Forging Fire - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Forging Fire   Forging Fire - Page 3 EmptyTue Jan 14, 2014 4:43 pm

First topic message reminder :

It was a pleasantly calm day and Violet was sitting neatly in the grass outside of her dojo, munching on what could only be described as an absolutely delicious looking slice of pecha pie. The golden brown crust had a slight sugary taste and the inside was a pale pink, the pecha berries also tasting rather sweet. All in all, it was definitely something that would be eaten for dessert. The Oshawott was reading a book that spoke of fire and dragon type moves, having become rather interested in said moves after teaching a red Gyarados how to use Outrage. She did this to pass the time as she awaited her next client; a Torchic by the name of Sorren.

Violet watched the Torchic as he focused. She would have liked to do a bit of meditation herself whilst she waited for Sorren to unlock that initial gateway to using his natural pyrokinetic abilities, but with fire being such a volatile and dangerous element, she had instead opted to keep a close eye on the Torchic's progress. As such, when he sneezed a small burst of fire, she was immediately there in a flash of movement, using her water gun to put out the flames before they could do much more than singe a few leaves. Checking that the rest of the bush was fine she pulled off a few nearly completely burned leaves, avoiding the thorns on the bush, before turning back to Sorren.
"Well that was quicker than I thought," she commented.

Sorren kept screaming for a good ten seconds before calming down. He shook violently, and the only equivalent way to describe his expression was a mix between a child breaking a toy and an inmate on death row.

"Sorrysorrysorrysorry!" Sorren exclaimed. He was going to apologize further when he sneazed again.

*AH-CHOO-FWOOSH*

And another flaming snot projectile...

Amidst all the chaos in his mind, a single thought passed through sorren's mind with perfect clarity. He was allergic to something in the garden.

"It's fine, it's fine!" she replied, "Don't worry abou-" she was cut off abruptly as the second sneeze shot another flaming projectile from the Torchic's nostrils. This time however, the Oshawott hit it with a short burst of water from her Water Gun before it could touch any of the plants in the garden
"Don't worry about it," she smiled, finally managing to finish her sentence, "I can always regrow plants, but I think we should get you back inside before you have a more negative reaction to whatever you seem to be allergic to."

The torchic nodded, sneezed again, and did his best to make it inside. Once inside he was not producing any more fire, but he was still very upset. He couldn't control the flames, and if violet wasn't there, he could have burned down a forest.

"I'm sorry. I couldn't control the fire. I could have really hurt someone if this had happened somewhere else." Sorren said, slumped up against the wall.

"If you were battling out in the field, it is likely you would have learned your first fire type move more naturally and wouldn't have undergone such a reaction to your sneezing," replied Violet, fully aware of the flaws of trying to bring forth such innate skills through training and meditation, "It is the reason why meditation is required, so that you can learn to experience and harness that flame 'early.' Of course a natural method is more unpredictable, being unsure when exactly your fire abilities will arise."

Sitting down on the sandy floor, Violet beckoned Sorren to sit down opposite her.
"It's not as tranquil an environment here, but try to do the same thing as before and concentrate on your inner flame. Don't worry about accidentally sneezing or burning something, because that's what I'm here for; to help you."

"Wait, I think i might have it." Sorren said.

Concentrating on control, he puffed out a little bit of smoke. Taking a deep breath, he was able to breath out a single ember. Getting confident, he puffed up his chest and sent a wave of fiery projectiles at the floor.

"Yep, I think i've got it. Reminds me of when i learned focus energy. first couple of times it didn't work, then i got it. I wonder if the sneezing was just a fluke? huh. I'm not feeling so worried anymore." Sorren said, playing around with his fire.

Violet smiled brightly at the Torchic's progress, the sudden harnessing of the fire into a full fledged Ember saving her some meditation time.
"Alrighty then, would you like to test out your new Ember move in another 'friendly' battle?" she asked, feeling that it would be a quicker route for him to get used to using the move in different situations.

(scuse the really crappy post I didn't really have much else to say |D)

{{:O You broke the rules! two sentences, not the required three. P.S., just so you know sorren's blaze doesn't work, in case you want Violet to pick up on that. like the battle they had earlier it didn't activate.}}

"Right, let's see what this flame can do!" Sorren said, burning with energy.

Confidence restored, sorren planted both his feet firmly on the ground, and used focus energy. after a sizable amount of time he let loose a wave of fiery projectiles Towards the Oshawott. He knew that his new elemental power was not very effective against the Water-type, but it was better then battling Chandelures.

The Oshawott took a similar position opposite Sorren, but did not focus her energy. Instead she watched the Torchic as he focussed himself, readying her reflexes to counter his inevitable attack. When Sorren did finally unleash his new Ember move upon Violet, she was more than ready. Quicker thana Yanma with the Speed Boost ability, she used Copycat before using her Water Gun move to propel herself upwards, skilfully dodging the Ember. From the air, she used the Ember move copied from Sorren, her scalchop glowing as she used it as the medium from which to release the flames.

Sorren released another ember, cutting off the one that Violet had used on him, charging he brought his leg back for a long spinning kick using scratch. Flames were puffed out his beak with each breath.
He was able to stop the flame with a bit of control, but every now and then some fire got loose, just needs some more practice.

Violet landed neatly on the ground after Sorren countered her Ember with his own. Wary of his spinning scratch-kick, she used Water Gun again, favouring this manoeuvre to propel herself up and over the Torchic, to land behind him. Sorren didn't yet seem to have complete control over the flames he emitted from his beak and so Violet would occasionally send out short bursts of water to counter them and prevent the flames from getting too out of control.

Sorren decided to try something a little different. Focusing his energy, he started to twirl. Keeping his off leg close to his body and used ember. The result was 360 Degrees of Focus energy powered ember.

"I think i'm gonna call that one critical tornado." Sorren said.

Violet backed up a few steps as Sorren surrounded himself with the fire, it's power enhanced by the Torchic's use of Focus Energy. Though the attack was definitely powerful due to the focus that Sorren had attained beforehand, the technique was very close quartered and Violet could easily avoid it by hopping back a few paces.
"Nice technique," smiled the Oshawott, "It would definitely be effective in a more enclosed area."

"eh, now that i think of it, I'm gonna call it firestorm. tornado doesn't fit a fire move." Sorren said.

Sorren Spit an ember and was directly behind it with a scratch powered kick. He needed Violet to move so he could get a better angle on her. As his father always said, never take an enemy head on with all your might, focus and find their weakness. A battle isn't a sprint, it's a marathon.

Violet shrugged at the Torchic's comment on his own name for the technique he had devised with a small smile to herself.
"It's up to you I suppose. It's your creation after all," she replied hopping backwards once more with the aid of a small burst of water. She then turned the Water Gun back upon Sorren, attempting to drench the Torchic's flames to see if he would still be able to summon the power for an Ember when wet.
