The Silver Veil

A golden magikarp approached the tower and poked his head out of the water to look at the entrance. The door was huge. The tower was huge. Everything, was huge. It was larger than him in comparison. He swallowed. Luckily he had friends to come and help him. A Omanyte that desired to "save" this world, and a Milotic that was friendly and dreamed of treasure. Proteus looked at the entrance, this was going to be a tough and long trip.

The magikarp of gold remained silent, that was until he seemed to swim into some kind of strange wire.
"Huh?" he spoke, before the wire snapped from his force. Below him a trap door opened up, and water began to drain into it. The Magikarp yelled as he was sucked into the trap door and forced down a long and narrow tunnel leading down. It was a pit-fall trap, and it was taking him down floor after floor after floor. The fish pokemon was too weak to fight against the currents, but a certain milotic and Omanyte could easily fight the currents and follow him down.

Serenne had been about to reply to the Omanyte when she had heard the snapping sound of the wire and had promptly turned her attention back to Proteus - just in time to see the golden Magikarp being whisked away down the long and narrow tunnel activated by the pitfall trap.
"Proteus!" she called out, quickly turning tail and following the golden speck that was Proteus being forced down through the submerged tower by the powerful currents. The lithe, serpentine form Serenne had as a Milotic only made it easier to fit through the narrow pitfall tunnel as she swam after the Magikarp.

Easily able to hold on to the ground, Revira was not really affected by the trap.
Happily she moved closer to what she believed to be a  waterslide and swam right in.
"Whee! This is fun! I wonder where we are going."
Her not very slender body made it rather difficult for the Omanyte to follow the others, often bumping into the walls of the tunnel. After a while Revira was certain, that the constant bumps had given her a concussion even with her shell protecting her.
"Urgh...they should really make this thing less...bumpy..", she groaned.

The currents were strong as the golden carp was drained into a larger room, a massively larger room. The fish was spit out into the room, and released from the currents into still water. The fish blinked, having expected a much worse fate to fall before him, "huh?" he spoke, looking out into the room. Its walls seemed to stretch for miles, at least thats what it seemed like to the fish, but in reality the walls stretched into darkness. The veil was still with him, and was still emitting a light, but the light of the veil could not fill the chasm of darkness that filled the void of this room.

Soon enough, Serenne found herself reaching the calmer waters at the end of the trap's long tunnel. Moving out of the way of the hole to give Revira room to exit it, the Milotic swam over to Proteus, who held the only light in this dark room.
Glancing around, she wondered if this was as far as they could go. The upper tunnels had definitely been at least a little lit, rather than the pitch black that was this room.
"Where are we?" she asked the golden Magikarp, though the question was more rhetorical as she doubted he knew where they were either.

Finally the slide had ended for the Omanyte, who wasn't really thinking straight anymore when she fell into the calmer waters below. Her skin had taken on an alarming shade of green by now and her eyes had trouble to stay affixed on one thing.
"I...I...urgh...what...what was that? Can...can we go home now? I need to iron my plants..."
Now this definitely hadn't been, what the Water type had been expecting. What had the Pokémon, who had built this tower been thinking? Someone could have gotten hurt there!
Then again...maybe the Pokémon back then looked differently. It was possible, that such a contraption wouldn't raise any concerns for safety with them as their body type would have no problem with passing through such a narrow tunnel.

The fish stared into the empty and dark void, "I....I don't know..." the magikarp spoke. He flailed his fins as he slowly propelled himself forward, a bit nervous about this entire thing. The veil released a faint pulse before following Proteus, and once it caught up to him, it unleashed a bigger pulse of light. Proteus's eyes widened as he saw what the darkness contained.
Monsters, monsters of all kinds. Ferals, pokemon that lived down here, and were not happy to see the invaders in their countless years worth without disturbance. The pokemon all glared at the trio, and Proteus could only sit and stare at the mass amount of pokemon.

This dice is not existing.

Serenne's eyes were drawn to the silver veil as the faint glow that was akin to moonlight on a clear night appeared to pulse before following Proteus as he swam, emitting an even brighter pulse upon reaching him again. The pulse of light illuminated the general area, revealing something that Serenne couldn't help but wish had stayed unknown. Forty-two faces glared at them from within the darkness, the huge group of Pokemon clearly not enjoying their new company at all. Serenne fell completely silent, her eyes scanning the crowd of Pokemon as she considered what on earth she should... or even could do in this situation.

Seeing the horde of Pokémon, Revira's mood brightened instantly.
Finally someone to talk to!
And...were those Pokémon over there Omastar?
Maybe they had found a cure for this plague, that seemed to have affected almost everyone else!
Happily she began to ramble as she had done so many times before.
"Oh, heya, everyone! Great to meet you all here! My name is Revira and those two are my friends!  We've come to find a cure for this evil disease almost everyone seems to suffer from. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?"
So either a group of Omastar had somehow found a way from the Sanctuary to this place, or an identical species had developed in two places at the same time.
But the probability for the latter option would be so tiny, that it would almost be impossible.
So...when she got back, Revira would have to find that passage!

It was a swarm. Chinchou, Mantyke, Relicanth, Omastar, and many other pokemon forcing themselves forward through the water to attack the infiltrators. Proteus was swarmed by the attacking pokemon, attacks coming from all sides as the magikarp was blasted back and forth by water, electric, and even some rock attacks. The crazed pokemon seemed to move to swarm his allies as well.

The golden fish could do nothing but flail, but he was unable to flail for long before he was knocked to the side and merely floated among the mass of pokemon as they seemed to ignore the golden magikarp as he floated on his side, trying to cling to consciousness out of concern for his friends. His body was pained as it bumped into flailing bodies and he was smacked by tails, tentacles, and shells of the ocean pokemon.

Proteus could do nothing, but lay on his side and begin to sink towards the seemingly bottomless abyss. The silver veil pulsated light as it floated close above him, the blue tint making the gold scales reflect and shine. The inability to move made the gears in the Magikarp's mind begin to grind and have him think.

He was the one that brought these adventurers willing to help him down here. The magikarp had more than likely brought them to their doom, it was his fault. 'No...we were supposed to find a treasure-The musical instruments.' he thought as he began to sink farther from his friends. This wasn't what he wanted! He wanted to explore! To become stronger and further his new line of species! He was different, he was unique, special! So why was he failing this quest? Sure he had been beaten by a pokemon before, but that wasn't about something he was serious about. This whole new level of defeat seemed to surprise the magikarp.

The only way for him to lose like this...is if he really wasn't special. He wasn't unique or a new line of species, he was just a normal magikarp with a different color of scales. He was a black sheep, a color of magikarp that usually became killed before they lived long, which was why there was so few of his color. Was that why? Natural Selection just wasn't selecting his color? The magikarp was confused, his mind couldn't comprehend this strange new way of thinking.

The magikarp began to feel strange, his body began to glow and strange bubbles began to swirl around him. From up with the mass of pokemon, a light shined from below that seemed to flash for only half a moment. The light was followed by a bellow, followed by a monstrous beast erupted from the depths. Its red scales were difficult to see without the light of the veil as the veil seemed to sink further and further into the depths of the large room.

A gyarados had arisen from the depths, it was Proteus!

Proteus gave a bellow as he finally began to understand, the evolution having cleared his mind and expanded his ability to think. He wasn't a new line of species, he couldn't fly, but he was also no longer as much of an idiot as he had been when he was a magikarp. The gyarados gave a bellow as he flung himself back into the mass of pokemon, determined to save his friends.

The heroic approach did not work so well as a lanturn seemed to smirk and sent a powerful electric attack in the direction of the Gyarados. Proteus gave a howl, but his howl of pain and surprise at being suddenly massively more weak to electric attacks was drowned out by an even louder roar that seemed to be a sort of tune.

The mass of pokemon froze as they all turned nervously towards the floor of the room. A light shined from deep down that was suddenly cut off and replaced with large, blue, and glowing eyes. The mass of pokemon seemed to screech and flee, wanting to get out of there as fast as possible, away from the bigger monster that mad been awoken.

A massive creature rose from the depths as the veil from earlier rose and lit the room once more to reveal the strange creature to be even bigger than the Gyarados, and to be a large silver bird like creature with wings that looked like they could work as fins too. The beast had blue fin like structures around its eyes along with blue fins trailing along its back and lead to its tail with blue club like spikes.

Proteus had evolved, and Lugia has awoken...
