Pure Darkness

Noel stepped into the large opening may called the Obsidian Crevice, Noel reached inside her pack and pulled out two sitrus berries, both for her. Noel stood at the entrance eating the berries, the trek here wasn't kind to her, she really needed those berries right now, as Noel did this she looked down to the seemingly bottomless Crevice, Noel picked up a rock and threw it down just to see how deep it went. Noel waited a few moments, then at least a minute and still no noise to indicate it had hit the bottom. "Well, that's comforting." Noel muttered out and began her trek down into the darkness.

"Maybe i should of asked Jak to come along, Nah i bother him enough he has his own problems to deal with." Noel spoke to herself while making her way down, best worry someone too much, Noel even slightly doubted Jak would follow her here, this wasn't the kindest of places to be.

Energy 59 (59-30+30 2 Sitrus)

Lumina woke up to the sound of her own breathing. The first thing she felt was a dull pain in her flank and paws. The Fox Pokemon heaved herself up to her feet, the world spinning around her as she blinked black dots out of her vision. Obsidian Crevice...? Yes, that's where she was. She cringed as she tried to regain her bearings. Oh, she had been stupid... Why had she let this happen? For someone who prided themselves on their knowledge, she let her guard drop much too easily. She mentally kicked herself as she tested each of her four paws, checking if any were broken or sprained. They weren't, thank Arceus. Apparently her karma wasn't that bad. Her chances of getting out of here would've dropped even lower if she'd broken a bone.

She quickly reflected on what chain of events had lead her here. She thought that her job at the guild might eventually lead her here, so she decided to do a little scouting. She had her guild badge ready, which could warp her out of a Mystery Dungeon if things got messy. She hadn't planned on going very far in, anyways. She was walking along the edge of the Mystery Dungeon when the unthinkable had happened. She'd tripped...? No, that wasn't right. She could never be that careless or clumsy. She was stumped for a moment before she finally remembered.

She'd been pushed.

She hadn't expected any Pokemon outside of a Mystery Dungeon. It had taken her completely by surprise. Damn it Lumina... you're better than that! Why did you let your guard down? You aren't a moron, so stop acting like one! She scolded herself, taking a few deep breaths. She checked her items quickly. Most of them were still here, but her badge was gone. Probably lost it in the fall. Drat... there went her escape route. No use crying about it, that never helped anything. She'd just have to get out of here the old fashioned way. She dug her claws into the rocky ground, trying to calm herself down. It was hardly an exaggeration to say this was one of the worst scenarios she had ever landed herself in.

No, she couldn't think like that. She had been pushed, but she wasn't too badly wounded. That meant she couldn't have fallen that far into the dungeon, or else, well, she'd already be dead from the impact of hitting the ground. She was skilled, she was smart. Her Heal Ribbon was still tied around her foreleg. She just needed to hold on, and she'd recover over time. She was fine. She'd get out of here. She repeated that statement in her mind until she'd begun to believe it. She considered calling out to see if there was any help nearby, but for now she decided against it. She was more likely to catch the attention of a foe than a friend. She pushed herself forward, breathing heavily as she did so. She was fine. She was fine.

Energy: 6 (-30 from entry)

Noel stopped for a moment, she had thought she heard something before she entered but now she was sure of it, it was the sound of heavy breathing. Considering the silence she had been accustomed to while waiting to go in the dungeon it was easy to make out. Noel started moving slower then before, her footsteps made little to no noise on the ground where she walked, having no idea the danger here it was safer to not try and rush ahead, considering her vision in this place would worse considering the darkness, having little time to become accustomed to the darkness it would make it harder to actually fight here, best to avoid most conflict.

Noel seemed to be making better time then whoever was breathing heavy, the breathing was a slightly dead giveaway to a position though in the darkness Noel wouldn't be that certain until she was close enough. Noel then mentally slapped herself remembering she was a freaking Lucario, she had the Aura on her side. Noel kneed down pressing one paw against the ground trying to focus on using her Aura sense to find what she was looking for.

Noel then had a thought, instead of using her Aura and sneaking up she decided to call out, Noel had ended up walking farther from the exit then she thought but no Feral Pokemon were normally around this close to the entrance. "Hello?" Noel called out but that would be the only time she'd do it, even if it was a normaly Pokemon best to not chance it too much.

There was a voice, coming from somewhere nearby. Her heart pounded, and Lumina, still on guard, swivelled her head around in the direction of the voice. It was too dark to see anything, however. Was it the Pokemon who pushed her, trying to find her again? Maybe it was trying to take her things. Maybe it thought the fall didn't do her in. Feeling wary, and honestly a bit scared, she backed away from the direction of the voice. It wasn't the most honorable of tactics, but she couldn't risk a battle. At least until her Heal Ribbon set in. She turned around and dashed away into the darkness without a word, quieting her breathes as best she was able.

Maybe this was another explorer, but really, what were the odds of that? This was a tough Mystery Dungeon. Not just anyone could make it through here. It was nowhere near worth the risk. She could only hope this Pokemon didn't have any kind of aura-sensing ability like Noel. If it did, well... running would only waste her energy. She'd have to fight it, if it turned out that was the case. But things hadn't come to that yet, and it was too much of a risk for Lumina to jump straight to fighting. She stepped as softly as she could while keeping up a decent pace, her ears perked as she tried to tell if the stranger was following her. She just needed to keep her wits about her here...

Noel waited a little bit to see if something would respond, after a bit Noel decided to resort to her Aura sensing abilities to find out who this was, what she did find slightly shocked her. "Maybe i should pursue" Noel questioned the went after them, she forgot about sensing who it was then started moving, Noel pursued but still tried to keep her steps silent, though against the silent dark cave she couldn't help but make some noise as she moved.

Noel stopped then decided to add something, if the first response was to run then this Pokemon was obviously not Feral. "Hey, I'm not Feral, My names Noel, are you Ok?" Noel called out, if you were in this Dungeon you weren't going to run, you'd have to fight so if this Pokemon was running, there was a chance they were in danger, or they thought Noel was a Feral, either or.

Abruptly, the Vulpix skidded to a stop. Speaking of Noel... it couldn't be, could it? She was probably strong enough to make it here, but something made the fire type hesitate. It could still be some kind of illusion or trap, and she was not getting taken by surprise again. Anyone who asked around Grassveil a bit could tell someone that she often explored with Noel. "Noel?" She questioned, her ears flattening warily. "Stay back. If this is another one of your traps, it's past the point I could strike back in self defense." She warned. She wasn't going to attack just yet, on the chance that this really was one of her few friends. But she was certainly taking it with a grain of salt, something about this just seemed much too convenient. Her brown eyes narrowed and she took another small step back.

"Prove it's you, quickly." She commanded. If this really was Noel, she'd get over the fact that Lumina was a little paranoid after what she'd just been through. If it was the foe who'd pushed her before, then she wasn't falling into their trap. Recognising her voice, or her aura, was one of the vixen's tests. She hadn't recognised Noel's voice at first, true, but she'd only spoken a single word. Plus, well, she was more than a little shaken by what had just happened. Understandably so, she hoped. She'd tell the Lucario what happened, as soon as she was sure it was really her. "Tell me something only Noel would know."

Noel let out a small sigh, Lumina always the cautious type, Noel was slightly surprised to was Lumina, though Noel knew best what they've been through. "While you were on that mission to find the Solrock i randomly dropped in the sand because a bird carried me to the dungeon for some unknown reason, We also fought a Drowzee that was using Psychic to control the Pokemon in the dungeon to turn them into mindless drones for a while." Noel called out giving out two points to why this was her and not some random Pokemon, but Noel decided to stop there for now thinking that was proof enough.

Noel then walked towards Lumina, the red scarf the Lucario always wore was hanging on her which normally served as proof it was her, though it might not of been seen in the darkness.

The Vulpix was motionless until she saw the sight of something that seemed red, her eyes finally beginning to adjust to the darkness. She stifled a relieved sigh, and began to breath normally again. "Thank Arceus it's you. You'd have no idea what just happened..." She shook her head, stepping a bit closer to the taller Pokemon. It was still a bit hard to see in the darkness, but it was a Lucario. There was still the slightest chance this might not be what it looked like, but she'd have to stretch her imagination to think up a scenario in which this wasn't Noel. She hated to admit it, but she really could use the help here.

"It's... it's been a while. How have you been?" She paused at first, unsure of what to say. Admitting what just happened might only cause her needless worry... but if Noel could tell in the low light, it was clear that something bad had happened. Her behaviour had been enough of a giveaway. 'if this is another one of your traps', 'you'd have no idea what just happened'... why did she say that? That was a major red flag right there. Maybe it would fly over the Lucario's head, but Lumina doubted it. She was no tactician, at least in her eyes, but Noel wasn't stupid. As embarassing as it was to admit she had her guard down, she couldn't quite dance around the subject if it was brought up.

"I've been good, just doing my normal thing training." Noel said looking at Lumina, what she said rang through her head. 'Thank Arceus It's you..You'd have no idea what happened.' Noel shook her head just happy to see her friend again. Noel bent down to get a slightly better look at Lumina, considering the breathing, the words Lumina decided to say and even considering she test Noel, something was obviously the matter. "Lumina, Are you Ok?" Noel asked concerned for her friend, Noel knew she had a habit of doing something like that, taking on her own problems not vocal about it but this was one case where it wouldn't work.

"I heard someone breathing heavy a little bit back, that was you wasn't it." Noel said wondering what could of happened, her eyes hadn't adjusted yet so she couldn't see any damage yet.

"It was." She admitted. She couldn't really deny it. Her head was still throbbing too much for her to come up with a good enough cover story to just brush it off as 'nothing'. "I was just taken by surprise and knocked into this Mystery Dungeon. I thought you might've been my attacker for a moment there... but, I'm fine. I didn't fall too far in the first place." She explained. She couldn't exactly pretend it didn't happen, but she could at least try to prevent her friend from worrying. She was still on guard, but making Noel fear for her wouldn't accomplish anything. Not to mention it would make her feel pathetic to be pitied... more pathetic than she already felt, at any rate, being caught by surprise like that and loosing her badge.

Noel nodded. "Well alright, just wanted to make sure you were alright." Noel said going back to her normal standing position. "Just wanted to make sure you're alright." Noel said not wanting to pity her for getting hit from behind, that happens all the time. "I came here to see how much stronger I've gotten, It's good to see a friend again, despite the circumstances that brought it about." Noel spoke then wondered where they were exactly, she had been following Lumina she slightly lost the path, everything was so dark after all.

She was pretty calm for someone just fell down a cliff, wasn't she...? She hadn't fallen very far, though. If she'd broken or sprained anything, it looked like her Heal Ribbon took care of it before she woke up. She'd panicked for a minute there... but she was with one of her strongest allies now. She felt a good deal less anxious now that she wasn't alone here. The two of them had landed in situations like this before, though this was on a much larger scale. Obsidian Crevice wasn't a place to be toyed with, especially now that there was that problem with the dark cloud... "I appreciate the concern." She broke off her train of thought and nodded, though Noel probably couldn't tell in the dark. If only Lumina had brought something to burn. Lighting things on fire was a surprisingly valueable skill to have. "... It's nice to see you as well. It's been a while, hasn't it? ... I don't suppose you have anything we can make a torch out of?"

Noel looked in her pack, since it was dark she had to feel around a bit to find what she was looking for, though when she touched it she instantly knew what it was. Noel pulled out the object, it was a stick. "Ya i got this stick, guess we could make a torch out of it, kinda reminds me of when we were in Serene cave." Noel said seeing as they did the same thing in that dark cave, Noel took a step back not knowing what move Lumina was going to use to light the stick. "Alright light it up." Noel said trusting Lumina Not to hit her.

Meanwhile while Noel and Lumina were doing that, something sat in the darkness staring at the two of them, not making any movements towards or away, just staring at the duo.

Energy: 52 (59-7)

Lumina knew it would take more than a single strike to defeat Noel, but she was still cautious, not wanting to hurt her ally. "Be careful. You may want to stand back." She warned simply. The Vulpix took a moment to gather her inner fire, then exhaled a bright burst of flames from her mouth. The Flamethrower attack was angled away from Noel in order to avoid hitting the Lucario. She could feel the heat of the fire she summoned, and though she found the warmth pleasant, a good number of Pokemon would think otherwise. After a moment the fire died down, and with any luck, the two explorers would have a torch in it's place. Hopefully, she hadn't burnt the stick. She had done that when she first learned Fire Spin, back in Serene Cave, and Flamethrower was doubtlessly an even more powerful move.

Noel stood firm keeping the stick in the fire, just the tip so it wouldn't burn out to fast, it was the only stick she had on hand, it was easily noted by the flamethrower which showed the entire part of the area they were in, once the flamethrower was done though it became a more dimly lite part, enough to see where one would be heading but not enough to see if something was charging from a distance. "This'll do, better then stumbling around in the dark." Noel said looking around, Noel looked in the distance thinking she saw a pair of eyes, squinting to see she eventually found nothing there, Noel shook her head thinking she was seeing things.

"Well let's get a move on." Noel said but stopped for a moment, the light had shown a few items littered about, one strange looking item in the mix, Noel picked up the silver item and looked at it. "Isn't this, uhh what's it called." Noel said mind straining to remember the item name. "Oh ya a metal coat."
