. Being a water type was probably petty cool too - dratinis were really meant for swimming, and he loved it as much as any other of his kind. Fully-fledged water types might be even more into it. "It's a big choice, innit?"

It was a very good thing that the conversation had taken this turn. Like any other young kid, different kinds of pokemon and evolution were favorite subjects of his and thus allowed him to forget that he was having ice cream with a very cute girl. Otherwise, he'd be tripping all over himself.

Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptyThu Sep 06, 2018 1:54 am

Yep, it sounded like Osiris did, in fact, know of eevee. He didn't seem to know sylveon in specific, but that was fine; Geo really didn't expect others to memorize every one of eevee's evolutions when she herself had trouble with it. In truth, she didn't really know for sure what she would have wanted to evolve into, but it didn't matter due to the circumstances of hers, and she didn't regret what she now was. It was admittedly still a bit embarrassing, but at least it gave her something entertaining to talk about in situations like this. "Well, I guess, usually..." she began, trying to find the best way to explain that her evolution had been a complete accident. What she really wanted was a way to make it look less idiotic than it was, since that was the only part about it that really bothered her, but she was pretty sure she wasn't going to be able to do that.

With a sheepish half-smile, she continued, "But... ahah... I didn't really have to worry about the choice." The more she thought about it, the dumber it sounded in her head, but she wasn't going to let herself be too embarrassed to speak of it. That kind of thinking had actually been quite easy to suppress since this little mishap of turning into a sylveon, so it was more good than bad, really. She just needed to get over how much of a doofus she had been to end up here in the first place... "Someone kinda dared me to eat a bunch of gummis - and I don't even like candy - but... I couldn't let 'em get one over on me like that," she went on, feeling more apprehensive by the second as she neared the big punchline of her evolution, "So I proved I could, aaand turns out an eevee filled with sugar makes a sylveon." She was thankful to have fur that could at least help conceal her blush, but she didn't mind that much if Osiris could tell she was embarrassed.

Besides, the hard part was over, and now anything the sylveon could possibly say to her new friend would be easy in comparison. She perked up almost immediately with that out of the way and took a lick from her ice cream before going on, "It's fine though; I'm happy about how things turned out. I don't know what I would have wanted to be anyway." Maybe it was just because she knew nothing could possibly be more humiliating than her initial transition to this evolution, but she was now happy for it. She felt the most confident and capable that she had in her entire life, and it had all started with her evolution. Plus there were admittedly some practical uses she was pretty sure none of eevee's other evolved forms had, and she had found a lot of use for them. "Plus the feelers are, like, really nice. It's sooo much easier to hold stuff," she quickly added on to emphasize how she felt. Being a big girly pink thing had its advantages to be sure.

Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptyThu Sep 06, 2018 2:46 am

Well. That was probably the most mundane evolution that he had ever heard of. Osiris tried to wrap his head around the fact that eevees could trigger evolution over something as simple as just eating candy. Scratch being a big choice - being an eevee was probably awful! How could you live your life in fear of doing anything so mundane that you might just evolve on the spot? Or maybe it was a mean prank and they were some kind of special candy that was supposed to do that.

"Yeah, I bet that puts you a leg up on the others. Sure would be nice to have hands." Osiris shrugged about as well as a dragon worm could. He'd have arms and legs eventually; He'd seen pictures of dragonites before. 'Til then he just had to get by with his tail. But for someone who used to just have four legs, the feelers had to be a nice surprise. "That's like the next best thing. Maybe even better, since they're all long and they can move all kindsa ways."

The dratini took an idle lick of his ice cream, debating what to talk about next. He knew what he wanted to ask: what was evolving like? But he didn't want to come off as too pleading or desperate to know. It was a long ways off for him anyway. Plus that would totally just highlight how small and young he was. This was like a real date. He could try and pick her brain for stuff later, like how it was exploring outside town and her adventures so far. He didn't think that kind of thing was date material.

Osiris had no idea what two people did on a date, really, besides make kissy faces and be all smushy-mushy romantic. But Geo was cool so she probably wasn't interested in that stuff. And even if she was, it wasn't like she'd have cuties or something. She totally scared the daylights out of him earlier - no matter how girly she looked or sounded, that just wasn't possible.

"So what're you doing in Grassveil?" It took him a minute to realize that his question sounded vaguely interrogate-y, and when he did he flinched minutely. "I mean, uh, I haven't ever seen you around before so. Do you live in town, or...?"

PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptyThu Sep 06, 2018 7:53 pm

Geo nodded in agreement with the sentiment of how useful her feelers were; maybe they were even better than hands.  Well... they didn't have opposable thumbs, but the fact that she had four of them made up for it.  Regardless, they were useful in ways she had never been able to experience as an eevee, and they could do other things too.  Or at least, she was pretty sure they could.  Sylveon were supposed to have the ability to make others feel good with these tentacle-things, supposedly, but she was still learning.  She would have offered to try and show the dratini, but that didn't seem very appropriate... and besides, the conversation was already moving on.  At least Osiris had a short enough attention span to keep up with hers, so she could rest assured that she wasn't being too controlling of the conversation.  Still though, she felt a bit bad that she had gotten pretty much 100% of the spotlight so far.

Well, if they were both enjoying it, then there was no reason to try and change that!  "Technically, I'm currently homeless and jobless," she responded with an unbefitting air of nonchalance for what probably seemed like a serious topic.  But Geo, for one, hadn't self-conscious about such things since evolving.  "But I'm planning to join the guild, just as soon as I find someone to join with," she continued.  In truth, this search of hers had been ongoing for quite some time now, but everyone she found who seemed fun and wanted to join the guild just... didn't pan out.  She didn't see the point in trying to get a home or a job when the guild would provide both of those things once she joined, but she also didn't want to join alone or end up on some stranger's team.  She really needed to hurry up and find someone though, so she could finally continue pursuing her dream... and also earn some money.

Yeah, her metaphorical wallet was pretty much empty and her equally metaphorical bank account was dry.  She would need to get some money somehow, and soon...  Well, maybe this dratini could help her out with that!  If it turned out he was a decent enough explorer during their trip out to the forest, maybe they could try a little treasure-hunting and get some extra money, or at least... like... stuff.  A trip to a dungeon rarely yielded nothing at all, at least, based on her experience.  Well, the experience of others more than her own.  She took another lick of her ice cream, now growing interested in finishing this quickly so they could get to the fun part.

That sounded ominous. Well, maybe not ominous exactly, but definitely foreboding. Promising? Geo definitely left something go unsaid as she finished speaking. Considering that they'd agreed to go to the forest together, one could connect the dots and assume that if he did well enough, if he pulled his weight and proved dependable, maybe he could join the guild with her. It definitely lined up with his current interests at least. He wasn't planning on cooling his scales at school forever. Heck, he was already pushing his luck by going out on a few little escapades on his own - thankfully none of them ever went bad, but the lust for adventure was strong. And getting into the guild with Geo...

Man, that'd just be the coolest ever. He'd be on a rescue team with a girl, and a cool girl at that. He'd be a legend around town! All of his friends and classmates would be totally jealous of how he got to go kick butt with a cute sylveon and get paid for it. Still, he had to prove his worth first, and that meant doing well on their little trip. And the first step to doing that was getting the ice-cream part of their day out of the way.

"Yah-well-I-fink-yer-gonna-find-shomeone-shoon." Suddenly invigorated, Osiris set about taking care of the two-scoop cone that he was holding in front of him. Talking while simultaneously making out with an ice cream that's half your size is easier said than done as well, so his delivery wasn't quite up to par. He made a valiant effort though, and with a mighty gulp, he'd taken a sizable chunk out of his conquest. "Grassveil's full of people who wanna join the guild 'cos it's so awesome. Everyone's dreamed about it at least once, you know?

Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Glorified Toddlers   Glorified Toddlers - Page 3 EmptySun Nov 18, 2018 11:43 pm

All of a sudden, Osiris was gorging himself while trying to speak through his ice cream. He didn't seem that hungry before, so... Geo couldn't help but wonder if it was something she'd said. Was he trying to hurry through this because he wasn't having fun? Or... maybe... maybe he wanted to finish before her! Yes, that was surely the reason behind this sudden shift in behavior; this was now a competition, and she didn't intend to lose. With a mighty chomp, she engulfed what remained of the top scoop of her own ice cream, suppressing a wince at the flood of cold and sweet sensations. She really didn't like having this much sweetness in her mouth at once, but she was certainly no stranger to it. Actually, that was the whole reason behind her becoming a sylveon in the first place... which probably should have taught her a lesson about something here, but nope.

As she devoured her ice cream with unnatural haste, she realized she was still in the middle of a conversation. "Oh, mhm-" she paused to swallow, "The guild's like, this town's biggest attraction, right? Everyone everywhere knows about it, and every kid around wants to sign up!" With a cheery nod of self-confirmation, she then practically inhaled another segment of her rapidly diminishing ice cream tower. She hardly even chewed before swallowing, just as eager to continue this conversation as she was to win what she was perceiving as a contest. "Aileron has a guild too, and supposedly, it's better; all high-class and fancy and stuff. But everyone still wants to come here, so it must-" she abruptly stopped, and after a moment's delay, her feelers suddenly wrapped around her head.

"Aaaaa- mmmmuuuh," she murmured and whined as her ears flattened at the sudden onslaught of piercing pain in her head. In her rush to finish her ice cream first, she had completely forgotten the risk of an agonizing headache that came with scarfing down cold things. Perhaps this had been a stupid idea. Actually, in hindsight, it probably wasn't even a competition in the first place; Iris was likely just excited to get to the fun stuff. Geo now felt thoroughly silly - and pained on top of that - but it was a little too late to turn back now. Still in the midst of a hailstorm in her head, she willed herself to take another hearty bite out of her ice cream and shivered in response to the almost immediate sting of renewed pain. Nonetheless, she'd set out to do something and she was determined to do it.
