First topic message reminder :

While Sosio and her bug-type companion were exploring Pricklemist, they had accidentally discovered this amazing new place, and all because Sosio fell into a pit trap. The discovery of the amazing Perfect Apples brought them back to town to share the news, but when they described the dungeon, everyone looked confused. That's when they found out it was an undiscovered dungeon, and not only that, but there was TREASURE within.

The two odd friends now returned in search of a new adventure and discoveries. Sosio was filled with pure enthusiasm. Not only was she the one who discovered it, but it was the ideal setting for a bird like herself to love. She might even consider making it her home, but for now, they had to focus on finding clues and battling their fights, and who knows what could lie ahead.

Sosio nodded happily. She normally chose the direction that seemed most appealing and the safest. If all else failed, she'd go the westernmost route. She pressed her head against the ground, and listened to the movement on the earth. This helped with a lot, a skill once used by her ancestors to locate prey, but now it could be used for so much more.

The route that seemed the safest was the direction they were going, then off some other direction away from the Pokemon. This was safest, and a direct way to get somewhere else, where it didn't really matter so long as they got away from the Pokemon they beat up and left. Even so, they'd most likely find more whichever way they went.

Seeing the Fletchling in this rather strange postion made the Gengar worry.
"Uh, is something wrong? Did you fall or something? I'm sorry, I can't quite judge what it is you are trying to do there."
The mannerisms of other Pokémon had always been strange to William. With a time away from civilisation as long as he had been and a rather uncommon typing as well it was only natural for him to have trouble picking up on the sense and meaning of a variety of different behaviours.
Hopefully this was just some thing Fletchling did because it definitely didn't look comfortable or natural to William. His worries about this were soon replaced by other worries however.

Sosio shook her head and stood up straight.

"Nah, I'm listening to the ground. It allows me to hear movement around the dungeon as far as I can hear."

Suddenly, she twitched, and jutted her head back next to the ground, her pupils darting back and forth as she listened. It sounded much like some'mon dropped an item, and it howled sadly in reaction. In addition to that, the clicking of claws on rock and crunching of leaves nearby, and getting louder. Something was coming.

"Listening to the...ground?", the Gengar repeated surprised.
"And what are you expecting to hear? The grass growing or something? Because "as far as you can hear" doesn't appear to be very far if your head is on the ground like that."
A howl pierced the forest, making William cringe in surprise for a second.
"And if you are referring to the source of that noise, then you definitely do not need to do that to hear it."
And indeed just as expected the duo was once more beset by a group of ill-intentioned feral Pokémon, determined to defeat them for some reason. Would they ever learn that they stood little chance against seasoned explorers?
"Well, I guess we'll have to postpone this discussion. Time for some action."

Sosio didn't answer his questions, and continued staring at where she suspected the Pokemon would show up. Sure enough, another Phantump and a small bear showed up before them, one of them holding an item. Sosio crouched, showing that she meant battle if that's what were to occur by the feral Pokemon.

Seeing the wild ghost charging up an attack, the Fletchling ran forth on it, preparing yet another peck, when suddenly rustling from above sounded. Before Sosio knew what hit her, a Silcoon fell out of the trees and landed on her, keeping her from moving with a string that wrapped around her.

Now this was unfortunate. It seemed that the Fletchling had taken quite the hit from the falling Silcoon. Hopefully Sosio still was all right. Now obviously the best course of action would begin with removing the Bug type from his partner.
And thus William moved closer to the two entangled Pokémon, readying a Shadow Ball to strike the Pokémon occupied with keeping the Fletchling in check. Thanks to the Flying type's Normal typing the attack should only do damage against the feral Pokémon, leaving Sosio unharmed.
Just how many Cascoon and Silcoon were there in this area anyway? Had they run into a Wurmple colony that had just now simultaneously gone through evolution all at once?

As the Gengar began charging up an attack, fear filled in Sosio's eyes, thinking, Is he crazy?. Fortunately, she had an immunity to ghost type attacks, which she forgot about. Now that the cocoon was off her chest, literally, the Fletchling ripped out of the String Shot she was caught in.

Before she could even think, the Phantump used Astonish on her. It didn't do anything, but this gave away the fact that she was a little slower. Thanks to the new move she learned just now, she couldn't use Agility anymore. Awesome timing...

William meanwhile found himself pleasantly surprised by the Phantump's aparent lack of knowledge about type interactions. Had it decided to attack William instead the whole situation would have been quite a bit worse most likely. Determined not to let the Grass type enough time to realize its mistake, the Gengar charged up another sphere of Shadow, aiming it at the Phantump this time.
Hopefully Serena would find herself capable of doing battle soon again as keeping three feral Pokémon at bay could be rather tiresome for one single Pokémon, no matter how much experience they had.
Speaking of experience - was there a reason they had only ever run into specific evolutionary stages of Pokémon? It would make more sense to find all the stages of a Pokémon's evolutionary line in one area now, wouldn't it?

Sosio, outraged, even though it did noting, lengthened her beak and slammed into the Phantump, finishing it off after William had already Shadow Ball'd it. Fortunately, that made things easier now that it narrowed who to attack, with interrupting other Pokemon out of the way.

The Fletchling could easily take out either one, but if she went after the bear, she wouldn't have to worry about an ambush. Besides, if the Gengar faced the little bear, a lot of his attacks would do nothing on the normal-type. It was odd, actually, how normal attacks didn't affect ghosts, and ghost attacks didn't affect normal-types. It was as if each world was oblivious to the other, if it had secret meaning.

William on the other hand did not concern himself with such things. It was true - his Ghost type attacks were incapable of harming those of the Normal type, but he had made preparations just for this case. Summoning forth his positive emotions, his focus and calm instead of hatred, pain and anger, the Gengar launched the Fighting type attack Focus Blast at the Teddiursa. Hopefully the attack would connect seeing as how William was not too familiar with the Fighting type and the attack in itself didn't have the highest of accuracies either.

Just before Sosio would've attacked, she was surprised to see that William knew one with a super-effective hit. Smiling now that the target would be much easier, Sosio finished him off with a Tackle, relieved to finally be able to use a move other than Peck.

Now this only left the Silcoon, who was surrounded by silky strings all over the ground from all its missed shots. It must've been trying to hit the partnering Pokemon this entire time it was planted in one place, watching the two beat up the feral bear. Now that it was one, it would be easy pickings, especially with William's ability to put Pokemon to sleep, and Sosio's super-effective Peck.

Seeing how all mobile opponents had been felled, William turned his attention to the Fletchling, speaking: "So, guess we can just leave this one be. I doubt it's going to follow us around much, wouldn't you agree? Wasting energy on it seems to be a bit counterproductive.".
Indeed the foe was barely able to move at all. A slow stroll would be enough to get away from it. William shuddered at the thought of having as little mobility as the Bug type in front of them had. He had always been glad for his high mobility and would rather not lose it for almost anything he could imagine.

Sosio listened at looked back to the cocoon, spewing string in all directions. She turned and continued walking to where they were going before the battle started. Even though it was cruel to beat up Pokemon in their own home, Sosio felt like it would hate them for leaving it. As if all the Cascoon and Silcoon would seek revenge and attack the two all at once, like a bug horror story.

Ahead, Sosio could see a small clearing that was located right on top of a strange indent in the ground, as if some'mon stomped the ground into a smooth curve, well enough to hold the smallest pond in existence. Just one rain, and it would be a cute little body of water. It appeared that the trees couldn't grow on the mini-hillsides of the puny valley, which explained the clearing.

As the duo kept on walking they had stumbled upon a strange indentation in the ground, which had caused something akin to a lake to form in it. It was an intriguing sight for sure and a welcome distraction from the admittedly rather dull forest, but yet something about it made William feel uneasy.
"Now this is an interesting phenomenon. But if this is someone's or something's footstep then I'd rather not encounter who- or whatever it was that caused this. Thus I suggest we keep on going. There doesn't seem to be anything of interest in this area as far as I can see."
Did Pokémon this huge exist even? William had heard stories, but never had he seen any actual evidence for Pokémon of this size to exist. Still, he didn't want to take any chances.

Sosio hopped inside the large ditch, crunching the leaves that sat inside it, just as all the rest of the dungeon. She danced about happily, looking up at the sky where some sun leaked in. She shuffled goofily about, giggling like a child. Her laugh was deep and goofy for a female bird with a light voice, and impossible to explain. It was one of those laughs that induced the laughter of others, because it was so funny. Sosio loved bringing joy, just as her Joy Ribbon brought to her.
