| A small, yellow Pokemon with large tufts of red fur in it's ears slowly made its way through the tall, marshy grass, a tiny grin ever present on its face. The Pokemon was quadrupedal and lupine in shape, it's tiny silhouette only visible when the tall grasses it was sneaking through bent around it. The Pokemon was a female Fennekin named Mercury. The marsh wasn't exactly an ideal place for a fire-type like a Fennekin, but Mercury wasn't really picky about where she played her games.

| Another small fox approached the marsh, one a bit taller than the one chasing another, but this one seemed to have a bit of a confidence in her step. This was a new area, a new chance to mess with others and get some items that could prove to be useful to her. Any item will do at this point, but she hoped for some powerful item, perhaps a joy seed? Some TMs? Evolution Item? Something that pokemon would kill to get their paws on, something she could cause a bit of trouble with. She hadn't really done anything malicious lately, she couldn't make a living if she didn't steal, right? | |

| The smaller fox didn't even notice the larger fox Pokemon approach at first; she was too busy doing... whatever it was she was doing. Chasing dust maybe? Mercury had a habit of coming up with weird games for herself and her friends to play. Occasionally, Merc would claim dust particles and then defend them with her tiny little life, or at least she would defend them until she got distracted by something else. She would also occasionally follow her own tracks around under the impression that she was following another pokemon.
As she was making another turn, Mercury noticed the other fox Pokemon. Intrigued, her tail flicked around excitedly and she began to trot over to the other Pokemon.

| Mirage blinked as a pokemon suddenly approached her, this was odd. What was this strange pokemon? It looked similar to a vulpix, but yet it had a variety of differences. Was this some kind of weirdly trimmed Vulpix? The zorua merely stared for a moment as it continued to approach, "Um...can I help you?" she asked in a bit of a rude tone, after all this pokemon was approaching her all of a sudden, and the zorua wasn't equipped for these awkward, at least to her, social situations/ | |

| "Hi! I'm Mercury!" Mercury grinned, completely oblivious to the rude tone. "I was playing a fun game just now; I was following this bushy yellow thing around. I was gonna play another game with it, but somehow I just couldn't catch up to it. So, I thought I'd come talk to you instead! Cause you aren't moving as fast." Mercury continued to beam at the Pokemon with an intensity unknown to pokekind. "So who're you, friend? I mean, normally I don't ask my friends names, we just start playing games right away. But I'd like to know yours because you seem pretty cool and also you're bigger than me and that's pretty neat!" | |

| Mirage merely stared as if this pokemon had done lost its mind. She blinked and spoke, "uh...ok..." she backed a way a bit, feeling like the beaming smile was staring into her very soul for a bit before continuing what she was saying, "So uh, do you always just introduce yourself to random strangers? There's some pretty nasty pokemon about you know." Here we go, this smaller fox could have something of worth or be useful. It was time to let it become "friends" with her, before she would eventually beat it for its belongings or likely leave it for dead. That's what an outlaw does. That's what she must do. | |

| "Nope, I don't!" Mercury grinned back. "In fact, most of the time nobody even wants to greet me! They're too busy playing a super fun game with me!" She ran around excitedly in a circle to emphasize her point. "People say I'm really good at games!!! They always say I'm really good at being a thief, whatever that is. I guess it just means the pokemon in the game who takes the item and hides it!!!" Mercury grinned more. "That's my favorite game!! I hide and surprise my friends, grab an item of theirs, and then run!!! If they can't find me by midnight, they lose!!!" | |

| "uh-huh..." Mirage spoke, "That's called stealing. It's something outlaws and other bad pokemon do," the zorua spoke, her neck straightening to emphasize her bigger appearance. This pokemon was a thief huh? Maybe it had a trove of treasures somewhere hidden away, and was trying to lead her to a false sense of security with its rather dim witted personality. "You know that stealing from another outlaw isn't quite the best idea, right?" the zorua keyed in to the fennekin. She was attempting to get the fennekin to become intimidated now that she had "figured" out its plan, and that she was another bigger and stronger outlaw, and force it to lead her to its treasures. | "Yeah, that's it!! The stealing game!!" Mercury exclaimed with glee. "You know it too? Oh, that's so cool! Maybe we could find someone to play with sometime! I've never played a co-op game before!!!" Mercury's eyes glistened with excitement; she was completely taken with this new idea and unintentionally thwarted Mirage's attempts to intimidate her. Mercury just could not stop thinking about this new concept of "playing together," which was very different from "playing with." It would be so strange, having a pokemon on her side instead of always being in single-player mode.
"Do ya wanna play now? We could find some pokemon in the marsh and get them to play a round with us!!" Mercury beamed. She noticed a group of three water pokemon off in the distance; a Poliwhirl, a Poliwag, and a Lotad. "What about them? They cpould be good opponents!" she grinned.

| "Opponents!?" Mirage exclaimed, finding the thought of attempting to fight three pokemon at once horrifying, especially when this little...fire type was it? Was weak to water type moves, which all three of the pokemon were. She wasn't sure just what kind of pokemon this was, a fire type? Or many some kind of ground type by the yellow coloring on her fur. Those red tufts suggested fire type as well, pokemon usually matched their colors with their types, she wasn't sure why, but that was generally a good way of determining types of pokemon just from appearance. | |
