The Stray and the Wild

Another day full of darkness. This odd energy still persisted throughout the land. This dark energy could be felt by those sensitive to aura, emotions, or even psychic energy.

Will this darkness ever lift... a golden riolu thought as it sat in its new favorite spot among the tree facing the pond. It was a place he spotted as he had come across the area after running away from the only place he had known as a home.

His eyes closed as he focused on sensing the surrounding aura. Having an easier time doing so here then most places. This place always seemed pretty quiet to him. Something that made it easier to focus when he has had a thoughtful day.

The sky seemed to pulse with energy every so often. The purplish glow that was just barely visible in the clouds. It was an unsettling sight to most. However, Raul continued to remain perfectly calm in this chaos. Something that most didn't quite understand about him.

The golden riolu watched as the rain got heavier. Listening to the slow pattering go to an all out pounding on the wood above them. The riolu let out a light sigh at the sight. He looked over towards the cubeone as he started to say something. Something about a charizard and not killing it possibly? Then the word exile... Putting it together himself, he got a few ideas about the meaning. Maybe this pokemon was exiled for not killing a target or something?

He didn't want to interrupt the cubone's thought though, as it seemed he wasn't exactly speaking towards him. He just hoped that whatever the pokemon was going through. He would find a way through or seek help. He would be pretty willing to help if he was asked.

Rouge was getting frustrated by this point, he wasn't able to distinguish whether his dream was real, or if what he remembered of what happened was correct. He growled and grumbled to himself, unsure of how to take this. Rouge looked at 'gold', should he ask him or even tell him? he wouldn't figure it out himself, but to tell a pokemon he'd only just met may be disastrous. He sighed heavily, what should he do? Rouge closed his eyes concentrating hard to blank his mind. He stayed like this for several minutes before opening his eyes again. He looked back to 'gold'

"Tr-o-u-ble d-dr-rea-m... f-fa-ke... n-no-ot f-ak-e.... n-no-t k-kn-o-w..." Rouge spoke trying to pull his sounds in to words best he could, "T-tr-ib-e... v-vi-la-ge c-cl-a-ss t-tr-i-ia-l k-k-i-l-ll c-ch-a-r-iz-ar-rd. f-or-t-y u-us... s-so-me d-i-ie... t-tr-y s-st-o-op k-k-il-l? m-ma-y-be...?"

The golden riolu felt the aura flicker as the pokemon became frustated at some point. This caused him to look over to the pokemon. Was everything alright? After waiting a moment, the pokemon seemed to close its eyes as it concentrated on something for several minutes. The cubone looked towards him. Saying, Troubled... dream... fake.. not fake... Not know...

Pasting those words together in his own mind. He started to make some sense of it until the pokemon began to speak again. Tribe.. village. class trial... kill charizard. forty us... some die.. try stop... kill maybe?

The words still coming out very slowly. He took the fragmented speach and started to make work of it quickly. Something about having bad dreams and not knowing whether it was real? A bad dream? He had a nightmare... I know that, maybe that is what he meant... he thought to himself as he pasted the words together. Still putting the puzzle together was difficult, but not too much for him. "You had a bad dream... You can't tell if it was a memory?" he asked the pokemon as he continued to paste the words together. Tribe, village... The village was attacked by a charizard? So they send others to hunt it maybe?... hmm I can't assume these things... I need to know more... the riolu thought to himself. It wasn't something he was going to investigate with ease. That was for sure, he might not even do it unless the pokemon wanted him to. It really isn't his business. However, he was attempting to help the pokemon with whatever it needed.

Rouge wasn't sure how to make it more clear to 'gold' as he had already used his best descriptive words he could muster. He thought long and hard about this and started to draw. he first started to draw his village and his class. he then drew the Charizard and continued on from there recreating the dream as best he could in drawings for 'gold'. Once he was finished drawing it out and speaking the story again he had hoped that 'gold' may understand and help him. This dream was turning out to be trouble as he had thought it would, but if it was more trouble than it was worth he knew not.

From what Raul could see. The cubone most likely didn't get its points across to him. He watched as it started to draw in the ground around them. First a village, then a group of pokemon next to it. He figured it was the cubone's group.

Watching the pokemon continue to draw the events out on the ground. It eventually drew a figure that looked very similar to a charizard. From his best guess, it probably was the charizard.

The images that was drawn showed the cubone attacking the charizard in a cave. Supposedly the lair of the pokemon. Once he got to drawing the flames on the charizard. The golden riolu was starting to make more sense of what the pokemon had attempted to say earlier.

Eventually, there was a lone cubone in the drawing that stood out. The cubone was the only one that was not attacking the fire type. Eventually, the cubone redrew the same cubone. However, it was blocking the others from attacking the charizard.

Eventually the word exiled clicked in his head. He quickly pointed towards the cubone and then towards the cubone. "Is... this you?" he asked to confirm his suspicion.

Rouge nodded with wet eyes. "D-dr-re-am... r-re-a-l... n-no-ot k-kn-o-ow..." He spoke with no real confidence. This dream was much too vivid to be nothing but a dream, though could this really be the case? His mind was swimming in doubt. His parents always told him talking to others about his problems would help even if the other pokemon couldn't, but he wasn't sure if he could even think about this topic any more much less figure it out. He was ready to give up if 'gold' wasn't able to help figure out this dream.

The golden riolu looked at the cubone with a sympathetic look. He understood now what this pokemon was having trouble with. From the sounds of it, he must of left his home or was forced to leave. The dream that it had was either a memory or a nightmare. Technically it was a nightmare regardless. However, he wouldn't know for sure if it was a memory or not. This is something he would not be able to tell.

"Dream, or memory... They are both in the past... Some things we cannot help or change." he said on a soft tone. "I know such pain... " he said as he looked towards his bag. It wasn't the same pain, but... it can be the same in some ways.

Rouge nodded, and listened to the rain. 'somethings we cannot help or change'... those words both stung and soothed rouge's mind. something else popped into his mind at this moment though, he was sure at this point he wouldn't figure out the dream, but maybe he could learn better speech? The rain didn't seem like it would let up and the dream problem was all but solved... he looked at 'gold' quietly for a moment.

"h-he-l-lp s-sp-pe-ea-k be-t-t-er...?" Rouge asked, if he could just speak better... he might have a better chance at solving other problems he may have in the future.

Raul watched the Cubone for a moment as it took in his comments. He then looked out towards the rain as he listened to the pounding of the rain above, and the pattering of the rain from outside. He knew for sure that the cubone wasn’t going to go out in this, so he didn’t mind staying here at all. He wouldn’t want to get soaked himself, and his company wasn’t the type to like rain. It was a ground type after all, and water is a bit hard on them after all.

As time went by, eventually the ground type started to speak again. Raul looked over towards it as he spoke, listening to the syllables that were said. He put it together and heard that it was asking if he could help him speak better. Raul thought for a moment as he looked towards the rain once more.

He eventually nodded, but the problem that he might have with helping was finding out how much the Pokémon already knew. From what Raul could tell, he just had problems finding words to things, or pronouncing them clearly. He talked very slowly as if unsure about words.

The question now would be, what should he start with?

Rouge was happy when 'gold' agreed to help, perhaps there situation wasn't as bad as he had hoped. He laid his bone to rest on the ground near him. Sitting up, Rouge turned towards 'gold' awaiting for him to start his lesson. He was ready to hopefully be able to speak better.He sat there quietly listening to the rain as he waited. It seemed as if it had let up slightly, but Rouge knew better than that. Never trust the rain has stopped until you see it's all clear outside, that's what his parents said. He missed his village, but pushed such a thought out of his mind.

The golden riolu looked around for a moment then thought of something to start with, especially since he noticed the Pokémon waiting for him to start teaching right away. Raul looked towards the rain for a moment before deciding to start there. Raul looked towards the ground type and then pointed outside. “Rain” he stated as he looked towards the ground for a moment.

He then decided to draw a cloud in the dirt then the drops below it. Then repeating rain as he pointed towards it. He then waited for the Pokémon’s response at the word. He wanted to see how well he could pronounce it. The next thing he would teach the Pokémon was cloud, using a similar method to show what it was.

"R-ai-in." Rouge spoke, he felt slightly humiliated, he knew what most things were, but he also knew it would be good for him. He hated the rain, and that was one thing he'd never forget. He shifted unesially as he heard the rain get harder again, he knew that the storm wasn't over when it had slowed a bit. There was only one hope he had, there wouldn't be any more thunder, but he had a hunch will be more, much, much more.

Raul sat there as Rouge spoke out “rain”. As he listened, he couldn’t help but wonder how much the Pokémon already knew. Was it possible that he was repeating stuff it knew already? These thoughts began to enter his mind as he noticed the Pokémon shift oddly as it gave off a sign of being uneasy about something. Raul remained silent for a moment as he thought of something else to teach. Instead of his original plan with going through the current weather, he felt it might be best to do some kind of greeting.

”Sorry, I wasn’t thinking… You probably knew rain already.” he apologized to the Cubone. Thinking for another moment he finally decided to do some greetings. He even started with himself since he realized they haven’t actually introduced themselves. ”My name is raul.” he said as he pointed to himself. “What is your name?” he asked as he pointed towards the ground type. ”Raul” he stated as he pointed to himself once more then switching to Rouge.

He figured this might be important to learn when he has to interact with other Pokémon in the area.

"R-ro-u-g-ge" Rouge replied when 'gold's' finger was pointed at him. He took note of 'Gold's' real name, though he preferred gold. Though this was still simple stuff, this would be better for him to learn in the long run. Rouge jumped the moment he heard thunder, whimpering, shivering, and closed his eyes. He held him self for several moments to calm himself down and looked towards the entrance. The storm was starting to get worse compared to it's start. This was going to be a long night for him.

Rouge sighed and steadied himself for more learning, hoping to ignore any more bout of thunder that would come. He opened his eyes ready to start learning again.

Raul nodded as he heard the Pokémon pronounce its name. He let out a small smile as it did so, eventually turning towards the outside when the clap of thunder occurred. He felt the aura within the Pokémon stutter as it seemed to jump from the sound. He stared out into the open darkness the weather had provided. He didn’t have to guess, but it seemed the cubone didn’t like this weather. It even seemed afraid of thunder, which isn’t always a bad thing.

“Thunder…” he said softly to himself before turning towards Rouge. “You don’t like thunder.” raul said openly. He then looked towards the ceiling of their little shelter and then towards the wall. He moved over slightly and reached for a loose branch in the wall and broke it off. The golden riolu rubbed its paw on each spot of it, feeling for moisture. After a moment, he was satisfied and broke of a few more pieces and then some of the fluffy roots from above. “Would you like a fire?” he asked as he lifted the sticks up.
