First topic message reminder :

Spoiler:

The archen of the rescue team flinched when he looked upon the great marshlands before him. It was full of...water. As a rock type the pokemon hated water. He had no ability to float like a duck or a normal bird and he could barely swim. The Archen sighed as he stared at the water, he still had not entered it just yet. He would have to look through all of this liquid to search for the black sludge...how was he going to hold it anyways? It would damage him if he held it...it only healed poison types and damaged others, so why had he accepted the job anyways? He looked at the reward and sighed, "This better be worth it..."

It was true, that William had excellent mobility, but his vision was still affected underwater. This made it quite difficult for him to find the Tympole in the pool of water he had descended into as well. A Smog attack might be able to damage it, but there was the problem of Acro possibly being hurt as well to be considered. For any of his other attacks he couldn't see well enough to ensure the Archen's safety either.
Thus the Ghost type had to resort to hitting the ground in the hope of finding their adversary. It may be ineffective, but at least the Archen wouldn't get hurt.

The Tympole screeched in fear as the gengar neared him. The tympole thrashed its tail in a attempt to swim away, but its panic had hindered it and instead it rose up a foot or so before falling back down. It turned and twisted in the water in attempt to swim, only ending up flailing about. The pokemon hissed and tried to use Bubble Beam.
Acro watched the water move from above, clinging for dear life onto a tree. No way was he going down there! He was sure that William could handle it anyways. If it were Astrid he would probably go down there, but the ghost pokemon could easily escape if he got in trouble.

His vision significantly impaired, the living shadow didn't even see the Bubble Beam coming towards him.
The Water type attack knocked the Gengar straight out of the small pool of water amd on relatively dry land again. There William could see, that Acro wasn't even in the water anymore!
With his only reason for holding back gone, a Shadow Ball was quickly conjured and launched straight into the murky depths the Ghost type had just ascended out of. Since it was more suited for life in water than on land, the Tympole should have a hard time getting out again, so the chances for a hit were rather high, even though William couldn't even see his adversary. And now that he was out of the water, the Archen might do something as well.

Acro squawked like a chatot when something burst from the water and splashed the liquid all over the area. The Archen saw a mixture of bubbles and normal water shoot out and hit a friendly face that was William. Acro watched as the pokemon conjured one of his ghostly attacks and forced the attack into the water. There was a moment when only a few bubbles of air came up, and popped upon reaching the surface. After another few seconds the tympole came leaping out of the water in a frenzy. Acro decided that now would be a good time to attack. He was surrounded in a purple light, as rocks flew up from the water and attacked the pokemon while it was in the air.

As the Water type was launched up into the air, the rocks Acro had summoned crashed directly into it, sending it flying into a nearby larger rock, from which it dropped down onto the ground again.
Even though William had seen Acro fight many times before, it was still surprising, how good he was at it. The Gengar could easily see, that the Archen had improved quite a bit from the time they first met on the Blackmist Mountain. And yet he was still as shy and fearful as always.
The shadow couldn't suppress a small smile at that thought and even though this smile was barely noticeable under the monstrous grin on his face, William still tried to hide it from his friend.

ACro watched as the pokemon fell, knocked out. The archen blinked, he had not expected the attack to have finished the unfortunate tadpole pokemon off. He turned to William to see that his friend seemed to be attempting to hide something, "what is up?" he asked. He hated to seem nosy but his curiosity got the better of him. He adjusted his grip on the tree and slowly made his way back down despite the water that was below. (sorry if my post is short or weird. I am posting from my phone and its difficult to type with thiis and i have no clue how long this is...)

As William heard Acro ask him, his expression immediately changed into the usual devious grin again.
"Uh...nothing, I guess. We should continue searching for the Black Sludge before our enemy here regains its strength...or before others find us. We may be strong, but we shouldn't overestimate ourselves."
With those words the Gengar turned his face back to his friend, the glowing red eyes gleaming with a new spark of motivation.
Seeing Acro having grown stronger made him look back on his own path as well. William had realized, how far he had actually come. Once he was a depressed, bitter wreck alone in the forest. Now he was a powerful Gengar, who was making the world better. Piece by piece and step by step he and his new friends were helping others.
For the first time William was proud of himself.

"Yeah, we should keep going," Acro spoke. He waded through the water, avoiding the deep parts. The Archen was still curious as to just what the gengar was doing, but decided that William just did not want to talk about it. He dropped the subject from his mind and began to scan the water. He was searching for any strange dark spots that might have hinted to where the BlackSludge might have been.

Not knowing, what to answer, William simply continued to move through the murky depths of the marshes, that were reaching as far as the eye could see in front of him.
Somewhere between all this mud and fog a substance was hidden, that looked like mud and felt like mud.
The only good thing about it was, that it probably hadn't been picked up by a Pokémon yet. Not many creatures could even touch the vile substance without risking serious injuries.
Still this wouldn't make it any easier to actually find. They would probably spend aeons searching here...

Acro stopped when he heard something swish in the water once more, "Not again!" the Archen spoke. He had assumed it was another pokemon since William did not seem to disturb the water at all. Acro stopped when he thought that it could have just been him. He was wrong at his doubt though, for something crashed into him similar as to what the tadpole pokemon had done.

Apparently Acro had been wrong as the Pokemon, that crashed into him didn't charge him from the water at all but rather descended from the skies.
It was a Zubat. And more importantly that Zubat was (somehow) carrying a small amount of a dark, mud-like substance, that seemed to almost boil as it was bubbling quite a lot.
Without a doubt this substance was the Black Sludge they had been looking for.
And a Poison type had picked it up. Great.
This battle wouldn't be an easy one.
Even though William and Acro had items to increase their strength as well, they didn't help in the fight itself. Meanwhile the Zubat would be continuously healed.
They would just have to face this challenge...

Acro swallowed, and was about to begin a Ancient Power attack, but the Zubat had screeched strange yellow rings at him. The sound rang in his ears and caused him to become confused. The archen stumbled about in the water, before deciding a smarting thing would be to keep still. He stopped as his vision blurred and the area seemed to be spinning and rocking like a ship. The Archen was useless currently, as he was afraid of hitting William instead of the Zubat.
The Zubat smirked and swerved towards the gengar, screeching at it in attempt to make it confused as well.

Seeing his dear friend confused made William quite angry.
He would destroy that Zubat. Noone would hurt the Gengar's friends. Noone.
Taking a deep breath, the spectral Pokémon focussed the energies of hate, pain and suffering themselves into a blackish orb, which pulsated with an eerie light, that didn't seem to even come close to any known colour. Just as he managed to launch his attack however, a strange sound reached his ears.
The Ghost type had seen and heard many things already, but this noise was new to him. It felt as if it broke something in his very mind.
In his confusion William decided that now would be a great time to go swimming!
After jumping into the water without creating as much as a ripple on its surface, he swam over to the equally confused Archen and tried to hug him while muttering the words:
"I love you, mate...you is one of my bestestest friends in the whole world wide..."

The Archen found a giant shape coming towards him and seemed to be attempting to grab him while uttering some words. The Archen screeched, thinking he was under attack and was coated with a purple aura as rocks were torn from the ground under the water and launched at his attacker.
The Zubat watched, laughing at his chaos that he had caused and at the fact that the Gengar was being so dang ridiculous in this confused state.

"And too I love you do I am..."
Not wanting the Zubat, which obiously was crying, to feel alone, William floated up to the bat and hugged it as well. Tightly. It may not have been intentional, but at least the Gengar was attacking the target for now. In his confusion, William had forgotten all the horrible things, that had happened to him. He wasn't bitter. He didn't know sadness. And even though he might have been reduced to a mumbling idiot on the outside, he was at some kind of complete peace inside. The Ghost type may have been too peaceful to even consider fighting, but he felt...h...a...p...p...y.
