The Kingdom Lillia was much like a capital to the land of Sempitortus, or "Eternally East". Blessed by the fragile yet formidable element of the Fairy, which even dominated the formerly superior element of the Dragon, it inspired many (if not all) of the resident Kingdoms of Sempitortus to swear full or at least half alliances with Lillia, commonly through Binding their nobility.

The most important figures in the nobility were the Princes and Princesses born to each family within a kingdom, and the "Binding" of Nobility was an essential process in order to maintain balance itself. It entailed binding the very being of one kingdom's Prince to another's Princess in order to stir a mysterious power enshrined only in the noble lineages alight. As long as the two involved have compatible energies, the mysterious power that is sparked as a result will create and maintain peace in the kingdom throughout the two individuals' reign or co-reign. After binding the Prince and Princess involved could choose whichever or not they wish to be wed (although it is commonly encouraged that they do for image purposes), however neither can ever have another partner; romantic or otherwise.

It is rare to see noble individuals with real love between them come together in binding, or matrimony for that matter.

Princesses and Princes have different roles within their Kingdoms, but there is a general rule that Princes handle all combat while Princesses are political figures who stay within the Kingdom. Princesses are also typically held in higher regard. When a Prince and a Princess are bound, it is the Prince who leaves his Kingdom in order to join the Princess's. More specifically, he joins the Princess's royal family, as many Kingdoms have two or more families to their name.

Sempitortus and all the Kingdoms within were largely overseen by a counsel of Elder Nobles, all of whom were Princes and Princesses of the highest families in each kingdom. Upon graduating into this elite gathering of nobles, however, their titles would be changed to King or Queen, respectively. Each Elder Noble was blessed by at least one Mytho (a legendary, god-like creature) and was represented by their single Patron, or a creature possessed by the same element that possesses their Kingdom. Every single Prince and Princess has a Patron (although it's common for other creatures to swear allegiance to them), but only select heirs from the high families are blessed by mythos. In addition, those who have Patrons that can transcend their form are considered superior nobility regardless of their family and can be accepted into the Council without a Mytho blessing; those who have served on the counsel and have both transcending Patrons and Mytho blessings make up a tiny society that is the absolute authority of this system.

Of all the things the Elder Nobles had their hands in, the Princes and Princesses were one of their greatest concerns. From birth, they saw to it that the tiny nobles were practically brainwashed with nationalism and a sense of duty to their Kingdom, much as they themselves had been. Politics, maintaining a stable kingdom; all these things and others like them were spoon-fed and progressively beaten into each noble-born baby under the Elder's command.

More than anything, they were determined to maintain their control.
