First topic message reminder :

Jake had finally made it back to the hilly landscape.  He really wanted to see what hidden mysteries he could find in the area, to test his skills in exploring.  The Tepig wondered if he'll even be able to find just one secret in all of this mist though.  He looked all around near the entrance, but there was nothing to find there.  Maybe he would meet someone who could help the poor fire type in his escapades.

Russell 1

Yet to encounter;
-Kricketot
Yet to find;
-Purple Gummi
-Reviver Seed
-Negative Trap

Russell breathed a sigh of relief as the Tepig confirmed that he was fine despite the encounter with his opponent. The Burmy was about to answer Jake when the Linoone launched forwards once again. This time Russell was ready and dropped more than one small rock on the Pokemon's head. The Linoone seemed to find this a distasteful experience, as it soon turned tail and headed off into the mists, deeming the whole battle not worth the effort and escaping whilst it still could.

After a few quiet moments where Russell made sure that the Linoone wasn't coming back, the Burmy began to make his way back over to Jake, reclaiming his bag and journal at the same time.
"Honestly about Burmy, normally we only know Protect, but since my dreams involve a lot of travelling and exploring, I made it a point to teach myself a move that could potentially be used for offensive purposes," he replied with a smile.

Jake grinned back, thankful that it seemed there weren't any more feral Pokemon for the time being.  Looking around in quick caution, the Tepig decided that there was nothing else lurking in the mist, for now.  Fletchling from before sped by, like a speeding red bullet.

"So, walking onward again?"  The hog asked with a smile, looking at the Burmy with glee.  Jake attemped at some more casual conversation, now that the conflict was out of the way.  Hopefully, there wouldn't be too many more distractions.  "The're so much more to explore around here, so much excitement. This trill is the sort of thing I look for in adventuring, after all."

The Burmy's senses admittedly weren't all that sharp, as his one antenna was actually used for hanging from tree branches rather than being a part of his sensory arsenal. Well... he could sense things through the branch he was on, but that was it as far as he was concerned. His other senses; sight and hearing especially needed work, and it was something that Russell was very conscious of, and also part of the reason why he wished so dearly to evolve and become a Mothim.

Watching the Tepig's ears twitch as Jake looked around for any further threats, Russell relaxed when he seemed to deem there was nothing nearby, instead turning his attention to casual conversation, suggesting that they move onwards. Russell agreed with a nod before listening curiously to the hog's next words.

"A lot of pokemon would think the same," replied the Burmy with a small smile, "What makes all the difference in an explorer or a casual wanderer is how they record what they find. At least in my opinion," he revealed, before turning and hopping along their chosen path.

"Right.  There's a fine line."  Jake nodded at his acquaintance.  He'll need to start doing that sometime soon.  It was a pretty good idea.  "I haven't really recorded anything from my travels so far.  Though I wouldn't mind giving it a try."

The Tepig looked out towards the haze in front of them, and saw a small, shadow, continuously bouncing.  He slowed down his pace, and turned to Russell.  "Be careful, there's something right out over there, hidden by the fog."  He couldn't tell exactly what it was, but he assumed it was more than likely a Spoink, due to how it was springing up and down.  As they neared closer, Jake just moved slower, reducing his speed to nearly that of a crawl.

Russell smiled ever so slightly at the Tepig's response to his words. He seemed willing to write what would be needed in reports as part of the Windrose Scouts, and he was definitely interested in exploring.

The Burmy had been about to speak, when Jake had spoken once again, warning of something within the fog. Russell nodded, squinting at the fog ahead of them in the direction the other pokemon had pointed in. He could just about see something in there, bobbing up and down.

Although he watched the odd pokemon's silhouette for a moment, something else quickly caught his attention instead. It was an item, a seed of some description, and it had just been left on the ground as if waiting for something to find it.

Russell remained still, not wanting to ruin whatever Jake was trying to do as he drew closer, the Burmy inching forward ever so slightly. Although he kept an eye on the Spoink's silhouette, he also made a note of where the seed was located, intending to pick it up if he had the chance. Hopefully they wouldn't be attacked again by another of the pokemon that lived on the hill, but if it did in fact happen, then Russell would need his wits about him so that he could react if the Spoink's intended target didn't end up being Jake.

The Burmy stopped entirely as the Tepig's speed decreased further, almost to that of a crawl. He waited, wanting to see just what Jake was planning to do.

Jake stopped entirely when he could fully make out the Pokemon.  His suspicions were confirmed, the pink pearl on its head sparkling in the sunlight that only barely shone out through the dense fog.  It had been looking away, and it was wearing some sort of ribbon or band.  He couldn't exactly tell what it was, but the Tepig decided he wanted no trouble.  Just as he was about to turn around and direct Russell in a different direction, the bouncing pig looked right at Jake.

"I was hoping we could avoid this, but now the damned feral noticed us."  As he spoke, the hog had a heat in its mouth.  This soon turned into a small flame, as Jake readied his Flamethrower.  He turned to look at the Burmy besides him.

"Are you ready?"  As the Tepig spoke, a few stray, small cinders fell on the ground, smoking instantly, but not starting any fires.  He stepped on one as he looked back at the blackish pig, making a sizzling sound underneath his hoof.

It attacked with a beam of energy.  Psybeam.  Jake attacked right away, flying his flare of flame straight for the ray the Spoink had conjured up.  They met each other in the middle, causing a blast of fire and psychic power, which left a small crater directly under it.

The grass around the indent lay singed, while the fog momentarily faded in the area.  It became much brighter for a second, allowing Jake to see another Pokemon on the sidelines.  It was a Kricketot, but he couldn't tell if it were friend or foe.  Although, he couldn't care about that right now, as another beam of energy flew past his face.

He turned back towards the pig, and got back into focus, already slamming the ground, rocks flying up.  He hit them, but he was becoming exhausted already.  The boulders flew past the Spoink, one of them breezing by under it as it hopped up.

"I don't think I exactly have a choice," the Burmy quipped lightheartedly, although he did ready himself for a fight. Jake seemed to leap straight in, attacking with a Flamethrower that dealt no damage to the pokemon but left a small scar on the landscape. It also evaporated the moisture in the air, temporarily lifting the mist in the area.

Russell scanned the area for more rocks that he could use as weapons and, spotting a few, waited patiently for his chance to aid in the fight against the Spoink. He'd noticed a Kricketot once the fog had lifted, but as it didn't seem to be intervening he chose to leave it be just as the Tepig had done.

When the Spoink dodged Jake's Rock Throw, Russell tossed the few rocks that he'd found towards the Spoink as it jumped. It was a perfect hit thanks to the timing, colliding with the Spoink's pearl just as it reached the peak of it's jump. The psychic type seemed not to have expected this, and so was startled when the pearl that was precariously perched upon it's head was knocked off, rolling across the ground.

Jake watched the smaller rocks fly off towards the bouncing pig, knocking its precious, purple pearl clean off of its perch.  The Spoink screeched, looking at the dimming orb, which was now rolling further and further away.  The Tepig took this chance to fire off another Flamethrower.  The psychic type started scrambling off towards the ball, but stopped as it sensed the fire forming within the flame hog's mouth.

It turned around, and fired off multiple Psybeam attacks in rapid succession.  Them being quick bursts, coupled with the fact that the Spoink had lost its power amplifying pearl, they were all weak.  Jake easily burned right though each ray of pure energy, and torched the Spoink.  Apparently. this was all that was needed for the pig to become terrified, and ran off towards the direction of the pink orb, psychically levitating it upon its head, and hopping away, deep into the grey and white haze.

"I guess it wasn't all that without that ball sitting on its brain.  Didn't actually know that it acted as a power amplifier."  The fire type looked back over at Russell, giving him a wide grin.  "Nice thinking, and aiming, too!"

Russell was a little relieved as the Tepig seemed to take point on the rest of the fight, causing the Spoink to retreat after a couple of Flamethrower attacks. The Burmy only had Hidden Power to his name after all, and against another psychic type it wasn't going to be that effective if he had taken the time to use his attack like a beam.

Nevertheless the fight was over, the Spoink had fled, and Jake had turned to Russell with a wide grin and had praised his thinking and aim.

The Burmy couldn't help the small blush that he gained, even at such a small amount of praise.
"O-oh, uh. Thanks," he smiled, "It was nothing really. I just heard from a passing Spoink once that their pearls were like their power source and it was a lucky shot really haha!" he ended up rambling on, apparently not sure how to handle being praised so forthrightly by someone he hadn't known for very long.

When his blush calmed down, Russell turned his attention to the Kricketot and watched it skulk off into the undergrowth, seemingly deciding that the duo were not worth the effort of fighting when they had so easily beaten the Spoink that had attacked them.

"No need to be so modest, you did great.  Without you, I probably wouldn't have been able to make that Spoink run off like that."  Jake said, looking back at the Kricketot, who had now disappeared into the depths of the fog.

Turning back to Russell, the Tepig noticed something lying on the ground, over in the direction of where the psychic pig had been bouncing.  Taking a quick glance at the Burmy right next to him, he decided to stroll on down to the rumpled piece of cloth.  It was the thing that the feral Pokemon had been wearing.  Jake picked it up, and put it in his small bag.

He walked back to his acquaintance, and asked about which way to now.  He didn't want to get too far into the dungeon, as he needed to sleep, and this was too dangerous a place to rest one's eyes.

As the Tepig went to pick up the piece of fabric that the Spoink had dropped in it's abrupt leave from the area, Russell turned his attention back to the seed he'd spotted earlier, glancing around and trying to relocate it.

He spotted it a moment later, just beyond his sight as the hill's mists began to close back in around them after Jake's fiery moves. The Burmy then moved towards it, identifying it as a Reviver Seed by sight and grinning. They were definitely handy items so it was worth it to find one out here.

Russell was about to reach for the seed when the ground collapsed beneath him, dropping him rather ungracefully in a pit in the ground. As he fell, the Burmy made an "Eeeek!" noise that echoed out from the pitfall. Luckily he landed on an assortment of leaf and plant litter that softened the fall, although he could also spot a couple of other random items mixed in with the dead plantlife.

He had vaguely heard Jake asking him which direction they should head in now before he had fallen, and called up to the Tepig.
"Uh... well. Up is probably the best way for me right now," he replied, trying to make light of the situation.

As soon as his ears perked at the screech, Jake quickly shuffled over to the Burmy.  Glancing around the immediate area, the pig decided that it was safe to focus all attention on the large pit in front of him, now home to Russell.  Looking down into the hole, he noticed there were a couple of items down there, beside his acquaintance.

Jake snorted at the reply he got from the bug.  "That's one place to start!"  He replied, chuckling a bit as he scanned the immediate area for anything to help.  He took note of a lone stick on the ground only a few meters away.  The Tepig called down to Russell, making his way towards the branch.  "Hold on one second, I think I found something to help you out of there!"

Although he had a bit of trouble holding onto it at first, he finally picked it up.  He walked back towards the trap, setting down the stick.  As he shoved it in, careful not to poke out the Burmy's eyes, he talked into the hole.

"Might be a good idea to get those items down there.  Although, you probably already thought of that."  Jake added the last bit after a few seconds, realizing that statement was probably true.  Hindsight is 20/20, as always.

Russell nodded as the Tepig called down that he thought he'd found a way to help him get out of there... and then realised that Jake wouldn't be able to see him nodding and called out, "Okay."

A few moments later, a stick was being held out to him. Not the sturdiest of structures, but considering the fact that he was merely a tiny bug pokemon and was pretty lightweight, he figured it would be sturdy enough to hold him.

He began to gather the items from the pitfall as Jake spoke to him again. The Reviver Seed that had dropped him in here, along with a Purple Gummi and a Special Band. Once they were all tucked safely into his back he made sure his bag was tightly wound around himself and then grabbed hold of the stick.

"Alright, i've got them all. You can pull me out now," he called up to the Tepig.

After a few moments of trying to grab the stick, Jake hoisted it up, pulling Russell back into the world of thick mists and not being trapped in holes.  After the Burmy hopped off of the branch, the hog dropped it and sat down a bit.  He was thoroughly tired after today.  Having been in two fights in one day, and he fumbled with a large twig multiple times.

"Man, am I beat?"  The Tepig said with a sigh of exhaustion.  He glanced at his friend, he felt they got that far, at least, after this small excursion.  Breathing a bit heavily, he closed his eyes for a moment, opening them once more as he began speaking.  "I think we should head back.  But first, I would like to know what those items are you found down there."

"It certainly has been an eventful day," the Burmy chuckled before thanking the Tepig for pulling him out and then dusting himself down and rearranging his autumn leafed cloak now that he was back on proper ground. A few of the leaves had fluttered down to the ground as he'd been hoisted up, and though he'd lost some in the pitfall, the ones that were on the ground outside the hole he had replaced in his cloak.

After this, Russell rummaged through his bag to get out the seed he'd found, along with the gummi and special band.
"These are the things I found in there. Do you want any of them?" he asked politely. Honestly he'd rather keep the reviver seed for himself but since Jake had pulled him out from the pitfall it would be nice to at least offer. He also had another thing he needed to talk to the Tepig about before they parted ways.
