Convention of Magicals
HISTORY
Several thousand years ago, the Earth was a fairly young planet, and as were the races who lived on it. The species of Earth were divided by classifications. There were the Immortals, the Mortals, and the Undead. The Immortal races included the Fae, Dragons, Werewolves, and Vampires. The Undead were not just a classification but a species in and of itself, divided into subgroups such as wraiths, zombies, and liches. The Mortal races included the Fair Folk subgroups, Elves, and humans.
For a time, the three classifications lived in a shaky harmony, broken only by small skirmishes among them.
Then one day the race of the Fae experienced a split in its ranks. There were those who worshipped the Moon and the darkness that night brought across the land, and who believed that only Shadow Magic should exist and rule over all of the Earth. In opposition were those who worshipped the Sun and the light that it spread over the land, and who believed that Light Magic was the only way to rid the Earth of the 'evil' that was Shadow Magic.
With this split in the Fae race, soon every race was choosing its own side: that of the Shadows or that of the Light.
Two factions formed under these banners: those who believed in Light Magic became known collectively as the Light Sidhe Order, and those who believed in Shadow Magic became known collectively as the Dark Sidhe Alliance.
Though there were good and bad people on both sides, the Light Sidhe Order purported that the Dark Sidhe Alliance was made only of evil folks, which enraged the Dark Sidhe Alliance, who accused the Light Sidhe of the same.
The tension grew between the two factions as those who desired to be neutral looked on in horror.
One day the tension broke with the simultanious murder of the Leaders of the Light Sidhe and the Dark Sidhe and the two factions declared war on each other.
Those who had desired to be neutral broke off from their factions and created their own Order: that of the Grey Sidhe Loners, for they had no wish to fight.
The Dark Sidhe and the Light Sidhe fought for many long years, neither giving in to the other for to do so would be to admit their wrongdoing. It got to the point that if the two factions continued to fight, the Earth would not be able to withstand the wrath of the magic, and it became known that another battle would end the existance of all who lived and unlived on the Earth.
The Treaty of Life was created, binding all creatures of Earth to promise never to fight like what was fought in the Ancient War and that all issues would be discussed by a Debate, to be held at a Convention every five years in the capitol of one of the races. This tradition continues to this day.
Species:
-Undead (Dark Sidhe)
Undead are... the undead. XD This is a separate species from Vampires and Werewolves, who are classified as 'Immortals' along with the Fae. This species includes the subgroups of wraiths, ghouls, zombies, etc.
-Werewolves (Light Sidhe)
Humans infected with Lycanthropy. Can turn into a wolf at will. On the Full Moon, they cannot change back to humans, and to continue their lives must complete a ritual that includes a Hunt with ritualistic chants and such (more to come)
-Vampires (Dark Sidhe)
Humans infected with Vampirism. Immortality based on drinking magical blood at least once a month. Faster and stronger than a normal human by 5x. Can drink human and animal blood, and it will sustain them, but magical blood must be consumed at least once during a month or the vampire will slip into a severe sickness and fade away over the course of a very painful week.
-Mages (Light Sidhe)
Humans with the abilities over the elements, such as air, earth, fire, water, etc. Live about 50 years longer than a normal human, averaging about 130 years when they die. Very connected to the spirits of the Earth and with animals. They have a Spirit Animal companion who chooses them when they come of Magical Maturity. This Spirit Animal helps them with their magic, and if the Mage dies, their Spirit Animal dies as well. Conversely, when a Spirit Animal is wounded, the Mage's energy is weakened.
-Warlocks (Dark Sidhe)
Humans who worship the Devil and his Demon Horde. Use rituals and dark magic to enslave lower level demons to do their bidding. They can live for thousands of years because of their dark magics, but few ever do because of the hazardous nature of their magics.
-Wizards/witches (Grey Sidhe)
Humans with magical abilities based on Latin and Greek magics of old. (think harry potter spells). They have several classes of magic they can focus on, such as Transmutation, Charmwork, Potions, Alchemy, and Runes. Most diverse of the Magical Humans Classification.
-Dragons
Connected to the Earth Spirits like Mages are. The Rulers of the subspecies of dragons are often selected as "mortal" Avatars of the Earth Spirits. (as mortal as dragons can be) Dragons live thousands of years
Fire Dragons -Fire Dragons are your typical 'western' dragon, with four limbs and two wings, and breathe fire. (Dark Sidhe)
Water Dragons are your typical 'Eastern' dragon, with a long, sinuous body and two/four limbs and no wings. (Light Sidhe)
Frost Dragons are your typical Wyvern, with two wings and two limbs, with leathery white/grey skin rather than scales. (Light Sidhe)
Wind Dragons are also your typical Wyvern, but with blue or white scaly hides. (Light Sidhe)
Earth Dragons are your typical drake with four limbs and no wings. (Dark Sidhe)
Metal Dragons are also your typical drake, but their hides are made of a special metal of fused gemstones created from the metal dragon's diet of daily gems. (Dark Sidhe.)
-Fae
The Classification of the Fae Species falls under Immortals as the first Immortals of the Earth. Fae are spirits of immense power, often mistaken as gods to lowly humans. In several parts of the Earth, certain groups of Fae have become enamoured with their own power and begun to believe what the humans say about them, believing themselves as gods. (Greece, Egypt, Nordic regions, etc) A character of this class MUST be a hybrid to weaken the OPness of the character. (NPCs of Pure Fae will be in the Discussion Room, ask if you wanna RP an NPC of this) Choose between Dark/Light Sidhe
-Fair Folk
Trolls -Dark
Orcs -Dark
Giants -Light
Pixies -both
Dwarves -both
Satyrs -Light
Centaurs -both
Goblins -Dark
Gremlins -Dark
Boggarts -Dark
Gnomes -Light
Unicorns -Both
-Elves
Light Elves (Light Sidhe) are typically mages
Dark Elves (Dark Sidhe) are typically warlocks
Grey Elves (Grey Sidhe) are typically witches/wizards
-Hybrids
self-explanatory I think. Hybrids can have up to three different species in their ancestory. They do have to be two generations split from their original species though to limit OPness
-Humans
humans are humans. But really why would you want to RP a human with all of these other cool species, most of which hurt/eat/suck souls from humans? To play a human character, you would have to either be a servant to a magical being or be married/mated to one.
Plot:
Every five years, a great convention is held celebrating the Treaty of Life between all Magical Beings. At this Convention, representatives of all species gather in peace to discuss issues of the past years and renew laws, territories, and rights between Magicals. The Convention is a week-long event consisting of not only discussions and debates (yay), but also contests, carnivals, feasts, and other events (such as contests of strength and such).
Discussion/Debate Topics for this year's Convention (WIP):
-Dark Elves have intruded on Fae Territory and they wanna know why
-Water Dragons what their territorial boundaries extended
-Talk of a territory for normal humans to be safe from hunting (this topic has been discussed many times before and has always been denied.)
Power Classes:
Mages -practice elemental magics
Warlocks -practice demonic magics
Witches/Wizards -practice Arcane magics
Warriors -mainly meelee fighters
Archers -mainly ranged fighters
Bounty Hunters/Assassins -silent killers
Scholars -Use Charisma to get out/stay out of fights (often handy with knives for when their charisma doesn't work)
Priests -Use the powers granted to them by the Light Spirit to protect themselves
*Anyone can choose to be a Grey Sidhe, but you must have a reason In Character*
