PostSubject: The Marsh of Madness   Fri Jul 12, 2013 1:44 am

First topic message reminder :

The sun was shining above the murky marshes, in which cattails were wildly growing, giving the region its name. The fog was drifting over the tiny pools of water, which were almost completely still, save for the movements of a few Pokémon in them.
Between the marsh's many reeds, another fog seeped into the area.
But this fog was different. It was purple and it seemed to have eyes.
The fog in question was William the Gastly, who had decided to go on a mission to rid these swamps from a Swanna, that was trying to destroy the resident Poison type's habitat.
In a way, they were his brothers. William wasn't allowed to fail.

While Acro was doing his thing, William focussed his negativity into a Shadow Ball, trying to hit the Wooper with it. The small, blue Pokémon tried to counter it by using Mud Slap, but the dirt passed right through the shadowy substance, which hit the Wooper in the face, causing it to fly backwards a few feet into the water. The Shellos however used another Water Pulse, which managed to hit William this time, although the Gastly managed to keep his thoughts together for now.

The foongus was struck by another Pluck Attack as Acro returned to deal with the foongus. The Archen was startled when spores came up from the foongus, and the archen began to feel sick. Acro had no clue that he had been poisoned, he had assumed it was just from the water. He attacked the Foongus once more with another pluck attack, it collapsed to the ground as Acro set up another double team as he moved to help his friend William out. He tried to grab the Shellos's attention, but failed as the pokemon used another water pulse, this time on its ally, the wooper. The wooper absorbed the attack and seemed to be healed!!

Hunger-induced hallucinations joined the Swanna's confusion as it grew weaker and weaker, involuntarily wearing the Diet Ribbon and losing more and more fighting capacity along the way. Meanwhile William had identified the Shellos as the main risk factor and floated up to it, using Hypnosis as the Shellos slowly drifted off to-...
Or rather it didn't. The Water type had resisted the Gastly's attemplt at hypnotizing it and had retaliated with a Water Pulse right into William's face. As the Ghost type recovered however, he managed to successfully use Hypnosis this time, grinning as the snail drifted into the world of dreams...

Acro meanwhile, was too busy getting struck with a water gun to do much else. The archen screeched in rage as he was attacked by even MORE water. His tail glowed a bright white as the Wooper loomed closer in attempt to try and get a good slam attack in, the slam attack was interrupted by Acro's Iron Tail. The wooper flew under the ghastly, skipping the water like a pebble once before sinking into the water with a large splash. The attacker of the Whooper was growing tired though, he felt weak and he felt his ability begin to kick in. What's going on? he thought, STILL not realizing that he was poisoned, the bird brained Archen.

Since William had only seen poisoning by Smog and one by Poison Sting, so he couldn't identify the Archen's condition either, especially since he currently was absorbed in doing battle with the remaining outlaws and Acro wasn't exactly vocal about that condition of his.
Since Wooper seemed to be the best target for the moment, William's negativity was conducted into a Shadow Ball once again, then quickly launched at the blue adversary.
They should  be done soon...

Bird-Brain Acro finally realized that he had been poisoned but only when the wooper resurfaced while shouting, "I will not be beaten by a poisoned rock type!!!" and blasted Acro with a water gun, sending him flying into the swanna. Acro yelped, as he collided with the bird.

The Swanna screeched as the hit had knocked it out of its confusion. However, the Diet Ribbon had already drained a lot of its energy, so it was unable to do anything for the moment.
William had prepared another Shadow Ball for the Wooper but as he was startled by the sudden yelling, it was disrupted a bit and thus wouldn't be as powerful as it should be.
The outlaws were getting weaker and weaker, but Acro himself seemed to be rather tired as well.
And to be honest, William was hurt quite a bit as well.

The wooper was struck by the Shadow ball luckily, the wooper screeched in pain and fell into the water once more, not coming back up this time.
Acro had enough sense to use the time to eat his sole pecha berry that he had found last mission with the ghastly. Acro checked on the Shellos to see that it was still asleep, he turned to William and asked if the ghastly was okay before noticing that the swanna was seemingly immobile with hunger, though it could have been faking.
"That thing is more useful than I thought..." Acro mumbled, surprised.

"It's interesting...how can a bit of fabric drain one's energy that much? Then again, our Joy Ribbons have quite extraordinary powers as well. But I'm not going to complain. As long as it works in our favour, I'm happy."
As all the outlaws had seemingly been defeated, William was already thinking about which book he should be readong once they'd return from their journey. What Acro would be doing after this mission was of interest to the Gastly as well, but he didn't deem it to be worth asking about.

Acro shrugged, "Items can be weird...they have strange effects. I heard that there was a special pair of glasses that let you see through everything as well that can be found just laying around somewhere."
He looked to the Swanna cautiously, it wasn't moving. He wanted to make sure it was KO'd before they left. He picked up a tree branch with his break that had been floating by and moved to touch the pokemon with the stick. The pokemon flailed about before Acro grew close, answering his question. Now for a new one: Would the Swanna give up and flee, or stay and fight until it was most certainly KO'd?

Apparently that Swanna wasn't as defeated as William believed it to be.
Thus, in a combination of making sure, that it would not flee and return later to finish its work and a kind of revenge for destroying his siblings in type's habitat, the Gastly decided to knock it out.
Wanting for the Water type's defeat to be at least a bit ironic, he used his Smog attack to envelop it in a cloud of poisonous fumes.
"So...I guess it's defeated now. That means our job here is done. But really? I've never heard of glasses like those. Why would anyone leave something like that simply lying around?"

"Don't know, maybe the same reason someone left these Joy Ribbons laying around..."
The Archen spoke, looking at the swanna as it was struck with the smog. He felt kind of bad for it, it just wanted to clean this place up. Did it think it was helping though? He looked at the big bird that had fallen and approached it, slipping off the diet ribbon now that it was defeated.
"This could be very useful..." he mumbled as he stuffed it back in his Explorer bag. He had gotten over the water finally, but as soon as he left it and returned to ground he would probably kiss it and never go near this place again unless it was absolutely necessary.

"Well...the options I can think of are the following. Thoase items might be occurring naturally, although I would doubt that, they could all have been lost by travelers, which is even more likely or someone left them there, but I can't think of a reason, why one would want to do so."
Has there ever been science done on the subject of the origin of items? Probably not, but William decided, that he might look for information regarding this topic, should he find the time between explorations.
Maybe one would be able to produce those things oneself even! The profits would be unimaginable!

Acro shrugged, "Well if they occur naturally then it would take a lot of researching to find out just how they get there. If travelers drop them, I don't know really."
The archen had no clue what to think about the items, he was ready to go home with his poke though. The archen looked to the ghastly once more and asked, "Ready to head home?" He adjusted his Explorer Bag to a more comfortable position. It was beginning to grow slightly heavier than usual, maybe it was because of the water soaking into it? Even more reasons to hate water in mass amounts! The archen was tired, miserable, and wanted to go back to the guild. He considered himself lucky that the Ghastly was here to prevent him from just quitting the mission and walking out of here, which he would of instantly regretted.

"Yeah...I assume we should leave this place. We're done here after all. It's a bit of a shame. At night this place gets even more beautiful, when the dancing lights of the Bug types join the stars and shine upon the flowing fog. I often come here to think. It would be an even greater place without all the hostile Pokémon though, of course..."
Of course William knew, that the Archen didn't share his preference for the environment, but still he couldn't keep himself from musing about it. It may be a dangerous place, but it was a beautiful, dangerous place and the Gastly liked being there.
