(Energy: 21-16=5)

There was a rather thick fog surrounding the mountain in the middle of the Black Spear Mountain Range. At the foot of this particular mountain, one could find a strange, white colored Eevee. He was staring at the mountain before him, deeply in thought. "This is...Black Mist Mountain...?" Chase had been at the foot of this mountain before, but he never climbed the mountain. Back then, he was still living with his family and the merchant group. They didn't allow him to go up the mountain, because it was too dangerous and he would end up getting lost. Back then, Chase found the idea of getting lost rather ridiculous, but it seemed they had the right to be concerned. He ends up getting lost in a small town in broad daylight after all. The white Eevee had always been curious what he would find there on that mountain. He had always wanted to explore there, and the time had finally come. The mountain was looming over him. The black mist was swirling around it, giving it a rather eerie impression.

The white Eevee took off the sunglasses he was wearing and put them in his bag. He was not going to need them for now. It was already going to be difficult to see without them and he didn't want to risk breaking them in any way. It was the only thing he had left off his parents, and the only thing that could protect his eyes against the light. Chase glanced around him. There didn't seem to be anyone around. At least, he could not see anyone, but that didn't mean there wasn't anyone else. The mist that surrounded the mountains wasn't worrying him at all. His vision was already bad to begin with. Both his unusual fur and his bad eyesight come from the lack of color pigments in his body, albinism. Chase had learned to rely on his other senses because of this.

Chase took a deep breath and started walking over the path. The wall of mist was getting closer with each step. The Eevee held his head high and didn't show any signs of hesitation or fear. The mist started swirling around him. The air was noticeable growing colder, but that didn't really bother him. Chase slowed down his steps. The mist had completely surrounded him. The white Eevee glanced around him. He was barely able to see anything. It was actually not a good idea for him to explore this area. He had absolutely no sense of direction, tt was very likely he would end up getting lost. "Maybe I should go back..." Chase was wondering what he was supposed to do now. He was already in the middle of the dark mist and he had gotten himself lost so many times before. It was not like he would not find his way back this time, right? The white Eeevee sat down and thought about his next step.

Sy'rin stayed back and watched idly as the her companion avoided the attack and engaged the foe.  It wasn't that she didn't want to help; she was just concerned with stealing her fluffy new friend's spotlight.  After all, she'd gotten her own time in the spotlight already, and while she'd been hoping to make a friend rather than a foe, that still didn't change that the eevee had stayed out of it.  Besides, he was doing such a great job fighting on his own.  It seemed like he had it all covered, so the vaporeon just took a seat and continued to watch.  He tail swayed idly from side to side as she carefully observed the fight, looking for anything that could be taken as a cue for her to jump in.  Despite her lack of concern for the serious situation they were in, she still held enough caution to watch her ally's back.

The fight didn't go on long before the vaporeon found a reason to interfere: the bone....merang.... thing.  The projectile-weapon was on a return-trip straight for the little eevee, but this time, he wasn't in a very good position to dodge it himself.  That didn't seem particularly fair; it was almost like 2 on 1!  Sy'rin didn't want to steal any spotlights, but she also didn't want to let her tiny companion fight an unfair battle.  After a short moment of mental debate, she took a deep breath and allowed freezing energy to collect in her lungs and throat.  She then expelled this energy in a blue-and-white beam of cold death.... which missed the airborne bone entirely.  "Woops," she muttered before taking in another breath and firing once more, this time barely hitting one of the tips of the bone and knocking it off-course and out of the sky.

She sighed and allowed her body to relax for a moment, feeling that her job was now done.  She wanted to rest anyway; Ice Beam didn't really take a lot out of her, but it made her feel all cold inside, which was kind of uncomfortable.  She didn't want to do anything until the chilly feeling faded from her throat.  Besides, her teammate was some awesome guy who could hold his own, and she'd made sure it was going to be a fair fight.  There was nothing to worry about!  Still, she felt kind of awkward doing nothing, so she decided that she could at least cheer him on.  "You're doing great!" she encouraged before falling into silent contemplation over what she'd just said.
She sounded less like a cheerleader and more like a proud mother.  That seemed weird to her, so she could only assume it was way weirder to her friend who had a mother that wasn't her.  Probably.  She was pretty sure she wasn't his mother.

"Uh.... I hope it's okay that I helped a little!" she quickly tried to cover for her previous, moderately awkward statement.
At no point during her thought process did she consider that perhaps Chase wanted help.  She'd just made the assumption that the eevee was like her; that he wanted to look cool and be in the spotlight; and she was sticking with this assumption without the slightest bit of doubt.  She was also failing to consider that perhaps her loud talking could draw potentially unwanted attention.

Unusual colors in the dark mist - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Unusual colors in the dark mist   Unusual colors in the dark mist - Page 2 EmptySat Nov 12, 2016 9:10 pm

The Marowak glared at the white Eevee before them. This was an intruder, someone who didn't belong on the mountain. This was their territory and they would fight to protect it from everyone. The feral looked in the area behind the intruder, spotting his bone fly right at the Eevee. They were rather pleased the intruder was unaware of the attack. It would probably deal a good amount of damage.

Chase had absolutely no idea of what was happening behind him. He would certainly have been hit by the boonemerang if Sy'rin hadn't intervened. The bone landed next to the white Eevee and bounced a bit further, stopping a bit behind the Marowak. Chase looked surprised and confused at it. He was pretty sure the bone was tossed away, how did it end up coming back? He glanced behind him, the only other Pokemon he could see was Sy'rin. She wouldn't have tossed the bone, would she?

The Marowak was rather unhappy the bone missed, but used the confusion and distraction to grab his weapon again. Chase was still pondering about what happened, when Sy'rin yelled that she helped him. That confused Chase even more. How would throwing the Marowak's weapon back, help him? She could have hit him. "Huh? Helped me? What do you mean? You have just been sitting there!" He told her, having shifted his attention to the shiny Vaporeon.

At that moment, he could feel something smacking directly on his head. The force made him fall back and left him a bit dazed. It didn't really take a genius to figure out the Marowak had attacked him with their bone. They sure were strong. He was not really sure he could beat the ground type. There was still a lot he had to learn after all. The Marowak let out a cry and stomped at him and then tackled Chase away.

Despite these attacks, Chase barely let out any sound. He refused to show weakness to an enemy. There were Pokemon who caught onto that, and that often was not a good sign. The Eevee was already in trouble though. Chase glanced at Sy'rin. He wondered why she wasn't helping him. Was it a matter of pride? The Vaporeon was a bit odd. Well, it seemed he had to beat the Marowak by himself.

Chase slowly got up, and stared at the Marowak. The ground type let out a growl and tossed their bone at Chase again. The white Eevee was prepared, and dodged it with the help of the move, detect. Then he ran up the the Marowak and tackled them again. The Eevee kept struggling with them. This time, he waited for the bone to return, hoping it would come back like it had done before. That was what it did. Chase jumped over the Marowak, surprising it and causing the Marowak to get in the course of their own bone. He was not sure how effective it would be, but the Marowak seemed too surprised to think about dodging the bone. If nobody intervened, it would probably knock out the Marowak.

Unusual colors in the dark mist - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Unusual colors in the dark mist   Unusual colors in the dark mist - Page 2 EmptyWed Dec 14, 2016 7:05 am

For a moment, Sy'rin felt good about helping her ally despite the fact that she'd stolen a tiny bit of his spotlight. Then his response shattered her pride; her deed had apparently gone entirely unnoticed. Either that, or the eevee was simply choosing to ignore what she'd done. Her body drooped a bit to show the immense disappointment emanating from her being. She had been prepared for Chase to be thankful, indifferent or even upset over her intervention, but she hadn't expected him to simply accuse her of doing nothing. If she was going to be judged for not doing anything, she at least wanted to be able to enjoy not doing anything.

With her mind rapidly descending into childish depression, the vaporeon watched idly as her silvery companion continued his duel. If her attempts to help were simply going to go ignored and she was going to be accused of not helping anyway, she wasn't going to bother trying to help in the first place. Maybe he'd have too much trouble and pay more attention to her the next time she decided to help. Maybe he'd even beg! This was perhaps a rather dark thing to hope, but Sy'rin had a habit of being dark without even realizing it. Maybe she would have been best-off evolving into an umbreon, but for some reason, the very thought of being an umbreon brought an odd sense of dread to her mind. Besides, she liked being a fancy fish thing way more.

Her plan to get the fluffy eevee to pay more attention to her seemed like it would be a success at first, with the poor little thing taking some blows that looked rather painful. However, this soon changed with him figuring the bone's shenanigans out and using it against the marowak. The bone was now coming straight at the stupid thing, and for all she knew, that'd be enough to knock it out! Having Chase get ahead in the fight simply wouldn't do; it was going to completely ruin her plan. Theatrical panic washed over the vaporeon as she tried to think of a solution to this problem. With very little time, she ended up making what one could call a... bad decision.

Just as the bone neared the marowak, Sy'rin took in a breath and released another beam of freezing energy, seemingly in the direction of the foe. However, rather than the marowak, the thing she hit was the bone, knocking it away once more. The only thing different about this time was that she was now helping the enemy. She didn't quite consider the potential consequences of her decision until it had already been made, and even then, she cared more about the fact that she'd actually hit her target on the first try this time. "There, ignore that!" she challenged the eevee who was supposed to be her ally.

Needless to say, the marowak seemed confused. This didn't last long, however, before it retrieved its bone and prepared to continue its fight. It was at about this point that Sy'rin decided to help, but not for the sake of assisting her partner. No, she simply wanted to take the glory of winning the fight from him; since he had been ungrateful with her attempt to help, this was the only thing she could think to do to get back at him that wasn't excessively cruel. She failed to consider the possibility that he wouldn't really care which one of them got the finishing blow. The marowak arched its arm back in preparation to throw the bone at the eevee once more, but when it noticed the vividly colored vaporeon rushing straight at it, its instead switched targets and tossed the bone at her.

This was just what she wanted.

Sy'rin was an insane airhead and perhaps even an idiot at times, but she was far from incapable of fighting, and she intended to show some of that off. As the bone neared her, she sidestepped to avoid taking a hit from it, then caught it out of the air as it flew by her. The force behind the the bone caused he to stumble back as if she'd been pulled in the direction the bone had been heading, but she quickly caught her footing ant tossed the horrid thing back. As the marowak reached an arm out to catch its weapon and stop it from being hit, the vaporeon let loose another Ice Beam, this time aiming to actually hurt the enemy. Its guard had been put down as it attempted to catch the bone, so it was left helpless against the freezing beam against its chest. It reflexively pulled its arms inward in an attempt to block the attack, only to have the bone slam right into its head, knocking it to the ground.

Without checking to see if the foe was defeated, Sy'rin turned toward Chase with the intention of gloating. "See that? That's how you win in style."
She kept her composure on the outside, but inside she was practically screaming in joy over the fact that she'd actually successfully grabbed the bone out of the air for style points.
