PostSubject: The Second Expedition Attempt   Sun Jan 04, 2015 8:14 am

First topic message reminder :

Missions:

Jet glanced down at the papers in his paws that he had taken from the Grassveil Guild's bulletin boards. He had been out here on a mission before from the guild but it had ended in a failure. However, this was one Buizel who was determined not to let this one defeat get the better of him. This time, however, Jet had decided to be a little bit more bold. His new mission as to rescue an Egg that had been stolen from a Beautifly. This one was an Outlaw mission, and it was one that he knew that he needed to start doing to try to toughen himself up. Perhaps, he figured, a more drastic situation could spark the strength he needed, rather than sticking with a safer escort mission. His other mission was all-too-familiar, however. It was to rescue a Meowth's "beloved." A side note had been placed on the latter mission's note saying that this "beloved" was actually a bag of money that needed to be returned. He recognized this mission as the very same one that he had failed previously, and this was his chance to try again.

The awkwardness of the second mission aside, Jet knew that these would probably be the perfect missions to take for now. Not only was he slightly familiar with the contents of the Pecha Forest, due to a previous excursion into these woods once before, but it was a very straight-forward mission with very little that would interfere with him, as far as he was aware. Sure, the layout of the woods was sure to change due to its nature as a Mystery Dungeon, but that didn't concern him. He was always good at mapping terrain in his head anyway.

The only thing that worried him was this gang of Pokémon that had supposedly taken the Meowth's bag. Hopefully, he would not have to deal with them directly...but was he actually that lucky...?

In any case, he made his way between the trees, finally entering the Pecha Forest, and started hunting for his mission's objectives. He was slightly nervous to be heading off on a mission by himself...but he wanted to get stronger for when Team Mizuchi took on their first mission together as a full team.

Just as Aaron suspected, this Pokemon called out his bluff. And to make matters worse, he even gave the Deino a test. Either he kills him, or Jet get "Taken out." Whatever it meant, it can't be good. Aaron sighed, rubbing his forehead with his paws. At this point, he too far into this threat to back out now, but he can't just kill him! And if he didn't kill him, Jet was going to suffer! What was he supposed to do here? Threats weren't good enough anymore... Wait, HE GOT IT. No one is dying today. Aaron stopped rubbing his face, showing Aaron's face. He was smirking darkly, heck he couldn't contain his laughter and ended up in a laughing fit! "HEHEHHAHAHA! I Wonder when you were gonna make things interesting! Ohhhh, I'm going to enjoy this. My little friend is lucky today, He's about to learn a vital lesson about kill or be killed!"

Aaron dashed towards the leader, his teeth barred with electricity. If the Sableye wasn't truly expecting this, he already had the upper hand. He isn't going to die, but he IS going to la la land.

The Sableye watched Aaron's expression carefully. He seemed to take his offer well enough, judging solely by his face. Although without visible eyes, an expression was much more difficult to read anyway. Although, when Aaron began rubbing his forehead with his paws, he couldn't help but smirk slightly. He must have been correct after all. Had this Deino been so willing to kill, he wouldn't even have to think about it so much. This Deino's bluff had been called...and now he was going to have no choice but to admit it if he didn't want the Buizel to get hurt. And once he did that, his gang would have their fears eased and this would become a very one-sided fight anyway. Or at least, that's what he did think until Aaron lowered his paw and revealed that dark smirk.

The large Sableye was taken aback by the Deino's laughter, shocked that the Dragon Pokémon was actually going to go through with this. He hesitated, hardly believing his own ears. This guy couldn't actually be serious, could he? Well a moment later, he got his answer. The Deino rushed forward, aiming to chomp down on his body with a Thunder Fang attack. Kageru had been taken completely by surprise, and the electric attack met its mark. "GRAH!" he growled in pain, Flinching from the bite. Darn it...he was going to have to really pay attention from here on. He turned his gaze toward one of the other gang members. "You! Take care of the Buizel. I don't care what you do, just make him suffer while I deal with this runt!" He figured that any of his subordinates would do. After all, the Buizel was a much less threatening target.

Jet's eyes widened somewhat fearfully when Aaron actually started to go into a laughing fit. He knew it was fake. It had to be, right? He honestly wasn't sure what to think anymore. "K-kill or...be...?" he murmured, turning slightly pale at the idea. How had everything come to this!? He then shook his head. N-now wasn't the time to be scared of his own ally. He had to fend for himself for now...at least until Aaron was able to defeat this Kageru!

The bite connected, electrocuting the Dark type. That was good, but Aaron had to be quick now. His action has gotten Jet into danger, and considering how afraid he is right now, he had no choice but to place his bet on a high risk, high reward situation. Aaron will go all out, ignoring any attacks this Dark type does. However, that also means that he'll be to beat up to look intimidating. If Aaron bet fails, Both Jet and himself will be in serious danger. He didn't like it, but he had no choice. Aaron tightens his grip on his bite, refusing to let go by any means and continued to shock this Pokemon with max power. "Alright, it comes down to this. Either you faint, or I do. Lets see who can endure the longest." While this was happening, his mind shifted briefly to Jet. Poor guy, he probably terrified about the whole thing. The Deino had a lot of explaining to do.

One of the Sableye was concern with his boss. This Pokemon was nuts! What would happen if that Deino kills him? No... their boss had told them to do something, and they were gonna do it. "You heard him, Lets get him!" They all rushed in towards jet, their claw glowed a dark aura. However, something about their movement was off. Like, they were somewhat hesitating.

The Sableye winced slightly as he felt Aaron's teeth sink into him even harder. The electricity coursing through the Deino's jaws only grew harsher as well, causing him even more pain than before. This wasn't good...if he couldn't get Aaron to release his grip, then the Deino would be able to maintain a constant stream of damage...although it wasn't quite as strong as the initial bite. "You want to play that game, kid?" he growled at Aaron right back. "Fine, but let's not forget that I'm the one with the advantage here." As he said that, he decided to demonstrate what he meant. He lifted his arm high into the air, which then started glowing for a moment. A moment later, he brought it down powerfully like a hammer. His arm would smash into the center of Aaron's back, if the Deino did not release his grip to avoid the attack. And of course, the Brick Break would undoubtedly cause some good damage, too, since it was super-effective against the Dark-type Deino.

Jet's eyes widened slightly when one of the Sableye called out to the others. Uh oh...it was starting! Jet's eyes widened momentarily with fear as he tried to calm his mind and think. He had to recall what Aaron had told him he should do before...! Although the sudden pressure of such a dangerous situation was causing him to panic and he was having a tough time thinking clearly. However, Jet couldn't help but notice something...the Sableye were actually slightly hesitant. What...what was with them? Well, hopefully that would make them easier to evade. He leaped backwards, trying to get away from the closest one, but ended up jumping right at another. "Ack...!" he cried out, swinging hi tail out of pure self-preservation instinct. His tail would try to slam itself into that Sableye's legs and knock him over before he could slash at him. Of course, there were still the others to deal with....

Aaron held onto the Sable with dear life, making sure that this outlaw gets shocked into unconsciousness. Even when the dark type raised its arm, Aaron continued to hold on. He had to out endure him, it was the only way for him and Jet to make it out alive. After a few suspenseful seconds, he brought down his arm, striking Aaron's backside. The Deino almost lost its grip to cry out in absolute agony. That hurt! It was as if that outlaw completely broken his back! No, it must of been a dead back, or however you call it. Regardless, Aaron quickly regains his grip and held on. He wasn't going to lose here. Not now, not ever.

Once jet tried to dodge out of the way and into the clutches of another Sableye, he tried to strike the little guy. But... he couldn't bring himself to do it. It was nuts! All they did was steal. That's all they did! They didn't wanted to die, nor did they want to resort to something like this. They may be outlaws, but this was going too far! "Kid... Lis-" Before he could utter another word, the water type's tail swept under the dark type's legs, causing him to trip and fall onto his back. The other Dark type was closing in on the water type, ready to stick their claws into him. "Wait!" the fallen Sableye cried out. This... Isn't what we signed up for! We're Outlaws, not Murderers!" The other Sabeye stop their action, murmuring to each other, considering what the fallen one said. The fallen one, then look over to Aaron. "Kid, please. Just stop what you're doing and answer me this. Were you faking it? If you are, just stop. This has gone long enough."

Upon hearing the Dark type's word, all electricity stopped. He lets go of his boss and look down shamefully. "I... was just trying to intimidate you guys. I wasn't trying to do anything about what I said."

The large Sableye glared as Aaron held onto him, despite the Brick Break that had been slammed powerfully into his back. The electricity continued to surge through his body, though, inflicting constant pain. He visibly flinched for a moment, trying to desperately avoid all of the electricity pouring in through his arm. However, it was growing increasingly more difficult to do so. But he could tell that the Deino had been just about to let go after just one attack. As such, there was no way he could take more. This fight was as good as his! He grinned maliciously, spurred on by the feeling of the Deino's teeth slacken their grip, even momentarily before regaining it. He raised his arm, which began to glow once more as he prepared yet another powerful Brick Break. Surely even this Deino would have to succumb to something like this!

...But the voice of one of his own companions stopped him, and his arm hung in the air for now.

Jet, who had just managed to knock the first of three Sableye down quickly turned his attention to the others. However, his eyes widened when he saw claws coming for him. He opened his mouth to let out a cry of surprise and anticipated pain, flinching as the menacing claws threatened to dig into his body. But then there was a cry from the Sableye he'd knocked down, causing every single one of them to stop, the Buizel included. He looked down at the Sableye in surprise. And shockingly enough, all of the others followed his lead, murmuring to one another. And soon, all of their attention were back on Aaron and the larger Sableye leader.

When Aaron was finished speaking, Jet looked sadly at his companion. He seemed really ashamed of himself for his behavior. He suddenly felt a bit of guilt creep up in fearing his companion at all.

When Aaron released his arm, the Sableye boss was tempted to slam a Brick Break into him regardless. But he still hesitated. He watched the Deino look down, finally admitting to his intimidation tactics. "...Heh," he scoffed. "I knew it. You don't have what it takes after all." He then smirked slightly, looking back over at the Sableye. "Fine then, you heard him. None of us are in danger, so I don't think you need to run the runt through either." He then glared down at the Deino. "As for you." He then moved his right arm so that it was horizontally crossed across his chest. "We may not be ready to kill each other, but I didn't say that the deal was off." The arm then began to glow again and he whipped his arm back to the right, trying to bash his Brick Break into the side of Aaron's head. "You beat me before my minions knock out your little buddy, and we will surrender to you. Fail, and we'll take everything you own and kick you out. I'm not about to give up our treasure just because you got found out."

He expected his allies to get the picture as well. Regardless of the intent to kill or not, these two were still here to steal back what they had stolen. And they, as bandits still had to do what they could to keep their haul.

Aaron shook his head in guilt. He was so caught up with the whole fighting thing, he completely forgotten about his duty as an explorer. However, even if he was found out, he can't just sit there and let them hurt Jet. The Deino nodded at what the leader said, spreading his legs to get into his battle position. "Right... I'm ready." Aaron muttered. He knew he couldn't win now. That brick brake attack will surely end him the moment it collides with his body. Unless he was some sort of speedy Pokemon, he has no hope. The Sableye raised its arm and then whip it at the side of Aaron's head. Aaron flinched, waiting for the darkness that was unconsciousness.

...Yet nothing happened. "Boss, It's over." The Sableye said as he grabbed his Boss's arm before he could use the Brick Break attack. "Do you Honestly believe that the guild, or even the police would let us get away with this that easily? This is one million Poke we're talking here! Even with we do beat this kid to unconsciousness, we can't outrun them forever." Aaron was rather shocked about the whole thing. An outlaw, helping him? Helping jet? Obviously this Sableye wasn't doing this from the goodness of his heart... was he? And what this about One Million Poke? He thought that Some Pokemon was kidnapped? "Lucien, we work hard getting that! Now we have to leave it to those runts?" One of the Sableye called out. Lucien sighed. "If we want to get rid of the heat, yes. Unless you like to get captured and spend the rest of your days in prison."

The Deino could hear murmuring around the area. They were considering their options and, he was right. Even if they do escape, that's a lot of Poke to not look the other way. "What do you want to do boss? He isn't exactly wrong."

Jet's eyes widened when Kageru lifted his arm, about to slam it as powerfully as he could into Aaron's head and end the fight then and there. "A-Aaron...!" he cried out, taking an instinctive step forward to help. But before he could do anything, the Sableye had moved first.

This fight was over. The Sableye brought his arm around, attempting to smash it powerfully into the Deino's head. Victory was theirs and they would get to keep their treasure. But when he brought his arm down...something stopped him. One of the Sableye had stepped up to him and reached for him, grabbing hold of his arm to stop his attack from completing itself. "What are you!?" he growled angrily at first, but stopped when the Sableye started talking. He continued glaring at this smaller Sableye, Lucien, his own subordinate. Who did this idiot think he was, talking to him like this? He was the boss of this gang, not him! He should teach this Sableye a lesson he won't soon forget about questioning his orders.

...But then the other Sableye spoke up, even as he was considering how to punish Lucien. He stopped and looked at the others. They all shared a similar feeling...but they were all asking him for what they should do. They all had an idea of what they wanted, but they knew good and well that he was the boss. Of course, he knew that they all had a very solid point. Even if this team failed, they would simply continue to send more...and the rank of their mission would probably rise, causing stronger Guild members to come each time. Eventually, they would probably be outmatched and arrested. He looked over at his gang again, scowling slightly as he thought about it.

Jet looked around at the gang of Sableye, all standing around and murmuring to one another before looking at their boss. Were they really going to leave the decision in the boss' hands? If so, he'd have to admit how incredible that was. That was some real loyalty....

"...Hmph," Kageru muttered at last, yanking his arm free of Lucien's grip. "You are all little runts, you know that? Scared of the Guild and scared of the police. Why would we have even attacked in the first place if we were just going to give in to the pressure later? After everything we've strived for so far, you are willing to give it up so easily? Without so much as a fight?" He glared across at the gang, glancing at Lucien in particular. "But...I guess it can't be helped. You're all still grunts, after all. Without me, you would be nothing." After a moment of heavy silence, he let out a frustrated sigh. "I'm sure you all now that I don't fear the Guild, and I don't care about the police. But...should any of you be caught and sent away, none of you would last. I suppose I have a duty to fulfill to at least make you strong enough to stand on your own two feet before running that risk."

Kageru then turned to the Deino, though clearly rather reluctant to speak. "This has nothing to do with you, or your terrible attempts at bluffing. You meant nothing to me and I would have finished you off had Lucien not stopped me. Remember that. But...." He then turned back to Lucien. "Go get the bag."

Lucien flinched when Kageru ripped his hand away. He knew he probably going to get punished for questioning his orders, but he was thinking about the gang. That little stunt from that Deino made everyone scared. His boss might even been scared too, though he might not want to admit it. All and all, he was impressed. Not all Rookie explorers can do something like that... Though that's something that the Deino might need to shake a habbit out of. Intimation isn't all fun and games. Today was evident. Kageru sighed, scolding his team for their cowardice, but ultimately agreed to give the runts the bag. With a nod, Lucien walked behind a tree. One he came out, he held a large bag full of cash. All one million of it. He soon went over to Aaron and placed the bag next to him.

"Wait... I thought..." "We "Kidnapped" His beloved? Trust me kid, we may steal a lot of things, but we can't exactly be greedy. Otherwise stuff like this happens." Wait, greed? One million pokes? "All this trouble... For One million pokes?" Aaron scoff in disbelief. Yes, one million Poke is a lot of money, but did this client really had to go as far as to say 'My beloved?' It almost sounds like he had a sad life. Aaron was to speak his mind about this, but his body gave in, forcing him to collapse from the pain. Aaron tried to get up, but Lucian placed his hands on his head before he could do anything.

"Listen kid, you got guts. I can respect that. You just can't go around threatening Pokemons like that, especially outlaws like us. It doesn't always lead to good things. I'm sure your guildy or whatever wouldn't approve of that either, right?" Aaron nodded. After what happened, this was the last time he was going to pull a stunt like that. "Right... What you should do instead is..." The Sableye whispered into the Deino ear, saying that he should resort to persuasion as that can most often then not resolve conflict peacefully. "Come Lucian, you're not getting soft on us, eh?" One of the Sableye called out. Lucian only chucked in responses. "Not gonna happen. Just telling this kid to wise up."

Kageru watched as Lucien went behind the tree and pulled out the sack of coins. He couldn't help but let out a small laugh when the Deino once more claimed that they were supposed to have kidnapped somebody. He had expected as such. That Meowth had been extremely vain about his possessions. "Heh...you know," he murmured, stepping forward again once everybody had finished speaking. "The only reason I targeted that Meowth in the first place was because of his attitude. He was practically in love with his own reflection. And apparently, his own small fortune too. So, we had decided to...liberate it, so to speak." He smirked slightly at the thought. "Hmph...but I guess a gang of my level couldn't get away with it."

Jet remained silent throughout the whole thing. he was even completely avoiding eye contact. With everyone. He saw Aaron collapse, and he wanted to step forward...but that would also put him closer to the Sableye, which was definitely something he didn't want to do. After all, they were bandits, right? Outlaws! He couldn't trust them, after all. for all he knew, they could stab him in the back just as they were about to leave. Of course, if any of them made a threatening move on his companion, he would have no choice...but as it was now, they seemed content enough.

"Hmph," Kageru muttered. "You've clearly all gone soft." he stated, when the Sableye group spoke to Lucian next. "But don't you worry." He then smirked slightly. "'Cause your big boss'll toughen you up in no time. Then you'll have no reason to be afraid of the Guild or cops either." He then looked down at the fallen Deino. "...Hmph. You can rest for as long as you need, kid. As far as we're concerned, we're done with you. Just know that, if you ever see us again, we're still enemies. And next time, don't expect us to let you walk away with all your possessions still on you. And don't you dare say anything about us just handing the bag over. We are bandits, y'know. We've got a reputation to keep."

Lucian and the gang nodded, yelling out "Aye, Boss!" When Kageru spoke to Aaron, he couldn't help but smile. "Right, right... In that case, I won't be using intimation tactics anymore. Should of learned that lesson by now. Until we meet again." What that Lucian told him... It was interesting to say the least. Persuasion... So he had to be a smooth talker? How was he supposed to do something like that? Aaron isn't exactly the most charismatic Pokemon in the world. Though he suppose he could learn this skill. He wasn't in a real hurry to learn it, but anything is better than what he pulled. Speaking of which... "Hey jet..." Aaron called out in a more somber tone. "What happened today... Listen, I know you're probably afraid of me right now, even if you knew I was faking it. I just did what I did to protect us... I still got lots to learn... Heheh"

Even so, he was still capable of teaching Jet how to fight if he so desire.

Kageru nodded back to Aaron, giving him one last look up and down. "Hmph...like I care," he muttered. "If we do run into each other again, it wouldn't work anyway." He then turned away from the Deino at last and looked out at his gang. "Very well. Let's move out. If we stay here for much longer, the police might come looking for us next." With that, he began to take his first step, in the opposite direction from Aaron and Jet. Casting a quick glance behind him to make sure that his gang was following, he made a leap upwards, claws scratching into the bark of a branch before pulling back up and landing neatly on top of it. He then began to leap between trees, landing nimbly on each one before proceeding to the next.

Jet jumped slightly when Aaron called out his name. He even took a step away, gazing fearfully at the Deino for a moment. However, he quickly told himself that the Deino was not going to hurt him, and he calmed himself slightly. Still, his breathing was heavy and he had a lingering feeling of anxiousness and nervousness. "U-um...n-no, y-you don't have to apologize..." he said, though his stammering would easily betray his feelings. "I-I understand. B-but, um...y-you're...you're not going to, erm...d-do that ever again...a-are you...?"

The rest of the gang followed suit, one by one they all climbed up the tree with their claws until Lucian was left. He looked over the two Pokemon and smiled slyly. "Listen guys, I'm going to make this quick before my boss catch winds. We all make mistakes. Even us bandits. That doesn't necessarily make you or anyone else bad Pokemons. We just need to learn from them before it's too late." The Sableye made a quick salute to the explorers before preparing to climb the tree. Once he started to scale up the tree, he made a quick glance at the Deino. "You have a good career. Don't waste it on something stupid as making threats." After he said his piece, he quickly climbs to the top and leaped from branch to branch to catch up with his group.

Aaron thought about what Lucian and Jet said. They were right. If he keeps heading the road he was in now, he isn't going to be much successful in life. "No, I'm not." Aaron smiled somberly. He achingly got to his feet, limping towards Jet in a most friendly manner possible. The moment he reach the Buizel, he wrapped his head around his body. "Sorry... I... I screwed it up... Just like last time..." He wasn't crying or anything, he's just very disappointed with himself.

Jet let out an audible sigh of relief when Aaron confirmed that he wouldn't be making those kinds of threats again. Those had truly terrified him to the core, and he was glad that he wouldn't ever have to see them again from this particular ally. Although, that did leave a lingering doubt in his mind that was only growing larger the more he thought about it: What if his life was on the line? Could he really still fight, even for friends or teammates, if he was being threatened? Aaron had had him trembling...and he already knew that the Deino had merely been bluffing. Not to mention the fact that they had been on the same side. So, then, what if somebody started making similar threats at him directly? Would he just completely shut down and be incapable of doing anything?

The thought caused his tail to droop slightly. Maybe this really wasn't his line of business. But he knew one thing for sure. His companion, Aaron, was going through something rather serious right now. The Deino needed his attention now. He shouldn't be wasting so much time in his own self-pity yet. He could wait until they got back to town and separated. When he turned his attention back to Aaron, the sight startled him for a moment. The Deino was approaching and getting awfully close. When the Deino drew within head's reach, he flinched and froze in place, instinctively, in fear. But after a moment, he felt Aaron's head wrap around his body. Was he...hugging him?

After a moment of silence following Aaron's words, Jet actually found himself relaxing into the Deino's grip. The gesture was soft. He could tell that Aaron's words were from his heart. In fact, the Buizel quickly reached his own arms outward, wrapping them around the Deino's body, completing the hug. "N-no...no, it's fine...." Jet replied. "W-we got out of that, d-didn't we...? S-so...I-it's okay that...m-maybe you messed up a little. S-sure, m-maybe you were a bit scary. B-but you made it work. I-I don't know what happened 'last time' b-but...I'm okay. S-so...so don't...don't worry about it, o-okay...?"

Aaron let the Buizel complete the hug, sighing sadly. His own words to console the Deino was rather nice, but it didn't change the fact that he almost gotten themselves into a worse position. In the end, they still managed to get the job done. That's all it mattered, right? "Ok..." Aaron muttered as he lets go of the hug. "Well, if that's all of your missions, don't let me keep you. I just need to do something before I get back to the guild." The Deino smiled gloomily at the Deino, raising his forelegs to give Jet a handshake. "You have a lot of potential in combat. As long as you doubt yourself, however. You'll never succeed, no matter how many training you put in. So promise me that you won't doubt yourself anymore. I'll help you get stronger."

Aaron looks forward to helping this Pokemon out. He seems to be really sincere about his desire to be stronger. He just needs to pound the doubt the water type have into the ground. That might take a while, but like a quote he remembers. "It will hurt, may it be truth, or training. Accept that agony, and soon all that pain will be all worth it." Is that how it went? It didn't matter, he knew what he meant.
