Current Topic: How to reward IO members

Perhaps you could have a blanket reward rate in case teachers don't wanna come up with their own but then when teachers apply for teaching a new major they can outline any additional ways they'd like to reward their students?

So like for example if u were to do a math class or something you could potentially set out actual problems and let the characters answer them and if they're correct maybe award something. (Although that's kinda a really boring example oTL)

Uhhhm.
Maybe something more like, if you were gonna do a cooking class you could reward people if they came up with a cool idea for a dish rather than just the blanket? That's a little more entertaining than math /shot

My idea right now for rewarding IO members is a reward for each thread above a page limit completed.


I would like feedback on:
-What should the official page benchmark be? I've been saying 3 but is that enough?
-What should the reward be? Should it be money, or should it be an item perinate to the class topic? (i.e. strange tickets for tactics/battle class, sitrus berries for healing tech class)
-Should there be bonus incentives for achievements like 5 classes/club meetings completed, 10 classes/meetings completed, field trip completed, ect?
-Should the aforementioned bonuses be limited to set benchmarks, or could things like field trips be negotiated?
-How should field trips/club activities be held accountable? Encounter requirements?(encounter 5 bug pokemon in rolls, find 5 oran berries in rolls, ect.)

y'all should have field trips to mystery dungeons and shit. Could award poke based on performance or if it's more of an educational field trip put an academic spin on it? Like a tour of pecha forest or give rewards based on how well they do in the dungeon in terms of preparedness/equipment/combat performance. If you have any students that want to go into the guild later on, you could even do little mock-mission tests for them and give them little rewards upon completion? I dunno.

Or you could say fuck the idea of giving money to students altogether and turn the money into something else. Like stars or some kind of classroom currency, and you make a little menu of goodies they can use classroom currency to buy. Shit like berries, items, maybe a few rarer items so you can incentivise people to join and participate. Use the budget to buy your rewards from stores and put 'em up for grabs, yeah?

@Des Ah, I like that idea. So maybe a teacher would get a fixed amount for hosting the "class" (thread)and the students would get their reward for a class by fulfilling the teacher's "curriculum" (goal) for a thread.


I think teachers would have to get their "curriculums" okayed by the "headmaster" (me or whoever owns the IO).


Curriculum ideas could be as simple as a page limit, or as complex as a roll requirement like the ones for the current even. I like the idea of roll requirements specifically because it gives a use for items like House Orbs that exists outside of events.

@Sun Yeah I'm kind of thinking that way too on field trips, but I want some kind of tangible requirements to hold the teachers/students/club members accountable to. If you have any suggestions outside the ones that have been suggested hmu my dude

Yee having the curriculum approved beforehand sounds like a good idea. I think it might be wise to do a couple test threads or something before you decide on a fixed blanket though since 3 pages might be harder to reach for certain things than others. Like an exploration thread to a dungeon might be easier to make longer than a classroom based class or something if that were to become a concern.

As for what the specific rewards should be, perhaps that could be outlined in individual curriculums as well? I like the idea of things like strange tickets for combat and shizz but money is also a good fall back if there’s nothing appropriately specific to the major being taught.

I think the bonus incentives might be a good way to give out more ‘standardised’ rewards if you were to adopt different class rewards for each curriculum. So that might be something to think about. I think additional bonuses being added on as more people come up with different ideas is a good thing to keep open cause u never know what someone might think of but perhaps to start with you could keep it to just class completion ones and then expand later as the IO grows? Just so there isn’t too much to deal with upon initial launch.

And my idea for field trips and clubs is a little long winded but maybe get each one approved by the IO leader so that rewards can again be dealt with on a case by case basis. Since something like rolling encounters wouldn’t be as applicable to a class on gathering ingredients as it would be for a field trip for a battle class etc. Whereas something like the oran berries would. There’s also the problems of running out of energy before you roll what you need. Would the field trip then result in no rewards for the characters?

Overall I think there’s gonna be a lot of differences based on the type of major that should probably be taken into account as well where possible. Although that does make a lot of stuff harder to streamline. Sorry |D

TLDR:
We've decided on a merit point program to mediate the struggles of allotting the budget. Completing courses will earn students (teachers, club members) merit points that they can exchange for items or money pertaining to their major, up to the equivalent of 1000 poke a month.

Headmasters will decide on the merit point worth of the teacher's curriculums and club member's agendas, and they will alot merit points to the teachers and to the clubs. Teachers will reward the students, and club leaders will be responsible for assuring that their members have met the agenda's specifications.
