Shadowhue Forest: dark, dense, teeming with life hidden away in treetops and undergrowth. It was wilder than Pecha Forest, and many folk avoided the place if they didn't have good reason to enter. Explorers often had reason to enter. Why had Maxie come here? She was not an explorer—although she had intentions on being one. So why come here and not go directly to the Grassveil Guild to sign up? She had a few reasons. The first was that she wanted to get a sense for what she would be in for. If she couldn't handle what was right next door to the guild alone, what chance did she have in trying to climb the Guild's ranks? Another reason was to find things. Anything really. It was ideal to know what resources were avalible to you in close proximity to home base.
A third reason existed but it wasn't necessarily tied to the location; in fact, the likelihood the mawile would find the tertiary thing on her list was pretty low in this place. That tertiary thing being a friend. She had come from the desert in the east alone. She had plans on join the guild, and while there was technically no rules saying she couldn't form a team of one—herself—she didn't particularly want to be alone. Maxie's jaw-like horns drifted into her view, seeming in response to the idea of being alone. "Okay, I'm not entirely alone. But you don't really count for much in conversation, Gilbert." Maxie said to her own horns. They snapped to their original position behind her head. "Hey, don't get all pouty. You're still the MVP in combat." The steel jaws gnashed the air as if demonstrating their ability.
"Now let's find us something."

| Maxie agreed that it would be best to leave. She disagreed that the two of them could take the exeggutor alone. She agreed that a shedinja would make things even more difficult. She was curious how exactly a fire in this forest would be helpful in any way—she'd have to ask Arlo what exactly he did later. "Be careful!" She called out as she continued to move away from the exeggutor and the recently arrived shedinja.
Wel, all in all, I think this whole excursion went pretty well. I got a free scarf, a couple of weird boxes, some TM, some berries and seeds—granted I used a few already. And I got these spikes. Shame they're useless here. She stopped once she was out of sight of the combat area and waited for Arlo to reach her before continuing. Most importantly, I found a friend and future exploration partner. I'd say a pretty good first adventure here in the west.

| (Energy 12-10[Rolls]+1[New page]=3)
Flying a couple more circles around the Exeggutor as he watched Maxie scamper off, Arlo turned his attention to the Shedinja. Round two, let's see how you like me when I'm when I'm not stuck in a hole. While still plenty high in the air Arlo dove to the ground a few feet to gather some speed and nimbly dodged multiple attempts to drain his energy with some Absorb attacks. He'd been hit by far too many while he was in the hole and was having trouble staying focused as is.
Using a couple quick manoeuvres Arlo fully drew the Shedinja's attention with a Quick Attack to its face. Ineffective in all ways except to annoy it; which was exactly Arlo's plan. The Shedinja wouldn't stop following Arlo, it had made that much apparent, so he needed to divert its attention elsewhere. Leading the Shedinja forward through the area, nimbly dodging all its attacks the entire time Arlo's plan worked out as he banked at the perfect moment, causing the Shedinja to miss him with the Absorb attack and hit the Exeggutor just as its paralysis was wearing off.
Arlo didn't stick around to watch, he immediately swooped in the direction Maxie went, only hearing the ineffective attacks the Exeggutor ineffectively unleashed on its new foe. There is no way that stupid tree is going to beat that thing, but by the time they're done with each other, we'll be long gone.
Quietly gliding through the air, and weaving through the thick tree lines it took Arlo a while to find Maxie. He landed just in front of her elegant as can be, striking a little pose as he landed. "Guess who dealt with the Exeggutor, and got out of a hole in record time, and tricked the Exeggutor to deal with the Shedinja for us long enough for us to skedaddle. Spoiler, it's me." He lifted up one of his hands for a crisp high five once he was done talking, a mark of smugness apparent in his voice. Though he was wobbling in place a bit from all the energy he had drained from him.

| "I was going to guess you," Maxie said, suppressing a giggle while returning his high five. "I'm not sure on the record time for getting out of holes, so I'll have to take your word for it." The little sky squirrel was amusing, to say the least. He had several excellent characteristics, in fact: confident, brave, energetic, humorous. All in all, he'd make an excellent partner. "So now we make our escape out of the dungeon, and off toward the Grassveil Guild, I suppose. I think you and I will make an excellent team."
After a short pause, Maxie reached into her bag and withdrew one of the unusual boxes she had found in the forest. "Here, a gift from me to you. There's a place at the Guild where people go to get these open. I think it'd be a neat ceremonial thing, after joining the guild, to open these together." She handed the Unusual Box to Arlo. She then reached into her bag again and withdrew the scarf she had found. and wrapped the yellow garment around her neck.

| Beaming with Maxie's words and praise, Arlo was feeling pretty good. He was just about to return how well she did when she handed him one of the unusual boxes and handed it to him. Stunned for a moment Arlo just looked at it for a few seconds, before starting to bounce in place in excitement and go in for a hug. "Thank you, this is so nice of you. I've never been given something like this."
Storing the box in his bag he started leading them back to the guild, excitedly bouncing all the way. "And you know we're gonna be a great team. Adventure had better watch out, we're coming for it!"
