A Shocking Treasure!

Kyraen bounced happily along the path that led into the Pecha Forest. He was so excited! Today he was going on a treasure hunt!!! He had been begging and begging his family to let him go on adventures on his own, but his parents and siblings had been really hesitant to give him permission. But he had kept on begging, and eventually his dad gave him a map and told him that if he could find the treasure located in Pecha Forest, that he could go out on his own!

Kyraen was determined to find this treasure! His dad hadn't told him what the treasure was, nor did the map give any clues. He was so curious, he thought he would burst from curiosity!!! He pulled said map from his bag. He set it on the ground and rolled it out with his paws.

It was a crude map of the forest, with a list of cryptic directions beside the map. The first set of directions read: "To start on your journey to find the treasure of Pecha Forest, one must first find the entrance to the Walkway of Silence. Tread carefully, lest ye disturb the Defenders of Quiet."

Kyraen sat back on his haunches, contemplating the cryptic words. He didn't really understand what the 'Walkway of Silence' was. But it sounded like if he wasn't quiet enough, something -or someone- would attack him!

Boris was still. Unmoving, unblinking. However, Kyren's sobbing jolted him from his trance. "It...It's fake, r-right?" Then things started going south. The tablet stopped doing its magic, and the walls started closing in. It took Boris a moment to understand the gravity of the situation. "Oh Arceus, what do we do, what do we do...", He hopped off of Kyraen, rushed over to the sinking pedestal, and scratched frantically at it. "I...I...look for something you can try and interact with!" Panic had set in and his his voice showed it.

Kyraen was breathing heavily, panic causing him to tremble as he scrabbled at the walls, searching for something, anything, to stop the walls from closing in on them! There was nothing on the walls but smooth purple stone. He went over to the pedestal, which was sinking faster than the walls were closing in.

The pedestal was large and round. Kyraen tilted his head. If the pedestal went below the floor, he could fit in its place... He jumped on top of the pedestal, knocking the tablet to the floor. The pedestal immediately stopped sinking into the ground, and the walls started closing in faster!

Kyraen wailed. "OH NO!" he leapt off of the pedestal and grabbed the tablet in his mouth, placing it on the pedestal again. The pedestal started sinking again, but the walls were still closing in as fast as before! He groaned, willing the pedestal to sink faster.

It eventually sunk into the ground, and Kyraen immediately jumped into the hole it created, scooping Boris in with him with his paw. The pedestal was still sinking into the ground, as the hole above them closed with a shuddering, grinding sound. The walls had completely closed off any escape. All they could hope for now was that the pedestal would keep sinking, and would lead them somewhere they could escape from!

Boris was silent after that experience which was traumatic on so many levels. He closed his eyes, shook for a few moments, and opened his eyes again. "What did you see....", he mumbled softly, still in shock at the horrifying images that the malevolent mirror had shown him. It couldn't be true! His family was alive, right? Boris didn't even know anymore. He just waited, softly whispering reassurances to himself.

Kyraen gulped. "It... it was my dad..." he said quietly. "He... he was upset about something... and then... then something attacked him, and... and... then his belly was split open and..." he pushed away the traumatic images, tears leaking from his eyes.

"It was horrible, Boris... I... I can't imagine you saw anything better, huh?" Kyraen warbled.

While they were talking, the pedestal kept lowering them deeper and deeper into the earth.

Boris looked down. "Sorry you had to see that...." He shook his head sadly, "N-no...I, uh...saw my family...and they were b-burning...and i c-couldn't rec-cognize their bodies b-because they were so burnt...", Boris, recalling the painful visions, started to shake and sob softly. Between sobs he said, "B-but th-the images were f-fake right? It h-has to b-be..."

"It was all a lie, Boris," Kyraen said quietly. "It had to be... just some... some ghost or psychic pokemon messing with us, showing us our worst fears."

The pedestal came to a shuddering halt, and Kyraen glanced around. They had lost the ball of electric light back in the mirror room, and Boris had stopped glowing some time ago. "H-hey, Boris, can you do that light thingy again? I can't see anything."

Boris nodded. "Thanks...K-kyraen." Boris couldn't produce the light from his body, but he could do his other trick. He made the same disk of electricity as before. It flickered, unlike the one from earlier, but still moved forward, slow and steady. "There you g-go...." Boris knew that they had both seen some disturbing stuff, but they had to push on. Boris felt obligated to.

Kyraen breathed a sigh of relief as the joltik lit up the area again. "Thanks," he said quietly. The light revealed a small hole in the wall. Kyraen crouched down and struggled through the tiny opening. When he finally got his body through the hole, he stood up and looked around. The disk of light had followed them through the hole, lighting up a small portion of what looked to be like a huge cavern.

"Huh... I wonder what's in here?" Kyraen mumbled. He really hoped there wasn't another trap waiting for them.

"Let's be more carful this time.", Boris breathed in, and had a shaky exhale. He was done crying. It was fake. The disk stopped flickering as soon as he composed himself. "Only one way to find out, huh?" Like the old saying went, Once bitten, twice shy. The joltik was NOT going to go through another traumatic experience. Boris proceeded to stand on the shoulder fur again. Throughout all this, it seemed like Ky's fur had been a calming place for Boris.

Kyraen nodded at his friend's words. "Yeah, definitely," he agreed. He did not want to go through something like that again. Why had the map led them here? He didn't think his dad would ever send him somewhere that dangerous if he knew about it. Speaking of the map, he pulled it from his bag and unraveled it. The trail ended at the Grave Grotto, and all the map said now was, "Find the treasure."

"Hmm... the treasure must be somewhere nearby," Kyraen deduced. He looked around the cavern and noticed at the edge of his field of vision, something big and bulky nearby. He walked toward it, the light following Boris, who was on his shoulder. The light soon revealed a large chest.

He padded toward it, wary of another trap. But nothing happened as he neared it, and soon they were standing before the chest. Kyraen touched the button in the front of the chest, and it opened silently to a pile of glittering coins and a strange green stone with a lightning bolt pattern on it.

"Huh, look at that! This must be the treasure!" He said excitedly.

Boris gasped. When the chest opened, the treasure was visible for him to see. He beamed. All of the hardships it took to get this far were worth it! We had done it! "That's it!", he exclaimed! He hadn't felt this happy in a LONG time. He was literally bouncing up and down. "I can't believe we made it...", Boris said, tears in his eyes.

Boris looked around nervously. "I don't mean to be a party pooper, but how do we leave? I don't see any exits around here. What if we can't get out?", Hysteria was creeping into Boris's voice and his eyes widened.

Kyraen bounced for joy! He was so excited that they had finally found the treasure! He wasn't really paying attention to his friend's worries as he looked at the strange stone on top of the pile of poke. It was entrancing... so beautiful... "I... I wonder what this stone is?" Kyraen said, reaching out a paw to touch it.

His paw touched the stone, and an electric shock jumped through his body. "Oww!" he cried, but couldn't wrench his paw away from the stone. His paw seemed stuck on the stone. In fact, as he watched, the stone dissolved away underneath his paw.

He blinked, wondering where the stone could have possibly gone, before a sharp white light blinded him. The light was shining all around him. It seemed to be coming from his very fur! Then he gasped as his body started changing; stretching and growing. His legs were getting longer and his body was getting bigger, and his fur was growing spiky!

After a few moments, the light died down, and Kyraen looked down at himself. His fur was a bright yellow-green, and it was incredibly spiky as electricity flowed through his body. "Wow!" Kyraen uttered. "T-that must have been a... a thunderstone! I... I've evolved!" He noticed that his voice was deeper than it had been before.

Boris was scanning for an exit, using Ky as a vantage point. He heard Kyraen cry out in pain and whipped around. "You oka-", Boris was cut off. His friend's fur was growing blindingly bright. He hopped off. What in the world was happening? "What's happening?", he said to the blob of light that formerly used to be Kyraen. Boris quickly shut up when he realized what has happening. He had read something on evolution before, and this seemed very similar to the definition. The light cut off, and in Ky's place was a....Boris had no idea. It was really spiky and yellow. "K-kyraen? Is that you?" For one thing, it appeared that there seemed to be electricity flowing out of them. It wasn't just static. It was the good stuff. Boris squinted at the-pokemon-who-might-be-Kyraen.

Kyraen looked down at his friend, who looked even tinier than before, if that was possible. "Yeah, it's me," he said. His fur was making a constant sparking noise; the sound of electricity crackling as it clashed with itself. It reminded him of his mother, who had the same quality to her fur.

He looked down at the chest of poke. "How are we going to get this out of here?" he wondered aloud. "For that matter," he continued, looking around, "how are we going to get out?"

"Did your evolution give you any fancy new abilities?", Boris said, while looking up at his large friend. "Oh! Shove as many coins in your bag as possible!", He said, grinning. "We'll be rich!" Boris jumped onto Kyraen's back, then crawled onto his shoulder. A teeny bit prickly, but he'll get used to it. He could feel the electricity flowing into him like a stream. Boris was really banking on the fact that Ky got some new powers to get them out of there. "Well, when you're done with the coins, try seeing if you can use your new abilities!", Boris was really excited. He had seen Evolution in process and was going to ask SO MANY questions. They just needed to get out first.
