UGH! Where even was she?

It seems as if she had wandered around here for hours! Why did she even think that leaving the path was such a good idea?

In the darkness of the cave, a small blue penguin carried a torch as she wandered through the darkness. If she were to have cheeks, they surely would have been puffed out as she trudged through the damp maze that had been set before her. She had been so convinced that the darkness was a shortcut to Grassveil, but no! Instead, she had simply wandered in circles for heavens know how long.

How did she know she had been wandering in circles? She did not. She simply assumed.

Namataki stared into the dull and dreary darkness ahead of her, her flippers slapped against the cold harsh ground with each step. Her eye lids drooped as she marched onward. She had entered the caves in an attempt to get to Grassviel. She had heard a tale of a snivy that traveled through the cave to Grassviel after having boasted about the assistance of a deino.

In a faint light of hope that this snivy just might have been a friend, she had decided to track the snivy down. She highly doubted it was her, in fact she semi-hoped it was not, but it was worth a shot. If she could prove to herself that Jaden had lived, then perhaps Garnet had? The piplup seemed to smile at the thought, goofily to herself in the dark.

The smile faded though. She really should not get her hopes up. Garnet was likely long dead and buried. There was no point in looking, why had she even bothered in the first place? If Jade was alive then whoopie, but still. Garnet had cared for her, been her friend the longest. The piplup shook her head viciously before she gave her chest a pound with her free flipper. No! She couldn't dwell on that right now!

"I have to make sure I get out of here and live on! For their sake!"
she declared to herself. ..Alone...In the light of a single torch...with no idea where she was.

The more she thought about her current situation, the more irritated she became. A lip began to curl as she trudged onward, each step became more difficult than the last. Where were the rescue teams? Weren't they somewhere around here for some reason? She could not quite remember why, but she remembered there was something important around here...

TREASURE! It had to be a treasure! Why else would exploration teams get excited and swarm an area? A thought rolled into her mind...what if...she...found the treasure. Her sneer quickly changed to a smirk as she rode her own rollercoaster of emotions in a matter of minutes. It seemed she had decided to end the ride on a high note as she greedily snickered to herself.

She pointed the one fin that held the torch forward dramatically, the other fin on her hip, as she proudly proclaimed to the seemingly empty cave before her, "JUST YOU WAIT! I'M GONNA FIND YA!"

With newfound determination, she had decided that she would explore these caves for that new hidden "treasure".

It was silent. Her eyes were closed as she focused on hear ability to hear. Her paws placed in front of her with her haunches seated. Her eyes were closed lightly as all attention was briefly focused on the sounds around her. She could hear the occasional drip of water, but that was it. If there were any foes about, they either feared for their life in silence or awaited ambush upon the unexpecting. Her eyes opened.

She could see into the dank darkness perfectly. She blended in with the darkness perfectly. The only light provided to the unfortunates who lacked the splendid ability or a source of light were torches that aligned the walls. These torches guided the simple passerby out of the dangerous caverns, set up by the guild. They had to renew frequently, due to the ever-changing nature of the dungeons, but it was better than having to fish the unfortunate tourist out of the dank depths of Serene Cave.

She had stared down the direction of an unlit cavern, the path that led to where the strong one was rumored. She took in a long deep breath before she exhaled slowly as she mentally prepared herself for what she was about to do. She was here for one goal. She had failed the last time, but she would not leave this time without laying sight upon a scratch on that monster of a pokemon.

This time, she was alone. She had been alone last time, but this time she figured she would not run into yet another few pokemon she would have to babysit. She was wrong, but she did not know that at the time. She paused to take the sight of the dark cave in before she left the cavern of light. She might not return. She might die today. Was that a risk she was willing to take?

Yes.

She moved forward.

The zoroark's figure left the shelter of the light and stalked into the darkness. It reminded her of her old home, almost. The woods of Shadowhue were just as dark, the depths of the dungeon had served as a great spot to hide from the explorers that wished to pare her hide for a new throw rug as a trophy. Here? It had been much too unsettling for her to relax in. The damp caverns were dangerous, the potential of being crushed in her sleep were far greater than a tree to fall upon her in the forest.

She took each step with care as her senses were on full alert. She remained silent as the night in an attempt to avoid detection of any hostile pokemon. If she wanted to find the dangerous pokemon that inhabited these caverns, she wanted to have the advantage of an ambush.

With any luck, she could leave this place alive. She just hoped she did not come across any explorers that recognized her appearance through the battle scars and lack of her signature earrings she had stolen ever so long ago. It was not all that much of a difference, but it was enough to make the passerby fail to cry out in fear of the infamous outlaw that had killed many.

If only she could outlive that title.

Her ears snapped forward. She could hear something ahead, but what was it? The dark type's eyes narrowed as she focused on the darkness in the distance. She lifted herself onto her two hind legs and sniffed the air only to be reminded of the lack of breeze in the tunnel. A low grumble of irritation rumbled from her throat, yet another reason why the woods were such a better place.

Alki didn't like the darkness, and she especially didn't like how eager the Piplup was to leave the Zoroark alone. But it was safe, and Alki certainly didn't want to be alone in a place like this. Between the Zoroark, that... other Pokemon, and now, running away with this Piplup, her need for safety outweighed her desire to help the Zoroark. After all, what could she do?

"D-Don't y-you... Don't you th-think we've run enough?" Alki gasped, stopping as she took deep, shuddering breaths. She could barely hear the fighting, and... she didn't want to hear the fighting. She closed her eyes as her breathing normalized, as the shuddering stopped and she could begin to speak clearer.

"H-How are we..." She began, but stopped as a sudden, bright light flashed behind the both of them. "W-What's that? She mumbled, looking behind her. Alki sat down, squinting. She'd been bouncing for a while now, and they were far away from the fight. But more importantly, what was this light? Where was it coming from?

Alki looked around, what was the source of the light? What was going on? Did it have something to do with the other Pokemon? Or was Alki going crazy? So many possibilities! Alki backed up, closer to Taki, closer to safety, but unable to tear her eyes off of the strange light.

The balloon had stopped, so had she. They had run quite a distance from the battle, but they could still see the effects as the light of the Hyper Beam had reached them. Namataki was still terrified, but she felt a bit safer now that they weren't anywhere near the monsters of Serene Cave, "No such thing as 'far enough' in my book," she commented with heavy breaths.

She looked back at the source of the light as the balloon had questioned what that was exactly. She was not sure herself, but she did not want to find out, "I don't know, but we should keep going. Keep going and just do NOT turn back. Right?" she looked to the igglybuff, the idea that they should keep running still fresh in her mind. There was no way she would feel safe until she was out of here and back at the town. What was it called again? Grasshail? She did not care, she just wanted to be there.

The image of the youtube had disappeared in a matter of seconds before it suddenly reappeared almost directly in front of her. The zoroark threw up her arms to defend herself, but it was not her head that the mewtwo had decided to attack. Her stomach had been struck. She was forced to bend over as pain erupted in her gut. She felt something tighten its grip on her arm and a sudden strength suddenly forced her from her feet and swung her over to the other side of the cavern. She slammed against the wall and collapsed once more.

She struggled to force herself to stand as she got back up onto two legs once more, claws outstretched with determination in her eyes. She would do this, she would make up for what she had done! Still, the psychic type seemed calm and collected. The monster raised its arms above it, each bulb on the end of its fingers nearly touching the other above its head. Slowly, the mewtwo brought the arms down, outstretched to the sides as small orange orbs that crackled with blue energy formed and expanded. This only stopped when a small arch had been made over the mewtwo's head.

The zoroark's eyes narrowed. The mewtwo was presenting its attacks to her before it had even struck as if daring her to try and dodge. She dropped down onto four legs as she prepared to dodge each and ever one of the orbs. The mewtwo suddenly flung its arms forward, each orb suddenly shooting towards her at a rapid speed. The zoroark jumped to the side, but the energy had shifted direction and began to follow her all over again.

She stuck near the wall as the orbs grew closer, she stopped suddenly as she glared at the oncoming orbs before she attempted to move at the last second. The orbs smashed into the wall, dust and dirt kicked up as the damage took its toll on the cavern wall. Hah! She had done it! She avoided the attack! A disbelieving grin crossed her expression as she looked towards the mewtwo once more, now believing that she had some sort of tactic. Unfortunately, the very same orbs of energy suddenly shot out from the dust and smashed into her while she had gotten a bit too cocky.

Mirage cried out in pain as she was attacked, but it was abruptly cut off by a much larger and fresher orb that had dealt a harsh blow to her chest. The zoroark was at the very least not given the mercy of watching the smug face of her opponent standing before her as she slipped into the darkness of her mind.

Terrible Ride [Mada] - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Terrible Ride [Mada]   Terrible Ride [Mada] - Page 2 EmptyFri Jun 16, 2017 10:43 pm

Alki looked away from the Piplup, back towards the way they’d come. The effects of battle were still there for Alki to see, hear, and feel. The lights of what the Igglybuff could only imagine was a move she wouldn’t even be able to understand, Alki could feel the floor and walls trembling ever so slightly, or maybe that was just her imagination. She’d been bouncing quite a bit… they were quite far, but she could still hear the effects of the battle, dull crashes that she imagined would be rather painful. Thankfully, she didn’t have to see, or Arceus forbid, experience the fight that was doubtlessly still raging between the Zoroark and the… the other Pokemon.

Alki turned away from the light, back towards the Piplup. “Let’s… L-Let’s go then, quick, I… I don’t want to fight anyone.” She mumbled, looking around at their surroundings. There were quite a few choices on where to go, in this dimly lit cave, but all she knew was that she wanted to get even further away than they already were. “T-This way?” She said, pointing down one corridor that seemed particularly promising, before proceeding to bounce in that direction. This whole thing had been a mistake, coming to this cave. But she’d be back at the guild, soon enough, and things would be alright again. Somewhat. She couldn't help but feel guilty at the fact she'd left that Zoroark alone, even if the Zoroark could take better care of itself than her. Something about that didn't sit right with her, but it wasn't like she could just go back. She'd made her choice.

Namataki ever so proudly marched on despite the fact that she had pretty much left the zoroark alone. Guiltlessly, she had assumed herself to be the leader of the weak little balloon pokemon now that the bigger monster was gone. She just hoped the pink thing didn't rub her saliva all over her again if she got hurt.

"I don't either" she responded to the balloon pokemon, "I just want to go back to town, curl up in a inn or something, and-hey where you going?!" The piplup had begun to ramble on and had completely ignored the small pokemon when she had spoken and walked off to a diverging path. The piplup rushed to follow behind quickly with a swift cry, "Wait for meeee!"

When she had caught up, she decided to switch back to the topic of the monsters as the distant sound of fighting seemed to die down, "Guess they're done. Wonder who won?" the piplup asked, though her tone certainly did not seem as if she was particularly interested.

--

The dust had cleared, but her body remained. Limp and fragile, one likely would have thought her to be dead save for the rise and fall of her struggled breathing. The fox would heal, but that did not make the pain she currently experienced go away. She had managed to wake up once more, but she failed to move her body. The monster of Serene Cave was gone, she had failed. She managed to take in a deep breath and exhale in defeat. While this one more failure under her belt, she would just have to recoup and try again later.

Terrible Ride [Mada] - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Terrible Ride [Mada]   Terrible Ride [Mada] - Page 2 EmptyThu Aug 17, 2017 11:01 pm

Alki jumped at the sudden cry, her eyes searching her surroundings frantically before realizing that the cry did not come from any threatening Pokemon. Instead, the Piplup came running towards Alki, crying for the balloon Pokemon to wait. She did, not so much because of the request, but because of the sudden pang of fear that froze her in place. This cave wasn't one she'd like to come back to: It had her on edge, much more than usual, and the fear and guilt that was now tied to this place was anything but pleasant.

She covertly gazed up at the Piplup. Now that the Zoroark had left them, this Piplup was her only source of companionship, but Taki hadn’t exactly been exuding friendliness and loyalty. Sure, the whole saliva thing had been more than a bit awkward, but what more could she expect from someone who'd never even read a book on their own, let alone one that dealt with subjects such as healing. That wasn't even the worst of it! The Zoroark hadn't run away, like them; she wasn't a coward like the Igglybuff and Piplup. She'd stayed to fight the monster, while the two smaller Pokemon had fled. It was far too late to go back and help her. Between the winding and twisting passageways they'd bolted through, and the fact that they'd hardly payed attention to their surroundings as they ran, Alki felt rather certain at this point, they wouldn't have even been able to help if they'd wanted to. But Taki certainly didn't want to, by the tone of her voice, it was rather clear that she didn't care much, if at all about the Zoroark. Alki paused, attempting to gather the courage to speak up to the Piplup. The least she could do after running away was to give the Zoroark some proper respect.

“I… I d-don't think you care much who won...” She began, her voice already trembling as she spoke up against her lone companion. But still, she'd done the polar opposite of what a guild member was supposed to do, and if this was how she made up for it, then so be it. After a deep, shuddering breath, she trudged on: “Do you?” Her tone accusing, but at the same time fearful. What if the Piplup left her alone? She didn’t want to be alone. She kept going despite that. “S-She stayed behind, and fought the monster, and you… we… both ran away, like cowards. The least you could do is show a bit of appreciation...”

The girl stopped, collecting herself. That was something she never thought she’d be doing. Talking back to any companion like that, let alone her only one. Namataki had been rather mad at her earlier. Alki hoped that the Piplup wouldn’t leave her or get too mad at her, but… at least she felt a bit better. She wasn’t a complete coward.

Alki saw a light, coming up in the distance. Not from any Pokemon’s move, she thought. It seemed natural, soft, and very, very welcoming. Although there was a bit of a problem when it came to reaching it… a large Crobat was resting on the cave ceiling, only a few meters ahead. And like she’d said earlier, she really didn’t want to fight anything… she paused, unsure of what to do. If the lighting in the cave were brighter, one might’ve been able to see the pale hue of the girl’s face. Despite her earlier outburst, she stared at Namataki, waiting for the Piplup to do something; surely, the piplup was better equipped to handle a feral than she.
