The Marsh of Madness Empty
PostSubject: The Marsh of Madness   The Marsh of Madness EmptyFri Jul 12, 2013 1:44 am

The sun was shining above the murky marshes, in which cattails were wildly growing, giving the region its name. The fog was drifting over the tiny pools of water, which were almost completely still, save for the movements of a few Pokémon in them.
Between the marsh's many reeds, another fog seeped into the area.
But this fog was different. It was purple and it seemed to have eyes.
The fog in question was William the Gastly, who had decided to go on a mission to rid these swamps from a Swanna, that was trying to destroy the resident Poison type's habitat.
In a way, they were his brothers. William wasn't allowed to fail.

Oh Arceus....ohArceusOhArceusOHARCEUUUUUS!! Acro thought as he clung to a rare sprouting tree that hung over the water like a looming threat. The tree seemed to be a bit slippery as well, as if a water pokemon had splashed it, and his claws and wings were beginning to fail the Archen.
"No. NO. Nononononono!" He screamed before he lost his grip in the panic. There was a loud splash as the rock flying pokemon fell into the shallow water. Why did he have to take this mission, of all missions? Why didn't he just research what a "marsh" was instead of coming to see for himself? He cursed loudly before standing up and shaking himself to rid the water that began to cling to his feathers. He was supposed to be working with another team on this, he wondered just what team he was to work with again...

Silently William was making his way through the marsh as he suddenly was distracted by an unusually loud noise. Could this be the Swanna he was looking for already?
Upon following the noise however, William didn't discover the Water type at all.
However, he did find a familiar face in the water and had trouble supressing a chuckle.
"What are you doing here, Acro? This is the last place I would have expected you to be. Have you developed a sudden fondness of mud or what?"

"Hi William...I accepted a mission about a swanna, apparently some other team had accepted it before it got taken down so they said to just do it with them. I didn't really know what a Marsh was before I came here...now i'm trapped in this mission with all of this....WATER"
He loathed the water as it seeped through his feathers and touched his skin, he true he was a flying type but he was also a rock type, which wasn't as buoyant and usually sank like, well rocks. Acro had instantly regretted taking the mission as soon as he stumbled onto the place, he had taken a running start and glided his way over to the tree he had been clinging onto for dear life. He hadn't thought ahead as to where he would go next though, so thus was how he ended up being stranded on a tree. He shook his feathers again in attempt to rid the water once more.

"Uh...did you say Swanna? Commisioned by a Weezing? Reward of 100 Poké? Not that it would be bad, but why do we keep running into each other?"
While William was a bit upset, that the guild's board updater could apparently not even take a mission down when it had been accepted, but he was happy as well, being able to travel with his favourite Rock type again. William had probably been on more missions with than without him already...

"Yes, Yes, Yes, and I don't really know, but I'm glad to have someone I already know instead of embarrassing myself in front of a complete stranger."
The archen hated the water, it rose all the way up to his belly in this area and he knew that some areas were deeper with more of a chance of his drowning. He just wanted to get this mission over with as he cursed whatever malevolent force sent him upon this mission with every step he took in these waters. He wasn't sure whether to be thankful the pokemon they were after was a water pokemon or be terrified that it was a water pokemon with the advantage. He sighed, at least if things grew bad....he could throw sticks at it.

"I do actually like it here. It's foggy and gloomy. But that is probably because this is the habitat of my species. I don't think I could stand living on a barren mountain. It would be much too boring. So...since we apparently are on the same mission, have you found anything yet? I sadly haven't."
Finally William was pursuing an outlaw, that wasn't immune or even resistant to his attacks! Finally William wouldn't have to fear tons of Dark and Psychic attacks and could use his own full arsenal!
Acro however was probably having the opposite feeling...

"Neither have I, I do still have all of those sticks from the last missions and a Stun Seed I found Arceus knows how long ago. So we can stun it and set it up for attacks right in front of it if we need to, that is if it still has its effects. It probably wont taste that well though!"
Acro was dreading the water attacks that were in store for him. He had so many weaknesses and he was even weak against his own type, Rock! It didn't make any sense to him, but it was the way his species was. He wondered if it happened to any other pokemon out in the pokemon world, like maybe a fighting dark type that was weak against fighting moves maybe?

"Well...I hope you aren't planning on eating that Stun Seed and if you aren't, I don't see a reason to worry about its taste. So...the marsh is big and we don't have too much time. Should we start?"
William was hoping, that this mission would go better than his last visit to this place, during which he had to keep that Corphish from getting himself killed. He had the recklessness of Astrid and was stubborn like...William couldn't think of a comparison, but Auctor was stubborn. At least he was moderately intelligent.

"No way, I know what a stun seed does and it's not good. Anyways, you're right we should get going."
The archen wasn't too sure about his footing though, so progress was a bit slower for him than for the ghastly which could easily hover about above the water's surface. Acro wondered if water pokemon would like it better here because of the water that was all around, it was obvious fire types would hate this place. His mind pondered about as he walked, nearly falling into a deep pit of water at one point.

"Well...actually what a Stun Seed does is quite good. It still doesn't mean one should eat it."
William didn't even really watch the ground at all. He couldn't trip or fall into something and the Swanna should be visible without looking down as well. The chirping of a variety of insects could be heard through the entire marsh, since the moisture and warmth provided ideal conditions for them to live in during the daytime. In the night the fog intensified and attracted some Ghost types, which preferred the gloomy darkness the night provided.

Acro had finally made it to a spot where the land was just barely surfacing from the water. He sighed in relief, but looked at the stretch of water, grass, and vegetation before him and sighed in despair. There was no way he could just stand atop this mound for the rest of his days or the mission for that matter. He dipped back into the water and was surprised to have something attack him from below and send him out of the water for a few brief seconds.

As he saw Acro jump outof the water for no discernible reason, William didn't believe there to be a very important reason behind it, since they were in a swamp after all. But as he might actually be needing his help, William stopped and tured around to see, what was wrong. But all he could see was Acro standing on a small patch of ry land, looking scared.
"What happened? It's still only water..."

"Th-There's something in it! It's deeper in the area around here and there's something in-" Acro was startled when a blue shape floated up from the water with a strange ribbon tied around its neck.
"Siiiiiire" The quagsire yawned in the Archen's face, causing the Archen to yawn in turn and wobble on his legs as he began to grow tired. Acro managed to get a pluck attack in on the pokemon, not doing much damage, but some.
A gurgling sound could be heard and the quagsire's movements seemed to slow and it began to look more furious and irritable. It was getting more and more hungry by the second because of the ribbon wrapped around its neck.

"Okay, that is not just water. Another Quagsire? There haven't been that many of them around here before."
Seeing the effect of the ribbon around the Quagsire's neck, Wlliam decided to try and draw the battle out for a bit. Thinking of a seven-sided triangle and intersecting parallel lines, the Gastly focussed those thoughts into a single, strange shphere, which he launched at the Quagsire.
Why was the move called Confuse Ray when it wasn't a ray at all? Maybe it was just to confuse the target even further...
