Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Hiding from the Storm   Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 EmptySat Mar 16, 2013 8:01 am

First topic message reminder :

To be truthful, Peter thought that he would never come here. But, here he was. Standing just outside the mouth of Serene Cave.

The Chimchar stared into the depth of the dark cave as it sent waves of chills down his spine. No one said that the cave was dark! After feuds with his father, Peter finally decided that today was the day.

Or was it?

He suddenly started to doubt this choice. What if it was the wrong one? What if he was lost in the cave for days!? There was stories of Pokemon who was lost there for days!

Peter gulped as he turned around to a path that headed back to Rainfront Town. He should head back, his father would be worried sick. Then again, since when did he ever worry? No, he should just take the long way around. It may take four days, but it would be better than getting lost in the dark with who knows what.

Then, Peter realized that there was a huge shadow looming over him.

As he looked up, he saw a huge grey blur in the sky, no doubt a storm. Great Arceus.

Peter groaned out loudly as he faced the cave again as he slowly began to walk into the mouth. His tail shone against the dark moist walls as he ventured deeper, and his steps became slower. He could hear the wind picking up and flying into the cave's mouth, making a loud sound.

That only made the Chimchar even more scared.

PostSubject: Re: Hiding from the Storm   Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 EmptyMon Mar 25, 2013 3:17 pm

A pitfall trap, lovely. Peter took a deep sigh and pushed himself up and onto his shaking legs. When he got up, the CHimchar couldn't help but looked over to one of the tunnels. The darkness covering up whatever could be behind it sent shivers down Peter's spine. Whatever was there could be just as bad. But, Peter thought to himself as he attempted to look at the good side. Perhaps the worse is over.

Peter slowly walked over to the Scraggy and winced at the sight of a black stone in Mordred's hands. Was he interested in rocks? Perhaps. Or maybe it seemed black because of the darkness. He didn't bother to ask, though. It's just a rock.

Tearing Peter's slight interest in the rock, he placed his train of thought on the tunnels. Some of them might lead to outside... Or would they loop? There was many possibilities, too. From waking up an angry Dugtrio to a galore of paths and more tunnels. Just how huge was this place?

"I.... I guess we should go." Peter replied with hesitation. "I don't want to risk getting attacked."

PostSubject: Re: Hiding from the Storm   Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 EmptyTue Mar 26, 2013 1:15 am

[Bleh, sorry, having a bit of writer's block. xD]

Mordred was glad that the Chimchar still had the energy to move on. But there was still the issue of which tunnel to choose. One wrong move at this point could cost them days, or maybe even their limbs. The Scraggy shuddered at the thought, knowing that their luck probably wouldn't pull them through if they encountered another enraged Graveler. He wished there would be a way for them to find the right tunnel.

It seems his prayers were answered, but not in a way he expected. He could hear it, 3 pokemon heading towards the from 3 different tunnels. It seemed like they were spotted after all, and whatever punishment those attackers had in mind probably included their loud cries. And if it was one thing the Scraggy was sure of; those cries were not out of fear or pain. Pure anger. And the explorer really didn't want to wait for such punishment.

He ran over to the only safe tunnel, giving a single wince due to the exertion then hurriedly signaling his companion to come follow him. "Peter, we gotta go, NOW!" He said, panic in his voice. No, in this condition, they couldn't handle 3 pokemon at once. They had to run, hopefully lose them in these tunnels.

Peter winced in plain confusion when Mordred dashed into one of the tunnels. But as Peter glanced over to one of the tunnels, he saw a figure running to him, fast. The Chimchar didn't hesitate to run after Mordred when he shouted out for the fire Pokemon. The last thing Peter wanted was to run for his life, again.

Peter managed to catch up with Mordred, though. Perhaps from the extra little bit of rest did help out. Was this plan the best? Sure, running away would be the best idea for a situation where you'd need to think fast, but how long could they keep running for? Even if they did lose the feral Pokemon, the light from Peter's tail would attract them. Yet, they weren't in any condition for another fight.

The surroundings became a blur as Peter ran through the Tunnel. The only thing that wasn't so blurry Peter was Mordred and the Pokemon behind them, yet Peter didn't pay much attention to what kind of Pokemon they were. There was a definite three, though. No Gravelers, luckily. Which was good, too.

Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hiding from the Storm   Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 EmptyTue Apr 09, 2013 8:37 am

Mordred took a quick glance behind him and his companion, getting a clearer image of their new pursuers. There was an Aron, followed by a Charmander, followed by a Zubat. It was an unusual combination, but the scraggy could only guess that they had already been a team before judging by how they matched each other's movements so flawlessly. Whenever there was a hard obstacle on their path, the Aron would simply break it. It didn't have to worry about any predators thanks to its intimidating display and its companion's flame. The Zubat seemed to keep track of the scraggy and the chimchar, guiding its allies on the ground.

Seeing their cooperation made the explorer nervous. He never had to deal with these kinds of opponents before. Most of his past battles against wild pokemon were made easy thanks to their lack of cooperation and planning, but this trio seemed to know what they were doing, almost as if they had already done this before. Mordred felt lucky enough that he and Peter had an advantage in speed, but they wouldn't be able to run for long. He doubted they would actually be able to lose them in the darkness, seeing how the Zubat would probably detect them and the Charmander could create light. Should they burrow? No, that would be ridiculous and time consuming, not to mention it would cause too much noise.

It was then the scraggy's ears began to ring. He brought his hands up to his ears, trying to block out the horrid screeching noise. It was high-pitched, and was followed by a surge of stinging energy that made his head whirl. It was definitely the Zubat using some sort of attack, possibly Supersonic. Mordred shook his head, trying to block out the noise as best as he could. They couldn't risk having their minds boggled, not with how they were being hunted. It was easier said than done though, as the screeching easily bounced off the walls of the tunnels.

PostSubject: Re: Hiding from the Storm   Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 EmptySun Apr 14, 2013 7:49 pm

Peter began to stumble a bit, which made him anxious. Was it possible to get away? Soon enough, he too heard the horrifying screech that was made. The Chimchar squinted in pain as he clasped his hands over his ears to try and block it off, yet it still rung in his head. What was this? Supersonic? Panic began to rise over him again as his breathing grew heavier and heavier. The darkness, the sheer cold. How could this get any worse?

The only thing Peter could do was to follow Mordred. It was the only thing he could do. Other than lying on the ground and let the Feral Pokemon win, of course. Peter was no expert in situations like this! He wasn't even an official Explorer yet!

His feet began to feel worn and blistered. With all the running, was this the average life of a Explorer? Peter began to curse himself for ever believing that he had the potent of an Explore
r. (I think Potent is spelled like that. It is, isn't it? =/)

Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hiding from the Storm   Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 EmptyTue Apr 16, 2013 7:21 am

[It's okay! ]

Mordred continued to run through the caves, hands still covering his ears as he tried to navigate him and his companion through the dark area. The holes and cracks on the ceiling and walls started lessening, causing the light being emitted from the fire pokemon to become painstakingly visible. It made the trio of attackers hasten their pace, no longer having to worry about losing their prey as they entered the more deeper areas of the cavern. Pokemon became scarce as the remaining natives of the caves hid, seeing as the chase was beginning to make more ruckus than needed.

The scraggy gasped, stopping just in time as a large burrow hole came to view in front of them. It was HUGE! Bigger than any burrow hole the dark pokemon had ever seen. Only a herd of Dugtrio or Drilbur could've made such a large, gaping pit. He wiped some sweat off his forehead in relief, standing on the edge of the hazard. His ease vanished as he soon found himself being forced down the hole as a loud roar erupted from behind him. The Aron had used Roar, sending forth a loud wave towards the two, causing the scraggy to slip from the edge of the pit and fall.

Mordred's scream echo'd through the dark hole as he descended into the shadows. Even with his ability to see in the pitch-black, he was unable to spot the ground as he fell down. He could feel the wind rushing past him, panic rising like a bullet as he dreaded what awaited him. He sincerely doubted he'd be able to survive such a fa- THUMP! He went, landing face-first onto the hard, stone floor. He groaned, unable to decide whether or not he should be glad he was still conscious, or to scream at how painful his face felt. He spat out a tooth, grimacing as he felt blood dribble down from his forehead and his mouth. It was surprising how his skull hadn't cracked open right then and there, but the fact scraggy were born with unusually tough heads made it all the more possible. His eyes widened, frantically looking around as he hoped Peter didn't fall in with him.

Peter wanted to close his eyes, stop and cry, yet he knew if he did that, he would be history. Mordred knew what he was doing, Peter told himself. Just follow him and you'll be okay. He never really ran so much in his entire life. Back at his Hometown, he never had much freedom since there was so much water everywhere. He was always scared if he would fall into one of the ponds.

Peter didn't realized that Mordred stopped until the last second, which was pretty lucky because the Monkey also stopped in that last second. He looked back to see if the three pursuers were still there. His eyes didn't notice anything, only a huge black smudge. Yet even though Peter waited for the scene to settle, the roar startled Peter.

"W-W-What ar-are we going to do!?" Peter stuttered as he looked over to Mordred... To find that he was no longer there. He began to panic at the realization as his eyes darted around. "Mordred!?" Unfortunately, Peter didn't realize the fact that Mordred fell down the pit, or even the fact that there was a pit. His legs felt frozen and his was paralyzed in fear. What should he do? Where did Mordred go? Did he just simply vanished?

Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hiding from the Storm   Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 EmptySun Apr 21, 2013 2:45 am

Mordred grit his teeth, realizing that Peter was still on the surface. He was relieved that the chimchar didn't have to experience such a fall, but now he was in even bigger trouble as their pursuers were possibly drawing closer. He cracked his knuckles, preparing for the excruciating trip back up. He took a few steps backwards, before running up to the wall and taking the tallest jump he could muster. He grabbed the rocks, wincing as his movements opened a few of his wounds. A few small drops of crimson trickled down his sides, tainting the clumps of shed skin that he wore to protect himself. Enduring the pain, the scraggy began making his climb, hoping that once he got out he wouldn't find his companion beaten... or worse.

Above, the trio of punishers began approaching the chimchar. They seemed to snicker, finding him on his own. The trembling monkey seemed all too easy, and pity was evident on their cruel faces, yet they couldn't stop. They had to to their job of oppressing unwanted trespassers, no matter how pathetic they seemed. The Zubat was the first to act, flying up and using a Supersonic. Its deafening cries shot towards the helpless fire pokemon in a wave, threatening to interfere with his mind. The Aron's armor seemed to shine as it used Harden, increasing its defense as it began to rush towards the chimchar. The Charmander was right beside the Aron, its claws outstretched for a Scratch attack. They all gave off a loud screech, hoping to intimidate and demotivate their opponent.

From inside the pit, Mordred could hear the commotion occurring above. His grip tightened on the rocky wall as he sped up his climb. The wounds that covered him were forced open, aching on an excruciating level. His arms shook, on the verge of losing its grip as the pain continued to surge through him. He made a mental note to himself to take a few days off training, doubting that he'd be able to continue his training once he left the cave. He tried to ignore the sting of his wounds, prioritizing the safety of his ally as he slowly ascended up the wall of the deep pit.

Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hiding from the Storm   Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 EmptyMon Apr 22, 2013 1:07 pm

Peter looked back as soon as he head the screech from the Zubat. The SuperSonic made him want to curl up into a ball and cry, but he knew very well that wasn't going to be the best idea. He curled his fingers into a fist while shaking with horror. He backed up as the group of Pokemon began to charge forwards with a horrible war-cry. It made Peter reconsider the idea of crying in the corner, too. How could he fight them all off? It would simply be impossible!

Suddenly after he took another step backwards, his left bruised leg dangled on the edge. A pit? Quickly, Peter yanked forwards before he could have the chance to fall into the abyss. Clearly there was no place left to run and Mordred must had fallen into the pit. Glancing back, it seemed as if it went a long way down. Was he dead? The Chimchar discarded that thought. He can't be! Peter gulped as his mind raced for solutions but instead his mind went back to the Graveler which Mordred and Peter defeated with a miracle.

A Miracle was the same thing Peter would need at that moment. Yet, the speed that the trio were coming scared Peter. Yet, if they were perhaps stupid enough and wouldn't slow down, perhaps Peter could take them down with him. Yes, Peter winced. Placing the plan into motion, Peter quickly got onto his aching knees and slipped over the edge, grasping onto the edge. For once, Peter didn't regret the fact that he was a monkey.

Then Peter remembered the Zubat, then regretted his decision.

Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hiding from the Storm   Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 EmptyWed Apr 24, 2013 11:04 am

Mordred looked up, hearing something fall off the edge. Squinting his eyes in the darkness, he was able to make out a small figure gripping the top of the pit. No, wait, that wasn't just any figure. From the flames on its back, it was obvious it was Peter! Panic rose as he realized the Chimchar must've dropped in, probably to evade their attackers. But no, this plan was horribly flawed, he would definitely fall in! He growled, mustering up the energy as he quickened his climb. He had to reach the top, or at least be close enough that he would be able to catch his ally before he was sent to his doom. There was no way the monkey would be able to survive such a fall.

The Aron and Charmander didn't seem to have paid close attention as they chased the Chimchar off the edge. As their feet found air, their eyes widened in realization. The duo were sent screaming down into the darkness, far below as they desperately attempted to grab hold of the rocks on the walls. Sad to say, they'd realize the opportunity far too late, and the speed of their fall only brought them pain as they attempted to grab at the sharp rocks. They fell down to the bottom, hopefully not to be seen for a while. The Scraggy watched them descend, disbelief in his eyes as he reasoned to himself that they hadn't brought Peter down with them. He looked up, relief washing over as he saw the flames still above. He continued his climb.

The Zubat, on the other hand, screeched with fury as it was unable to save its friends. It shot down, aiming for the Chimchar. It used Supersonic, its terrifying voice filling the pit as it attacked the monkey in an act of revenge. It used Leech Life, using its fangs to try and clamp down onto the monkey's head in order to suck out its life. It was planning on sending the fire pokemon down into the abyss, not giving a care if it would get hurt or not.

Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hiding from the Storm   Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 EmptySat Apr 27, 2013 6:22 am

It worked? Peter glanced over his shoulders and watched the two blurry Pokemon vanished down the pit. At least he managed to get rid of them. Yet, Peter couldn't get rid of the guilt that lingered around his chest. Peter let out a painful groan as he began to pull himself up, yet he couldn't manage to even lift himself up by a centimeter. The Chimchar's legs began to flail around, searching for a jagged rock to perhaps stand on. His hand felt sweaty and sticky as they clenched onto the edge tightly.

Then, that Zubat had to let out the dreadful sound. Peter froze as soon as the Zubat screeched. His image began to go fuzzy as he tried to block the echoing noise with his elbows, but failed badly. He could no longer see his own arms, either. Peter screamed when he felt the piercing pain of two fangs dug into his head. His arms suddenly felt like jelly from the impact as his left arm slipped from the edge. Peter felt the heat of the panic rise in him as he began to try to grab the edge as his other arm felt like ripping off. The monkey kept on trying to shake his head to get rid of the Zubat, although it wouldn't work.

Soon enough, his arm gave. Peter didn't realize it at first, until he felt the wind pushing under him. Peter began to flail around, trying to find a grip on the wall. His hand found a small jagged rock, pointing out awkwardly. Peter clasped onto it with both his aching arms as he tried to find at least a dent to place his foot in. The Chimchar looked up, but it was useless as he couldn't see a bloody thing. Finally, his foot brushed against a small dent. It wasn't the best, but Peter placed his toes into there. Peter began to shake violently with fear and torment.

Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hiding from the Storm   Hiding from the Storm - Page 3 EmptyMon May 13, 2013 9:14 am

[Sorry for taking so long ; ^ ;]

The Zubat screeched again, refusing to back down as it continued attempting to exact its revenge against Peter. It was going to bring him off the wall, whatever it took! It attempted another Supersonic, sending forth more earsplitting cries, causing a few small rocks to fall off the walls. With such a blaring sound, it almost seemed like the hole was shaking. Once it wore out its voice, it flew a small distance away from the terrified Chimchar. It began to flap its wings violently in preparation. With one more battle cry, it shot towards the fire pokemon, fangs bared for a Bite attack. It planned to sink its fangs as deep as it could, and try to pull the chimchar off the wall. To its surprise, and to Peter's fortune, its fangs instead collided with a small rock. It gave a cry, being hit with the stone.

Mordred smirked, not too far below Peter. He thanked Arceus almighty that he was able to catch one of the falling stones and save his ally from a potentially dangerous attack. One hand already held another rock, while the other gripped the wall tightly. The scraggy threw the rock again, but it was dodged by the Zubat. The Zubat gave a cry of irritation, not having enjoyed the fighting pokemon's gesture. The scraggy's smirk curled into a frown, realizing what he had just done. He just barely kept his grip on the wall as the bat began attacking him, sending more puncture injuries on his already-battered body. Okay, maybe that wasn't such a good idea.

He glared at the Zubat, now barely on his toes as he desperately clung on the wall. He was beginning to feel exhausted, probably from his many wounds and from how the annoying bat kept leeching his health. His hand grabbed at the rocks, trying to find something. After a few minutes of enduring, he finally had enough sand (or dust) to throw at the attacker, causing the Zubat to screech as sand was accumulated in its gaping mouth.

Peter didn't even know anymore. The world was spinning, his head hurts and so did his hands. Was he up right, or upside down? He clenched the wall in pain and tightly, hoping for the Zubat to just go away. His hearings came back at last as he was soon able to tell illusions from reality. He glanced over to spot the Zubat just behind him screeching, teeth bared. Peter's eyes widen in fear as it charged over and.... Ate a rock? Peter could not believe his own fortune as he stared in disbelief at the Zubat. Then, a small brown blur flashed right in front of Peter's face. The Chimchar looked below and there he was, as a blurry orange-yellowish figure. He was still alive, Mordred was still alive!

But then Peter only realized what was happening to Mordred as he noticed that something dark blue was right on top of Mordred. OF course, the Zubat! Mordred was the one who threw the rocks, it was expected! The only thing Peter came up in his mind was to go up and wait, but then he would wait forever. No, Mordred could not hold out with all this. Peter swallowed his building saliva as he forced himself to climb down steadily.

Peter cringed tightly against the rocks as soon as he was just beside Mordred. His breath became short and his arms ached dearly. Yet, sparks of flickering electricity soon began to shower lightly from his hand as he tried to reach out to the Zubat. Just a touch was all Peter need. His other hand gripped against the wall with the knuckles turning white slowly. Climbing a cave wall was definitely not like climbing a tree.

Mordred gripped the wall, trying to ignore his pain as the Zubat continued hitting him with its attacks. Its life-sucking fangs had luckily gotten less hits thanks to the sand-attack, but the scraggy's exhaustion was putting him on a dangerous risk of falling. He had to think of something, quick. He looked around, seeing nothing more than a worthless stone walls of the godforsaken pit they were thrown in. He then turned his attention to Peter, hoping to see that the fire pokemon had climbed out to safety.

It seemed the Chimchar had a better idea.

Small sparks of light seemed to be emitting from the monkey's hand. The reptile's eyes widened in realization. He looked over to the Zubat, which had flown back in order to prepare for another attack. 'Just one chance...' He thought, gripping the rocks tightly as he moved to switch himself. With his back now facing the wall, he got ready.

The Zubat gave a screech before lunging at the scraggy, baring its sharp fangs in preparation for another attack. 'Now!' Putting his all in this one attack, Mordred swung his foot forward. Luck was on his side this time, as he watched the Zubat get thrown up in the air by the sudden kick, seeming to have been hit somewhere on its chin. The scraggy prayed that the bat would collide with Peter's hand, watching in anticipation as the scene unfold before him.

Peter cringed as his arm ached badly from the strain. He automatically closed his eyes as tears slid out one by one. Yet, his arms were blindly going numb in the meantime. But Peter wasn't blind enough to not see what Mordred pulled off. At first, Peter was in shock if Mordred was going to fall as he swung his foot at the Zubat, Peter was almost foolish enough to try and grab him with his available hand... The one with sparks that was coming out. But a sense of hope flourished over Peter to see that Mordred managed to turn himself around so his back was against the wall and managed to kick the Zubat upwards towards Peter!

Peter took a deep breath in before he waved his hand frantically to try and grab the Zubat. The sparks that danced around his hands helped his sight, though. Soon enough, he felt something brush against his palm. A moment of shock overwhelmed Peter as he clamped his hand tightly on the Zubat's ear. With that, he held on as he pulled himself to the wall to prevent the chance of falling into the abyss.

Although Thunder Punch was a useful move, it never really lasted forever. It was like having to run for miles, there had to be breaks. The sparks soon died out at the same time. Fearing if the Zubat would attack by then, Peter loosen his grip and released the Zubat. There, Peter clung to the wall, shaking.
