PostSubject: The Marsh of Madness   Fri Jul 12, 2013 1:44 am

First topic message reminder :

The sun was shining above the murky marshes, in which cattails were wildly growing, giving the region its name. The fog was drifting over the tiny pools of water, which were almost completely still, save for the movements of a few Pokémon in them.
Between the marsh's many reeds, another fog seeped into the area.
But this fog was different. It was purple and it seemed to have eyes.
The fog in question was William the Gastly, who had decided to go on a mission to rid these swamps from a Swanna, that was trying to destroy the resident Poison type's habitat.
In a way, they were his brothers. William wasn't allowed to fail.

The quagsire was struck with the confusing attack, and was confused along with being extremely hungry. It began to swim around in circles and eventually stop because of not being able to move because of hunger. It still flailed about in attempt to attack whatever was attacking it as its health was slowly drained.
Meanwhile the Archen who had been yawned at had fallen asleep from the attack, he was trapped in dream land a top of the dry patch of land he had found earlier. It was lucky that he fell asleep there, or else he may have drowned in other spots.

Since William didn't have any attack that would be able to wake up the Archen without causing major damage, he was forced to wait next to the prehistorical bird. Hopefully Acro would wake up soon, as William already had first-hand experience, giving him very good reason to believe, that staying in this area for too long wouldn't be a good idea. As he tried to count the cattails he could see, an object washed ashore, covered in mud but apparently still useable:

"Eh? What happened?" Acro asked as he woke up. The bird pokemon was woken up by a splash of water that had struck him from the flailing quagsire. He looked around to see the struggling hungry Quagsire floating on its back as it thrashed about. Acro looked at William before slipping into the water, still disliking the water and wishing he could stay out of it, and slipped the Diet Ribbon off of the Quagsire and into his bag. This ribbon seemed to be a terrible item that caused pain and hunger upon the pokemon wearing it. Acro hoped that the quagsire would leave them alone without it now, besides maybe it would come in handy in the future.

"Well...you fell asleep and almost drowned, the Quagsire almost starved to death and I almost counted all of the cattails in the immediate area. That would be about it. Do you assume yourself to be in a state, from which you would say, that it would be sufficient to continue?
William hoped, that they would find the Swanna soon. Not only to protect the Poison types' home but also because he wanted to relax for once after all those missions as well.

"Yeah...sorry about falling asleep..." Acro apologized.
He was angry at himself for falling under the pokemon's ability to simply yawn and fall asleep. Could he really help it though? He didn't know, nor care at the moment. Acro struggled through the marshland, the fog blinded his vision slightly which only hindered him more. He regretted coming here with every ounce of being he had. He would have to make sure to only come back here when he was taller, maybe when he was an archeops with long legs or a long neck.

"Well...it's not your fault. Very few Pokémon can manage to stay awake after the attack Yawn has been used on them.", William excused his temporary partner's excursion into the dream world.
Just like the ever present fog, the Gastly silently drifted across the murky plains, in search of that one Water type, that aparently was too strong for the resident Pokémon to defeat. Or they couldn't agree on a team to do it. Whichever reason it might have been, the job had been posted in the guild and Willaim and Acro had taken it.
And they would finish it.

The Archen hated this mission, even with William being with him. The water was clinging to his feathers, there was no reason to try and get rid of it since he would get wet a few moments later. Oh how he wished he could just fly, or at least be taller than how deep the water went.
Acro didn't feel much like talking since he would probably just complain and curse because of the water. He sank like the rock type he was when he reached deep parts and had to quickly climb his way back up before he ran out of breath. He was lucky he hadn't reached very deep parts though, "Any sign of the bird?" he asked, hoping for a yes.

"Not yet...", William explained.
"Why do Swanna have to be blueish-white again? Finding it in the blueish-white fog here will certainly prove to be interesting. I don't even know, whether we are in close victinity or not..."
While William liked the environment, it was rather easy to see, that Acro didn't, so the Gastly wanted to get the mission done as quickly as possible as well. Acro was a friend and William wanted for his friends to be happy, so he increased the pace, at which he moved through the murky gloom.

"Well, it's using defog to clean the swamp right? So wouldn't we be near or not a trail if we come across an area that isn't so foggy because it would probably mean it had passed by?"
Acro asked.
He half wished he had sent Astrid on this mission by now, half yes because he wouldn't have to be here and half no, because the place was too dangerous for the small pokemon most likely since he had no clue at the time.

"That might be a possibility, but it could be cleaning up in another way as well or it could just be resting for the moment. We shouldn't assume anything unless we are sure."
William was rather happy, that Astrid hadn't come with them. Not only would it be far too dangerous, but he probably wouldn't have helped either, but rather gotten in the way. And in this marshy area, it would be especially easy to lose the little worm. But would Astrid not do anything stupid alone in Grassveil? The duo should finish that mission as soon as possible, so Acro could find out.

"True, th-" Acro said before he was interrupted by a splashing sound close by.
There was another behind them and another to their left while the first was to the right. A big shape could be seen in front of them in the fog.
The shape lowered its head and suddenly launched itself into the air with a few giant flaps of its wings, clearing the area of the fog and revealing a Swanna directly in front of them along with three other shapes that surrounded the duo.

"Well...I guess that's it...", William concluded, having trouble not to be blown away by the strong gusts of wind.
"And of course there had to be other Pokémon as well. Why can't there be a lone outlaw for once?"
The Gastly was starting to get annoyed. Of course it would be logical for the outlaws to work in groups, but their helpers were still a nuisiance, that had to be taken care of. Extra work for the same pay.
But since there was no use complaining about it, the spectral Pokémon prepared for battle.

A wooper, Foongus, and a Shellos glared at the two pokemon as the swanna seemed to keep calm. The wooper used Water Gun, attempting to hit Acro. The Archen had ducked in time though, and tried to leap through the water in a poor attempt at double team. He managed to pull it off, but there weren't as many doubles as there used to be. The real Archen confronted the foongus, since he stood a slightly better chance against this pokemon, who was trying to grow and use an absorb attack on the ghastly.

While the Absorb hit William, the effect was almost unnoticeable, since the Gastly was highly resistant to this type of attack. As the Swanna seemed to be the biggest threat, William decided to give it a piece of his mind. Quite litterally actually, since he transmitted his thoughts via a Confuse Ray into the Water type's brain, causing confusion.
While the bird decided to Wing Attack a tree in its confusion, the Shellos tried to hit William with a Water Pulse. The Swanna, which was suddenly screeching in pain, however, threw the Shellos' aim off far enough, that the Gastly didn't even have to attempt to dodge.

The foongus realized too late that the Archen in front of him was a real deal, the Archen had used a pluck attack on it. The attack did massive damage because of the typing but less than its full potential because the item the pokemon was carrying wasn't a Berry but a Quick Orb. Acro managed to take the small orb from the pokemon, having no clue what it was but managed to use it by accident. The orb glowed and Acro suddenly became faster. That was when he had an idea. The Archen brought out the diet ribbon and wrapped it around the confused Swanna with his temporary boost of speed, it was only a matter of waiting before the ribbon's effect kicked in and the swanna grew too hungry to move.
