Pterra, the Aerodactyl Aerial Outlaw Empty
PostSubject: Pterra, the Aerodactyl Aerial Outlaw   Pterra, the Aerodactyl Aerial Outlaw EmptyFri Jan 23, 2015 8:40 pm

» Name: Pterra
» Gender: Male
» Species: #142: Aerodactyl, the Fossil Pokemon
» Affiliation: Outlaw

» Level: 5
» Energy: 25
» Ability: Pressure
» Moves:
Dragon Breath (Egg Move)
Fire Fang (Start)
Ice Fang (Start)
Thunder Fang (Start)

» Personality:
Pterra has a heart of ice. He is cold and calculating in all that he does, using logic to lead him rather than emotions. He has closed off his emotions for so long that he barely feels them anymore. The problem with pushing away his emotions, though, is that they will build up and he will explode with fury at times, wrecking anything or anybody who happens to have the misfortune of being around him at the time. He keeps these outbursts to a minimum though, usually foreseeing it happening and making sure to be in an isolated area at the time. He doesn’t do this because he cares about those he harms, but rather because he does not want anyone witnessing him losing control, as he sees loss of control as a weakness. Despite his icy heart and cruel tongue, he generally avoids directly harming another pokemon unless it is absolutely necessary, as he sees the need to resort to physical persuasion as being reserved for hired thugs, which he considers himself above.

» Likes:

-Gold/money: Pterra sees the possession of gold and money as one of the key components to being wealthy. He wants to be seen as rich and as someone to envy, and to him, possession of a lot of gold represents this desire.

-Puzzles/Riddles/Logic Games: Pterra enjoys playing mind games, in both senses of the phrase. He enjoys challenges and pushing his mind to its limits, and he expects everyone else to as well. Oftentimes, if a pokemon he is looting from shows intelligence, he will offer to return their items, if they correctly answer one of his logic puzzles or riddles. He finds enjoyment from watching them crack under the pressure and then mocking them when they fail.

-Flying: This is practically the only thing Pterra enjoys merely because it makes him genuinely happy. When he is flying, he feels free and away from everything in his past and away from the worries of the future. He enjoys the feeling of the wind skimming past his wings and loves riding the air currents as if he were surfing the very air.

-Books: Books are a great source of information for Pterra. He enjoys learning how things work and why the world is the way it is. He often steals books for reading at his pleasure in his cave.

» Dislikes:

-Unintelligent Pokemon: Pterra is infuriated by pokemon who are stupid or don’t use logic to guide them as he does. He doesn’t understand how any pokemon could let their emotions lead them, when to him, emotions always lead to hurt and betrayal. This makes him feel superior to any pokemon who lets themselves be impaled on their own sword, so-to-speak. He will mock and berate any pokemon that he feels is being stupid or illogical, using cruel words to see them crack, believing that he is teaching them a vital lesson about life.

-Rain/Storms: Pterra would never admit it, but he is terrified of thunderstorms. The lightning frightens him because when he was younger, he was on his way home during a thunderstorm and was struck by lightning. He barely survived, and he has a burn scar stretching down the entire length of his back from where the lightning struck. Rain reminds him of that day, and he can also not see very well when it is raining, so he can’t fly when it rains. Whenever there is a storm or rains, he finds cover immediately and does not leave the shelter until it has stopped.

-Failure: Pterra cannot stand failure. He prides himself on being smart, logical, and strong, and if he were to fail at any of his goals, it would mean that he wasn’t smart, logical, or strong enough to complete his goal. He cannot accept this, as the only person to never fail him in his life has been himself, so failure would mean to him that he wasn’t worth anything.

» History:

Pterra grew up as the oldest child of five, being a year older than his siblings. His parents were not bad pokemon at all, but with a family of seven to care for, and Pterra being a rather quiet pokemon, Pterra was often forgotten by his parents. He mostly sat in a corner and read books he had checked out from their town’s library. It was from these books that he learned the joys of logic and riddles. Pterra often tried to tell his parents at dinner what he had learned from his books, but was nearly always ignored. This infuriated him and hurt him more than he would ever admit, but it was at this young age that he learned to start hiding his emotions.

Since they were a family of seven and their mother stayed at home to take care of all the children, only Pterra’s father worked. This made it hard for their family to make ends. Pterra grew up in near poverty; all of his possessions had always had at least two owners before him. This poverty in his youth contributes to his need to have a lot of money, as if it would make up for his younger days of never having enough to eat and hand-me-down hand-me-downs.

When Pterra was old enough, he began to explore the town by himself. The other local kids often hung around the town aimlessly when they weren't with their parents, doing stupid things like trying to throw themselves from a wall to fly even if they weren't a flying type pokemon. Pterra tried hanging out with his peers, but they were so much less intelligent than him that he couldn't relate to them at all, and instead began to despise other pokemon for being so stupid.

Since he felt so different from his peers, he showed it very obviously. He felt superior to them, and acted like it. When they returned the favor by mocking him, teasing him, and even beating him up; this only worsened his view of them. It was a vicious cycle of dislike and cruelty; they would tease him, beat him up, causing him to dislike them more, causing him to act even more superior, which in turn would make them attack him again, and so on. Pterra soon learned how to fight back, as he had no desire to be pounded into the ground every day.

He went to his father and bothered him, and kept bothering him until his father actually paid him mind. Then he had his father teach him how to fight. Pterra learned that he got lucky in the gene pool, as he inherited the Dragon Breath technique from one of his dragon ancestors. It was a powerful move that he took to easily, using the move to stop the other children from beating him up. But even when he was not being physically abused by his peers, they still mocked him and insulted him. He kept pushing his emotions away, not allowing them to get in the way of his learning, unknowing of the eruption that he was on the brink of.

Despite all his misgivings and previous experiences, when a friendly Deino approached him one day and said she wanted to be his friend, Pterra was caught off-guard. He wasn’t a bad pokemon at heart; he just wanted to be seen as who he truly was and appreciated for it, just like anyone else. At first he was wary of her, wary of a trick, but Deino was patient and always kind. After a few months, Pterra came to trust her, and they quickly became friends after that.

They both liked the same kinds of books, and riddles! Pterra knew that he was smarter than Deino, but for once, it didn’t make him angry or disgusted. In fact, he felt that it was rather endearing, especially when she looked at him with confusion when she didn’t understand a concept. He became her tutor, helping her understand difficult concepts. Pterra was elated, truly happy for once in his life, as there was someone who actually saw who he was and appreciated his smarts.

But it was not to be. As if to mock him for ever believing that he could be happy, the world struck him a hard blow one stormy night. He and Deino had been at the library very late, working on a project together, when a huge thunderstorm hit the town. They realized that they had been at the library longer than they had meant to, and they hurried to get home. But it was dark; the rain poured down from the heavens in buckets, and the wind lashed at them, as if determined to sweep them along its currents. They were soon lost, unable to see anything but each other, and only then barely even though they were merely a foot from each other.

Pterra decided to try and fly up in the storm to see if he could possibly see any landmark or a shelter for the two of them. He rose up in the air unsteadily, not used to flying in rain. But even from his vantage point in the air, he couldn’t see anything, and worse; he had lost sight of Deino! He began to lower himself towards the ground when the world was suddenly alit with fire; fire everywhere! It was burning hot; he was burning! He smelled the tang of burnt skin in the air and then he heard a loud boom. He had been hit by a bolt of lightning! He fell through the sky, already lost to the black of unconsciousness.

When he awoke in a healing center, he felt that he would rather be dead, as his nerves sparked with so much pain that he couldn’t even open his eyes without feeling pain. It took him a month until he could move his body without feeling pain, and he knew that he had almost died many times. He felt that he would have rather been dead, as his father regretfully informed him that they had never found Deino. Pterra was blinded by pain that was both mental and physical. His best friend, his only friend; the only one who had ever understood him… was gone; taken from him by a cruel world. He left the healing center as soon as he possibly could. He told his father that he couldn’t bear to go back home, and then left.

He flew until he could fly no more, and collapsed in an empty cave, a cry of rage and loss ripping from his throat. He collapsed, and when he woke again, he knew that he was alone in the world. He completely lost control of himself. He was manic, completely destroying everything he could reach; several trees outside the cave were lost in the chaos. He ripped out rocks from the cave, destroying them with his physical strength and burning through them with his Dragon Breath. He ripped his claws to bloody stubs, and when he finally collapsed from exhaustion, he had dug a tunnel through solid rock.

When he awoke again, he decided that he would never let anyone get close to him again; that he would never allow himself to be destroyed like that in such a way again. He closed off his heart completely and vowed to never allow another pokemon to touch it again. He examined the wreckage of his rage-filled fit, and found, at the end of the tunnel he had dug, a glittering heart scale. He picked it up, eyes icy as he tied a string around it and put it around his neck, so that he would always remember why he would not let emotions get in his way again.

He decided that since the world had forsaken him, that he would forsake the world right back. Since all pokemon but his beloved Deino had decided he was a bad pokemon, a pokemon worthy of mockery and insults; he would screw those pokemon right back. He would show them that he was a pokemon to envy, and he would hurt other pokemon, like he had been hurt; because that would make the pain go away.

He has moved into the Grassveil Area, hiding out in a high cave on Black Mist Mountain. He plans to plunder the area dry before moving on, and he hopes to steal much gold and many useful items for his own desires.

» Other:
