First topic message reminder :

Mordred was shaking. No, he was not shaking from fear. He was shaking from the SHEER COLD. His arms were wrapped around him in attempts of lowering his freezing temperature. His eyes were reduced to mere squints due to the blizzard, causing him to see in blurs. His teeth chattered, feeling breathe escape his throat and appear as a visible fog as it disappeared into the violent evening.

The blizzard raged on, dropping countless bullets of snow upon the unlucky passers-by of Icicle Woods. No one had foreseen this harsh weather, but only few came to the Woods anyways, so it would be expected. The snowy ground grew and grew, inches by inches as it continued to bury the trees and whatever was left upon the unholy grounds. The spindly branches of the trees shook wildly, allowing its eerie rattling to accompany the unnerving roar of the blizzard. It was a picture of terror.

The lone Scraggy continued on, gripping his scarlet hood as it fought against him in order to go with the wind. He refused, tightening his grip on the fabric as he trudged through the thick layer of snow. He had to find shelter or he would be good as dead soon. He'd heard of many stories about the dangers of Icicle Woods, but he never imagined it to be as harsh as it was.

Willpower steeled, his squinting eyes attempted to find a makeshift shelter. A cave, or something similar. Anything to take cover from the weather. If it weren't for the fact he was part Dark Type, he would've been as good as blind right then and there.

Mordred seemed relieved that the Sneasel wasn't going to attack them. Although, it was a bit disappointing that the owner wasn't going to join them. Then again, Sneasel were part Dark-Type. He would be lying if he didn't say that the darkness was much more comforting compared to sitting with strangers. Sadly, the Scraggy couldn't enjoy the luxury of the darkness in such temperatures. It made him just a tad envious.

Silence followed after the quick conversation. As the Scraggy allowed the cold to be overwhelmed by the heat provided by the fire, he began pondering whether or not they'd be able to survive through the blizzard. He could smell the faint scent of food in the far corner of the cave, but that was already off-limits. It was possible that he could just leave the cave and quickly scavenge nearby, but there was no telling if the blizzard would calm down by then. The fighting pokemon shook it off, thinking he would just have to wait. He didn't have much of a choice.

"Um, well, I'm Mordred, by the way." He said, finally realizing that he hadn't introduced himself yet. He found it rude that he'd intruded, especially without even introducing himself. The blizzard wasn't going away any time soon, so it would be best that he'd learn to be more comfortable near these strangers. He had to be as impeccable as he could to prevent any complications, especially since one of these strangers he had to lounge with didn't seem hesitant on the idea of killing him. He'd rather not die this young.

Kira had to resist diving towards the smell of food in the corner of the cave. Her mouth drooled a bit as she thought of what could be back there and at the possibility of apples. She wiped her mouth and snapped out of her dream wonderland when the scraggy spoke, "Um, well, I'm Mordred, by the way."
"I'm Kira." Kira mumbled, she couldn't remember if she had introduced herself at all.

((Sorry it's short...I can't really think straight with pain coming from my teeth >_< ))

Cry didn't answer with her name. She stayed in the darkness. She was sitting in the path to the food, making sure no one would dare try to take her supply. Every egg, berry, and piece of meat was rightfully earned by her own skill and strength. She was not going to give it away to anyone. If these two were stupid enough to walk unprepared into a blizzard with no supplies, they weren't long for this world anyway. If the lucked out and survived this time, their stupidity would kill them later. They had to be part of the guild. More than a few of their number came to this area and froze to death. Cry stayed away from interfering with them as long as they didn't bother her.

Mordred smirked, seeing the Riolu swiftly wipe drool from her mouth. It seems he wasn't the only one who could smell food at the back of the cave. Luckily, he didn't have as much of an appetite since he'd eaten before coming to the area. He had his doubts on what food he would be able to find in such cold climates, leading him to eat quite a hefty amount of food before departing. After getting stranded in such a blizzard, he was relieved of his decision.

"Better not go any where near there. Sneasel couldn't be that strong, but picking a fight in its own home would be rude. I can go scavenge nearby once the blizzard calms down." He said, suppressing a yawn. This warmth was beginning to make him sleepy. But even he knew that it would be a bad idea to sleep in such conditions. The Sneasel could kill him, or even put out the fire and let him die slowly of Hypothermia. That would be a death he'd prefer not to suffer through.

"Wasn't planning on it, but thanks. I'll help if you like." Kira responded to Mordred. She didn't feel tired at all. She watched the flames flicker about like a charmander's tail. she sometimes though she saw shaped in the fire, but she knew she was just fooling herself. Though it was entertaining to see what looked like another riolu in the fire. She eventually grew bored of it and watched outside in the blizzard; it seemed like it wasn't going to let up anytime soon. She was glad she was able to find a place to get to and receive warmth. She didn't mind the sneasel, since she didn't really have a bone to pick with it.

Blinding Blizzards - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Blinding Blizzards   Blinding Blizzards - Page 2 EmptySat Mar 23, 2013 2:21 am

After a while, the fire was showing signs of running low on fuel, something that Cry could not afford. The fire was more than warmth. It was a sign to all other pokemon. In these woods, the pokemon stayed away from signs of habitation. Most had moods colder than the weather and would rather stick to themselves rather than waste energy causing trouble. You needed energy to stay alive. Wasting it by invading others' homes made you weaker... unless signs of weakness showed in the habitat. Fire was strength.

Cry went back for but a moment. She returned to where she started and tossed a bundle of assorted tinder between the two 'guests'. "If you are gonna use the fire, you will help maintain it. One will stay awake if the other sleeps. Keep it burning steadily. There are more violent things out there that won't come if the fire stays up. If you wanna survive to get home, make sure it stays bright. Do not burn through all the wood quickly." Cry then fell into silence once again.

Mordred's eyes became wide and alert when he saw the Sneasel suddenly throw some wood-like material near them. Twigs, dry leaves, and other miscellaneous materials were mixed in the bundle, obviously made for fire. He looked over to where the other dark pokemon stood and nodded, relieved that the pokemon was actually going to help them than attack. Maybe the Sneasel wasn't so bad after all.

"Sure, least we could do for intruding." He said, moving the tinder a bit farther from the fire to avoid accidentally setting it on. He got a few of the wood, throwing them into the dimming flames. The fire grew brighter as it engulfed the wood. It was just a bit mesmerizing, how the fire danced as it overwhelmed the material, or it was all just in the Scraggy's head from boredom. Idling around wasn't something he wanted to do, but as the blizzard roared, he decided it was better than freezing to death.

Kira had moved to help, but it seemed that the scraggy had already done something. She sat back down and continued to gaze into the fire. She sent out her aura out of boredom to search around, and found an unusual shape coming right towards them. She couldn't make out what it was, "Hey guys...someone or something is coming this way..." she looked out at the blizzard, it was still a ways off, but one could still see the figure of the pokemon making it's way towards them. Kira was surprised when she saw another pokemon behind it, they must have been heading towards the fire or the smell of food.

Cry was instantly at the entrance of the cave, peering out at the darker shapes among the wall of swirling snowflakes. "Snubbull and... Sneasel. They are obviously trying to kick me out of this cave... Probably planned to eat me too. Looks like they'll be the food instead. You won't starve after all. You two will take the Snubbull. I can handle the Sneasel. Aim to kill. They will be doing the same. Remember, you are in the wild. Rules are different. Now hide so you can jump your target." Cry went into the shadows in the cave, waiting with claws ready.

The Scraggy listened to the Sneasel's monoloque, getting up from near the fire. He went over to the darkness, right nearby the cave's entrance. He took a deep breath, allowing the shadows to engulf him. He got ready, prepared to use Sand-Attack at whatever would dare to enter first.

'Kill? You've got to be kidding me.' Mordred thought silently, his hand already filled with sand as he waited. Killing was not something he was going to do any time soon. He'd done that before, and all it brought was fear and his separation from his family. He wouldn't be doing it any time soon, even at the cost of his own life. But still, if these pokemon were really that feral, he wouldn't hesitate to at least knock them out cold and just leave them ditched somewhere.

Kira also did her best to hide in the shadows she noticed that Mordred had sand in his hand, she used a quick foresight while the pokemon were approaching so that if the sand somehow got in her eyes she could still fight and hit the pokemon. She thought it would've been better to have the scraggy fight the snubull with help from the sneasel while she took care of the other sneasel with her blaze kick, that way they would have the advantage on both battles. She decided to fight the sneasel's way, after all it was her den they were fighting for. She prepared to leap out at the snubull from behind the sand with a blazing kick from her best attack, Blaze Kick.

Wait a moment...kill? she thought, Surely injuring them would be enough...and EATING them!?vWho said Riolus were carnivorous!? She blazed on her thoughts, sure she liked food, but not FLESH from pokemon she'd killed!

The enemy Sneasel would be first to react, picking out the most dangerous target and attacking it. In this case, it was Cry coming at him with a savage slashing scratch with her claws. Claw met claw as the two used the sharp tools to attack and defend each other. They weren't trying to make the other faint. Their attacks were obviously deadly in nature. That was the way things worked here. The Snubbull would be coming at the other two with the say mindset. Desperation made pokemon unpredictable and this Snubbull wanted Cry's food badly. Mordred and Kira would have to suspend their morals for now.

The Snubbull walked into the cave, paying no mind to the battling Sneasels due to its eagerness to feast. But it was unable to reach far as a handful of sand was thrown at its face, causing it to let out a cry of surprise and pain as the sand blinded it. It opened its jaws, lunging at the nearest pokemon. Its teeth had a few traces of sparks on it.

Mordred was luckily able to dodge on time, just barely escaping the Snubbull's Thunder Fang. He maneuvered behind the small dog pokemon, pulling his foot back and using Low Kick. He sent the small pokemon a few paces forward, the Snubbull landing on its face. It growled, standing up and shaking the sand off its face. It looked over to the Scraggy, before lunging at the fighting type with its jaws open for another attack.

Kira had intercepted the snubull's assault with a blazing kick. Her foot was set aflame as she round house kicked the snubull. She leaped away from a thunder fang and was about to use another when the snubull had tackled into her. She crashed past the fighting sneasel and hit a rock. She fell to the floor and picked herself up, she was not happy now. She leaped back and behind the Scraggy, "How about we try to keep using sand attack combined with Blaze Kick? That way it would be nearly impossible for it to hit us." she suggested to the scraggy before taking a hit from an intimidating scary face from the snubull.

Cry was focused on her fight, matching the other Sneasel move for move until she kicked a rock into the other Sneasel's face. That distraction let Cry slip past his guard and score a direct Scratch to the stomach. The wound was deep and bleeding. He held it in pain, trying to back away. However, Cry came forward and brandished her claws to strike a final deadly blow. Cry had to... for survival. It was how pokemon survived out here.
